Detective Damien Drake #4
Skeleton King
The legend of some serial killers simply refuses to die. If only their victims could be so lucky.
When a body is found—dissolved in acid, a ring of finger bones cemented to the skull—Drake is floored.
For over a year he's been telling the NYPD that the man he had killed, the man who had taken his partner's life, wasn't the real Skeleton King.
Nobody believed him.
Even now, with a new skeleton as proof, Drake is met with resistance.
A copycat killer, they say. A deranged fan of Peter Kellington, perhaps. But Drake knows differently. He knows that this is the work of the original Skeleton King, and he is driven to seek revenge for his dead partner.
Only, like before, he has no suspects.
Drake is on his own, trying to stop a sadistic murderer before he strikes again. Seeking answers, he turns to an unlikely ally to catch the Skeleton King once and for another serial killer that he put away during his time as an NYPD detective. But it doesn't take long before Drake starts to wonder who's asking the questions, and who's providing the answers.
And if he can catch a killer with his sanity still intact.

True story: I used to cut up bodies. No, not for fun, you sickos–for work. After reaching the age of majority and fleeing the clutches of an overprotective mother, I went to university like a good boy.
More than a decade later and an alphabet soup of letters after my name, I found myself looking down the double-chamber of a microscope at an eyeball. Feeling ironically introspective, I decided that it was time for a change.
After seventy plus novels and more than a million copies sold, I’ve found my true calling, one that also includes a plethora of letters. Hopefully you see something in my catalog that you like, something to feast your eyes on.
I also have two spooky podcasts that are appropriate for ALL ages, so long as you like to be scared: P.T. Logan's Five Minutes of Terror and Camp Fear. Both are FREE and available on all podcast platforms. For MATURE audiences, I've created two fiction podcasts, Nightmare Residue and Bad Priest.

The legend of some serial killers simply refuses to die... if only their victims could be so lucky.
When a body is found—completely devoid of skin, dissolved in acid—a ring of finger bones cemented to the skull, Drake is floored.
For over a year he’s been telling the NYPD that the man he had killed, the man who had taken his partner’s life, wasn’t the real Skeleton King.
And yet nobody believed him.
Even now, with a new skeleton as proof, Drake is met with resistance.

Drake is on his own, trying to stop a sadistic murderer before he strikes again. Seeking answers, he turns to an unlikely ally to catch the Skeleton King once and for all: another serial killer that he put away during his time as an NYPD detective. But it doesn’t take long before Drake starts to wonder who’s asking the questions, and who’s providing the answers.
And if he can catch a killer with his sanity still intact.
Notes: Another exciting book and packed with new endeavors. The storyline of Damien Drake continues to unfold. I can't wait to read the next installment.

After reading this 4th book in the Damien Drake series, I've come to the conclusion that Damian is one of the most selfish characters I've ever read about. He exhibits his "machismo" character to the max! And it's not only being selfish, but destructive! He carries the guilt about Clay's death like a shroud and doesn't allow any sort of "breathing" space into his life.
Just reading all his chaos was enough to send me into a frenzy! My anxiety level was over the top and I felt as if the book was never going to end. Thankfully, he got things done, but at the expense of others who were there to help him.
Please, please Patrick! Would it be possible to give Damian a little break? I feel that if he continues on his downward spiral, he's going to destroy himself! I know! I know. I do take my reading seriously.
Yolie (How would I post this review on Amazon?)

This is the 4th in the series about Detective turned PI Damien Drake. Drake has always told the police and everyone else that the Skeleton King serial killer is not dead and he is still alive. The Skeleton King was responsible for Drake's partner being killed and he swore that he would find him.
This time, the Skeleton King is back and Drake is on the hunt. Could he have known the killer all along? Drake has really turned over the PI services to his partner. Chase is now an FBI agent (I miss her). But will Drake quit drinking and turn his life around? Or will the Skeleton Killer finally have his last victim?

This was good but it was all over the place. I'm sure I'm not alone but I figured out who it was right from the start. The chapters that were in the past...in the end it threw me for a loop because I thought it was about Damien. Speaking of Damien, I know he's a flawed character and therefore things probably won't change but I'm getting really frustrated with him. His selfishness, his drinking and continuing to bear the burden of Clay's death. I'm really hoping at some point that the author gives this guy a break. One thing is for sure...Ken Smith is the puppet master!

4.5/5 ⭐️
When a body is discovered dissolved in acid with finger bones displayed around the skull, Drake becomes convinced the real Skeleton King is still out there…even when everyone else thinks it’s just a copycat.
I think what I liked most was how obsessive and personal this investigation felt for Drake since the killer is connected to his partner’s death. It added a lot more tension and emotion underneath everything.
And honestly, the killer in this one was just creepy. The imagery alone made this feel darker and more brutal than some of the earlier books.

Skeleton King( Detective Damien Drake Book 4) by Patrick Logan
Another great book in this series. Fast paced with all characters of interests. Who do you trust or who will be next. Detective Drake is in his usual form, upsetting the powers that be and not taking care of himself but still able to read a serial mad man. These books have flawed characters adding interest to a very fast paced story. It's never dull and moves right along. A great book.

Skeleton King
Once again ex detective Drake is asked for his help in solving one of his most troubling cases. Over a year before, his partner was killed by someone called the Skeleton King. He always felt that the man he killed wasn't the real Skeleton King so he goes after this killer with a vengeance. His mission is to find the real Skeleton King and when he does there is such an Uh-huh moment. It was a shocker. Once again, I can't wait to read the next in the series.

A different kind of thriller
This book was so disturbing, you think you know what’s going on and then you don’t. I’ve never quite read any books like this before. There is just a hint of madness in every character in this book. If you like a good mystery/thriller, suspense book then you are going to love this whole series and the spin off of some of the other main characters. I highly recommend this series of books.

Totally Twisted!
This book was a wild ride that had me in fear of how many were going to end up dead! I want to know how Ken got this much power and what happened to him in his childhood. He is twisted! I’m not giving anything away but this is a must read series and once you start you have to read all of them.

Skeleton King
This is a really good series. The thrills are very good . The mystery in this book doesn't to let you put the book down. The only bad part was the ending in this book. I do recommend this series.

Another amazing book!
I see why this is rated an exceptional series! I only wish I had a small amount of Logan's imagination! This series has been explosive, intriguing, enthralling and many more great adjectives. I will continue on the journey of Damien Drake, for sure!

Bring on the next one.
Another great detective boik with the same great characters. I like how he doesn't throw in lots of random people but keeps things moving so you feel like you know them all. On to Human Traffic.

Patrick Logan has become of one my favorite authors. Each book in this series is so good. Each story is different, yet they just seem to get better as I go. Good thing I also listen to these stories or I would not be getting anything done right now! I can't put the books down!

Loved the book but there were lots of typos.
I loved the story line. I was intrigued. As I read though I kept encountering typos . At chapter 25 I started writing them down.

Freaking creepy.
You need a strong stomach...
Will Damien Drake ever catch a break?
I can't even be mad at him. His whole life is a tragedy... Any hope for at least mediocre happy ending?.. 😢
