Tripp Anders.
Formerly the best surfer in the world. Still Longview, Florida's most famous son. And, starting this week, my boss.
My boss at my summer job. A job my parents made me get. A job my parents made me get because I hadn't left the house since I moved home six months ago.
After my divorce.
I'm in my thirties, by the way.
…Yeah.
I thought trying to fit into a Hot Beach one-piece five mornings a week would be the toughest part of this job. Instead, it’s Tripp. He's arrogant, condescending, and used to getting what he wants.
And what he wants right now is me.

Ripped is the perfect read for any romance fans looking for a fun quick read, one they can complete in no time at all yet will enjoy. I’ll be completely honest, this isn’t quite a full four-star rating, but it was so close I had to round it up.

Ripped is a story filled with fun and wit, one that sucks you in quickly. The characters are fun, the town is interesting, and the storyline keeps you wanting more. It is a simple story, one that does not require you to use too many brain cells, but every so often we need such a read.

What made this one stand out for me was the male lead. He felt different to those we usually have in these kinds of stories. I’m no stranger to male leads who do not seem the type for a happily ever after – all romance fans can list many characters that fit the description – yet this one felt different. It was hard to place my finger on what it was, but he didn’t seem the type of character usually thrown into these kinds of stories. It was rather refreshing, actually. Sure, he was the quintessential stud with enough bad habits to annoy our female lead, but there was something about him that made this book feel different to the norm. Like I said, I cannot quite put my finger on it, but I liked it.

The ending will also intrigue people – but I feel like it will be a love or hate aspect, something to divide the readers. You see, the events in the last couple of chapters seem to come out of nowhere. I’m not going to say what happened, but it was entirely unexpected. People will either love this surprise element, or they will feel like it belonged in a different book. Personally, I enjoyed it.

In conclusion, Ripped was my first Jake Irons read and it has ensured I’ll be reading more of the author in the future.

This book took some unexpected turns that I did not see coming. I was a little iffy about Tripp. He's not the typical hero that calls to me, but he surprised me once I really get to know his character. He does have a habit that is a turn off, but then he has a surprising nerdy quality that I share with him so he can't be too bad. I have to say that was my favorite scene of the book because it was so unexpected. This isn't usually the book that I'm drawn to, but I I'm glad I read it because it I did enjoy it.

Ripped is a wonderful example of what can come from taking chances on life and love when two lonely hearts meet for fun and emotional ties form. Bobby is a lonely divorcee trying to figure out what to do now. Tripp is the local celebrity who is also lonely and is getting pretty fed up with life. Bobby is pretty much all over the place, but I can understand. She just lost her husband, her friends, basically her whole life. She moves from Seattle back home to Florida and is stuck in a rut. Tripp was a famous surfer who had an injury and now owns a few businesses. His life was defined by the surfboard and he's realizing he wants to be more than his accomplishments.

I was close to giving this a 3.5 because Tripp and Bobby reminded me of college students not adults in their thirties or close to it. The reason I bumped it up to a four is because I did overall enjoy the story. I enjoyed the friendship Tripp and Bobby had. I enjoyed the relationship that came from the friendship. The banter between Tripp and Bobby had me laughing so hard. Ripped is something I'll recommend to anyone for a great read with a few surprises along the way!

I just finished Ripped by Jake Irons and I loved it. There were several things which were completely refreshing to his story which made me keep reading.

First, Jake gives us two characters who have had to make a life change due to external circumstance. They're both a bit in limbo as they try to find direction. Why did I like this? Because it wasn't the standard 'one character has his act together while the other tries to find hers.'

Second, Jake throws us a modified May-December romance. I say modified because the age difference wasn't more than 10 years. So what? Well, the woman was the older one and she wasn't a cougar by any means. She was an absolutely adorable mid-thirties woman who was really in a rough transition.

Third, Mr. Irons tosses us a plot twist toward the end which was beautifully executed.

Last, Jake gives us dialogue. There weren't pages and pages and pages of droning personal thoughts from the characters. Jake gives us fantastic dialogue and connection between the two characters. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through all the conversations as they connected all the dots made total sense on character development. It was such a twist on how many novels are written.

I found the characters to be real very likable with a fantastic storyline. The epilogue is a must read and considering my profession (working with at risk kids) you wrote the perfect ending. Thank you Jake Irons, for improving my weekend with your wonderful book! I'm looking forward to your next one!!! :D

Bobby is a divorced woman living in her parent's guesthouse. She is a confused woman who is just trying to make it day to day. Tripp is a former professional surfer who now owns his own life guarding company. He is now the cocky, famous, hometown celebrity. When they meet one day at the the lifeguard stand, they both realize they are trying to find themselves in this world. As their relationship develops, a twist of events threatens that bond. This surprise twist adds some excitement and suspense to the story.

I thought the story was very good. The banter between these two characters is very comical. However the ending fell flat for me. I felt like it was rushed and just ended. Things felt unresolved. I would have liked to read more about their relationship and how they moved forward in life.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..I enjoyed the story however I didn't feel we really got an ending, I am hoping Mr. Irons writes more about Trip and Bobby, I felt as if it left us with questions. So we meet Bobby who has just divorced and she is lost, she had devoted her energy in her marriage and who she was. Bobby is now working as a life guard for Hot Beach, she older than the normal crowd and knows this is not something she will continue to do, she just has no clue what she is going to do or where. Bobby ends meeting Tripp the local celebrity and bad boy, when they meet Tripp is instantly attracted to Bobby and she is so different than everyone else that didn't care who he was. Tripp is also lost he doesn't who he really is and what he wants to do but being Bobby makes him happy and confused. I wont tell you anymore but I did like the banter between these too, but I need a resolution. Do they stay together? Where do they go from here?

I enjoyed this book.
I liked the characters and story.
But, for me the last 10% of the book kinda confused me.
It was like I was reading a whole other story.
It was good, but totally unexpected.

As a new reader to his books, I was impressed. Well written with great characters. Bobby is a divorced woman who moved back to her hometown. Tripp is the town hero and former surf champ. Of all the places Bobby could get a job at, it just happens to be with Tripp, AKA " the perfect male specimen." It's been a while for her but she soon realizes what she's been missing out on. Is it a fling or can they be more than "friends with benefits?" I'm looking forward to reading more of his work. This is definitely a book I would recommend. 5+++ stars

First off, I love this cover it is very eye catching and I love the colors that were picked.

This is my first book by author Jake Irons and it was ok. The writing was a bit different from me and I am not sure yet what how I feel about it. It wasn't horrible, just I don't know if I cared for it to be honest.

What drew me into this book was the cover as well as the blurb, however, that is about all that I loved about it. I didn't really get into the romance between Bobby and Tripp. I don't know, I just felt that they were kindof depressing. I mean, I understand that they have a lot of things going on and everything, but honestly, the way the characters were it just didn't do it for me.

The last part of the book was so confusing to me I felt like I was in another book entirely. I am still not sure what went on. Overall, this one wasn't for me, but others may very well like it. I am going to say 2.5 stars on this one.

While the blurb and excerpts given tickle along the hot and steamy parts of Ripped, that's not what truly drew me into the story-line. Bobby suffers from depression and anxiety, rightly so, after spending eight years being emotionally drained by her ex, Kevin. Side note: There is a banter on those who are named Kevin and it made me laugh, a lot. My second (ex) husband's name is Kevin. Was like I was reminiscing about the inner turmoil as I read.

Tripp, while several years younger, brings fun and a second chance in life (to live life) into Bobby's, but she also does the same in return without knowing it. I love the banter between Bobby and Tripp; it was smoothly written and I laughed when they laughed. Wonderfully written to draw in the reader.

The end up in what would be called a "situationship"; wow, where has this word been all my life?! Both also come from emotionally drained pasts due to either overbearing, you can't do anything right parenting to parents who rode the pay stub of your life then dumped you when it got rocky.

Neither can believe the other is who they truly are and they are just being themselves really.

Excerpt:  What does Bobby want from me? What do I want from her?

Then the twist comes in (not going to do a spoiler) which leaves both of them in life or death situation.

As stated above, I truly enjoyed this due to the author's ability to wrap me into the dialogue alone. Written close to this day and age, both being millennials, but not annoyingly so (sorry, not sorry), just the right amount of heat in the bedroom, but not "in your face" nor all about sex. Has a bit of everything and kept me engaged through every page. While I was offered an ARC, I JUMPED on the fact it was (is ~ could still be, not sure) available via Kindle Unlimited.

Returning home to Florida after her divorce has been hard for Bobby Smith. But with a new job and her boss making it hard to resist him, she might just find herself falling for the same kind of guy as her ex-husband, which could prove costly since Tripp Anders is used to getting what he wants and what he wants is Bobby. Will Tripp prove her wrong in that he's nothing like her ex, or will she walk away from her second chance at happy ever after?

This book had its ups and downs for me, so it's hard to give it any more than the three stars I've given it. There were moments when I wanted to scream in frustration at the characters because they're old enough to know better that no matter what they do nothing will help them forget their pasts. Temporarily, yes. Forever, no. Drinking themselves into oblivion and smoking marijuana are things I can mostly cope with in a book, but for these two it was definitely an escape and had me thinking the heroine needed to find something else to do instead of feeling sorry for herself.

As for the dialogue, I really liked the banter between this couple, as their chemistry is intense and instantaneous from the moment they meet, but there were times when I needed to put this book down and come back to it. Yet, in saying that, I did like this pair together as they need each other to heal from their pasts. Furthermore, I liked the way this story progressed and how things get a little dangerous for them towards the end. Will Tripp find a way to protect Emily?

With Emily, she was betrayed by her ex-husband and it's understandable that she finds it hard not to compare Tripp to the man she was once married to. How does she know that if she gives the hero a chance he won't turn out to be exactly like her ex? However, I liked that she did give Tripp a chance, even though they're complete opposites and she wants more out of life than what she thinks the hero can give her. While the hero, he's been through tough times with how his surfing career ended and it's just lucky that he's found something he can fall back on. Really, he's done well for himself with his business since having to retire from surfing , but I can't say there weren't times when I wished that the hero took life a bit more seriously.

Overall, I did like this story where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance totally hot; and the ending had me worried for the main characters because of what they go through, but had me liking that Emily was willing to give Tripp a chance at forever. I would recommend Ripped by Jake Irons, if you enjoy Sloane Howell, Ava Harrison, Ella Fields and Callie Hart.

Bobby Smith is at a crossroads in her life when her marriage ends and she decides to move back into her parents house. She gets a job working at a local beach business owned by former surfing sensation Tripp Anders.

Tripp's life is without purpose now that he is retired from surfing. Owning several businesses and being a local celebrity are starting to lose their appeal and he's just... bored.

Bobby and Tripp shouldn't work. She's six years older, divorced and living with her parents. He has a ton of money and prestige and garners attention every where he goes. But the more time they spend together, the more fun they have.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, I really liked the blurb on this book, but I unfortunately disliked so many things in the story it was all just a huge miss for me. The author has a great voice, but the plot left a lot to be desired. I'm not in the business of bashing books, so I'll leave it short and sweet.
I felt Bobby and Tripp had some major drinking/drug abuse issues that were never moved on from. In fact their whole relationship revolved around being wasted... not really reassuring.
Not much happened in this book (besides getting super drunk when they were supposed to be making sure people didn't drown) until the last few chapters and then it was like... where did that come from? And not in a good way.
I wish I would have liked this book, and I see that a lot of people did, so hopefully my view of it is just the solitary one in the bunch.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Jake Irons is a new-to-me author so I really had no expectations as to what I was going to be reading. Ripped was about a woman who is newly divorced and heads home to regroup her life and finds herself working for the town's surfing celebrity. Unexpectedly they find themselves in a friends with benefits, with possibly more situation.
I think what intrigued me about this story was the second chance at a life idea for Bobby...and it's not really one she envisioned for herself. Being able to just live without the weight of a disastrous marriage is really refreshing and you can really watch as she comes to terms with it all.
And who doesn't want a fun playboy to guide you along the way!?
There was a bit of drama in the end which I think really added to the story...and I think if the author would have pulled it in earlier really could have enriched the story. There were a couple parts where I thought they were talking too much and analyzing too much and I kind of skimmed over that a little bit. Not sure if it was where I was in my headspace at the time, but I had a hard time figuring out what that was bringing to the story.
Overall, I thought it was a great read. I'm intrigued by this author and I would definitely consider reading more of his work!
Giving Ripped 4 stars.
Jake Irons is a new to me author so I was really excited to read Ripped, I mean hot and famous surfer... How could I not be? It was a real fast read for me, especially because I'm a fan of having a second chance in life and love romance.
Tripp Anders has it all, the fame, the fortune, and a business that has him side by side with beautiful life guards. Tripp may have everything, but he lacks for something in his life and finds that in his very attractive and more than a few years older employee. There is something about Tripp that I loved, it could be his cockiness or just the way that he doesn't take no for an answer. He definitely is toe-tingling.
Bobby is thirty something and comes off younger in the way she thinks. I'm going to blame that on her divorce, her intake of alcohol and a certain substance that has her coming off questionable. The connection between her and Tripp is perfection, it's the connection between me the reader that I couldn't grab on to. Bobby did win me over with giving as good as she gets whether it's in the bedroom or her witty remarks.
I really enjoyed the story, the suspense was a twist, the sexual connection is knee buckling and I feel that I wanted more from these two characters. It did feel a little rushed at the end so I didn't get that closure from an HEA. It's a really good read, I did finish it in one day because of the good storyline and interesting characters.
Ripped by Jake Irons was a book of second chances of sorts. Two people who lost so much and just wanted to find their way and accomplish more.
Bobby’s life has changed, and she is trying to figure out her next steps. She is back home after her divorce and feeling a bit lost. So, she gets a job to get out of the house, at her parent’s insistence. Not exactly where a woman in her thirties wants to be.
Tripp Anders was a former surfer known for his great abilities and though he is now retired, he is a local celebrity. He runs several successful businesses, but he is not happy where his life is going. I loved Tripp, he was cocky, determined and always set to get what he wants.
I have to say I loved the banter between Tripp and Bobby. Bobby is older and has been through so much. Tripp is more laid back but is also looking for something. Two characters that are going through many changes and feeling adrift. Could they find what they are looking for in each other or is it only temporary?
What I liked about this story was how both characters were searching for something in their own ways. I loved reading their journey, see their friendship form and develop. Ripped was an intriguing read that kept me captivated. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
3.5 Review!
Ripped is my first book I have read written by Jake Irons. I have read with previous reviews on his other books that he has has a unique quality with his writing. After reading Ripped, I definitely agree with what other readers are saying. I definitely had fun reading this story. My heart was sad for Bobby at the beginning as she was trying to emotionally and physically adjust to the sudden change in her world. Living day by day she finds herself working as a lifeguard for the infamous Tripp Anders.
Their first encounter was not what I expected it to be. But at the same time it was refreshing. The connection with these two were instant. Before you know their banter had you laughing hard. When things got real, the emotions surfaced. The way Tripp showed Bobby that life does not have to be so serious, she finally lives for the first time in years.
The characters were great. The idea of the story was there. I may have gotten a little lost way at the beginning and at the end. But I think that is where the uniqueness of the author comes in. All in all, I did not turn away from this story and I truly enjoyed reading Ripped.
I'm a newbie to this author and I have to say, I really enjoyed this book! I think one of my favorite things about this book was the banter between Bobby and Tripp. Yea, so they had a...8 year age gap...give or take, but if Tripp was older than Bobby, no one would GAF. They seemed to really connect, and they were both in a similar state of mind when meeting...which wasn't the best, but they were exactly what the other needed.
To me this was a light, fun, read. There are a few serious parts in the book and the ending was kind of like woah...the "accident" maybe could've been elaborated on more, but I really didn't mind. I got a quick bit of thriller/action that I wasnt expecting. I still got my HEA and was happy with that, though I would've loved an epilogue maybe a year or two down the road. All in all, loved the storyline and humor, I will definitely read more by this author!
3 Crazy Ass Stars!!!
Jake Irons is a new-to-me author. I liked the premise of the story. I was into it and then the ending kinda threw me for a loop. It was totally unexpected and didn't really fit into the storyline. And then it was left a bit unresolved. I wanted more details on what happened after the incident to the perpetrators. There also seemed to be a lot of holes in the story where more details were needed in those parts.
I also felt the ages of the characters were just off. I get the whole "being adrift" thing but honestly, they seemed they should have been younger.
I did enjoy the progression of Tripp and Bobby's relationship though. I liked their banter and got a few good chuckles from them. I would have like to get a little more on the ending, an epilogue of sorts, and where life took them.
The blurb it what drew me in, however, it is somewhat misleading especially the description of Tripp. Bobby and Tripp were very woe is me characters and that never changed throughout the book. Bobby just moved back in with her parents after a nasty divorce and Tripp is the rich boy who hates all the fame his career brought now that it is over. I couldn’t connect with the characters they just seemed so self involved and immature especially a certain scene with Tripp and Bobby after a fight with her parents and he’s not in the right state of mind to drive. Then the final plot twist with Oscar, I just couldn’t follow the progression of the story and then we were left with an ending that was wasn’t very much of an ending.
As for the sexy moments, there a few but most of sexiest moments are mentioned in passing and we don’t get to experience them.
Ripped by Jake Irons is a standalone romance novel. It is the first story I’ve read from this author and I really enjoyed it! It made me laugh out loud many times throughout the book and took some unexpected turns that I didn’t see coming.
Bobby is a thirty-something recently divorced woman who moved back in with her parents. She takes a job at Hot Beach where she meets her boss Tripp who is the local town celebrity. They both are at low places in their life with Bobby trying to move on and Tripp just tired of everything in his life. When you mix two hot messes together you get one hysterical ride!
I really liked the story but I felt the ending was a bit rushed. I liked the banter between the characters and overall was a decent read! Looking forward to reading more from this author!
Jake Irons is a new to me author and I was pleasantly surprised for the most part. The synopsis is what really drew me in with this story and what this book gave was pretty good but lacking a bit at the end. I loved the idea... and the premise seemed to be killer but the execution confused me at times, leaving me wanting just a bit more.
Told in dual point of views, we delve into the lives of Tripp, a retired surfer, and Bobby, a divorcee trying to find herself again. What goes from aggravation to friendship to maybe something more.... a complicated yet fun story is told. Throw in a few twists and some great banter... and we round out this journey.
I think this was a more... it's me not you kind of thing.
I will definitely be checking out more of this author in the future.
Jake Irons is a new to me author. And while I really liked the concept of the story. I was a bit let down by the ending, and at times felt the story was rushed. The whole kidnapping scene just felt really rushed. Another thing that bothered me was the drug use. The pot was OK to a point, but the coke just felt like it really didn't belong in this story.
Now I must say I did enjoy the progression of Tripp and Bobby's relationship. There were some really funny laugh out loud moments, and I really enjoyed their banter with one another. (Like the Kevin's scene)
I found Ripped to be a fun quick read, and hope to read more from the author in the future.
First read by this author.
Booby is trying to figure out her life, recently divorced and returned to her parents home to regroup, she finds her self working as a life guard. Her boss is a local celebrity and all round party boy. She knows that this is just a set back and needs to her her life back on track by the end of the summer.
From his social media Tripp appears about as deep as a puddle, for Tripp and ex champion surfer.. his life is a ‘front’ his party boy image a joke along with his celebrity. He wants more from life, he just doesn’t k ow what until he meets Bobby.
Surprisingly good read. The interaction between Tripp and bobby was witty, clever and funny. The chemistry between them was on point and I have many laugh out loud moments.
This was my first book by Jake Irons. It was a different ttake on a may December relationship which I normally dont like but I liked it in this book. Bobby going through a rough patch living with her parents again after just getting divorced and 30. Her parents force her to get a job and she has an instant connection to her boss trip who is younger than her. Tripp life is in limbo also so it was nice to see them figure things out together. There was a couple things I didn't like like the drugs which I feel really weren't needed but overall a great read.
Tripp is not a typical main character. He's more about the fun. Outside of surfing, he spends his life drinking and partying.
And Bobby isn't your typical heroine. She's a divorced, confused woman who finds herself working for Tripp.
The sparks at first are not the fun kind. She is no fan of Tripp! However, the sparks catch fire and now the fun starts.
There are a few twists and turns late in the book that will take you on a fun ride. And there is your HEA of the Tripp variety.
This story wasn’t what I expected, I pretty much just expected some big alpha guy trying to woo a woman but instead I got a surfing champion falling in love with one of the life guards at his resort. It was pretty interesting and a pleasant surprise. The first couple of them working together were funny and it endeared me to the pair immediately. Story was sweet and well written. I give it 4 stars.- By Tiffany
Hot, sweet, & charming!
Wasn’t like your regular boss/employee romance trope. It reads like reality, kind of, but I'm not going to spoil that part for you. ;-)
Both Bobby & Tripp feel very relatable. We've all been in that lost place before. These two find each other and happiness.
It was warm, funny, at times melancholy, and sweet. I enjoyed this a lot. Felt like summer.
I am giving this five stars, because, this book was written for "grownups". Smart, funny, adventurous. Bobby and Tripp are great characters. Their chemistry is great. Deep and intellectually stimulating. (the secret to life, the universe and everything) I'm over stating my case a little, but it's a great read. Highly recommend. I was given this book to read and this is my honest opinion.
