Sometimes I Lie / Everything but the Truth
Sometimes I Lie
My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me:
1. I’m in a coma.
2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore.
3. Sometimes I lie.
Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can’t move. She can’t speak. She can’t open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn’t remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from twenty years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it's the truth?
Everything but the Truth
Just how much can you trust the person you love?
It all started with the email.
Rachel didn't even mean to look. She loves Jack and she's pregnant with their child. She trusts him.
But now she's seen it, she can't undo that moment. Or the chain of events it has set in motion.
Why has Jack been lying about his past? Just what exactly is he hiding? And doesn't Rachel have a right to know the truth at any cost?

Sometimes I Lie
By: Alice Feeney
🔥
This one didn't hit the mark for me. There were so many different timelines! & it just seemed to drag on.
🔥
I read this one free from @libby. So, I really cannot complain. & I read that it was this author's debut novel, so clearly grace must be given.
🔥
The many characters were ALL literally so completely unlikable that I found that I was not "rooting" for any of them.

Read this surprisingly quickly considering it was a fairly average read with a lazy plot twist that the reader couldn't predict as it was that ridiculous. I really loved rock, paper, scissors but this book was just silly and pointless and made me not want to read another one of her books.

My rating for this book is 4/5 stars
Ok my first thought was that this book has 3 timelines: before the main character got into a coma, currently during the coma and a diary written in 1992. I had a bit of difficulty to keep up with all the timelines at first as the plot was not making any sense initially, and the stories were all jumbled up. But the more i read, the closer the timelines converge to each other and the story became one cohesive plot. It was really interesting to read.
The twists got me gasping, cursing and hollering for the police. Because what the heck was that?! The moment i thought i had it all figured out, i was proven wrong in the next chapter. For readers who love twisted plots and truths that make you go OMG, you should give this book a go.

WTF was that?! For the whole book i thought Amber was the victim, and Claire was the villain. Even after the accident was revealed, I thought Claire was gaslighting Amber. I thought, Claire was the psycho. NO. They are both psychos 😭 what is this? There isn’t a normal character in this book, besides Paul, and my heart goes out to Paul. I resented him in the first few chapters because I thought he was cheating on Amber. Gosh no. He deserves so much better than this, really 🥹
Edward and David can go to hell. That’s all I’ve got to say.
And Amber.. I thought she was the victim, but “Taylor made me do it” made me get the craziest WHIPLASH. Like what do you mean 😭

I love Alice Feeny and the narrator for her audiobooks (which is a tragedy that I don't know her name). I loved His and Hers, but this came in close. I enjoyed the story line. I did, however, get confused at the end. Alice always includes a twist at the end, but I couldn't quite understand this one.

Another twisty read from this author. I knew what the ending would be, but the way it actually happened surprised me. This book kept my interest more than Rock Paper Scissors throughout. This author writes the best endings!

Enjoyed this book, my first by Alice Feeney. Easy to read with enough twists and turns to maintain your interest. I look forward to exploring her work more.

Thrilling, tightly written, provoking of a visceral outrage and indignation, so consuming is the voice of the story.
With a side of lock-in feverish panic.

Highly disappointed. Had so much potential then a very weird twist that confused me no end.

Normally love AF books but 17% in and I was still utterly bored. Time to bail. Not for me.

It is good, but it’s her first book. She gets better in her writing in her next books. I like her interesting twists. Don’t see things coming.
