I was drawn by the title.

Then I realized it was about a rockstar.

And the story features a badass female character-a cop

I have never read this author before.

I realized, I am kinda excited...there are a few 'firsts' for me on this little list...

Now, those were my impressions before reading...

And after reading, I simply have to say that this book was a real surprise and quite a refreshment

It was new in a way, I haven't read anything like it before:

A rockstar and lead singer of the band Core Damage, Roman Creed accepts to be a host and a central part of a reality show The Praetorian (aka protector)based around finding a right person/winner amongst the contestants who would be working as a personal bodyguard to Roman with a prize money as an added bonus.

Amongst the contestants is Reed Manning, a female cop who got suspended cause of excessive brutality she delivered to the man charged of child abuse.

She s in it for the prize, since she's on suspension, but is planning to decline the bodyguard position in case she wins.

But she wasn't counting on the chemistry between her and the leading man which only complicates things to another level...and for her seeing that Roman is actually very far from the 'assholery rockstar image' he portrays, only makes it harder to keep up with the pretense.

And when the death threats to Roman come rushing in, everybody becomes the potential suspects and no one trusts no one...until Reed driven by the heightened feelings for Roman and not wanting him hurt, starts to investigate on her own, but the reality show/game turns more of a devious ploy to extract a vengeful payback to Roman...and Reed being cast out of the show has only a nick of time to stop it all and save the man she loves...

I never let my guard down until he came into my life and now, the only wall I want to build is one to keep us safe. I'll protect his heart just like he protects mine.

I had such fun while reading this story, it was exciting, thrilling and suspenseful and quite original in describing all the challenges of the reality show, even though I, personally, am NOT a fan of them, at all. *shrugs*

I would have appreciated maybe a longer insight further into the future of Roman and Reed's relationship...and I thought that the transition from chemistry into love kinda got blurred behind all the suspenseful action, therefore it wasn't as palpable for me as I wished it should have been.

The Praetorian by Dawn L Chiletz
4.5 stars!!!

“An overreaction only lasts a moment, but a regret lasts a lifetime.”

Dawn L Chiletz is the queen of reality TV books and after being blown away by The Fabulist, she does it again with The Praetorian. What I love about these books is that they are written in such a way that you feel like you are on set, a part of the audience watching the drama unfold before your eyes. Dawn L Chiletz sweeps you into the story with ease and will have you on the edge of your seat as all the drama and suspense unfolds.

“When I know what I want, I almost always get it. And right now, there’s nothing I want more than to know her. Let the games begin.”

The Praetorian is a mixture of romance and suspense and this was the perfect blend all wrapped up under the reality TV umbrella. All the characters in this book were well crafted, but Dawn L Chiletz saved the best for our hero and heroine Roman Creed and Reed Manning.

Roman is the lead singer in a well known and highly successful band, but he is in dire need of some positive publicity. He is far from the rocker bad boy, but sometimes the press are in the right place at the right time and no matter what the reality is, the way they twist it can have dire consequences. Reed has been receiving death threats for a long time, so when the opportunity comes up for The Praetorian his manager thinks it is an ideal opportunity. The Praetorian is a reality TV show to find a close protection officer (bodyguard) for Roman Creed and as each task unfolds, so does one evil plot.

Roman as a person was awe inspiring, so not what he lets the fans see on stage. Roman was deep, he had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone. Roman was extremely private, and being thrust into the spotlight was not what he wanted, but he makes the best of it and when one feisty cop grabs his attention, he doesn’t stand a chance.

“I told you I don’t like to talk about my shit. But if not telling you means I could lose you, then I’m willing to give you all I’ve got. Because when I’m around you, I can’t think. All I can do is feel. I haven’t allowed myself to feel for a really long time. Right now, more than anything, I want to feel you in my arms, against my skin, and underneath me, all night long.”

Reed Manning is a detective, currently suspended for beating a man who neglected and battered a child. Reed comes from a similar background and wears her heart on her sleeve. Expecting to be let go from the force she needs the money and when she sees an advert for The Praetorian, she signs up. Reed was a fantastic character, she had guts, determination and knew how to stand up for herself. Reed though was an extremely good judge of character and as The Praetorian unravels into something a lot more sinister, she is like a blood hound.

“For a moment, I consider the idea that he has something to hide. Who am I kidding? So do I. In some ways, I’ve been hiding my whole life.”

The chemistry between Roman and Reed was electric and Dawn L Chiletz does an amazing job bringing these two characters to life. I loved how their relationship developed and how that was intertwined with a suspenseful plot. The drama has you on the edge of your seat while the sex scenes will have you squirming on them. This was definitely a page turner and one that I couldn’t put down. I cannot wait for more from her reality TV books, there are none like them out there and they always make for fantastic reading.

I can't lie—I loved The Fabulist and had high expectations for The Praetorian. Thankfully, Dawn Chiletz delivered in spades in this installment of her Reality TV books.

The Praetorian is a masterful blend of excitement and mystery. Roman and Reed were strong, well-developed characters, and the writing in this story made me feel like I was on set, watching the drama, sexual tension, and plot twists unfold in front of me.

My advice? Grab some cookies from the pantry and get comfortable while you binge read your new favorite reality show.

Holy shiitake mushrooms! I am blown away right now! I just finished The Praetorian and I want to stand on a rooftop and tell EVERYONE to read this book. I have loved every book written by Dawn and when I read this synopsis I just knew I needed to read this book.

Once the Praetorian finally hit my kindle I devoured it. The twists and turns kept me on my toes and the romance was so well balanced that I was falling in love while trying to figure out what was really going on because, on the Praetorian nothing is as it seems.

Roman and Reed have both had rough lives growing up, but they have done their best to overcome their pasts. Roman is living in a constant state of guilt and won't let anyone get close to him because of what happened when he was a kid. He has written song after song in hopes of ridding himself of the guilt and become one of the hottest rock stars in the process. Serious, Roman Creed is a real panty melter. Then you have Reed, she also had a past that was awful but she has become to cop to help others who have gone through the same thing she has and she is a bad ass. She is a true kick ass heroine and we need more like her in romance!!

The Praetorian is unlike any story I have ever read, outside of Dawn's the Fabulist. Dawn owns the reality television romance niche! The way this story in alternating points of view gives you just enough while keep you wanting more. I had to force myself to sleep at night because I knew one more chapter would equal me getting zero sleep.

The Praetorian is my top read of 2017 at the moment. I try not to make these sort or declarations, but this one story that I will read over and over to see if I can find new clues that I missed the last time I read it. The Praetorian is a MUST READ!

I was exited to see this author had a new book and that it dealt with reality TV again. I loved The Fabulist and was hoping this one would measure up. It absolutely did!

Rocker Roman Creed agrees to participate in a reality TV show to find himself a bodyguard. He band isn't drawing the crowd they once did, and he could use the exposure. He is far from thrilled, but goes along with it. Add in a death threat at a concert before the even begins, and things are a little tense. Ohhh, and he might just have a little secret he doesn't want to share.

After a strict interview process, the contestants are chosen. Let the games begin!

Reed Manning is on suspension from her job with the PD. She's a badass with a troubled past who really is in it for the $$.

Reed & Roman lock eyes and sparks fly!

This book has romance, mystery, intrigue, twists and turns, and some really interesting characters! It's different from your usual romance!

Definitely recommend this to my reader friends. Have yet to read a book by Dawn that I don't absolutely love!!

I will recommend this book to everyone, however face to face... I have no idea how to pronounce the title correctly 😂😂

Did you read the fabulist or carpool captive? Don’t worry if you haven’t that’s ok. If you have, you’ll see some guests in this book.

The suspense in this book is so real!

Reed is a total BA female detective. Roman is a bad boy rocker that needs some help with good publicity. What do these two have in common? You must read to find out!!

« Reality TV means just what it says. It’s real. And in real TV, sometimes things go wrong. »

DLC promised drama and twists in this second installment in the Reality TV series and boy, has she delivered. I couldn’t put it down. I’m not a fan of reality shows, but I’ve always been attracted by the whole psychology hidden behind the concept.

After The Fabulist and all the fascinating lying challenges — book #1 —, Seamore Productions is doing a new reality show and this time they’re looking for a bodyguard for rock legend Roman Creed, lead singer of Core Damage and a tough persona both off and on the stage…

It’s intriguing, captivating, and suspenseful. It’s also poignant and heartbreaking.

« I live with a lot of regret. It eats me up inside. Every second of every day. Next question. »

Welcome to The Praetorian, the show where you can never let your guard down. Keep your eyes open and your head clear. Not everything is as it appears. Surprises always await you on The Praetorian… way more than you bargained for and better than you ever dreamed.

The reward: 1 job and $100,000.

I loved every second of it.

Another new-to-me author in 2018, and what a find!

How best to describe The Praetorian? *taps chin* It’s a little bit romantic suspense, a little bit rockstar, a little bit contemporary romance, and a whole lot of awesome.

A bad rep, and more recent bad press, threaten rock icon Roman Creed’s image. Not that he cares, but ‘The Powers That Be’ do. Against his better judgment, he’s talked into signing up for his production company’s latest brainchild - ‘The Praetorian’, a reality TV series. Roman gets a new bodyguard plus the chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the public. Security is of paramount importance to Roman. His fans think they know all there is to know about him; they don’t. Still waters run deep, as they say...

‘To serve and protect’ are words that LAPD Detective, Reed Manning takes very seriously. There is nothing she won’t do to protect those in need. She knows what it’s like to be at your most vulnerable with no one to turn to. Even if it gets her into trouble. Trouble comes in the form of a suspension from the force, and a re-evaluation of the only life she has ever known or wanted. The prize money from this bodyguard gig is just what she needs if she decides to start over. This should be a cinch, right? *shakes head knowingly*

Oh my days! I felt as if I had two ‘mes’ sitting on my shoulders as I read this book. One sitting there accumulating the clues (or so I thought), going ‘We got this!’, and the other me shaking her head going ‘I got nothing!’ *shrugs*

Both Roman and Reed have their hearts locked up tighter than Fort Knox, but an attraction like theirs is hard to deny. Both have ghosts in their eyes, and what is they say? Like recognises like. Their timing may suck - the whole potential boss/employee thing, but who wants to be sensible anyway? Cue sparks flying everywhere, and my inner ‘mes’ shouting ‘bow chicka wow wow’ and ‘it’s getting hot in here’. Don’t look at me like that *smirks* It’s not you that has to live with them *snorts*

Reed’s sacry inner monologue had me chuckling out loud. My favourite lol moment was her musings over Roman’s ‘bulge’:

“Stay away from the light. Do not go into the light.”

I honestly loved the whole premise of this story where appearances can be deceiving, and truths need to be unravelled. Where a heart thought frozen, melts under the gaze of a pair of crystal blue eyes. Well, a hot-tatted rockstar is bound to do that to a girl!

I was lucky enough to be one of the first people to read this fabulous book. I have been a fan of her books since meeting her at a book signing in March of 2017. Since then I have virtually devoured every book that she has written. I absolutely loved this book and I once I finished, I felt withdrawals because I reached the end. I wanted more. There is a character or two from her other novel The Fabulist that appear in this book. Dawn weaves her stories so well that you get invested in her characters and its very hard to put it down. I was intrigued by the premise of the reality show .....I loved the twists and the chemistry of Roman and Reed. In this book, I felt like I actually there in the middle of a reality TV Show. This is a book that I would really love to see a follow up book to. Do yourself a favor and read this book. It wont disappoint. I would give it more stars, but I was limited to a measly 5.

I absolutely loved The Fabulist so I was hoping The Praetorian would give me that same feeling since it features another reality show but it unfortunately did not.

Rock star Roman Creed agrees to participate in a reality show to find himself a new body guard. The moment he sees Detective Reed Manning in her interview, he supposedly has an immediate reaction to her. I say supposedly because I felt zero connection between these two. Not one hint of a spark or anything. The show was to film over a two-week period and in that time the characters were already professing their love for each other even though they had spent only a few moments together. One of my pet peeves when I'm reading a book is when the author TELLS us that something happened instead of letting us experience that thing as it's happening. It's lazy writing in my opinion and this book had a lot of telling in it. I'm disappointed.

The Praetorian - (I reckon I am the only person that knows how to pronounce it correctly!!) is the newest offering from one of my favourite authors, Dawn L Chiletz.
The story is fabulous, with plenty of heat, banter and intrigue.
Reed and Roman are the main characters that both their own history they have been dealing with by themselves.
The heat between them both is sparked from the initial meeting, and only gets hotter as the story unfolds.
The way Dawn weaves each of the characters own story throughout the book is so well done.
Another great read from Dawn L Chiletz, that I will recommend to everyone to check out.

Full disclosure: I cannot say the name of this book. I get tongue tied and giggle. That may also be because when I try, I start to think of Roman Creed and I get giddy with my bad crush.

Dawn L. Chiletz has given us her best work to date with The Praetorian. This book is like a perfectly crafted cake. Layers upon layers of excellence with the sweetest and most satisfying ending possible.

Roman Creed and Reed Manning are as opposite as two characters can be but their attraction and connection is evident from the beginning. I loved the way Dawn managed to draw you not only into the current mystery and suspense but sprinkle in more intrigue with each character's past.

The banter amongst the characters was fun with laugh out loud moments. The sexual chemistry between Roman and Reed was electric. And, the unexpected friendships were a bonus.

I will recommend The Praetorian to everyone!

Wow oh Wow, this is one mixed bag of goodness right here! A rocker, a hot cop, mystery stalker, secrets and lots of suspense all coming together on a reality TV show. I was definitely compelled from the very beginning, it had me at the dedication. I can normally work out early on who is be the bad guy, but in this case, I got it wrong, and I love that I did because it wasn’t predictable.

Roman Creed has a secret, Reed Manning has a secret too and they also have a troubled past. Each wants to leave it all behind and get on with the job at hand, but they both go on the reality TV show for different reasons. Roman to find a new bodyguard and Reed to win the prize money to ease her debts. Little did they realize how complexed their involved would be.

Roman acts like the big Rock Star that he is but deep down it’s just a hard exterior he portrays with a gooey center, a true romantic. He is hot tempered but will go out of his way with kindness for his family and friends. Reed has had a tough upbringing and this is one of the reasons she became a cop. She will put her life on the line to protect her principal. She is strong, loyal and has a tender touch when her wall is down. Together these two were meant to be. They knew it, they felt it, and they breathed it in, their first kiss sealed the deal.

I can tell a lot of research has gone into this novel and for that I am grateful. It was very authentic and I not only felt like a contestant playing the game but I am up on my bodyguard (EPO) language for my next trivia night. If you have read anything else from this author, than you will get the same feeling to it as the others. If it’s your first, you’re starting with a winner.

* I am grateful for the copy provided from the author for my honest opinion.

Only yesterday, I wrote in a review that there are three kinds of Rockstar novels and I stick to this idea – because The Praetorian by Dawn L. Chiletz proves me right. Like the book I reviewed yesterday

First, I have to say Ms. Chiletz is a “new to me” author and I like her writing. Even if there is a little “but” coming at the end of this review.

The Praetorian belongs to the best of these three groups. The one that gives you all the classic clichés you would expect from a rock star romance and something NEW…

Or in this case several things new. This “thing” with the reality show was new to me in the relation of Rockstars. And then there was the suspense that was added to the story that came from something totally different.

Actually in my mind this is not ONE but a kind of 3in1 story. We have the Rockstar Romance – then the reality show and then there is something interesting that I would like to call “Murder by Death” feel … . Google that and you will come up with a movie I had to think of constantly while reading. Murder by Death is a 1976 American satirical mystery comedy that is closely related to the stories of Agatha Christie.

Please for the sake of spoilers do not ask me why that movie is running in circles around in my mind – just take my word for it.

My feelings for this book are somehow 100 % positive while I am not happy with the plot development … Strange right ? Can not say that ever happened. Maybe because the author kept my mind spinning and guessing , spinning again and guessing some more. So yes this is a 5 star read with a few buts..

The 5 stars are for engaging the reader so deeply that I did not want to put the book down – so basically the suspense part – which has been a long time for me since I was feeling something like that with a book. But not for the romance part of the book … well lets say there was romance … but this book is no romance novel… as that took the backseat to the rest that was going on.

And then there is this thing about the plot development … The author kept me on my toes from the beginning on … I was (as I said) guessing and trying to figure out things. The story keeps a steady pace and there is a high build up in tension, but then when the reader is offered a solution the book suddenly kind of gets fast paced as if someone had set a final page number and the author suddenly realized she only had like 10 pages to come to an end. I felt kind of sorry for the characters. They were working so hard to get THEIR time and it was somehow cut short.

If I had a free wish, something that I could request from the author it would be the following : (I think she will understand if I tell it this vaguely to avoid spoilers)

Dear Author,

Quoting the blurb : Bad-boy rock star Roman Creed keeps his secret locked behind a door…. The secret behind that door…. Gets kind of lost in the end … with all the suspense and everything going on. There was a moment that let me to believe that that “secret” deserves its own book. I kind of NEED that “secret” to have its own book. So PLEASE consider it - I think there are several readers out here thinking the same. You can contact me anytime if you want to know what I am thinking and why as I do not want to leave these spoilers here out in the open.
And in the End .. thank you for a “late night reading shift” – I could not put this book down …

Wow. I finished this about an hour ago, and I'm still sitting here with traces of the goofiest grin on my face. There is something special about its writing style that is so uniquely Dawn, and I love that. She is a master at giving the reader *just* enough about a character, event, etc. to get them really intrigued and wanting more. I undoubtedly felt that with this story. There was a character in particular that I JUST WANTED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT. Like, NOW. Not later in the story. Somehow I managed to make it through the book and got some more insight ;) On a more serious note, I value and appreciate Dawn's attention to detail and painting a vivid picture for the reader. I could picture everything and everyone she described, and she left no questions unanswered, no details unresolved.

I'll be honest, when I first heard just the title of the story, I thought to myself, "is this some sort of historical fiction book? That's not really my thing..." but then I saw the cover, and did a little investigating, and discovered it couldn't have been further from the truth. The cover? It's pure perfection with the story. If it had been historical fiction? I'd still have read it because I love Dawn's work enough to step out of my reading comfort zone.

The characters. Kudos, Ms. Chiletz, on writing depth within your characters; primary or secondary characters alike. They were flushed out and relatable. They were scarred and flawed. Tough and vulnerable. The interactions, tension, and undeniable spark between Roman and Reed was everything.

I was first hooked by Ms. Chiletz's writing with her novel, The Fabulist. The reality TV aspect of it was something I had never read before, and truly enjoyed. I was happy to hear that she wrote another novel about a reality TV series. It had the same air of mystery, but was completely unique in its own right. I hope that she'll consider writing another within this genre.

Dawn Chiletz has found a life-long fan in me. I will continue to pick up her books without knowing anything about the storyline. It won't matter. She's that good at weaving her words into magic that transports the readers right into the setting of the story, as if they are right in the thick of it. Please continue to share your talent with the reading world, Ms. Chiletz!!!

Another AMAZING book from this author. I love her reality based books and this one did not disappoint. I loved the concept of The Praetorian. I loved how you have two characters Roman, hot rock star and Reed bad ass cop women that are thrown together in this unconventional way. I loved the chemistry you feel each time these two are in the same room with each other. I loved how they are each the game changer for each other in this story.

This book is full of Romance and Suspense. I loved how the author shaped each character and had you guessing until the end. Definitely made this book a page turner. I loved how you had two beautiful flawed main characters, that as the story progressed, really saw behind the trouble walls and reveled this amazing enduring characters.

I loved every part of this book, it was well written and kept you wanting more. This is definitely a Must Read for me!

Dawn, Congratulations on your book release! I won a kindle copy of the book in a giveaway on Dawn's FB reader page. I loved this book! I've read "Confessions of a Carpool Captive" and absolutely loved that one of hers. I actually won a few others of her books on her page, so I'm looking forward to reading more by her!

This story captivated me and kept me reading til all hours of the night. I had to know what was going to happen. This book was awesome! I really want to go read "The Fabulist" next, which is waiting for me on my kindle!

I loved so much about this book! I had never read a book about a reality tv show and had never read anything by Dawn Chiletz, but when I saw this cover and heard the premise I knew I had to give it a try. It started out so strong and it was fun to read about the characters and get to know the two main ones. There were some parts where I was shocked and said to myself, didn't see that coming and loved that about the book. The reason 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the ending. It finally got to where we had been waiting for the entire book and then it was over. It wasn't bad, just felt rushed. Will definitely read more of Dawn's books as this was very entertaining and a quick read.

Dawn has a knack for writing books that you can not put down! I felt like I was watching my favorite reality TV show while reading this and I couldn’t get enough. I loved that Reed was a tough as nails chick but wasn’t afraid to be playful and show her soft side with Roman. Roman is the quintessential rock god but has that “soft and gooey” that he only shows Reed. The twists and turns are razor sharp and you won’t be able to adult while reading this one.

Wow. This was my first Dawn L. Chiletz book and I have to say, I'm a fan. This book was so darn good. I love love, LOVE rockstar books. And while I haven't read many, I really enjoy books with a reality TV spin to them. I also don't mind a good story with some mystery and deception. The Praetorian covered all those bases and hit a home run in the process. The characters were all phenomenal, the storyline was so creative and intriguing and the romance was so swoon-worthy.

I've loved everything that I've read from Dawn L Chintz so far, and The Praetorian definitely didn't let me down! The Fabulist was a little out of my comfort zone, but it was so great! I think I may have loved The Praetorian even more!

I love how she writes about these stories being a reality show, but it's so much more than that. There's so many details about the people in the show, the people not in the show, and about everything in between. As a romance gal I loved the slow burn between Roman and Reed.

The initial reaction that Roman and Reed had to each other really got me. I love when the initial reaction is so strong, especially if it's a relationship that shouldn't happen. Characters like Dawson and Clark really added to the relationship, because they really didn't want it to happen. Then of course we had the other contestants and everything they did. I especially loved Cedrick, he seemed like the most genuine of people. In addition to the romance between Reed and Roman, I loved the intensity of the game with Raul, Tori, Kari and Logan. Drama always makes for a good time, and man did they bring it!

There really isn't too much more I can say without giving too much away, but I really enjoyed this book. One of my favorites this year!

There is something magical about reading a Dawn L. Chiletz book. Not just because the writing is amazing, but because when I read her books, I feel like I've been transported straight into the story. It's like having a front row seat to my favorite movie. Everything is a vivid picture - which is a rarity for me if I'm being honest. I don't always see faces when I read, but if I were an artist, I'd paint a picture of Roman Creed so that I would never forget my mental image of him.

The Praetorian is a fast paced romance novel, but with a twist. Like the author's previous reality romance novel The Fabulist, the romance isn't the only aspect of the book. You'll find yourself on the edge of your seat wondering when you'll finally unravel the many mysteries of the story.

This book gave me everything I need in a romance novel: A strong female lead, a misunderstood male lead, and a relationship filled with witty banter and amazing chemistry. The reality show aspect of the book was just the icing on the cake. Everything was well thought out and extremely unique. Just when you think you have all the answers, you'll find yourself second guessing everything.

There aren't enough stars to describe how much I loved this book. Honestly, nothing I say will do it justice. And now that I'm destined to fall into a book slump, I'll just sit back and wonder if any book will ever compare. And nothing probably will...until Dawn L. Chiletz publishes her next book, that is. So I look forward to letting the cycle continue.

Hot cover plus enigmatic blurb what will you get? I was hoping for an amazing story and guess what? I got just that. And all this from a new author it's a bonus, that's for sure.
Dawn L. Chiletz is a new author to me and I loved every minute of this book. Her writting is hot, wild, raw and suspensefull.
The Praetorian is her latest release and tells the stories of Roman and Reed.
Roman is the typical bad boy, at least for the press. He's the lead singer of a well known band but all that fame can bring some bad stuff. He's been getting death treats and because of this his manager thought it would be good to sign him up for a reality show called The Praetorian.
Reed is a detective that had been suspended for taking matters to her own hands. She beaten a man responsible for abuses to a child. She has a heart bigger than the world and that sometimes can be a problem. But being home makes her budget crash down so she signed to be apart of The Praetorian.
Well... Can you guess what will happen next?
I won't spoil so go for it.
The plot is amazing, super engaging and full of suspense and so much more. These two have a strong chemistry between them and things will happen.
I was glued to my Kindle because I needed to know what the hell was happening. Who? How? Why? All these questions were popping like popcorn on my mind.
This book will present us with love, loyalty, dreams as well as crime, madness and deceive.
Dayum... Hot stuff ahead as well.
Just get ready for a story that will make you read non stop.
Dayum Dawn if this book was the way it was I can't imagine what's about to come.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

The one thing I love almost as much as reading (not quite, but almost) is reality television. It's my guilty pleasure. When I discovered The Fabulist, it marked the beginning of my love of Dawn Chiletz. Not only was it about a reality TV show, but it was a GREAT book. So you can imagine my delight when I found out she was writing another book about a reality TV show. I dove into The Praetorian having really high expectations. And I am happy to report that every single one of them were not just met, but exceeded. Roman Creed is a rock star with a temper that agrees to do a reality show to improve his bad boy image. Reed Manning is a detective with a rough past that signs up to compete in a reality show designed to pick an EPO, Executive Protection Officer, so that she can walk away with the cash prize. When the reality show, The Praetorian centered around Roman Creed gets a little too real, it appears that he and Reed aren't the only ones with something to hide. Who can be trusted? I have read many suspense novels and can usually pride myself on predicting any twists and turns . I mean, I am no detective, I just play one on TV (I love saying that). But, even my predictions were not correct. With that said, it's probably a good thing I wasn't a contestant on The Praetorian. There is romance. There is suspense. There is a reality TV show. All the ingredients for another epic story by Dawn Chiletz. Also, Dawn, if you read this, I need more Logan and Kari, hint hint, wink wink.

A reality tv show about people competing to become a bodyguard for a rock star?! Oh yeah, I would totally be in front of my television every episode for that! What an amazingly original idea from the brilliant Dawn L. Chiletz for a story that I devoured cover to cover! But let me try to break it down in a simple manner so I don't give too much of the plot away than I already have. Roman Creed is a bad boy rocker who has a new stalker, so a production company offers to help him find a new bodyguard with a new reality show, which will also help his reputation. Reed Manning has had a bad childhood that she thought she put behind her, and became a cop to help others not suffer the same fate she did. She worked her way up the ranks to become a detective, and while out on a call, the situation hit too close to home, and she snapped which found her suspended. So she tried out for Roman's new show. Little did these two people know that they would have a strong connection to each other. There was so much to this story. Strong chemistry that shot sparks everywhere throughout, angst from past demons, a suspicious cast of secondaries, tons of suspense, and finally twists around every corner that had f-bombs dropping everywhere. I CANNOT WAIT to see what the one of a kind Ms. Chiletz comes up with next, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
