Get ready to crack the case with Pink and Detective Briggs!
Lacey Pinkerton is busy getting ready for spring at Pink's Flowers and at the same time Port Danby is bustling with activity as it prepares for its annual flea market in the town square. In the midst of it all, a talented group of artists has shown up with their easels to paint pictures of the Pickford Lighthouse. When one of the artists turns up missing and then dead, Lacey works alongside of her favorite detective, James Briggs, to solve the murder. What she doesn't expect is to end up on the murderer's short list of enemies.
Book 5 of the Port Danby Cozy Mystery Series. Each book can be read as a standalone but they are best read in order.
1. Marigolds and Murder 2. Carnations and Chaos 3. Mistletoe and Mayhem 4. Roses and Revenge 5. Tulips and Trouble Books 6-14 TBA
Another great installment of the Pork Danby Cozy Mystery Series! I am loving everything about this series. Great characters, a fun town, and great relationships. I enjoyed getting a bit of a "blast from Brigg's past" in this one as we meet one of his former teachers. Also loved the banter between Pink and Briggs about the new "friend" in Brigg's life. These are always just a good time, and fun, quick reads!
A great read just a shame that the culprit was obvious from the start. The yearly flea market has everyone out in force looking for bargains, especially the antique ones. However no one expected the death of a young woman painter from the local class. Who would have wanted to kill her? Was it greed, love, jealousy or an unfortunate coincidence? Can she and her detective work together to clear up the case? Loved the little twist at the end about the doll and the very unforgettable Bear.
Port Danby Cozy Mystery Series Review Books Two – Five Carnations & Chaos #2; Mistletoe & Mayhem #3 Roses & Revenge #4; Tulips & Trouble #5 London Lovett Wild Fox Press Full-length novels (50,000 words) Contemporary Cozy Mystery
Tulips and Trouble #5 ⭐⭐⭐🌙 While the town prepares for its annual flea market, mischief surfaces and an artist disappears and then turns up murdered. Pink and her nose once again come to Detective Briggs’ aid as they put their findings together and come up with the right answer, but not before the killer targets Pink.
I love the covers of this series. The author pic at the top is adorable. The picture of the town of Port Danby is awesome as it changes on each book with the season of the story. Then the title box at the bottom always has the appropriate flowers in it from the story as well. They are subtly colored by on the bright side. I’m pretty sure this is a girly thing. Sorry.
The regular characters of the series are developing quite nicely up to this point and the relationships are getting interesting if a bit predictable. Sometimes if it weren’t for Pink’s nose picking up some elusive scent where it shouldn’t be, there would be no resolution to these crimes. Detective Briggs seems to be a bit clueless sometimes as he doesn’t seem to contribute much in the way of findings. I suppose that’s only to be expected given the way the author has the series set up. I’d like to see a bit more intelligence from him, though. See him connect the dots once in the while, even if she’s the one who found them. I’ve read the first half of what’s currently been published. Now, I’m looking to read the second half of what’s out there and see if it holds up. It’s all easy reading and fun. I recommend them to those of you who enjoy cozy mysteries and are looking for another series to add to your shelves.
Seriously Mom and me love this series. Every book we pick up we are excited to read and we get sucked right in every time. We open this book with tulips. We know how fitting is that for the title, but anyways they are putting together a bunch of bouquets with tulips and of course we slip right into all the little town 'drama' that we not need to be caught up to date on. One of those being James or Detective Briggs. He has a puppy that was dropped off at the station and is try to find a new home for the little guy. As they take the puppy for a walk down by the water they pass a group of artist and low and behold Detective Briggs recognizes one of them as his high school art teacher from back when he was in high school. One of the student in the art group also just happens to be friend with Lacey's shop assistant. As the week keep going and the town participates in the annual flea market, which of course Lacey is help both her friends with both their stands, gets into full swing one of the artist from the art group goes missing and turns up dead. It is up to Lacey and Detective Briggs to figure out who killed the girl and why she was killed. Along the way we get to participate in the search to find the puppy a new home and smell a whole lot of lotion bottles. Seriously you need to pick up this series mom and me on book number 5 and still rocking it.
Spring is in the air and there's a little case of murder popping up. Which isn't all that unusual in Port Danby, as you might know. Needless to say Lacey and Detective Briggs are in the thick of things trying to figure out who did what and for what reason.
As tends to happen, Lacey ends up in the middle of things. Sure, sure, she's helping the hunky detective so she's in the middle in that respect, but she's also getting the feeling of being watched as the case progresses. Which isn't a fun feeling.
Between helping Briggs and running her flower business, she's also working her way through the scant clues she's uncovering in the century old Hawksworth family murder. Might I just say that is one slow building mystery. I don't mean that in a bad way. Really, between all the other murders she solves it's pretty awesome that she has time to follow any 100 year old clues. So I guess I have to resolve myself to a slow resolution to that one.
Tulips and Trouble is Book 5 in the Port Danby Mystery series and I think I love this one the best of all. Then again I think that every time I read one of these gems of a story! This book has everything you can want in a cozy mystery, and more.
What I love in these books as a whole is all of the wonderful characters we have gotten to know over the course of reading this series, and the continuing relationships between some of the characters, as well as their quirks, fears, what makes them happy and the usual things that happen to people on a daily basis-until someone gets murdered!
It is spring in Port Danby and Lacey "Pink" Pinkerton is getting ready for Easter at her Flower Shop with the help of her perfect worker Ryder, as well as her pet crow Kingston, and her cat Nevermore who accompany her from home to her flower shop most of the time. There are so many beautiful colored tulips and so many orders to fill!
It's the time of year for the annual Flea market which draws all types of people to come and browse or buy! Lola her friend from across the street will be bringing her antiques, and next door to Lacey, at the Bakery, Elsie is baking up a storm!
Detective James Briggs stops by Lacey's shop as he is walking a huge goofy looking puppy. He tells tells her that someone had left the dog tied up at the police station, and so now he was trying to find a home for the dog but so far no luck. Of course he hasn't named the dog, he stated as he is not keeping it. On top of this the puppy has been chewing everything up in the police station and at his home, like all young pups are bound to do! Lacey tells James he should just keep and train the dog!
As Lacey and Detective Briggs walk the pup down by the sea, they see 5 artists painting together, and one is a young girl who likes Ryder named Denise, another is Letty, and Ms. Dean who used to teach art at high school is leading the class. They also notice the Lighthouse keeper Marty Tate is out and about and talk to the decades old man. He lets Lacey know the Lighthouse will be open that weekend of the Flea market so anyone can go up in it and look out. Ms. Jodie Dean makes a point of stopping Det. Briggs to say hello as he was a student in her art class in high school. She also mentions she had just seen Dash, Lacey's neighbor, and unfortunately a person Det. Briggs dos not get along with at all, and the feeling is mutual between the two men. This was a mystery Lacey wanted to solve, but no one opened up about. Give her time!
On the way back from the beach they could see all the sellers setting up and they also saw Mayor Price who called Det. Briggs over and totally ignored Lacey who he did not like at all because of her pet crow! The Mayor had tried different routes to make Lacey quit bringing Kingston to town, but so far nothing stood up and so many people liked the crow.
Elsie has been suffering with a bad back, and she finally falls down and everyone heard the crash! They all run to help her. She is distraught as all the baking she did will not be sold as she is unable to get up so Lacey volunteers to sell the cupcakes at the flea market for her! A couple of new to Lacey people are at the flea market the next day, one is a retired chef that is selling all his equipment, and an elderly Lady named Fiona who has cleaned out the attic of her childhood home, and she has all kinds of paintings and old things to sell.
Unfortunately, someone also notices and decides to buy paintings, leaves and comes back and the painting she was looking at has sold! That night after everyone eats at the restaurant that were in the artist class leaves, murder happens!
It is up to Det. Briggs to find out who killed one of their citizens and why. He asks Lacey to go with him, and while they are waiting the body is found right beneath the lighthouse! After the body is taken away, Briggs and Lacey go down to where the body was discovered. Lacey and Briggs team up once again!
Throughout the weekend all kinds of things happen and you will have to read and find out what. There is also other things not related to the crime happening, and Lacey finally gets an answer to a question that had been plaguing her. On the way from the lighthouse someone tries to kill Lacey and she screamed loud enough to be heard and she is rescued by Briggs, who is very upset about the incident.
After this things move fast and you will love how it ends! I loved the plot, the fast paced read, and all the wonderful characters I have come to know and love. These cozy books are so great I can't wait for another one to come out!
I gave this book 5***** awesome stars for a wonderful book I sat and read until I finished, I could not put it down! Although you can probably read as a standalone you will get so much more out of it if you read the series from the beginning. Here is a list of the other four books:
Marigolds and Murder Carnations and Chaos Mistletoe and Mayhem Roses and Revenge all read in this order with Tulips and Trouble as Book Five!
I have to say that I’m just loving the Port Danby Cozy Mystery series and “Tulips and Trouble” is another great installment.
It’s Spring in Port Danby and the town is getting ready for the annual flea market. Lola is upset because one of the town’s elderly patrons is showcasing a myriad of antiques from her attic resulting in competition for her. Meanwhile, Elsievis baking up a storm with lemon and red velvet cupcakes for the event. Unfortunately, her back goes out on her and Lacey agrees to sell them for her instead.
The town has several art students milling about painting various scenes involving the lighthouse and sunsets. One of them, Denise, is a former high school acquaintance of Ryder and definitely wants his attention. Of course Lola is acting as though she doesn’t notice especially since she is dating a real loser of a man. Then, one of the art students goes missing and is later found murdered; so, Detective James Briggs and Lacey team up once again to solve the case. Also, James found an abandoned, mischievous, puppy that he is hoping to find a home for but the pup has other plans.
This read has all of the things I like, great characters, mystery, moments of sheer hilarity and romantic sizzle. What more can I ask for? If you like a good mystery with great quirky characters the Port Danby Cozy Mystery series is the one for you. Start your adventure with book one and enjoy the ride!
Tulips and Trouble is the 5th book in the Port Danby cozy mystery series. This was one of my favorite books thus far. As with many of these stories, this is another seasonal delight!
It’s springtime and as tulips bloom and the town prepares for the annual Flea Market things are looking bright. But when a group of artists who are painting the town’s historic lighthouse, find one of their own missing, all kinds of secrets arise and hostilities surface. We get glimpses into Detective Briggs background, the back-and-forth of Lola’s romantic entanglements, a set-back for Elsie and a furry new friend! I love that way Detective Briggs and Lacy now work together with ease and expectation and their relationship grows slowly, but surely.
This is an interesting mystery, perfectly appealing setting, and a whole host of likable characters we get to form an ongoing relationship with. Port Danby is an utterly charming series, with enjoyable stories and I eagerly look forward to the next in the series.
Ryder, Pinks very able assistant at the florist is busy creating tulip displays and getting together with a friend from years before, who has arrived with her painting group to paint the local lighthouse.
Detective James Briggs meets an old teacher who is leading the painting group, bringing back memories of school. Then one of the painters is murdered, a very talented painter, and it's up to Pink and James to find the killer.
I really enjoy reading the books in this series, I can see it's a series I will re-read time and again.
I absolutely LOVE this series! London Lovett has quickly become one of my favorite authors. She never fails to bring Port Danby and its amazing cast of characters to life. Tulips and Trouble is the fifth book in the Port Danby series, and like the others, I could not put it down. This was the perfect book to bring on my spring break vacation. More of the Port Danby I love, and a new furry sidekick!
awe London Lovett has a winner in this entire series and I want more! Lacey helps detective James Briggs solve another murder case ! I love the addition of the sweet puppy !!! Even though I like Dash I sooo hope that there is a real and serious romantic future for Lacey and James!
I absolutely love this series. I think I would be very happy living in Port Danby! The characters are refreshing and the storylines are clever. I will be eagerly awaiting book 6!
No steamy love making, but enough romance to keep you interested. Special nose is interesting with a lot of science and flower information besides. Mystery unfolds slowly in this one, but plenty of drama and humor to keep reading.
Pink is at it again. This time Pink becomes the target of the murderer. During the Market Festival a local artist goes missing and later turns up dead. Will Pink and Briggs solve the mystery before Pink becomes the next victim?
I love this series!! It has it all flowers, mystery, hint of romance and pets! I especially love the dog in this one. Every time I read a book in this series it is my new favorite and this one was so fun to read and hard to put down!!
The storys just keep getting better and better. Really enjoying the authors writting. She is excellent and telling stories and keeping you in suspense. Really like the relatiobship between the characters too. On to book 6.

Great series, great characters and a quick read during this pandemic. I already have books 6, 7 and 8 on my nightstand ready to go. Love the mysteries!
Things are heating up in the romance department. The plot for this story was interesting, but kind of easy to solve really quickly. And I want the dog!
