The List #2

The Test

Rate this book
This is a test. A test of every life decision Lisa Michaels has ever made.

Lisa thought she’d gotten everything right: The nicest condo, the right career, the best hair, and a perfectly adequate sex life with her stockbroker fiancé. But when the fiancé ditches her at the altar, Lisa’s left questioning every decision she’s ever made. What if her instincts have been steering her wrong all along? And what if she tested that theory by spending one month doing the exact opposite of what she’d normally do?

A crazy-hot fling with a tattooed steelworker from the wrong side of the tracks seems like a good starting point...

The Test is book two in The List series by Tawna Fenske. Tawna is a new to me author and this is one of those times when I’m smacking myself in the forehead and asking, why oh why have I not read anything of hers before. This book is fantastic. It’s so funny it made me snort laugh, while on the treadmill no less. It’s sexy as all heck, and enough swoon worthy moments to make me melt. I loved this book!

Lisa Michaels is thirty one years old and is an interior designer. She has spent her entire adult life building what she thought was the perfect life. But six months ago her perfect fiancé left her at the alter making her question everything. On a night out with her sisters she spots him across the bar, those wide shoulders and piercing eyes. He’s completely the opposite of the type of man she would usually go for. He’s rough around the edges, all brawn and muscles. Maybe she’s been going at life all the wrong way. Maybe she needs to do a test, to do the opposite of what she usually does, try to experience life in new ways. And she can start the test with this hunky man.

sexy on a motorcycle

Dax Kensington has been burned before by hoity toity blondes who thought the world revolved around them. So why can he not take his eyes off the woman in the bar. There’s something about her, something special. When she proposes the test, and a month of no strings hotter than hot sex, he can’t refuse.

“Forget the antiquated triumph of deflowering some simpering virgin. The thrill of devirginizing Lisa with an array of new life experiences beats that hands down.”

camping

Dax and Lisa went into The Test thinking they knew who the other person was. I think that’s the beauty of this book, how wrong they both were. Dax discovered that while Lisa was polished and buttoned up, she was smart, funny, and oh so brave. She went into everything with an enthusiasm that was contagious. But he has to remember, they are from different worlds. Their time together has an ending. He can’t let himself get too attached. That’s what he keeps telling himself anyway.

“He isn’t most guys. In every way possible, in all the best ways, Dax Kensington is not most guys. And somewhere deep down, I know that will make it harder to say goodbye when The Test is done.”

These two were so adorable together. Dax showed Lisa a different side of life. They laughed all the time, and had lots and lots of sexy times. They also let each other in, secrets were shared, souls were bared, and feelings grew.

“Talk dirty to me, Dax. Tell me what you want me to do to you.”

L

I just fell in love with these two, with this book. Lisa wears pearls and high heels and makes her own homemade marshmallows when Dax takes her camping. She’s like her own sunshine, where ever she goes, the light just seems to follow. And Dax, oh my gosh, the guy was sweet and adorable and sexy and, hot and, well, you get the picture.

You just have to read this book. It’s perfect. Now I need to go back and read the first book in the series. I think I’ve found a new author to add to my favorites list. I definitely will be reading more of her books. Just try to keep me away.

My Review:

I smirked and gasped my way through this delightfully naughty and amusingly clever and steamy tale of opposites. The premise was interesting, the storylines were entertaining, the characters were appealing and enticing, and the writing was witty and engaging. And if you just heard someone yell, “Home run!” - that would be me.

Lisa was a fussy and pretentious socialite wannabe who was overly concerned about appearances and having or being the best. However, she felt an itch to sample or “test” the grittier or less refined sides of life, which included experimenting with the many unfulfilled items on her sexual bucket list by going against her instincts and doing the exact opposite of what she had or would have considered doing for the next thirty days. It was to be sex only with no relationship or emotional involvement, and she found the perfect specimen with which to do so.

Dax was a heavily tattooed and dirty-talking hottie whom Lisa had met in a bar, although she had no idea he was also a wealthy and successful business owner, as being a shallow snob, Lisa hadn’t taken the time to look past his delectable and colorfully inked surface. I adored the witty and profane Dax; although I couldn’t quote much of his dialogue as he words were typically laced with obscenities. His sexual dynamics, lubricity, and bawdy banter were some of the many turn-ons for Lisa, who was quickly softening during their association with blooming relationship thoughts working their way in, which wasn't supposed to be part of the plan.

First person, Dual-POV, HAE. Can be read as standalone.

I love my tattooed boys from the wrong side of the tracks. Just mmf.

Another really great addition to the List series by Tawna Fenske.

Both installments seem to follow the same formula - i.e. man and woman enter deal, have crazy (hot) monkey sex, and end up catching feelings before the allotted end date is over - but they haven't stopped keeping a smile on my face, or a flutter in my belly.

Lisa, our first heroine Cassie's sister, is used to a life of luxury. She's crafted herself as the perfect show-woman. Neat, pressed clothes. A knowledge of high-end fashion. But none of those things prevent her lousy ex-fiancee from leaving her at the altar.

Now, months afterward, she's thinking that maybe she's looking for a change. Possibly a fling with a man who's the complete opposite of her ex. She sees him at a bar, muscled and tattooed, and propositions him (albeit, a little awkwardly).

Does it count as false bravado if I really, really want to be the sort of brave, confident, sexy woman who'd bring a tattooed bad boy home for a one-night stand?

Dax has known hardship. A guy who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, living with a disability and with one sibling dead, another in jail and his father gone... he's come a long way. Now a successful business-owner, he's reluctant to spending time with Lisa because she encapsulates everything he's trying to get away from: people who flaunt their money.

But there's something very real and adorable about her, that when she suggests to him a month-long deal of breaking out of her shell, with his help, he can't seem to say no.

I can see it in her eyes. There's a lust-fueled superheroine behind that pearl choker and silk blouse.
"You enjoyed the sex?"
He sputters into his wineglass, then gives me a bemused nod. "Yes. Very much. Are we going to debrief now? Make a spreadsheet to highlight our favorite movies?"

Thus begins The Test: a way for Lisa to do things she wouldn't normally do, with a person she wouldn't normally associate with. But Lisa likes Dax - he's funny, sweet and is a beast in the sack. He convinces her that life isn't just comprised of dollar signs and status.

He allows her to see the real her, and despite them being so different, they enhance each other's lives.

I LOVED Dax as a hero; tough, cares about animals, and does everything in his power to take care of Lisa.

"You have the most amazing butt I've ever seen, and if I don't get my hands on it in the next ten seconds, I'm going to fucking explode."

Not to mention, he's equally as consumed by her as she is with him.

I hope there are going to be more installments to this series. I'd love to see Sarah get her happily ever after.

'Til next time cuties ;)

I have read two books by this author. One I really enjoyed, the other I didn’t. After reading a review of this book by a Goodreads friend, I decided to take a chance. I’m glad I did!

Lisa Michaels is an Interior Designer. She comes from money, enjoys the finer things in life and has a successful career. It’s also fair to say she’s a bit of an uppity snob. She lives in an expensive condo, wears designer clothes, and gets expensive haircuts and mani/pedis. She is extremely persnickety when ordering drinks and food. The kind of person every waiter/waitress hates to serve. She hobnobs with the elite for her business. Her world hits the wall when her stockbroker fiancé leaves her at the altar.

She and her two sisters are having a night out when she spots a big, rough looking, broad shouldered, muscular, very tattooed hottie with a “granite ass” and “icy blue eyes.” The exact opposite of her fiancé. She’s intrigued.

Dax Kensington is a diamond in the rough with a penchant for “polished blondes.” He’s had a difficult life growing up. His mom left when he was little, his dad died three years ago, his sister died of a heroin overdose at 19 and his brother is in prison for armed robbery. He barely graduated high school. His fiancé left him because he wasn’t successful enough. Unfortunately for her, he became extremely successful soon after she left.

Lisa wants a walk on the wild side and decides Dax is her ticket to that. Dax decides what the hell because he isn’t doing relationships any more. Talk about opposites attracting! They surprise each other when they discover their perceptions of the other aren’t exactly spot on.

I laughed out loud several times at their bantering. Yes, they actually spend time talking and getting to know each other! You could see and feel the evolving of their “relationship.” I shook my head at both of them at times. Lisa for her highbrow ways of looking at things and Dax for his inability to let go of his insecurities about being the kid from the wrong side of the tracks. Lots of great sex.

This is a fun, sweet (at times), sexy read.

True story, I was going to read the new Sarah Ballance book, but I had just finished another contemporary English romance so decided to read this instead. But then forgot my decision. So I'm reading this thinking "wow, Sarah has really gone in a different direction with this series!". Anyhoo.

Lisa Michaels is an interior designer in Portland. Her long-term relationship with a wealthy stockbroker ended six months ago when he left her at the altar and she is rethinking her entire lifeplan, lifestyle choices and instincts. Sitting in a hipster bar with her two sisters her eye is caught by a guy the exact opposite of her ex. This guy, Granite Ass as she calls him in her head, is big, muscular, heavily tattooed and wearing jeans and a t-shirt. When he comes over and starts flirting with Lisa she makes a split-second decision to do the opposite of her instincts and, just for once, experience life with a bad boy.

Dax Kensington might look like a biker thug, he might even tell people that he is a steelworker, he most definitely was brought up in a trailer but he has also made a ton of money inventing a steel-walled reusable water bottle. He initially mistakes Lisa for his bitchy ex-girlfriend but hey if this snooty blonde wants to have some kind of revenge sex with a bit of rough he has no objections.

What starts out as a one-night stand walk on the wild side soon morphs into the most intense experience Lisa has ever had, and Dax is nothing like she imagined. So she proposes an experiment, The Test, in which she will do the opposite of her usual choices. Swap a night at the Opera schmoozing potential clients for a night in a biker bar - you get the idea, and she asks Dax if he will help her.

This is a Scorched imprint so there are plenty of smexy times as Lisa and Dax explore her wild side, and yet it is also a sweet romance where Dax and Lisa discover how much they like talking and laughing together, but will either of them have the courage to suggest their relationship could last longer than the 30 day Test? Or are they really too different to have a long term chance?

I was totally engrossed by this sexy yet sweet romance. I see that it is the second in a series but you can totally read this as a stand-alone (having said that, how did I miss the first book?). Dax and Lisa are such likeable characters, I just wanted to grab Dax all to myself.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Talk about an opposites attract story, The Test by Tawna Fenske pairs an interior decorator who feels she must always maintain an upper crust, polished personality with a self made entrepreneur who doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty and whose family is as far from blue blooded as you could expect. However, these two worked and they worked very well together in so many ways despite their differences. The Test was a blend of smoldering sexuality, learning to look beyond first impressions, and exploring boundaries. I loved every minute of this book.

Lisa Michaels knows what she likes and she is particular about every little thing in her life; some might call her a control freak, some a planner, and some an uptight bitch. In reality, Lisa maintains this outer persona because her career demands it and once she gets a taste of the simpler, wilder side of life, I think we begin to see the real Lisa.

I don’t know where to begin with Dax Kensington, but damn the pictures I have in my head about this man (and off the record while the cover of this book is fine, the guy on the cover is not rough enough looking for Dax IMHO). While there is no doubt Dax is incredibly sexy and knows how to treat a woman in bed; he is also a very humble and caring man.

Despite is humble beginning, the fact he grew up in less than ideal circumstances, and he worked hard to stay on the right side of the law, Dax is honest, hard working, and dedicated to helping others. Honestly, I loved this character.

With Lisa getting over a relationship gone badly, she decides she wants to do the opposite of her normal life and Dax agrees to help her test out that theory starting with no strings sex. I enjoyed watching them become more entwined with each other’s lives all while still insisting they were only together for a month until Lisa had tested her theory that she could shake things up in her life. I was surprised by how easily Dax opened up to Lisa about his life and how easily she accepted all sides of him. I thought Lisa showed tremendous growth during this book considering she was a bit judgmental about Dax at the start and while I did love Dax he wasn’t without his own hang ups about “society type” people like Lisa. The fact the both fell for one another despite their prejudices against each other was a testament to how deep their feelings ran.

From the crisp dialog, the sexy times (hello, alley sex), the easy to like characters; The Test was a perfect romance.

Tawna Fenske will have you holding your sides with laughter in The Test.

Lisa Michaels has everything going for her, a great job, a great house, great clients, but what she really wants is to take a ride on the wild side. Dax is just the person to give Lisa’s test a run for it’s money. What starts off as shyness, quickly turns into wild and fun experiences for the both. They learn to grow from one another and realize that it’s what's on the inside that counts. Lisa learns to let her smarts become one of the sexiest things about her, while Dax learns being from the other side of the tracks doesn’t always mean people think you are less than par.

Dax surprises Lisa with just how intellectual he can be even though his upbringing was less than ideal compared to hers. He shows her how much a wolf can be tamed. In the end, the wolf ends the hunt with a few surprises.

You will laugh out loud at the banter between these two from opposite sides of the tracks. Solid five stars.

That good Old line .. we shouldn't judge a book by its cover? Pretty much made for this book.

Lisa can most definitely come across as stuck up, snobby and uptight. It's not purposely done though. What happens when you question every choice you've made?. Well, She jumps head first into the deep end testing all things new and exciting. She's sweet, funny with an almost innocence about her. She opens herself to all things completely opposite to what she'd normally do and I loved that side of her!. She grows as a character flourishing through the story! Not into a different person but a more rounded character.

Dax although a total hottie, was quicker to judge than Lisa. He constantly made assumptions about her regardless of what she said or did. He's a little broken, a lot of cynical with a dash of brooding. He worked his way up to greatness yet still felt like that boy from the wrong side of the tracks who didn't fit in. But I loved him!. His sweet, his bossy alpha granite ass and his cute funny side. It took longer for him to get with the program but when he did it was nice to see him take note that he had his own issues to sort through, take ownership for them and apologise like a man.

They clicked from the start! The chemistry was just palpable. That connection instantaneous. Two completely opposite in everyway characters fit together like a perfect puzzle. I loved the naughty antics they got up to!.. delicious. The sweet moments so freaking good it gave me a toothache and even the times where they clashed a little were interesting. I really enjoyed this story. Seemlessly written at a great pace there's no unnecessary angst or drama just a fabulous romance. All kinds of sweet, sexy and funny. I didn't expect anything less from this author because every book I've read of hers has delivered! This is no different.

I have been a big fan of Tawna Fenske after reading The List last year and could not jump on The Test fast enough. I thought this novel was so delicious and sexy! Lisa and Dax were so hot and scorching and their connection was fantastic. I was hooked from the first page. This novel was laugh out loud funny, panty-melting hot and with great banter. I could not get enough!

When recently jilted Lisa Michaels reflects on her life choices, she realizes that she might have made the wrong decisions in life. She might have had the best things in life but what if her instincts were steering her in the wrong direction? Maybe she needed to do the opposite of everything she would nornally do as the best clients, the "perfect stockbroker" fiancé and the finer things in life all left her feeling unfulfilled and unsatisfied. Enter Dax Kensington. One look at the crazy hot tattooed steelworker from the wrong side of the tracks and she realizes maybe she needs a fling with this badboy to "Test" out her theory. Hellllllo Fireworks!!

I thought this novel was fantastic. I enjoyed the way both Dax and Lisa looked past their preconceived notions about each other and embraced the other's true character. I enjoyed their scorching chemistry and how through this "Test" they both were able to see past their facades.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Sometimes when things keep going wrong for you, you have to reevaluate your way of doing things - just in case it is your own fault! That’s just what Lisa Michaels has decided to do. In fact she’s decided to strive to do the opposite of what she would normally do for just a month, to see if this has a more positive impact on her life and romantic encounters. That leads to her proposing a month of no strings sexual encounters to Dax Kensington during which she’ll explore what life is like not following the rules!

This is a story of first impressions being so wrong, of a couple going into a time limited relationship with no long term expectations but love finding a way for them. The story has plenty of humour but lots more steamy sexual encounters. Don’t expect things to happen behind closed doors in this scorching hot, explicit story! Actually, some of the time in this novel I thought the sexual encounters detracted from the actual plot and meant I the character development was somehow lacking. As I said for the first story in this series, if you like your novels packed with explicit sexual romps and a heartwarming romance, you’ll probably love this.

I requested and received a copy of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Lisa thought she had the perfect life, until her fiance left her at the altar and her reality changed. She can't help but question everything about herself and her life, as well as her ability to make decisions. She obviously picked the wrong man regardless of how right she thought he was, so she gets the bright idea to test herself. For one month she'll do everything completely opposite than how she would normally choose.

A sexy, tattooed steelworker seems the ideal choice for her experiment. Add in that he's from the wrong side of town and let the testing begin. You see, Lisa grew up on the right side, with a wealthy family, and her seemingly gifted life has made her and her sisters a little snobby. But, sticking with someone with her type of background went terribly wrong, so she's ready to try differently.

Dax has had a rough life. He grew up poor, was looked down upon because of where he lived, and his mom left him, his siblings, and their dad as soon as she could. He and the remaining family made the best of what they had, but again, Dax was hit hard, three times. His dad died, his sister overdosed, and his brother is in jail for robbery. Now, Dax is alone, though no longer poor thanks to an invention he created due to his amazing welding skills. However, he prefers not to socialize with the "it" crowd. He knows how fake they can be, and that if it wasn't for his money now, they would never have anything to do with him.

When Dax and Lisa meet, their chemistry is mutual and instantaneous. Dax is intrigued by her idea of testing herself and agrees to help. They quickly learn they have more in common than an attraction. They have great conversations, can laugh together, and can relate to one another in numerous aspects. As they spend more time with each other, their connection grows in so many ways. They may seem like they don't fit, yet they do.

But, what happens when Lisa's month of experimenting is over? Will Dax confess the truth about his current situation? Can these two make a temporary arrangement a permanent relationship? Is a HEA possible?

One-click now and follow along as two people meet for all the wrong reasons and yet they're so obviously meant to be together.

What can I say about this book? I freaking loved it. Tawna hits this one so far out of the park...
Lisa and her sisters are having drinks at some craft cocktail bar, Lisa is trying to blow off her sisters comments about her being left at the altar some six months prior by a dickless wonder, while wedding chatter ensues the elder sister is getting married in a few months.

Lisa becomes distracted by a man at the bar who she describes as having a well chiseled abs, two fully tatted arms and is huge. When he catches her staring, he suddenly finds himself sitting next to her making conversation. So unlike him, so unlike her. But Lisa had just decided that she needed to start doing the opposite of what she would normally do. That said, she stands up and takes this man Dax home with her. Lisa is wound way to tight. She's so bound up by doing the right thing, fussing over little things and by all means appearances. Dax, unbeknownst to Lisa has just made a fortune developing a cup made from steel that is double insulated. Dax has his own history and still thinks of himself as the boy from the other side of town, poor, abusive drunk father and the unworthy. Despite his success. His relationship with Lisa helps him see things differently. She calls this the Test. Kind of throws out there that maybe they could do this for a month and he'll teach her to challenge herself to do things she normally wouldn't do. Hot damn, the chemistry between these two was insane. I loved how they learned little bits about each other, Dax volunteering at the dog rescue and Lisa rising to his challenges, despite her penchant for high heels. He loved her brain and wit, she loved his compassion and talent. There was so much between these two to love. The story had a nice flow and I felt like I was sailing right along with them in it. Especially when the crap hit the fan. I just made a face at that one. Yeah, not happy. Dax for one thing Lisa didn't know totally blew himself out of the water and left Lisa there to save herself.
I really wasn't sure there would be any coming back from that one. Clearly you know Dax and Lisa belong together, but who knows what will become of this mess Dax made. Gotta read the book to find out.

The book is a must read and as usual Tawna never disappoints. I'd give it 10 stars.

Opposites attract in this sexy cute story. Lisa is a interior designer who was recently left at the alter. She self describes herself as pretentious and predictable. She needed a change and wanted to spice up her life. Dax is a big tattooed hunk of a man. A first sight he is the opposite of any man Lisa as ever dated. they come up with The Test. Lisa will do things without overthinking and opposite of anything she would normally do. That includes inside and outside of the bedroom. I loved both characters and had fun with all their adventures. Even though Lisa tried new things, she still was Lisa. The camping adventure says it all. Dax had secrets and self doubts that he allowed to get the best of him at times. Lisa and Dax although opposites had a lot in common. Great story with believable characters.

After reading "The List" and loving it, i got super excited when i found that not book two was coming (soon), but also that it would be about the put-together Lisa and someone that would for sure turn her world upside down.
And mine too, mind you. 💗
I guess my weakness for #BadBoys is showing.

Dax did it so.freaking.well.
Both he and Lisa were great surprises, but Dax won a very special place in my heart. 😍

Five stars are not enough to rate this book. I need AT LEAST two more.
I lost count of how many highlights I made.
This one was so much fun!

Lisa and Dex's story has everything: love, second chances and oh so naughty bits. And I mean ALL the naughty bits.
😈

Please Tawna Fenske tell me Sarah will have a book and a boo of her own.
I think it's just fair.
Plus, I would get another #BookBoyfriend out of it too. Win-Win.
Oh, and let us not forget Paul. He deserves a lady in his life too.
Maybe a two-for-one kind of thing.
Paul...Sarah... See what I did there?
Wink. Wink. Nudge. Nudge. Say no more.
Please let us meet this gang of fun and awesome peeps again....

P.S.: thank you for Dax Kensington. Again. Hawwwwwt. 😈

Forced to rethink her life at the most inopportune of times, Lisa discovers that success does not always breed happiness. The Test is one woman's quest to sync her mind and heart to all the possibilities. Sometimes, the road less traveled is the path where we're meant to be. Ms. Fenske delights with true to life characters who are easy to empathetize with and hard not to fall for. There's a piece of every reader in her clueless characters and heartwarming stories.

“I needed to break out of my shell. To try new things. I never realized that until I met you.”

The Test is one of those books I feel like could have gone either way—a hot mess, or a hot, messy, sexy, simmering love story.

Guys, it’s definitely number two. Hands down. In the care of Tawna Fenske—who always seems to write the exact book I want at the exact moment I want it—Dax and Lisa’s story was perfection. Sexy, you betcha. Seriously, that alley scene? I may never recover from it . . . And funny? Absolutely—a blend of awkward moments and flirty back-and-forths that are more foreplay than playful at times. I mean, nerdy welding and history dirty talk, who knew?!

Smokin'

But it’s more than that. As is often the case with Ms. Fenske, her humor and heat hide a depth that is rewarding, engaging and topical. In this case, the value of self, and what it means to be who you are, with no apologies. For Lisa and Dax, that discovery *comes* (heh, pun intended—did you really think it wouldn’t be?!) with a tension and an emotion that kicks the ol’ heart rate up a notch or five.

The Test tested the limits of my ability to smile and swoon and get really flippin’ frustrated at characters that I just wanted to see believe in themselves and their choices. In a good way, FYI. Needless to say, now I’m done, my cheeks are hurting from the grin I sported through the very last page, and my heart is light. As it should be after reading something so perfectly messy, sexy and real.

“Pretty sure that’s the first time anyone’s said scurvy to me during sex.”
“How about blunderbuss?”

ARC provided through NetGalley for review.

At the end of The List, book 1 in the series, Lisa, one of Cassie's older sisters, was left at the alter by her fiancé.

It's been several months and while out with her sister, Lisa decides to go against her normal instincts and picks up a tattooed, muscle bound guy she meets in a bar. She decides it's time to have a one night stand with a stranger.

Dax, saw Lisa from across the bar and thought she was his snobby ex. But when he got closer, he realized his error. So when the hot blonde propositions him, he's not willing to walk away.

After a night of hot sex, Lisa proposes a month long test for herself and asks Dax if he would be willing to help her out. She wants to go against her habits of doing the things she should do, and instead take risks and do things differently. He agrees to her terms of no-strings sex in exchange for his help.

But these two people, who both looked at each other with preconceived notions, realize that the other is more than meets the eye. And what they see, they both like.

I thought this was really cute. Second book by Tawna Fenske that I've read and really enjoyed. Cute and fun. Will definitely read more by this author.

Every decision that Lisa Michaels has ever made has been based on the expectations placed on her, there is not really a time when she can remember making a choice for herself, and now that she has been dumped at the altar she is starting to realize maybe it was the wrong approach all along. She has never really done anything because she wanted to, it was always what was proper, never once being brave or daring. So she starts to think maybe she needs a little reboot of sorts, do things on a whim, say yes when she would normally say no, and take a little walk on the wild side. So when she spots an handsome tattooed guy at the bar, she decides to be a little brave and invite him to come home with her, it's so uncharacteristic of her, and yet it tickles her a little to do something totally out of the norm! And from there her brave little adventure continues to heat up!

This was such a pleasurable read, it had moments that inspired, moments that made me blush, and moments that squeezed my heart... definitely one of my favorites from this author! It was so fun to watch Lisa step out of her comfort zone, embrace this new side to herself and push the boundaries a little... and really fun to watch her explore her chemistry with Dax! I enjoy a good opposites attract tale every now and then, and I have to admit this one ranked high amongst my favorites, it was a fresh and engaging take on the trope. It was really hard to put this one down once I cracked the cover, these amazing characters pulled me into their world, had me mesmerized in a matter of minutes, and wanting to stick around to see if they had what it took to go the distance. Such a great read!! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, these two are sure to keep you captivated from start to finish!

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical when I read who the heroine of this book was going to be. Lisa came off as snobby and a bit annoying in The List, so I thought I’d have a difficult time connecting with her. I really should have known though since this is Tawna Fenske we’re talking about…she isn’t going to steer me wrong. And she didn’t. Lisa is as fun and likeable as her sister and although we don’t have much in common, I still felt like I could be her…I understood her.

I love the idea of doing things that were completely opposite of one’s instinct. Especially for someone like Lisa who spent her entire life living a really prim and proper existence. It was fun to watch her open up and get a bit wild. And it was really awesome getting to watch her do that with Dax. They have so much chemistry and Tawna definitely knows how to bring the heat with her characters. These two are ridiculously combustible, I thought my Kindle might melt.

This book was sexy, sweet and funny. Definitely adding it to my re-readable list along with The List. I can’t wait for the next book. I hope Sarah is going to get her own book. That poor girl needs some lovin’.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The test is the second stand alone book in The list series. There is no need to have read the previous book to understand what is happening in this one. It was funny in some parts and I liked reading it, but I had a couple of problems with it. I felt like I only got to know the characters in a superficial way. We learn a couple of things about their pasts, but nothing is explored very deeply. Dax had some issues and it took us too much time to find them out. Lisa's behavior was sometimes unpredictable and it was coming out of the blue. I don't understand why she was making fun of Dax for wanting to bid on a specific item. It wasn't a joke that people who are in a relationship make. It felt mean. Dax is a better character than Lisa. I liked him and he is one the reasons I am recommending the book. The writing wasn't bad, but I wanted some character development.

Dax and Lisa could not be more opposites. Dax comes from the other side of the tracks and Lisa comes from a wealthy family but the instant attraction they both share could not be fought regardless of their background. I enjoyed reading about Dax and Lisa and their journey of exploring each other and pushing each other out their comfort zone. I kind of got tired of Dax’s insecurities but I guess I can understand him since he had a tough childhood. Overall this was a fun read.

***I was given this ARC by NetGalley as an exchange for an honest review.

Needing a break from more darker reads this one fits the bill. This author knows how to write a romance that tingles you from head to toe. You have Lisa who is thrown off of what she thought she was going with making her do different. Switching it up is fun once in a while but in here you get to see what it causes especially when she runs into Dax. Between melting when reading about him and paying attention to what goes on with them this author has the recipe for a good ole romance that curls the toes.

I can't believe it, but I actually enjoyed this book? Lately every time I pick up a book that's a companion novel I end up disliking it or even DNFing it, but not this one??
It follows one the sisters from the first one and it's actually cute, sweet and A LOT steamy!
I love that they brought back the characters from the first and gave them a bit more screen time, but at the same time they didn't overpower the main couple with side/past characters which I feel sometimes happens in these kinds of "series".
Overall really happy to have read it and hope the third one feels the same!

4.5 stars. This book was a bit rough around the edges, but for some reason I just LOVED it! The MCs are awesome, they have such a cute relationship. And they don't behave the way you expect. This book felt like it had all the things you love, but injected with life and something new. While it's not perfect, it's fun, sexy, flirty, smart and all-around amazing.

This book was completely safe.

Well hot--and I do mean HAWT--damn, what a wild ride. I'm always a fan of opposites attract and these two are the fun "never would've put those together" variety. They absolutely bring out the best in each other, and it was a delight getting to see the other side of Lisa Michaels. Two thumbs up!

4 stars!
I enjoyed this book! Sometimes, I think I need to try doing the opposite of that I should be doing to see what would happen in life. That is exactly what Lisa does under the guidance of Dax. This was a fun read. My firs from this author and it won't be my last!
