THE REVENANTS ARE COMING The Deliverance is low on fuel and stranded in the middle of a war zone. Tanik Gurhain claims to have relinquished his hold on the crew, and yet they’ve all mysteriously elected him as their rightful leader, anyway.
Blake is back to his skeptical self, and alarm bells are going off in Darius’s head, but with no fuel and the Eye of Thanatos blocked by increasingly tight Cygnian patrols, it hardly matters who suspects Tanik of foul play. He has a captive audience for the next phase of his plan. With the artifacts he stole from the Crucible, he’s going to test the crew for viable candidates and then train them to become Revenants.
Tanik claims that he is raising an avenging army to defeat the Cygnians and the USO once and for all, but there’s something about Tanik’s agenda that doesn’t quite ring true. Darius suspects there’s a lot he’s not telling them, and that much of what he is telling them are lies.
As the truth emerges, the lines between right and wrong and friend and foe blur until everything seems gray. Darius is forced to make a horrible choice that could change the fate of the entire galaxy forever.
No matter what he chooses, one thing is certain: Tanik was right--Darius really is the key to everything.

I was offered a free copy of this book in exchange for an Honest Review. Jasper Scott is one of my favorite Sci-Fi authors so I gladly accepted this offer. The closing line in my review of Book 1, The Awakening" was, "And the story is so good I wish time travel were possible so I could jump to a point in the future where the final book in this series was completed and I could read the entire series without interruption". I still have that wish but the excitement and spectacular story continues. It's hard to compose a review without attempting a story summary which I believe is best left to the authors of any book. One of the best things I like about a story in any genre is the inability to figure out who the "Villian-Bad Guy" is and "Who did it". Even though we're at the end of the second book in this series, I'm just now pretty sure (again) who the "Bad-Guy" is. I've changed that view a few times already and I'm beginning to think the 12-year-old Daughter of one of the key characters may be the only innocent in the book. And, even she may occasionally be under a "Bad-Guy's" influence. This book-series is a little different than many of the author's Science oriented stories. Although, he has begun to blur the Science-Spiritual line somewhat in prior tales. There is still a lot of Science here and, as is common with Scott, his stories don't depend on the science to succeed. The stories themselves are great and the fantastic Science feels almost routine. This series has Revenants who possess some seemingly supernatural powers, Yoda like powers. Another of the things I like about Book 2 "The Revenants" is how it ends, or perhaps I should say finishes. I personally dislike "Cliff-Hanger" endings and feel they may be cheap tricks to lure readers back to find out "Does-he-make-it?" I'd much rather come back because I'm enjoying the story and want to have further experiences with characters I've developed relationships with. While there is a satisfying finish to this segment of a great series, there are strong indicators there's more to come. I'm strongly tempted to mention one or two but they would clearly be spoilers for key events that have been driving forces behind some key character's behaviors. There are several times I've thought, "Oh no, he's not going to let that happen!" You'd be disappointed if that tension were removed; I had to wait, you should too.
We continue Darius’s awakening into the new reality that is his and his daughter’s life. Having saved Cassandra from the eye, it is now his turn to fully become a Revenant and they all begin their training. Amongst the kids that were saved, a Banshee is one of them, that never makes Darius at ease.
Upon finding a new planet to safely train from, Darius finds a lone survivor living in the remnants of a Kith castle, the enemy of the human/cygnian Revenants. Darius is weary of her due to his visions and does not believe she is who she says she is. Especially after she almost kills him leaving him left for dead after having taken control over everyone living/training at the castle. Upon Darius’s return, he finds the castle completely populated with Revenant forces preparing for battle to take back the galaxy and remove the cygnian rule over the galaxy, as well removing the seals of life and death once and for all.
Darius keeps having his vision of his daughter Cass and her funeral but now is not completely alone as he and Dyara relationship has taken a “romantic” turn.
I thoroughly enjoy the worlds that Jasper creates. Much like his other series, it is a tale of love but with this being more the parent who will sacrifice anything, even his own happiness to keep his daughter safe but in the end he cannot control the outcome her life or that of the fate of humanity. This is not filled with many plot twists and turns but has a huge one that I honestly did not see coming.
Immerse yourself in this world and enjoy the story at hand.
BROKEN WORLDS; Book 2 THE REVENANTS, by Jasper T. Scott, does not disappoint! The riveting action and pace are only eclipsed by the complicated suspense and plot Scott masterfully creates. This second book in the series has taken the plight of Darius and his young daughter to a new level of peril, as they battle for the safety of the human inhabitants of the universe against an unclear adversary, while simply looking for a place of safety for a peaceful existence. In Revenants, Darius must grapple with the question of how a man can ignore his morality and core ethics when faced with the urgency of a single window of opportunity, and young Cassandra secretly exposes herself to a plan that has her intuition screaming mortal threat. This complicated conflict between species, planets, normal inhabitants and Revenants will keep you reading long after your bedtime, and immediately looking for more pages when you have reached the end. Bravo Mr. Scott, on a gripping, edge of your seat advenure! And when does 3rd book publish???
Thesis book was well written and full of action . Jasper did a great job on this on and it was well worth reading also he put some twists into this book that you won't see coming, one I know you won't because I never expected it especially at the end and the way it was done. Great work Jasper.
Epic second installment Darius's power's are getting stronger as he trains with Tanik. But he is still haunted by a recurring dream showing the death of his daughter. There is plenty of action and adventure and also a really interesting twist that I did not anticipate. Well written could not put it down
The characters develop from the first book to the end of this book. You read the books on kindle unlimited and it takes You straight to the review page and You end up going ok I will do the review then I will get the next book. As you write the review You think more of the book and to write more about how much you want to go back and read it again.
I received a copy to review. This is the second book of the broken worlds saga and it doesn’t disappoint. Darius and Cassandra, previously frozen for 1400 years, continue their adventure in a dangerous universe at the brink of war. This is space opera at its best: adventure, action, traitors, heroes, romance and a plot that thickens every chapter with more than a few nefarious plot twists.
Really enjoyed this second book in the series. Full of intrigue, twists and turns in the plot and lots of character interest. The story built very naturally and before I knew it I had come to the end! Very excited to see how it all ends as I'm sure it's not all going to go to Tanik's plan! Well I hope not!!
If Jasper Scott wanted me to hate a protagonist he nailed it with Darius. Incompetent, self centered, arrogant, evil. If I was Cassandra I would commit suicide to save the universe. Or kill my dad. Both excellent activities. Maybe in Book 3 we can get rid of this asshole.
Amazing story with a great twist that you will never see coming. I won't spoil it for you, but this twist just leaves you wanting to find out more of the story.
I wish I liked the main character more. He just seems s dense. He is manipulated again and again and still he comes back for more. Perhaps his situation seems to give him no choice but I still don’t love fool. I often just stopped reading out of disgust. I don’t want to read the sequel.
Slower pacing and all the characters you wanted to die don't. Mr. Scott's story telling fails to impress and confirms that when I finish this series I'll avoid his other books.
Even better than the first book, I couldn't put this one down. Great story, surprising plot twists to the very end. The Revanents are similar to the Jedi, but this is not a ripoff of Star Wars. The universe here is unique and compelling. Glad I bought the whole series.
First off I enjoyed the storyline. It is a change from your typical space opera. He has done a great job creating a universe. Looks no forward to the next book!!
The story line continuing from book one carried me along. It was enjoyable reading and a good fantasy/sci-fi universe to visit. I look forward to reading book 3!
