The night I’m released from prison, she’s in my bed.
It’s been eight years since I touched a woman, and the Native American beauty is half-dressed, beaten, bruised, and devastatingly exquisite.

We’re toxic together, but we want the same things. Blood. Vengeance.
Violent relief in a warm body.

Beneath her touch, I’m alive.
Against her skin, I’m redeemed.
Buried inside her, I forget the past.
Until the past takes her from me.

Prison made me cold, but losing Raina makes me cruel. Ruthless. Unforgiving.
I killed before. For her, I’ll kill again.
I’ll end this once and for all or die in my boots.

TRAILS OF SIN series (HEAs with no cliffhangers - must be read in order):

Buckled #2 - Jarret and Maybe

I've had some major shocks to the personal life these last couple weeks (edited to add: nothing bad!), and my reading and reviewing is suffering for it.

My point?
This review will be short.
It will suck.
But it is what it is.

I just wanted to make sure I got at least something out before the book goes live, since I did manage to read it. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's the only book I've managed to finish in over a week.

Go me.

Anybullshitramble.

I think we've all been waiting for Lorne's book since first cracking open book one, amiright?

I mean, intense OTT alpha male fresh out of prison?

Be still my emotionally twisted heart.

And while he delivered in the alphahole department, Raina very much delivered in the sasshole department.

Its always refreshing to come across an atypical h who isn't the virginal Mary Sue with a stick up her self righteously moral virginal behind.

That said, fans of the series will enjoy this book...and non fans should definitely pick up books one and two before attempting this one. They are all related.

And FYI, Pam has awesomely listed ALL her first in series books as free via amazon for those looking to dip their toe in.

My review for book one HERE and book two HERE for those interested.

Booted is the final book in Pam Godwin's Trails of Sin series, and it was my favorite of the series! I've been waiting for Lorne's book since we met him in the first book and it did not disappoint! This book was crazy sexy, suspenseful, and kept me completely engaged.

Lorne is the missing piece of the foursome at Julep ranch. The three have fought hard without him to clean up the mess their father's made, and Lorne has spent the entirety of his adult life in prison doing his part. Now, he's back. It's harder than he thought it would be, adjusting to life outside of the bars. This are different for him. He's struggling to find his place again, but all he needs is time. And maybe Raina.
When I’m with her, I feel alive. Needed. Motivated. A little less angry, and a whole lot hungry.

All we really know about Raina is that she's Jake and Jarret's father's girlfriend. And that he didn't treat her very well. There is so much more to Raina's story than that, though. Raina's past has been, in many ways, even more difficult than Lorne. My heart broke for this girl. Raina may have been beat down time after time, but she had so much fire and strength within her. Everything she did, she did for a good reason. And she and Lorne were a perfect match.

This book concluded all of these character's stories perfectly. The epilogue was amazing. I loved it so much. All of these couples have a special place in my heart, but there is something about Lorne and Raina and their damaged souls that heal each other that I just love. I never thought I would love a cowboy series, but Pam made it happen. These books have suspense, angst, romance, steam, and are completely captivating. Don't miss out on this series!
“You’re my whiskey.” He takes my mouth, groaning into the kiss. “My addiction.” His tongue traces mine. “My freedom.”

➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

'BOOTED' is the final installment in Pam Godwin's 'Trails of Sin' series. It picks up where the second book left off. Each book within this series is of a different couple, but they need to be read in order to fully understand the dynamics of the couples. Knotted #1 Buckled #2 and Booted #3

FAVOURITE QUOTE:
"Bully me all you want, Lorne. You'll be the one walking like John Wayne
for the rest of your life.
Don't forget I prepare your food, and I swear on all that is holy
your next meal will grow warts on your asshole and spread a rash to your balls.
Everything below your belt will be so painful to look at you won't just want
your dick to fall off.
You'll take a knife to it in horrified desperation.

This book tied everything up perfectly, the perfect ending to a perfect series. Without a doubt 'Booted' was my favourite out of the three books in this series. This was the one I had high hopes for, the one I was anticipating the most, Lorne's journey was an emotional one, we saw him at the young age of eighteen incarcerated, going in as a young scared boy, coming out as a hardened man, his transition from prison life to civilian life was not an easy journey for him, he struggled to adjust, abrupt, cold, closed off, and slept under the stars hindered by nightmares frequently, but chose that over sleeping in a comfy bed with four walls surrounding him because like prison it gave off a feeling of being trapped.

His family just wanted him back as he was before prison, the only one who understood him was Raina the woman he found in his bed, beaten to near death, raped, by the one man that destroyed so many lives. Now it's their turn to destroy his..

She's a temptress, a spitfire, he shows her how a woman should really be treated and value herself and she shows him that he is capable of love, together they heal, together they conquer.

*4.5 Stars!!!!****

Another fabulous read by Pam Godwin! I loved the conclusion to this series! It was once again filled with passion, love, retribution, and reveals!!! This was my favourite book out of the three and a big part of that was Lorne... our hero!

Since he was 18 years old he had been in jail for killing a man. Unfortunately, he killed the wrong man... he had meant to kill his sister’s rapist; but instead killed one of the hired help on his family’s ranch. The thing is though, from the beginning nothing is what it seems and there was more to the overall events that took place the night Lorne’s world changed forever.

At the beginning of this book, Lorne becomes a free man; but he finds out being free is harder than it looks. When he gets home, there is a tormented, beaten down woman occupying his bedroom. She holds a ton of secrets and she was the woman who was his friends dad’s lover.. What are her secrets and what will Lorne do about the animal attraction he feels for this troubled soul? He’s not got a sensitive bone in his body; but maybe for her he can become a better man?

This series is so worth the read! Expect a dark read and a crazy ride!!! It is so worth it though!!

Thanks so much Steph for our Buddy Read! I just love our discussions about the storyline and characters! This one was particularly good wasn’t it?!!! Until next time....!

This is the last book in this awesome series, and Pam definitely saved the best for last !! I have been really intrigued by Lorne, since the first book and he was so much more than I ever expected him to be.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor hot cowboy gif

Sigh.... I do love me some hot alpa cowboys and Lorne was definitely HOT.. He was also angry, bossy and sexy as hell ;) In other words..PERFECT!!

I was a bit worried about Raina being his love-interest. We have been introduced to her in the previous books, and she didn't really leave me with the best impression, if I'm being honest.

 https://www.google.com/search?biw=1517

Thankfully my impression of her changed more and more the further we got into this book, and I went from being wary of her, to being in awe !!

We get to know everything about her past and how she ended up with John the way she did. Let me tell you...things are not always what they seem !! She has been living in her own hell for the last couple of years, but she never once let it beat her down.

These two broken souls clash and burn from the moment they meet... It was beautiful to read how they grew closer and how much they ended up needing one another...

He smashed my heart against my ribs, to make room for his. Now we beat side by side, stretching and growing together in the shared space.

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1517

As beautiful as it was watching them and their relationship grow, there was so much more going on. John is still a massive threat, especially to Raina...and no one on the ranch will be able to rest until he has been dealt with.

I really loved this final instalment and it's a bit of a double feeling, knowing this is the end. This series will definitely go on my "favorites" list. I would recommend it to anyone who loves their romance with a smudge of darkness. Ohh and cowboys, I highly recommend it if you love cowboys !!

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1517

It was sweet, heartbreaking, mysterious and pretty damn HOT !! I hope we there will be more in the future...maybe a "next generation" series ??!!

Lorne Cassidy spent the last eight years behind bars after a tragedy changed his life. He returns home, and it’s difficult to remember the person he used to be. He’s always been the leader in the Holsten/Cassidy tribe, and now he feels like the elusive fourth. He doesn’t know how to relate to his family anymore, but they still mean everything to him, and he will do whatever it takes to protect them. He just wants to feel normal again. On his first night home at Julep Ranch he returns to find a devastatingly beautiful, Native American woman in his bed. She’s beaten, bruised, and has no one. She’s so stunning he feels like he can’t breathe when he looks at her. He hasn’t been with a woman in years, and she’s a temptation and complication he doesn’t need.

Raina Benally is a 24 yr. old woman who’s lived a hard life. The only things she has left are determination and her thirst for revenge. She’s taking advantage of her unexpected freedom, and is on a mission for vengeance. On her path she encounters a gorgeous, moody, cowboy named Lorne who seems to harbor darkness and is always scowling. He’s lethal, detached, hostile, and chillingly devoid of sympathy. He has a definite edge to him, and is full of attitude. His demeanor is unnerving and downright scary, but his dominating presence hijacks her pulse every time he even looks at her.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Raina is the sexiest woman Lorne’s ever seen step foot in Sandbank. She’s a raven-haired goddess that is both seductive and breathtaking. Over time he feels the most like himself when she’s around. Their untamed chemistry is off the charts, and soon he’s completely infatuated with her. She’s under his skin, and he’s never experienced anything as exquisitely intense as what he feels for her. She’s made him vulnerable and he wants more with her.

Raina has always been emotionally unavailable with men. She’s become numb over the years, and Lorne is making her feel everything. He isn’t like any man she’s ever been with. She craves him in ways she’s never craved a man before, and it terrifies her. She’s started to rely on him, and he’s claimed her heart. They have more in common than they realized. They both have demons they’ve buried, and know about survival. When danger comes knocking on their door will they be able to eliminate their enemies to stay alive and have a future together?

-Beautiful doesn’t begin to describe him. He’s arresting in the way a viper is deadly. Entrancing. Calculating. Patient. If he strikes, I won’t survive the bite.

-There’s no sanctuary from the need he kindles inside me, no reprieve from the force of his eyes.

-He looks at me like I’m the only star in his sky.

-I love talking to her. She’s more like me than anyone I know. It’s the wildness in her, the uncultivated way she views the world. She isn’t bound by social constructs and doesn’t exert energy on outward appearances. Everything that matters to her resides in the space between the earth and her soul.

-I feel every part of her in every part of me.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Lorne’s book is the one I’ve been waiting for, and it didn’t disappoint. I loved seeing this damaged, beautiful man’s tender side. He has a special heart, and he loves with everything in him. This was the third book in the Trails of Sin series. Each book is about a different couple, and should be read in order. This series is wonderful! It’s dark, sexy, and full of vengeance and deep, incredible one of a kind love.

Please make sure you read these books in order. While each book is about a different couple they are connected and you'd totally spoil the whole experience if you read out of order.

I LOVE Pam Godwin's heroines in this series. They are all tough-as-nails survivors, broken seemingly beyond repair but give them the right man and they can heal, their scars beautiful evidence of their strength.

Raina experienced unspeakable things at the hands of Jake and Jarret's father. Finally free of his torture she has only revenge on her mind. While hiding under Conor, Jake, Jarret and Lorne's roof, she heals and learns how to kill John Holsten.

Lorne's finally home after eight years of prison, hardened, closed off and frustrated with his inability to adjust and connect with people. His suite on the ranch feels like a cage so he sleeps outside. The firecracker who challenges him, who argues with him on a daily basis but who he also feels irresistibly attracted to is as broken as him so they are a disaster waiting to happen. Until he realizes that two halves can make a whole.
She’s an addictive drink of legs and attitude, with a kick of heat and vinegar.

Despite Raina's past being even more screwed up than Lorne's she has kept a certain softness that Lorne totally lacks. For some time I wondered how they'll ever find common ground - both stubborn as mules they fight, yell, spit their venom, purging the bitterness from the devastation their lives have become all the while feeling this inevitable pull towards one another. They definitely don't pull any punches but with all that comes reluctant admiration and respect for one another.
“We’re not good together.”
“We haven’t killed each other.”
“We fight constantly.”
“We communicate at full volume.”
He strokes a knuckle along my jaw. I shiver.
“We push each other’s buttons.”
“We challenge each other.”
He cups my throat, holding, not squeezing.

Raina is a wonderful heroine whose strength just had me in awe. Whenever life kicked her to the ground, she got up, dusted herself off and soldiered on.
He’s my battle song in the war of love.

Equally Lorne fought the war inside him and came out the winner on the other side. Again I loved the family dynamics of these six characters. Their interactions spoke of the love, protectiveness and care they felt for each other.

Booted wraps the Trails of Sin series up neatly. We get all the answers to questions we've had and all threads are being tied. It's definitely a satisfying end to this series and the epilogue is the most beautiful cherry on top. I am truly happy that I had the chance to read and review these three books. While they had their dark times, there were also always more joyful moments that made my heart lighter.  Pam Godwin has proven to be a reliable writer with a knack to capture and hold my attention throughout all three books. I wish this family was bigger. I'd read more about them anytime.
We’re doing what we were meant to do. Working hard. Loving harder. In the place we love.

Beautiful doesn’t begin to describe him. He’s arresting in the way a viper is deadly. Entrancing. Calculating. Patient. If he strikes, I won’t survive the bite.

After two deliciously twisty installments, it all comes to a head in this heart pounding conclusion to the Trails of Sin trilogy.

After eight years behind bars, Lorne is back home but he's no longer the boy that he was when he went in. He's hardened. Cold. Detached. That's what happens when you spend years behind bars for killing a man that had involvement in your sister's brutal rape that you were forced to helplessly watch happen. Now Lorne only wants one thing; revenge on the one man that's been pulling the strings.

Raina has survived plenty in her young life. A survivor at her very core, she's used to taking care of herself. But then she finds herself chained and beaten within an inch of her life and finally asks for help. And while it looked as though she was willingly at John's beck and call and bent to his demented sexual will, looks are deceiving. Now seeking revenge of her own against the man that's responsible for her greatest pain, she won't stop until John is dead at her hand.
She’s an addictive drink of legs and attitude, with a kick of heat and vinegar.

Lorne and Raina are incredibly broken characters though each for different reasons. Each of them has seen the very bowels of human depravity and paid dearly for it. Raina's past was heartbreaking to read. I loved that through everything that she's been through, she doesn't lose her backbone or sass. This is a woman that gives as good as she gets and she's gotten plenty.

The sparks with her and Lorne are immediate and downright incendiary.
Let me tell you something about me. If you were my girl, I’d make you feel like my world. Only then would I deserve to make you feel like my slut.”

There's plenty more secrets that get unraveled and so many twists and turns it will leave your head spinning. A perfect page turner of a conclusion to an addicting trilogy. And while book two is still my favorite, Booted didn't disappoint. It was dark and sexy, and with Pam Godwin's signature gritty lyrical writing style.

"I'll never be alone in the hurt again."
description

Booted is the third book in the Trails of Sin Series. The series features three cowboys and their mission to protect the women they love and seek revenge on those who have done them wrong. In order to fully grasp the depth of the relationships between these characters, the series must be read in order.

description
"My lungs seize, and my body swims in ecstasy as need, need, need pulses through my veins."
Lorne is a survivor. After spending years locked up and isolated from his sister and his two best friends, he is finally free. Although he is free from his prison, he is lost and suffering from the demons of his past and the trauma he experienced in prison. Raina, a wounded woman, is recovering from the trauma she has experienced at the hands of Lorne's nemesis. Lorne is instantly drawn to Raina but with so much brokenness between the two, it will take the healing (and pain) of Julep Ranch and the entire family's love to bring them through. As they pull together emotionally, a physical connection sparks and Lorne and Raina find peace, passion, and love in each other's arms.
"Lorne lives in my soul, always with me..."
description
"Fear is the rope around wrists in the ravine. It's a knife in the heart, slowly twisting."
Told in multiple POV, Booted offers a perfect conclusion to this series. As always, Ms. Godwin's writing is complex with beautiful text and smoking hot passion. The journey of this family is paved with pain and heartbreak and yet, every moment spent in torment transforms into joy and unconditional love. Each book in the series is unique based on the trials of each individual character and yet, the central theme of the series remains constant love never fails.

description

Overall, I highly recommend Booted and the entire Trails of Sin Series to anyone who enjoys romance with dark undertones, alpha male cowboys and their spunky counterparts. Each book in the series is unforgettable and Lorne and Raina gave this series a perfect finish. I will miss these characters so much. Pam Godwin is a truly gifted storyteller. I adore her writing and no doubt she has more greatness in the works.

Lorne hasn’t had it easy in life. Far from it. Spending eight years in prison will definitely leave a mark on you. It’s not something you forget so easily and Lorne can attest to that when he gets released. To be back with his sister Conor, her lover Jake and his brother Jarrett is proving difficult. Adjusting to being social and in public triggers him but Lorne find peace and comfort in the company of Raina.
Raina has her own baggage to deal with. She knows this group of people thanks to Jake and Jarrett’s father. She’s a strong and resilient woman who has made difficult choices in her life but has accepted them. She made those choices out of necessity. Because of love for her family. Yet those choices have also left her hollow and numb.

Together Lorne and Raina find a mutual respect for their lives and their choices. They fight and challenges each other constantly but that’s also what keeps them sane and them moving forward. Towards a new life. They’re intense and their need for each other is palpable. I enjoyed their bantering cause Raina enjoyed pushing Lorne’s buttons and vice versa. She’s tough and kick ass. Lorne surprised me with his vulnerability and his patience with Raina. She doesn’t do emotions well in particular love because of her past but Lorne proves to be so much more than a cold, ruthless cowboy.

This group of friends have been through so much. Their friendship and love for one another is their anchor. Beautiful, unconditional and loyal.
Booted delivers an entertaining and thrilling story with a fabulous ending and conclusion to this trilogy. These guys aren’t just cowboys. They’re cowboys with an edge.

THE STORY
Lorne Cassidy returns home from prison early to discover Raina, the girlfriend of his enemy in his bed. As he struggles to adjust to life outside of prison and regain his life back, he learns some disturbing truths behind Raina’s relationship with Jake and Jarret's father.

Raina has a silent understanding that calms Lorne’s broken soul because she too has been broken. But whilst Raina may soothe his soul at the same time she sets a spark inside of him that threatens to burn his heart.

MY THOUGHTS
This is book 3 and the final in this simply addictive series. The chemistry is instant between Lorne and Raina with makes for some hot and fiery moments. I hope you like a slow burn!

Raina is not your typical good girl virgin heroine, she has major baggage, but she is tough, determined and quirky and I really enjoyed reading the Native American part in this story.

Lorne’s character is broody and fiercely protective, there is an extremely sexy side to his darkness and dominance but underneath that tough exterior he is gentle, caring and loyal.

I love the strong sense of brotherhood /family in this series. Each book in the series gives us another perspective of the tragic event that occurred in Book #1 with Conner as we see the ripple effect it had on all their lives.

There is something almost lyrical about Pam Godwin’s writing, the words flow seamlessly into the one another creating a beautiful and memorable story.

This is a long one but well worth it, Aiden was the perfect Lorne with his deep southern sexy growl and Emma Wilder's performance is always exceptional.

The 3rd book in the Trails of Sin did not disappoint. It was intense, deep and completely emotionally driven. It was my favorite of the trilogy.

Lorne Cassidy is the last of the foursome. His last 8 years of his 26 years has been hard. But he’s free now and isn’t prepared for the woman who knocks him off his game. She sees him, she understands his demons, and she takes his cruelty because she knows he’s lashing out.

Raine has lived a very hard life. She’s done what she has to too survive and it’s shameful. When she comes back to Julep Ranch, she broken yet determined. She has one mission in life and that is to kill Jake and Jarret’s father. She needs help and Lorne decides that he’s the man that will help her.

Lorne and Raine have a connection. A heated, hurtful, volatile, intense sexual tension connection. Each are broken but each bring a calmness to one another. They don’t want to own their connection so they are combative towards one another in hopes that they can avoid their feelings. But once they do own their feelings, the explosive fireworks soar. Their intensity is emotional because of their past. Their backgrounds have hardships yet they are able to see each other through the harshness and the beauty of their story.

Connor, Jake, Jarret and Maybe were ever present throughout the story and helped to bring the story full circle. This group of 4 who eventually became 6 were a formidable force. Their love, friendship and commitment to one another brought their demons to rest and finally created peace, love and contentment.

And then there was “eleven years later” and it just perfect and complete!!

In a word: Lorne

This is the final book in the Trails of Sin trilogy (which I highly recommend reading in order --- otherwise, you will be lost!), and I've looked forward to this one since we were first introduced to Lorne in book 1 (Knotted).

Lorne is the eldest of the combined family --- he was raised with his sister Conor and the twin sons (Jake and Jarrett) of his mother's best friend in one large ranch centered around a cattle business. Their mothers passed away when they were young, so they were brought up mostly by their fathers who turned out to be anything but good role models and ultimately tried to take their inherited land bequeathed by the matriarch owners from them. Part of that scheme led to a horrific and brutal attack on Conor where Lorne, Jake, and Jarrett were tied up and helpless to prevent. Once Lorne broke free, he immediately charged after where one of the attackers had fled in the dark and shot him to death once he got him in his sights. The person he shot, however, was not one of the rapists (though we later learn in book 1 that he was far from innocent), and his father along with the twins' father convinced Lorne (who had just turned 18 two months prior to this devastating event) to plead guilty to second degree murder. Lorne has been in jail since while Jake and Jarrett have sought revenge on those who orchestrated the devastation of all 4 teenagers and tried to steal their rightful legacy.

Upon Lorne's release, he arrives back home for the first time since he was 18 to find a battered, bruised, and broken woman in his bed. Raina was introduced in book 2 (Buckled) as the plaything belonging to the twins' father John. While there were hints that she was unwilling, she asked that the boys never involve the police, so it was unknown as to what her reasons for withstanding 2 years of abuse from the depraved older man. At the end of book 2, Maybe rescues Raina from where she is found chained, shackled, naked, and badly beaten and brings her back to the ranch. Lorne has no idea what Raina's motivations are, but he knows that she is entirely too aware of the activities his surrogate brothers and beloved sister have engaged in to restore justice, and he will not allow anyone to destroy the delicate peace they have finally found after so many years of anguish.

What I liked:
--- Lorne, Lorne, Lorne.... and where can I find one of him for myself please?
--- At first I didn't really like Raina, but as the book wore on, I warmed up to her significantly and found her to be a "worthy" woman for Lorne
--- Their chemistry ---- explosive!

What I didn't like as much:
--- As I mentioned, some of the things about Raina were hard for me to accept when it came to the right fit for what I consider to be the most tortured of the male trio in this series
--- As with the second book in this series, the escalation from "I have no idea about you or your motives" to "I am obsessed with you and cannot breathe without your love" was pretty fast for the circumstances (but I am a jaded realist when it comes to romance, so there's that - haha)

Overall, a very gratifying end to a steamy, dark, damaged-but-oh-so-hot cowboys' trilogy!

Plot --- 4.5/5
Main Characters --- 4.5/5 (Lorne = 5/5; Raina = 4/5)
Supporting Cast --- 5/5
Steam Level --- 4/5
Violence --- yes with some possible triggers (Raina's abuse/background & final confrontation with antagonist)
Language --- they're rugged cowboys, so yep
POV --- Dual

After being incarcerated for 8 years, finally, Lorne is a free man. Being with the people he loves and cares makes him happy and satisfied. But he still finds it difficult to adjust to his "new" life. And then he met Raina. She's the kind of woman who can't be easily fooled. She's a street-smart because of what she'd been through early in life. Difficult choices she was forced to make and falls into the hand of an abuser but she was able to escape from him. Now, she's planning her revenge! Two souls who have seen and experienced the dark side of life are now bound to bring down the man who continues to hunt her.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. The suspense of the story and the thrill of the plot. Lorne is such an unpredictable character and most of the time he's a no filter man. He says what he feels doesn't apologize who got hurt. What I like about him, though, is his protectiveness to the people that are important to him. Raina is not your typical heroine, she's feisty and doesn't tolerate whoever belittles or insults her. Lorne found a match in Raina, they complement each other.

Pam Godwin definitely saves the BEST for last. Booted is intense, steamy, gritty and a compelling story! What a way to end a sexy series! If a dark romance is your weakness, Trail of Sins series is definitely a must-read. Highly recommended!

5 * I hear you * stars

This is how you finish a series! This is my favorite out of the three books in the Trail of Sins series! From the beginning I was waiting for Lorne's story. I was anxious because what's to expect when a man spent nearly a decade in prison for a crime he shouldn't have committed. I knew his book would be intense and that I would be on guards most of the time.
I knew nothing about the heroine or barely. We see Raina or heard of her in the first two books but her part in it was such a mystery, even a strange thing if I may put it that way.

“The universe is speaking.” I marvel out loud.
“Are you listening?”

I try reading Booted as slowly as possible because I wanted to savor every single moment. It's the last book in the series, it's time to get the finale answers and time for all of the bunch to have their HEA, even dark and rugged Lorne.

Raina & Lorne's relation is complex and not a sure thing at first. Both their past makes them wary. Trusting people easily isn't what they are used to and it takes a lot of time to have feeling. I love slow burns and even if there isn't a lot of time between certain actions I enjoyed a lot how Raina& Lorne discovers each other, how they get close and how slowly they let their guards down.

I tried to stay as vague as possible about the plot because if you consider reading this book, you should start from the start, and get back to Knotted which is free at the moment. All stories are intertwined and should be read in order.

Loved it.
I took off half a star for a few reasons.
Very well written. A great adult suspense.

Last book of the series and WOW!
I loved all 3 books & will be adding Ms. Godwin on my GR Authors I Follow.

I loved Lorne & Raina, the main characters in this story. Their intensity, their passion for justice and each other. Their determination.

The writing was amazing. The story flowed with ease. It kept me completely involved.

A truly fantastic read.

There were a one area that could have been better. A few points that needed to be addressed in more detail at the end, or I guess I should say the 'almost' end. It was a perfect place for Ms. Godwin to do a better wrap up of a specific scene . This area wasn't used to its full potential. If she had actually added just a few more pages to this section, using it to wrap up things up a bit more realistically, it would have been a slam dunk 5🌟+ for me.

That being said, I would still highly recommend this series and this author.

This series has complex stories with complex characters. I have experienced all the emotions while reading it. With ‘Knotted’, Pam Godwin built a rollercoaster of emotions. The highs were thrilling and the lows were gut-wrenching. While reading 'Buckled', either my heart was in my throat, tears were in my eyes, or I was bellowing with laughter. With 'Booted', I felt disappointment. I had high expectations for Lorne's story. After reading 'Buckled', I couldn't wait to read his book and get inside his head. Sadly, I didn't learn who Lorne was, what he thought about while in prison or what kept him going. I didn't feel his struggle. We know why he made the choice to go to and stay in prison, but when he's released, he showed no emotion toward his sister. I cared more about Raina than him. Her struggle and her fight were more interesting to me. Their relationship was full of fire, disagreements, and passion. Sadly, though, whereas with 'Buckled' I loved that the sensual moments complimented the story, and were not the focus, I didn't feel the same with 'Booted'. And, in fact, found myself skimming the sex scenes. While this didn't work for me, I am in the minority. My friends who have read it really enjoyed it. So I do encourage you to read it. I would love to know your thoughts!

Welcome back to Sandbank for Knotted, the 3d installment of the Trails of Sin series and the conclusion I was impatiently waiting for. Once again Ms Godwin didn't disappoint, delivering a thrilling read. My favorite cowboys are back for an unbridled ride!

This is Lorne and Raina's story, a enemies to lovers romance that left me content: all my remaining questions from the two previous books found their answers and it brought a much needed closure.

Raina's was rescued from John (Jake and Jarret's dad)'s claws. That's the exact moment when Lorne is released from jail after 8 years spent in hell. Follow days and weeks of adjustment for them both, of fight, provocation and hate. Lorne,  broody, cold, ruthless and mercurial (with reasons) discovers a tough , feisty and sexy Raina. I absolutely loved these couple, the depth of their personalities and their emotional complexity. These two strike sparks, the heated dialogues sometimes making me cringe or burst out laughing. Lorne can be a jerk but Raina assuredly stand up for herself.

The plot is rhythmed by an alternance of intense, nail-bitting, infuriating and passionate moments; it gripped me, although it took me some chapters to get used to Raina's psychological analysis of Lorne, which was a tad unsettling (I'm still not sure how I feel about that).

Booted is a love, revenge, resilience, second chance, family, story. I took a lot of pleasure at being immersed in this cowboy atmosphere, note that this is my first cowboys series as it's something that never really interested me before. But ...guys, it's Pam...you know!

I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK. THANK YOU!!!

What a book

I 've been dying for Lorne's story since the first book in this series and it was brilliant. Lorne had been through he'll since that ni but 8 years ago. He has missed out on so much of his life and is finding it hard to get his life back to normal. His sister and best friends mean the world to him there is family and he would do anything to keep them safe. One thing Lorne didn't expect to find when he got home was a stunning woman in his house. But things were far from perfect and he knew who was causing these problem. It's was time to get everything back the way they were. He might not of been around but now he was and things were goin to get back to normal. He just never expect this stunning woman to get under his skin.

Raina life has never been easy from a very young age she has had to deal with so much. She grow up way to fast and saw things a young girl never should. And now things were still crazy and horrible. But she was back where she never thought she would be back at the Julep Ranch. She was safe there but she needed to do something and she needed to men help. She just didn't think that Lorne would be the guy to help her. Things were'nt easy between them all but she would work and learn from the men. Raina just didn't think that her and Lorne would get close they couldn't stand each other half the time. They were just to a like and had both been through such a crappy time. She knew what Lorne needed and he was the same. They just never saw each other coming.

This book was just brilliant. I m so gutted this series is over its one of my favourite from this author. From book one this series was been so so good. There dark in parts but there written so well. The author really knows how to create great character and an amazing story. I was heartbroken throughout this book. They have been through so much they both needed each other so much. I did get hooked to this series from the very start. I couldn't put any of the books down and it was same with this book. I luv how close these characters are after everything they have been through, they all deserved there HEA after what had happened. All the books are linked so I do recommend that you read them in order to keep the flow of the story. I recommend this book and the whole series. Like I said they are dark in parts but really enjoyed the story I do find dark books test me but I couldn't help but l in this. The men are so sexy I luv a hot sexy cowboy and there all strong protective alpha men. All with a different story of what had happened to them. You can't help but get addicted to this series and author.

I liked these books. I thought the women were written really well. Strong, resilient, badass females. The plot was engaging, but I feel like the men were copy and pasted versions of each other. I know that they were brothers, but they seemed like the exact same men. Anyways overall, this was a good series 👌

I'm a self confessed city slicker, even in books the country setting isn't an Ideal genre, yet Pam has managed to flip me with her Trails Of Sin series. I'm totally amazed by her versatility, she writes dark romances, love triangles, cowboys and paranormal, all with same proficiency, thoroughness and expertise. Her pen doesn't miss a beat, moving across varied genres and tropes. And all is topped with her trademark sensuality and seductiveness. Heat and passion are always in foreground with a strong plotline base. She's a marvellous writer, always a joy to read
Ever since book 1- Knotted, the Holston/Cassidy tribe has camped in my heart and refuse to leave. The brothers Jake & Jarret, Lorne & Conor Cassidy have become MY people, MY family, MY ranchers. The scars that mar their palms are itching on my heart too. Their travails trouble me, their pain hurts me, their calamities destroy me.
"They’re a cancerous lesion on the flesh of the soul that can only be removed with gunpowder and sharp steel."

description

Pam has created a beautiful world on Julep Ranch where serenity and safety vanished on a dreaded night 8 years ago. They are all victims that are still struggling to collect their shattered pieces left behind & separated and stumbling on their weakened legs to bring some semblance of order in their lives.
Lorne is on a self imposed exile of sorts. His demeanour is volatile, the constant need to look over his shoulder and watch his back has made him high strung and unpredictable. He's muted his words and introspected his thoughts to make sense of the outside world. His demons are relentless and deeply embedded.
"PTSD is unavoidable. No one leaves prison without it. I received an education in human depravity and criminal behavior that can’t be learned in a school psychology course."

description

And what soothes this turbulent, impenetrable soul ? It's open outdoors, a soothing presence and a cup of tea. The agitation that is his life finds a respite in the silence of night. Raina too has taken asylum in the ranch, licking her bodily wounds, finding much needed safety net so she can recuperate and reassess the danger that seems to be following her like a shadow. Together these broken spirits go back to her ancestral roots trying to heal together through customs and beliefs
My ancestors believed that all nature is alive with spirit. Animals, plants, rocks, water, humans— everything has a soul, and we’re all connected in one unified whole.

description

A soulful story penned by Pam, looking deep into childhood bonds of virginal love and brotherhood. The wronged innocent lives shattered by Avarice, greed, betrayal and treachery. I've to admire the tone she sets in this book. She doesn't need to tarnish this vulnerable love with words so she cleverly uses the eyes, touch, night silence and dancing under the stars as instruments of romance.
We embrace without arms, kiss without lips, and fall with the ground firmly beneath our feet.
He smashed my heart against my ribs to make room for his. Now we beat side by side, stretching and growing together in the shared space.

description

Amazing. Brilliant. Fabulous words. What a beautiful line, it just hits you straight in the heart making the defining silence more potent, more pregnant with emotions than a pageful of dialogue. What mastery in writing, I was floored, just completely besotted with unsaid sentiments. I loved this unique take of Pam on her character development.
“I hear you.”
“Every unspoken thought. Every emotion you cover up.” His expression softens.
“I hear you.”

This part is definitely darker and sinister in tone, yet light is there just around the corner. Pam doesn't let despair overpower hope or disparity of past shadow the future. The family as a unit bands together and anchors each other, they are willing and gracious, accepting and welcoming. Each member becomes a cog in the wheel of tribe and they together push danger away from their precious Julep Ranch
Blood, revenge, unity, victory— it’s all there in four hands, twenty fingers, and eight years.

Booted is the final book in the Trails Of Sin trilogy and what an ending it was. It was violent, dark, brutal, amazing and beautiful. Beautiful in the way it brought two broken souls with jagged edges together, that shouldn't fit yet somehow they do, not seamlessly mind you, there's too much pain and pent up emotions for that but Raina and Lorne are perfect for each other. I enjoyed their journey and the way it all ended. I definitely recommend this book and series to those who love dark stories.

4 "I hear you, too" Stars

This is by far and away my favorite couple of the series. Wow! I was blown away by Raina and Lorne. They have imprinted on my heart. I loved every single thing about their characters. They are both like wounded animals who have to learn to live again. Beautiful, broken, and heart-breaking!

The story both started and ended on a bang. I had no doubt while reading this book, early on, that it would be a 5 Star read. Unfortunately, I got tripped up a couple times as I continued reading. I won't mention the specifics because ultimately, I still love the book very much and these are subjective opinions.

Here's what I loved:

The main characters, I've already covered. The secondary characters were amazeballs as well. I forgot how much fun Maybe was. Her and Lorne cracked me up. I loved the family dynamic and how easily Raina fit with the group. I flipping adore Raina. Though she's had a difficult life, she's still strong and resilient. And her and Lorne together were a chemical reaction! Pure fire!
The subplot was interesting and engaging.
The story comes together seamlessly and the writing is top notch!
I live for a good epilogue and this one more than satisfies.

So, at the end of the day, this was a WIN! A really good emotional and gritty read that will please fans of romantic suspense.

First Impressions
Booted is the finale in the "Trails of Sin" trilogy and I have been having a blast with this series and this family especially. I love seeing this style of westerns and need more westerns that are edgier like this. Pam Godwin always does such a delightful job with her stories and "Booted" was no different here. Pam Godwin is such a personal favorite author of mine and I always love how she captivates so easily and draws the reader in so effectively on a deep emotional level. This always has a interracial romance implemented which I really had a blast with.

First Line
The silence in the master suite makes my blood run colder than the air blasting from the floor vent.

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Lorne
Ex Convict, Alpha Male, Dominant, Tortured over his past

The Heroine: Raina
Native American heritage, sex worker, spiritual nature.

Summary
Booted is a story that begins with Lorne and Raina. Raina had been rescued by Jarret and Maybe from his father who was abusing her and had her chained in his home. She is now recovering, when the lost soul of their group "Lorne" returns home after years in prison. Lorne is determined to get revenge over everything he has suffered and lost and having to be in prison and being so betrayed by those that harmed his sister and forced him to have prison time. He and Raina come together as they both have goals to destroy their one final enemy who caused so much harm to their family. There is a deep connection that forms between Raina and Lorne, they both are damaged souls who find solace and healing with each other as they journey to finding peace for those they love...

What I Loved
Booted was such a brilliant story that just captivated me from the start. I absolutely adored this tale and Pam Godwin really endeared me to it so quickly. I found that this book is the most inspiring out of any I have read from this author. It has such writing that is almost lyrical and has a spiritual like theme to it which I respected. You don't need to be religious to appreciate what the author was trying to convey. I also became so endeared to the focus of the Native American beliefs being so well portrayed. And the way in which we see how the hero and heroine interact with each other. They both have different struggles. There are such poignant moments that build between Lorne and Raina. Lorne is determined to show Raina what sexual intimacy can be like. All she has known is selling her body and mostly for a good reason, to help her sister who had a dangerous disease and treatments were very costly. But she has never experienced a true climax with a man. Then we have Lorne, who has his inner demons and nightmares of prison life at such a young age. And how Raina is able to help him find peace. Lorne and Raina are so perfect for each other, in how they balance one another out.

The plot of the story and the series really gets finalized in this book. We have especially seen the actions taken by Jake and Jarret's dad and how his greed has destroyed so many lives. We get some plot reveals that hadn't been revealed in the previous books and there is definitely a great amount of suspense that is placed in the story and that ENDING .....whew for a minute there my heart was breaking. But everything end with a beautiful finale and our couples finding justice, peace and true happiness as they all deserve.

What I Struggled With
There wasn't much I struggled with on this, a little bit with the heroine at times but she had great character growth.

Overall View
I found Booted to be a spicy but emotionally provoking read that delivered on plenty of heart and redemption that fit just right and completed this beautiful world in such a satisfying way.

“You’re my whiskey.” He takes my mouth, groaning into the kiss. “My addiction.” His tongue traces mine. “My freedom.”

Finally i have closure,at last i have peace. I have found my breath back,my heart still beats. But i had to reach the last page to find it....

The story continues with Lorne being released from prison. Maybe and Jarret brought a severly injured Raina to the ranch and she’s in Lorne’s bed. With him back home, she tries to leave, but he won’t let her. He can’t allow her to leave, because her presence touches something inside of him. Both have scars from life. Both need to heal. Both need someone that hears them. But will the past let them? Do they get the time they need? Can they get through the roughest, most painful moments without breaking?

If you got this far in the series, you’re strong enough to finish this.
I heard them,i felt them,i loved them!
