Heartbreaking and tragic, I’m Not Your Slave tells the story of a young woman who believes she is getting a new job to help start her life, but who sadly ends up a victim of human trafficking instead.

Because this was such a short book, the change that the main character took from start to end was made more striking. Things like this happen a lot in the world, and the way the author described it all made it easy to see just how these things occur.

The only thing I had a problem with was the number of flashbacks. The story was a bit too short for that to work well, and I think if the story had focused more on the present, it would’ve delivered the message it intends just a little better.

Other than that, this is definitely a well-written piece. I would recommend this to everyone who can stomach darker but eye-opening works.

Do not buy this book. I mistakenly bought it instead of another by this name. This was a horrific story of sex traffickers. Absolutely horrible.

Disclaimer.
I had requested and received audible version of this book for free from the author, in exchange for an unbiased review.

What I liked about the book -
The premise of the book is intriguing. Not a lot of book exist on the topic of sex slavery in the middle east. So, I was expecting an intense story. The protagonist's backstory gets a lot of coverage in this book, which works towards connecting the reader with the character. but...

What I disliked about the book -
Those backstories take most of the time in this short book. So much so that the present-day part of the story seemed like taking a back seat. Either the book should've been longer, so that we get more of the story. Or the backstory should've been reduced.

Also..
Narration -
The narration wasn't up to the mark. It sounded very machine-like. And the audio quality itself was poor.

I'm Not Your Slave by Eric Reese was an interesting listen. It's a novelette about a young girl named Imtiyaaz who is tricked into a world of sex trafficking. I think it's relavent to the world in which we live today. This likely happens far more than we even know. Hopes and dreams shattered by lies and trickery. I liked this story although it was hard to listen to even at an hour thirty five.

Sangita's narration was good. She had a lovely voice that fit very well for Imtiyaaz.

the story was well written, and I felt myself caring for the main character and worried for her.

My biggest complaint is with the narration. some of the pauses were strange to me. This took me out of the story a few times. otherwise I enjoyed the book and found myself wishing it went on longer so I knew what else happened.

I was given a copy of the book in exchange for a review. however I was asked for an honest review.

I received this book for free at my request but the opinion is of my own. Very interesting read on human trafficking and how women could be lured into things by thinking they are doing something else and getting a great opportunity. I just wish the ending was a little longer what happened after this girl got home.

This is a heavy topic, but a much needed one. Her father was so far down the rabbit hole of depression after losing his wife, that he did a grave injustice to his daughter! It is beyond frightening how things went down. This was a better ending than many similar stories. The narrator added to my enjoyment of this story I listened to on audible.

A young woman answers an ad for hotel workers in the UAE and ends up in the sex trade. An interesting exploration of a growing threat to young women. Enjoyable probably isn't the right word, but it was an interesting story.
