Since I've started studying for N1, I've definitely noticed a difference between materials designed to prepare you for the exam and materials that have slapped "N1" on to attract buyers. I got lucky - a friend who'd already passed buried me in her leftover study materials - so thankfully I haven't ended up bearing the financial burden when I end up with the latter. Which this book definitely is.
The only "JLPT N1" thing about this book is the kanji reviewed, which are indeed N1 level. However, you need kanji for two things on the exam - obviously for comprehending the questions and readings and for the five questions right at the beginning of the exam, in which a word is underlined and you select the correct reading from four choices. The choices are typically: "this is definitely the correct answer," "oh shit, this is ACTUALLY the correct answer," "uh...wait..." and "*whimper*".
This book includes 30 lessons of ~40 kanji each. It gives you space to write each one three times (even though you don't have to write anything for the exam...you fill in bubbles), and lists off the most common usages, with no translation into any language. At the end of each lesson, there are ten questions where you're given a sentence with a word underlined and you have to provide the reading (good practice) and ten questions where you're given the reading and you have to provide the kanji (good practice?). Even two lessons there's a couple of pages of review: more of the "we give you one, you give us the other" plus some other random sorts of questions that actually are sometimes kind of fun? But they are not multiple choice questions where the answers are four easily plausible readings.
In other words, except for "same kanji," there's a big disconnect between this book and what's on the exam it's supposedly preparing you for. And studying for the JLPT N1 in the final few months before the exam isn't "the real treasure is thefriends we made kanji we learned along the way" time.
(This book actually feels like it would be good for prepping for the Kanji Kentei...too bad that isn't the goal, and that exam has plenty of test materials available already.)
I'm going to stick with it, because I like kanji and practicing writing is relaxing after putting my brain through the meat grinder of a grammar lesson every afternoon.

Sách tổng hợp khá đầy đủ số lượng Kanji cần học cho level N1.
Kết mỗi bài (gồm khoảng 24 từ, mỗi từ có từ 2~6 ví dụ) sẽ có 2 bài tập nhỏ, bao gồm 1 bài kiểm tra cách đọc kanji và 1 bài cho cách đọc và bắt viết kanji). Sau khoảng 4, 5 bài thì lại có thêm 1 bài tập lớn tổng kết.
Điểm cộng:
- Sách chia chủ đề rất rõ ràng nên học rất tiện. VD như chủ đề hành vi của con người, giáo dục, pháp luật, thiên nhiên, vv.
- Mỗi bài chia khoảng hơn 20 chữ kanji. Mỗi chữ có thêm 1~ 5 ví dụ nhỏ. May mắn là mình học tiếng Hàn + Trung trước nên cứ từ Hán Nhật phiên từ từ vựng tiếng Hàn nên thuộc nên thấy đỡ vất vả hơn những bạn học thuần Việt - Nhật. Ví dụ:
Tưởng tượng 상상 想像
Phiến phong cơ (quạt máy) 선풍기 扇風機
Vv nhớ bằng từ vựng tiếng Hàn sang thì sẽ thuận hơn.
- Cuối sách có phần tra từ chia theo bảng chữ cái, lần lượt từ あいうえお kèm tên bài, vị trí trang bao nhiêu khá tiện lợi.
Điểm trừ:
- Có lẽ vì lượng từ khá lớn nên quyển này không nêu được ý nghĩa khái quát của từng chữ mà chỉ nêu được các đọc 2 âm on,m kun và ví dụ là hết. Do đó nếu muốn đọc cụ thể ý nghĩa chung của từng kanji thì nên dùng thêm từ điển tích hợp khác như thivien, mazii hoặc naver dict
- Việc chia từ vựng thành chủ đề học cũng tốt nhưng nếu chia theo bộ có lẽ khiến người học học sẽ hiệu quả hơn chăng?
Mong là sớm cày xong quyển này cho có tinh thần đi thi nốt N1 =))
