Sean Willis knows the difference between right and wrong. Sure, the bass player of Three Ugly Guys has made his share of mistakes, but when push comes to shove, Sean always chooses the high road. Now, even when things are unraveling with the band, he's the voice of reason.

Until Jess.

She's the only thing he's ever wanted and couldn't have. Not only is she his new roommate, but her boyfriend is the newest addition to 3UG. She's more than off limits, she's a temptress with her unaltered beauty and gentle spirit.

Jessica Moore has never been the center of anyone's world. In fact, she's familiar with being forgotten. Not too tall, not too pretty, not too smart; she's just Jess. No stranger to scraping by for survival, she finds shelter in Coy Wright, a musician with dreams bigger than life. But when Coy skyrockets to stardom, Jess is thrust into a world in which she doesn't belong.

That is, until she discovers an unexpected friendship. Sean treats Jess as someone special, important, and worthy of love. The feelings and desires he stirs within are dangerous, because despite Sean's kindness and affection, she's forever loyal to Coy.

What happens when doing the wrong thing feels right?

Jess and Sean's friendship is put to the test, along with alliances in the band. Is love enough to derail their best laid plans, or will selfishness throw everyone's success off track?

DERAILED can be read as a standalone or begin with Trent's story in DETOUR.

{I received this as an ARC in exchange for an Honest Review}
This was such an amazing story! Filled with heart-break and longing. A forbidden romance between and rock star and his bandmates girl. This was such a great rock star romance. I couldn’t put it down I read it in one day. It pulled me in and wouldn’t let me go! This deals with serious issues and it is all written perfectly. I love this book! This book has so much angst! I love Sean and Jess!

“Jess might be gorgeous, and I might feel something for her- a pull I can’t explain- but I have no intention of going after her.”

Sean is such a sweetheart! Seriously he is so wonderful!! I love him so much! He isn’t one of those full of himself rock stars. He is down to earth and really sweet. He cares so much and loves with all his heart! He knows that he shouldn’t want Jess. She is dating his bandmate so that makes her off limits. It still doesn’t stop him from thinking about her all the time. It doesn’t stop him from seeking her out and wanting to spend time with her. The more he gets to know about her the more he falls for her. He sees the good in her and he can’t understand why she would stay with someone like Coy (his bandmate). He wants to be the one who gets to love and protect her always.

“You look beautiful tonight. You’re as pretty in jeans and a T-shirt, too, but you need to know these socialites don’t hold a candle to your beauty.”

Jess is with Coy has been forever. When he gets his chance to become a rock star she is so happy for him. When he moves into the “Three Ugly Guys” house she goes with him. She is nervous about this new life. She is scared that Coy with grow and leave her behind. She needs him. Coy takes every opportunity to remind her that he can’t leave her behind because she wouldn’t survive without him. (I HATE COY!!!) She believes him and all the hatful things he says to her because of her past. Coy saved her and she believes he loves her.( He doesn’t) Being in this new house and environment is lonely. Sean comes along and talks to her. She knows Coy wont like her talking to him but she can’t bring herself to stop. She likes spending time with Sean and they way he makes her feel. Sean may be really sweet to her and he may be her friend she can’t risk Coy finding out. Coy saved her and he is the only one who could ever love her or want her. Sean doesn’t know her past she isn’t good enough for him.(She thinks, my poor baby she is so good enough for him) None of that really stops her from wanting Sean not even Coy.

“Don’t waste another someday.”

This book was amazing! The romance was slow-burning and so wonderful. On top of the wonderful romance this book had such great character growth. I thought Sean and Jess were such an amazing couple! This story was heart breaking and so raw and so wonderful. It seriously broke my heart but managed to out it back together. Jess is an amazing character who has real issues that she has to deal with. Sean is an amazing character who is sweet and kind and wants to help. This book was so GOOD!! I love it! I can’t wait for more books in this series

“I can’t love anyone other than her. My heart chose Jess from the beginning, before she was mine to love.”

P.S. I LOVE this cover!! It is so Hot!! I Love Sean on the cover and that Jess is one the back!! It is so perfect!!

Derailed is a wonderful read. A well written book that has a beautiful, emotionally moving storyline. The characters are complex and engaging. Jess is such an amazing character and her story is sure to break your heart. Sean is just a genuine great guy. Together these two create a couple that is perfect for each other, impossible not to fall in love with and make you wish with your whole heart for a HEA for them. This is a book that deals with hard issues and as in life things are very rarely just black or white, but many shades of gray. I'm posting an honest, voluntary review after reading an advance copy of this book.

Wow, where do I start my review after reading this incredible book? Derailed is the 2nd book in the Off Track Records series, a rockstar romance series. If I thought Detour was an excellent book, Derailed is even better! This was such an emotional packed read, I needed a few tissues to get me through this one.

Jess is such a beautiful broken girl. Her story is so incredibly heartbreaking, I teared up more than once during her story. Sean is such a sweetheart! I loved his character so much, he is swoon worthy. The love he has for people is outstanding and he isn’t afraid to show it. He isn’t your usual arrogant rockstar, always drunk and out with women. I adore Sean and Jess together! Their feelings for each other are seen right from the start, I loved the anticipation of wondering what might happen next between them. Every character in this novel was so beautifully written, In fact this whole story was so well written. However, I disliked Coy VERY much! I loved that the storyline contained real life issues, a lot of these issues are usually swept under the rug or hidden from us. These issues should be talked about, and I loved that Kacey has included them in her story. The book brought so much emotion out of me, I cried more than once. Tissues were definitely needed after chapter 26!! I seriously can not wait for Austin’s story, in fact I need it right now! If you haven’t read a book from Kacey as yet, or if you haven’t read this series, you need to go out and grab them now! You need Kacey’s incredible writing in your life, you NEED this series! I can not wait for more!

With Derailed, Kacey Shea takes us back to the rock star lives of the 3 Ugly Guys band which was first seen in Detour. This time bassist, Sean is the one in the spotlight. Easy going Sean takes a big hit to his conscience when drummer Iz collapses on stage and is sent to rehab. Things don't get better when the band's manager puts them on house arrest lockdown and needing to finding a new drummer only a few months before their summer tour doesn't make it any better. Especially when a doe-eyed beauty, catches his eye but turns out to be the new drummers girlfriend.

Kacey Shea takes on a heartbreaking and difficult issue in Derailed. Jess is the girlfriend of drummer Coy. She is a devoted and ever pleasing woman to a man who is way far less than a good guy. Jess' past, unfortunately defines her and she is incapable of seeing what is right in front of her. A truth that she denies even as it hurts her. This story will be a bit difficult for a portion of readers. It all depends on where that fine line between what you consider cheating and what is not. In my opinion, Ms. Shea handled the situation with compassion and the stark reality that the world is full of greys, not just black and white. At times, I was frustrated with that reality. When other characters turned a blind eye or shrugged off what they knew to be true, it was a tough pill but it was one of those stark realities of life. This is a story that could easily be someone's life, written with the truth that people aren't perfect. That we all deal in different ways and that sometimes the hardest thing we will ever do is be honest with ourselves.

Ms. Shea has written a well balanced story that faces the harder issues but also allows for humor, hope and just the right bit of steam. A story that you should set aside your reading "hard limits" for.

"Don't waste another someday."
This was my seventh novel by Kacey Shea and I just can't get enough o her! I am having such a hard time disliking any main character she throws at me but I wouldn't have it any other way! My heart will always belong to Tate but Sean has definitely given him a run for his money on this one. (If you don't know who Tate is yet, then you need to get to reading Kacey's novels asap!)
Anyway, this is the second book that follows the band members from Three Ugly Guys, but the best thing about all of them is that they can be read as standalones! I've said this before but I can't stop appreciating the fact that all of these guys may be as close as brothers but the differences between their personalities is so obvious that I don't even need the novel to specify who spoke a certain quote. It's something I appreciate beyond anything else and it makes me absolutely excited for the next book following this group of men. Their dynamic is one of my most favorite things to witness and this book brought everything to a whole new level on that department.
This novel follows Sean, the TUG's bassist, as he falls for another man's girl, Jess. I fell for them very quickly as individuals, but they blew me away as a duo.
My heart ached for Jess even before I had the chance to find out about her past. The pain and sorrow radiated so intensely from her that I felt it seeping off the page. It was pretty brutal reading from her point of view due to the things she has experienced was still experiencing as the book progressed. I just want to point out that Jess is one of the best main characters I've ever read about and I think she could be an amazing role models to readers everywhere. I hope readers take a page from her book (literally) whenever they find themselves struggling with loving themselves.
I'll have to take my own advice on that one for sure.
I couldn't get enough of Sean so it's his fault that I finished this book a A LOT sooner than I expected to. I refused to put this book down and ended up reading it in just a few hours. Sean has a tremendous heart and one of the best morals a man could have. I loved being inside his head and experiencing his deep affection and respect he has for those he loves first hand. He tries his hardest to do the right thing and he always made me proud with the way he handled himself.
I seriously wish authors handled relationships in books the way Kacey did in this novel more often. It was handled so beautifully that my heart swelled 8 times its size cause of how proud I was. I should probably get it checked out but for now I'll just bask in the glory that is a perfectly executed romance. I will now compare every relationship I read about to Sean and Jess. Those two were too cute for words. Their physical chemistry was off the charts and their hearts spoke volumes about their emotional compatibility. If those two aren't the embodiment of the perfect relationship, (that they worked hard for) I don't know what is. They deserve all the happiness life can offer.
I don't know if this will be considered a spoiler but skip this paragraph if you don't want to take a chance: I am unbelievably delighted of the fact that they didn't rush head first into a relationship but decided to give each other space in order to work on themselves first. God. I still can't believe how perfect this execution was. I rarely see it in books and it was glorious to experience it as a reader. I actually don't think I've ever seen it before. If I have, I can't remember.
I do want to include a few trigger warnings for many forms of domestic violence and substance abuse. This book touches upon some other very dark topics but I don't want to give much away so please be warned before starting this novel. If you don't think you are in the right mind set for it, this book will still be there when you are.
It was such a bittersweet moment when I reached the end but it was so worth it. Especially with a last chapter like that. It melted me into an unrecognizable pile of goo and brought happy tears to my face.
This book teaches readers that no matter how ugly and dark your past may derail your happiness, there will always be time for you to bounce back stronger than ever.

4.5 Stars!

Man, I loved this book!

The guys of 3UG are back and it is Sean's turn to be front and center. The sexy bassist will steal your heart, so watch out!

There is so much I want to tell you, but I really can't without spoiling and I just don't want to ruin this book for you! The book is emotional. It deals with some pretty tough topics, but I must commend Kacey Shea on how she wrote this. Jess and Sean's story is beautiful and difficult and it will grab hold of your heart. Sean is quite near perfect and Jess is one you will find yourself rooting for.

So emotional, this book is a must read!

This book stole my heart. Simple as that. DERAILED was my first book by Kacey Shea and it surpassed, and crushed every thing I look for in a book. Jess and Sean’s story dealt with some heavy topics—some I didn’t expect—but Kacey did a brilliant job with both the topics, and bringing the authenticity and care these characters deserved.

I love the fact that Jess and Sean’s relationship was built on much more than just an initial physical attraction. They built a friendship first and foremost. Sean was warm-hearted, understanding, protective, and patient, especially when it came to Jess. He’s so far from your typical rock star.

Jess’ story is tough. It’s tragic and scary. I wanted her to fight back so much, but I know in situations like her’s, that’s not always the case. However, her strength and tender nature had me cheering for her the entire time. Hoping she’d get her happy ending—because if anyone deserved it, it was her.

DERAILED is nothing like your usual rock star romance. Kacey left me completely captive to the sweet, genuine romance and emotional depth within this story.

I was really looking forward to reading about Sean since he was introduced in Detour. I’m glad his book was second. It didn’t disappoint. Although all the members of the band are essentially nice guys Sean has a huge heart and I love the interaction with his family. Jess’ story is heartbreaking and unexpected. This is a well written book with a sensitive subject. I enjoyed this one a little more than Detour. The story and characters captured my interest more. Definitely read this story about Sean and Jess even if you haven’t read Detour. But reading Detpur first does give you a lot of background into Sean that is important to understand his character and how he’s different from the other guys.

Lots of angst and fantastic writing. Kacey Shea is another new-to-me author and I really enjoyed the emotional ride! Sean, you are one hot Ugly Guy ;)!! Jess's story broke my heart at times, but I love the way Sean lifted her up. Without giving anything away, there was one character I HATED and wanted to rip his balls off. Overall, Derailed was a an emotional ride and I'm looking forward to reading more of Kacey Shea's books!

I freaking LOVE this series! I loved Trent's book, and I love Sean's book even more!

I was thinking about how I was going to write this review before I even finished the book. I want to be able to convey to you how amazing it is, but I feel like I don't have the words to describe how much I loved this book.

She writes Jess perfectly! She is able to really convey what it's like for a girl in an abusive relationship. Jess always blames herself, but she shines bright at any sort of affection Coy gives her. That character is just P E R F E C T.

Sean is perfect too. He's my favorite out of the three. He's more soft spoken and reserved, but he knows how to love. Sean is just amazing and sweet and I can't get enough of him.

I loved how Sean and Jess don't get together right away. We really have to wait to see them get together. As the reader, you're yearning for them to just run and jump into each others arms, but that takes a while.

This book really reminds me of the Thoughtless Series by SC Stephens. If you've read that and liked it, then definitely read this book!

I can't wait for Austin's book, because I'm so excited to see what he's doing when he acts all shady.

**Warning! This review contains spoilers!!**

This book contains triggers like cheating and abuse.

I have total mixed feeling in this book. I usually hate cheating...period. That was until I read Jess and Sean's story. Coy is the new drummer for Three Ugly Guys and he is suddenly a member of a world famous rock band. He moves into the 3UG'd house and bring his girlfriend Jessy. What no one knows when they move in, is that Coy is emotionally and physically abusive to Jess. It doesn't take long for Sean to take notice of it though. Jess has had a hard life and had to do things she's not proud if in order to survive but Coy came and rescued her from it. She feels so indebted to him that she feels like the abuse is her fault. After one night where Coy abuses Jess, Sean decides he done hiding his feelings for Jess. They have an amazing night but I'm order to save Sean from Coy's wrath, Jess sacrifices herself and goes back to Coy. Can Jess get away from Coy without getting Sean hurt?

Ok, so in the middle of the book when Trent and Austin realize that Jess is being abused in the hoise, they do NOTHING!! In fact, Trent tells Sean to basically mind his own business because they need a drummer in the band. Um, hello! I totally lost all respect for them. They finally step in from keeping Coy from killing Jess but only after Trent's mom Deb steps in and Coy disrespects her. Yes, after the fact they tell Jess that they'll protect her but where was that protection the first time she ended up with a black eye and bruises?! Trent and Austin should have helped Sean protect Jess the first time she showed up with bruises.

I'm so happy to bring this and the rest of my Off Track Records novels to audio.
Jason Clarke has such range and his ability to create distinctive character voices and maintain them throughout blows me away. He takes on Sean's character with such heart and is the perfect compliment to the female POV chapters.
Emma Wilder steals the show with her gutting performance. She portrayed Jess's vulnerability, brokenness, and in the end strength and growth. My heart was racing at the intensity of it all and I am so grateful she took on this project!
If you love an emotional, gripping love story and outstanding narration, then I think you're going to enjoy this book.

Jessica Moore a young woman accustomed to going without, happy to be the cheerleader for the dreams of others. Her boyfriend knows this and swoops in taking full advantage, leaving her feeling beholden, starving, and yearning for attention he'll never provide.

Sean Willis plays for the team. He believes in his band and each member. The blood runs deep and he won't break those ties. However, his new bandmate arrives with a lifestyle and moral code that sends warning flags up from the start. Sean can deal with a jerk but his girlfriend a sweet thing inside and out creates a bit of a challenge for Sean and his own family code of ethics.

Kacey Shea pens the heart of a hero and the fair maiden nicely in Derailed. Sean the rock star plays the roll on stage, but his head and heart behave different out of the spotlight. He feels for the situation Jess finds herself in and he knows a snake in the grass when he sees one. Shea sprinkles the right amount of vim and vigor into Sean making him a hero every reader roots for. On the other hand, Jess fights for everything she works for, and the need to make the world root for her once in her life keeps her spirit alive. She knows the higher road, but Shea creates her in a way the audience sits hand in hand with Jess on her journey. Sean and Jess are a must read!

I have never been so nervous in my life for a character; I honestly can't say when was the last time that someone getting hurt in a book got to me because Coy was just so normal. And Jess was so relatable. This was not an outrageous plot and because it was simple and so complex at the same time, I couldn't get away from it's pages. You know when you watch a movie and you know the bad guy is coming and you scream at the victim, WALK AWAY!! that's how I felt about Jess every time they went into their room, I would scream RUN RUN RUN. Sean and Jess is the result of what happens when you stop pretending that life doesn’t happen to you and start realizing that asking for help makes you human. I give 5 stars to this story that played with the heartstrings of my heart and that soared. PS: Kudos to Sean for not wanting to rush into a relationship but allow Jess to find her headspace after an abusive relationship... and help her built the most important relationship she will ever have: the one you have with yourself.

Coy the douche canoe....

Ok first off I caught myself wanting to throw my kindle. Let me tell you why in one word "Coy"!! I did not like his character at all. Then for Jess to take everything he dished out just ticked me off!! That Girl needs some serious work on herself. Thank gosh for Sean. This book made me mad for Iz the former drummer too. I mean why didn't his fellow bandmates have his back more?? That upset me and again thank gosh for Sean. This ended up being a good addition to the series overall.

Wow, I loved Jess and Sean's story, it was not a easy journey. I haven't hated a character in a book in long time, Coy made me so angry, I wanted to get rid of him. Jess has been through a lot and it has left an impact on her, however, when she meets Sean, all bets are off. She learns to acknowledge her strength and dreams. Sean had me swooning from the beginning. He is a pillar of strength and compassionate, which Jess needs. I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story, see them evolve, and wanted more of Sean and Jess.

I have never felt so angry while reading a book as I did Derailed. I seriously hated Coy. He had some endearing qualities a very few times, but for the most part, he was self centered. My heart broke for Jess, as her personality and her past were slowly revealed.
Now with all that said, DERAILED IS MY FAVORITE OF THE 3 Ugly Guys group! The heart, emotions and the caring for each other solidifies their brotherhood. They aren’t just a boy’s rock-n-roll band, but true friends, which is tested in Derailed. Sean has edged in to be my favorite of the 3 Ugly Guys. He’s darn near a perfect book boyfriend!
The shocker thrown in near the end had me thrown for a loop. YIP! Derailed is my favorite and I wasn’t ready for it to end! Can there be love for Austin? Could there possibly be more to come? I sure hope so!

Oh my goodness after devouring Detour back in May I just knew that I needed to get my hands on Sean's story right away because I absolutely loved his character in the first book in the Off Track Records series! Of course the wait was certainly well worth it and I couldn't put the book down until I finished it because I found myself falling more and more in love with these characters.

Derailed by Kacey Shea will take readers on an emotional journey and will leave them on the edge of their seats in anticipation from start to finish. This story gives readers all the feels with that heart wrenching feeling in the pit of your stomach until the very end! My head is still reeling hours after devouring this beautifully captivating read and there are so many deep layers to this story that will warm a readers heart inside and out.

While I have so many thoughts and emotions running through my head about this book, I just don't feel that I fully express them without giving away some essential aspects of the storyline. That is something I definitely wouldn't want to do because this book needs to be experienced firsthand!

Seriously I am so honored to have been given the chance to read this story and I cannot help but recommend this 5+ star read! Kacey Shea you have outdone yourself this time and I am so excited to see what the next in the series has to hold!

Derailed is one of those books that just takes hold of you from the very first page. You jump in and don’t look back. I actually, read this throughout the night and stayed up way past my bedtime. All Kacey’s fault!

Jess and Sean’s story isn’t an easy one. It’s not an easy romance. Jess has her past demons that she can’t seem to run away from. But the primary thing holding her back is her douchebag boyfriend Coy. I connected with Jess on a personal level, that might be why this book took hold of me. I loved that Jess and Sean took their time in the end. She had the freedom to figure out her life. That’s exactly what she needed in the end.

Shea writes these incredible stories, and the way she’s able to draw the reader in is pretty amazing. I think a lot of readers, might feel why Jess is so weak? And why doesn’t she just escape when she can? When in reality, you need that push to finally get away, face those hard decisions and come out of it scarred but can heal.

Overall, I give this Five Boundless Stars.

"These bandmates are my chosen brothers and we'll get through this next challenge. Together. I have no doubt."

I absolutely loved the first book in this series Detour. I'm a sucker for a good rockstar series and Kacey Shea just keeps delivering the goods. When I saw the next book in Off Track Record series was coming out, I jumped at the chance to review. But let me tell you Shea is at her best with Derailed. I've read several of her works but something about this book struck gold with me. Everything about this book. The characters. The story. Their relationship. It's so RAW and REAl.

"At my boyfriends biggest audition, and having a weird staring contest with the bassist for his new band. It felt like a connection, but that's stupid. All in my head. That thing, whatever it was, with Sean Willis, wasn't more than a curious look."

Derailed follows the story of Sean and Jess. These two will hold your heart until the very end and then demand to keep ahold of it. Which I was perfectly fine, letting them have it because they did. Jess doesn't think she deserves much. Coming from the life she had before her boyfriend Coy, she knows she will never live up to much. She lives her life side by side with her boyfriend and when he gets an audition for 3UG, she's stocked. Jess knows this is exactly what he wants and what he's been trying for for years. This could be his make or break moment.

When he gets the job as their new drummer, they are quickly ushered into this hollywood life and Coy eats it all up. But Jess feels like she's just being dragged along. And though she's happy for him, she wants more and she finds that in the attention of the bassist Sean. He shows her things that she never thought she could have and treats her like a queen. Even though she knows she doesn't deserve his attention. If he only knew her past.

"I crave her attention. Her smile. Her conversation. I take every opportunity possible to bask in her presence."

Sean knows she's off limits, she's their drummers girlfriend but he can't stop himself. He's never felt this way about anyway. He can't control his feelings or himself around her. He knows that Coy doesn't treat her right but they can't lose him as their drummer. With tour right around the corner, they need him but will his feelings for Jess outweigh their need for a drummer?

"I think about you, too." Sweet and sin. That's what she is."

I haven't been able to stop thinking about this book ever since I finished it. If you're in the need of a sexy rockstar, a broken female lead, and an amazing story for the books...then this is the book for you.

I received a copy and voluntarily left a review

I first fell for Kacey Shea's fictional rock band when she introduced them in her Uncovering Love series. So to say that I am a little addicted to the Three Ugly Guys is an understatement! Now that we have seen 3UG on tour in Detour and experienced the love between the lead singer and their opening act, Kacey Shea takes us back into their muscular arms for a little down time in their home and a front row seat to the deliciously sweet bass guitarist Sean and his shot at love. Little did I know that Kacey would batter our hearts with an angsty love that could derail the whole band! It wasn't long into Jess and Sean's story and my heart was in agony and my libido was in overdrive. These two bring the emotions to full crescendo and leave us with our hearts exposed and tears in our eyes!

Sean Willis is the band member that I most wanted to get to know intimately. He comes off as so sweet and you can't help but fall in love with him from the moment he is introduced in Detour, so I could not wait to get an inside look at this hot rock star! The more I got to know him, the harder I fell for this sensitive, protective fictional book boyfriend. He pushed all of my emotional buttons and left me pining for more time with him.

Jessica Moore is a young woman who has had no one to depend on her whole life except her current boyfriend Coy. So when she is thrown into a whole new world alongside her rock star boyfriend, clinging to him seems to be the right move to make...or is it? I adored getting to know Jess and see her friendship with Sean deepen into something so meaningful and her flourish and find herself in the process. Not to mention the sexual tension between them that could light us all on fire!

Kacey Shea delivers a soul touching, heart throbbing tale that shows us what true love and empowerment is all about. I highly recommend Derailed for a rock star romance that plucks at your heartstrings and leaves you singing the character's praises. If I wasn't already deeply in love with Three Ugly Guys, Kacey would have had me falling headlong into these fictional heroes hearts that can rock any reader's heart! I cannot wait for Kacey to give us more of the smokin' hot 3UG!

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 Heartfelt, Raw & Real!

Derail
Off Track Records, Book 1
By: Kacey Shea
Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Emma Wilder

Wow, this is one awesome book, it is the second book of the “Off Track Records” series. I fell in love with the members of “Three Ugly Guys” in the first book“Detour”, Trent & Lexi made their way into my heart in that book but Kacey Shea outdid herself in this book, she had Sean and Jess possess not just my heart but my mind too, once I started the book I could not stop and holy moly, these characters had my emotions going all over the place. The band “3UG” find themselves in need of a drummer for their next tour, they find a perfect match and hire Coy, he moves into the house with the rest of the band bringing his girlfriend Jess. Trent and Austin were happy with Coy but Sean was not, there was something about him that did not sit right. Sean also had an eye for Jess the moment he saw her but she could not be anything but a friend. The more I learned about Jess the more I felt for her and the more I wanted for her, I loved the advice Trent’s Mom Deb gave Sean about her situation, loved how she was with Jess too. It was great to see Jess grow as a person, also great seeing the band come together to do the right thing. This is one amazing story and series, Kacie Shea puts a lot of heart into her stories and there is a lot of depth to them as well. I love her writing style and how she keeps it all real. There is never a dull moment in this book, there is plenty of drama, some angst, some humor (Go Austin, go) heartfelt moments, heartbreaking ones and the start to a wonderful romance. Kacey Shea, thank you for this wonderful story, I can not give it enough praise and five stars is merely not enough. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, Hinder, I hope it comes to audio soon.

I listened to the Audiobook edition, Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder are fabulous narrators and voice artists. They bring these characters to live, giving each their own voice and personality. Jason Clarke’s portrayal of Sean and Emma Wilder’s Jess were perfect, they truly humanized them and captured their persona, you could hear the character’s emotions reflected in their performances. They are entertaining storytellers and pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

***** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *****

This type of storyline is a hard one to pull off. I did not expect to FEEL so much with Shawn's story. I didn’t think it was possible to love the main character duo like I did with Lexi and Trent. But I did, Shawn is so caring and compassionate that no one has a chance against his heart. Jess... I don't even know what to say but I was rooting for her. I was in her corner and wanting nothing but the best of things. You won't get 5 minutes into Jess's and Shawn's book before your heart is all knotted up and you're out for blood.

Kacey Shae created one of her BEST stories to date in my opinion and this is a storyline that I generally struggle with. So to say this is Shae's best book when this isn't a subject-matter I prefer is truly HUGE! Shae's writing was real and seriously authentic. She took the mind of a battered woman and served it up perfectly for is. There was just one area where I really wanted more information on... like what happened with Coy after? I kept waiting on retribution or something. However, the love and understanding in this book had my heart all twisted up and that ending... I don't think I could have swooned any harder unless I toppled over!

The narration could not have been any better! How do you go wrong with Emma Wilder or Jason Clarke on the voices. Wilder astounds me in her ability to play so many different women. She really gives us a timid and scared Jess that grows and gets stronger over time. Clarke exhibited Shawn's heart and I felt it like he was wearing that heart on his sleeve. Great portayals especially with the emotional sides of this story!!

This is the first book I've read in this series and I can't say too much about this story without possibly giving things away. But I will say this...this book takes you through a deeply emotional journey between Jess and Sean, and the obstacles they face to be together.
Jess has some serious demons in her past that she's struggling with, and her low self esteem causes her to put up with the way her current boyfriend Coy treats her. Feeling obligated to stay by his side, and making excuses for him.
Meanwhile, Sean sees Jess for the good person she is and starts to fall for her. But she belongs to another man. And not just any other man, his band's new drummer. He sees Coy for the jerk that he is and sees the way he treats Jess but his band mates don't wanna hear it. Not their problem. Can he just ignore it all?
I became so emotionally invested in this story and I kept waiting for Jess and Sean to finally get together.
I had such a hard time putting it down. But a girl's gotta sleep some time am I right?
I highly suggest buying this book.

I honestly reviewed an ARC of this book.

We get more Three Ugly Guys in Derailed by Kacey Shea. This is Sean Willis’ story and wrong never felt so right! This can be read as a standalone or you can read Trent’s story in Detour first. You cannot go wrong either way!

Sean is the bass player for the Three Ugly Guys. He is a good guy at heart. The easy-going guy that keeps the band moving forward. When the band hits a major snag, change is coming. But that change is more than Sean ever anticipated.

Jessica Moore has never felt like she truly mattered to anyone. She spent most of her life just trying to survive and then she meets a man who she thinks may change things for her. But is he really the man she thinks? What she never expected was Sean Willis.

I really liked Sean and Jessica’s story. It is a very fine line they travel, but what do you do when you find what you have always wanted when you least expect it? Sean always tries to do the right thing for everyone, but especially for himself. He is not sure about the new band member, but his girlfriend is sweet and kind. What lines will be crossed as they become closer?

I loved Detour, but I found Derailed to be so much more emotional and heartbreaking. The story captivated me from the beginning. My heart broke many times but was a great story overall! It was also fun to see old friends! I am excited to read the next book!

~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
I fell in love with 3UG in Detour which was Trent and Lexi's book. Getting deeper into the group and their crush of keeping a good drummer may be at the end with Coy. Sean has always been the calm one of the group but when he sees Coy Wright's girlfriend Jessica "Jess" Moore, he is anything but calm. Jess has a past that makes her feel unworthy and Coy has been the one to be there for her, so she puts up with his heavy hand and anger as she feels that is all she deserves. When she becomes friends with Sean she realizes she may deserve more, but is she brave enough to reach for it? I really loved the development of characters throughout this story. The way Jess found out more about herself through the eyes of Deb and Sean was emotional. This is a great book and definitely a must read series.
Kacey Shea has done it again! I loved the first book in the series, Detour. I could not wait for this second book in the series about Sean. He was such a likable character from the first book. This book did not disappoint. The journey Sean and Jessica has to endure for their HEA was so emotional and full of obstacles. My heartstrings were yanked on throughout the book for the heroine, Jessica. It was painful at times but so rewarding to see the growth of the characters. We also get to see our other favorite characters from Detour which was great. I would say you could classify this as a standalone but it is so worth the credit/listen/time to start with Detour and dive straight into this gem. I really like Detour but fell in love to Derail. Sean is all that you want in a BBF. I can’t wait for the next book to come out to hear more about this group of characters and some new ones. The narration was amazing. Jason Clarke was all that you would want and need in a male narrator and Emma Wilder was amazing and you could feel all the emotions of Jessica not to mention her male voice is hot, hot, hot. Well done, Ms. Shea! Highly recommend.
