Truly Evans was a survivor. She survived growing up dirt poor. She survived her Army husband's infidelities and subsequent death. And she'll keep on surviving. Somehow. Even when fate decides to throw her a wicked curve ball.
Delta Force Operative Paxton Graham was a warrior. He fought for his country. He fought for his Delta Force brothers. And now he’ll fight for the family he never knew he wanted.
When Pax and Truly's worlds collide, two guarded hearts will learn that sometimes life's greatest gifts are also a completely unforeseen surprise.

Formerly an accountant and a chemist, they are now overworked, stay-at-home moms who adore their children, their husbands...and writing about love in every way possible!
I am really at a loss as to how to write this review. While the story of the actual couple was good, the back story just had a lot of things that didn't sit well with me. Excessive cheating with lots of talk of his actions, emotional abuse, and dead spouse. It just left me feeling sad. (Most, if not all of this was in the blurb, so that's on me) I was a military wife at Ft Hood (where this story located) and I too saw these kind of antics take place. There was more focus on the backstory than this couples romance.
HERO~ Paxton- he was redeeming hero. I felt that he let his loyalties lie with the wrong person when he didn't give Truly a heads up about her ex's infidelities. I would have expected more from a man who claimed I was the other half of his soul. I would been apprehensive about believing that. That being said, he was so amazing with Liberty. He stepped in and became a father that she deserved. One that she most likely would not have had if her biological father hadn't died. When he finally went after Truly, he was devoted and patient, letting her learn to trust him by showing her he was honorable and faithful.
HEROINE~ Truly broke my heart. No home life as a child. She just wanted to be happy and loved. What does she get instead? a cheating husband who repeatedly was unfaithful and she took him back each time. I was glad she came to her senses, and was set to leave him, but lost him in a training accident instead. She just kept getting one blow after the next
SEXUAL HISTORY~ She had been married but it had been a while since she was intimate with him. Pax's info was confusing. While he didn't come across as a manwhore, he obviously had been with other women after meeting Truly
OM DRAMA ~ None in the story-all back story about the dead ex
OW DRAMA~ an ex of Pax showed up which was confusing because he said he hasn't been with anyone in 16 months but she showed up, out of the blue, to a house he had only moved into recently.Totally could have done without that. He promptly sent her away - this is all told in Truly's POV
STEAM no much steam -they do not have sex until the 90%-ish mark
VIOLENCE No violence
SECONDARY CHARACTERS It was great to see Fletch, Emily and Annie again. Pax's ex room mate, Cagney, was a skanky manwhore and I'm glad we didn't see much of him
Hero wants the heroine to raise with him the child that her husband fathered when he cheated on her with ow. Crazy sh*t. A baby that is a constant reminder that her husband cheated.
Paxton, a Delta Force soldier, wants to kill his best friend, Fancy. Not only for cheating on his amazing wife, Truly, an exorbitant amount of times, but also for getting one of those women pregnant, and then ignoring his responsibility to her and his baby. But, he can't, because Yancy died in a training mission, and then the baby's mother did shortly after due to illness. This means Paxton is now one of the guardians to Liberty as the woman had no family to entrust her with. It also means, as Truly, Yancy's widow, is the co-guardian, that Paxton must hurt the woman he's come to care for yet again, by letting her know her deceased husband has a baby daughter. He intends to claim the woman he'd wished was his before, and create a family for Liberty.
"There was no telling how many hoops the wounded beauty would force me to jump through in order to prove that she was meant to be with us." - Paxton
As if Truly's childhood wasn't tragic enough with a drug-addicted dad and an alcoholic mom, she also learned, the hard way, that the man she thought would take her away from all, just created a different type of pain. She stayed for numerous reasons, but the last time was the final blow, especially considering where she was at the time. But he died before she could follow through on leaving him, and in the almost six months since, his best friend and teammate, Paxton, has been a huge help, and has continued visiting her weekly.
Pax understands Truly's need to process the bombshell he just dropped on her, as well as the intense kisses they shared after the news, something Pax has wanted to do for a long time.
Truly has a lot to think about, and some of that is questioning her ability to raise her deceased husband's baby by another woman...with Pax, a man she can admit she's attracted to. But her marriage to Yancy, and his actions, destroyed her belief in love and a happily ever after.
Pax is so happy when Truly shows up and her decision is to become part of a family with him and Liberty. Though they both know it's not going to be an easy journey. Not only are they each adjusting to being new parents, but they're also navigating the change in their relationship, and Truly is still dealing with a lot of emotional baggage.
Will Pax and Truly find their way through all these changes? Will Truly's heart heal? Will Pax's love, and Liberty, be the reason?
One-click now and follow along as two people embark on a lifelong adventure of love and happiness.
Now, on a purely personal note, I will say that I really liked that Pax was in no way portrayed as a manwhore, and was in fact the opposite, as proven by the low number of partners he's had for a man his age. That was so refreshing. But, there were two things I could've done without.
OmFG did this book pack a punch. It was heartwrenching at times and then Absolutely Heartwarming. This book has everything we love about a good, Beautiful love story.
Truly and Paxton have been dealt such a shit hand but these two still make something magical come from a rotten hand they have been given. It was beautiful watching them over come the ugly past and build a beautiful future....
This book literally had me crying like a baby. It pulled at my heartstrings. Truly is a widow and her deceased husbands best friend shows up with a surprise for her. Here’s the back story, her husband had been a relentless cheater...as in all the freaking time. She was in the hospital after her second miscarriage and his worthless ass was screwing someone at the bar....so for me their marriage was null and void. But she’s going to be with his best friend you say? Hell yes she is, because Pax and her husband weren’t on spreaking terms because of his relentless cheating. So, after all that Pax shows up with a baby girl her ex fathered on one of his many cheating nights out. And this is the other part that gutted me, the mother had no idea he was married until she saw his obituary. She found out she was pregnant and then found out she had a life threatening illness. She left her precious baby girl to Pax and Truly because they were great people. The letter she wrote Truly still gets me choked up, literally just shredded my heartstrings. All the feels.
After all of that, Pax had wanted Truly for a long time...null and void people, null and void. These two are just perfect together and it’s so nice after her childhood and what she went through with her shit of a husband. I loved seeing her get the happy ending she deserved and Pax treated her and Liberty like the princesses they were. He was a natural father and it was so refreshing. He was born to be a dad and embraced it 150%.
For me this was a safe read...the husband was completely null and void in my world. Pos is what he was, he doesn’t even count. So safe, sweet and emotional read. There was no drama with them as a couple, she references that an ex shows up for Pax, but he gets rid of her. We get a proposal, baby batter, epilogue and a well deserved hea. Great heartfelt book.
A quick read about a woman being given a second chance to have the life she's always wanted.
There was never any doubt that Truly's marriage was a lousy one, thanks to her cheating hubby. Unbeknownst to either of them, Yancy did leave something behind. . . something that gives Pax a chance for the life he wants with the woman he has wanted for a long time.
I enjoyed this story and especially enjoyed the letter to Truly.
This was so good that it I can’t believe that it was only a novella! The main characters were amazing. You go for a range of emotions such as heartbreak to anger to love to heart melt! I really did enjoy this one. The Hero was very sweet and patient towards the heroine.
Truly life was not the fairy tale she had in mine. Married to Yancy who serves his country and half the woman of their town. Tru wish to become a mother is not happening. She has dealt with a couple of miscarriages. How much more can she take? Tru is about to find out. Yancy is killed in a military accident. Paxton Graham is a solider that’s been trained to act and react. He has wanted Tru from the beginning. So when opportunity present itself he acts. Being there for Tru as she processes and deals with the death of her husband. Fate steps in and bonds them together Liberty! An innocent baby left in their care. Tru deceased husband and one night stand created an consequence of their action. Liberty parents are both dead but Paxton and Tru have been selected to become her parents. Pax sees this as the opportunity that he needs to make Tru and Liberty his family. He sets his plan in motion! The question is will Tru go alone with his plan? Will Tru see that this is her time for her to live again? To move on and have her happy end. Sarah O’Rourke has written an amazing story! I loved that from the opening pages I was pulled into the story and wanted to see how the drama was going to enfold. I was all for Tru getting her second chances at love and having a family. Paxton was so sweet and encouraging while being all alpha male. Saving Liberty is a must read. I was voluntarily given an ARC for my honest review.
What happens when one of your favourite authors writes a story for another favourite author’s series? Well, it is reader heaven, of course!
Liberty is at the center of a whole raft of drama. Little does she know it but she has two protectors that are going to ensure all becomes right…
Pax… Oh Pax. He is Delta Force strong, focused yet with a soft, marshmallow-y center. He’s sweet – yes, sweet! His words sound almost poetic at times. He yearned for love, for a family to call his own and come home to every night. That alone made me sigh wistfully more than once. And to top it all off – he’s a dirty talker. Oh yes, there’s more than one type of poetry and he has the words all sewn up!
Truly is comforted by Pax and doesn’t even realize she is being very gentled courted. History, both recent and ancient, means the situation they both find themselves in is pushing more buttons than a Vegas slot machine. She is going to take a lot of convincing but Pax is up for the job! And he is a secret weapon who is irresistible!
Sexy, emotional and full of many “aww…” moments, it only makes me want more…
This is the first time I've read anything by this author and it won't be the last.
This was a great read bring up all kinds of emotional.
The leading lady is called Truly and I loved the journey you take with her. After her husband dies just as she is about to leave him after his many indiscretion the last one being as she lay in hospital having a miscarriage. She's left hurt and angry at why couldn't she be enough for him and even now in death,he has managed to do the one thing that she hadn't been able to do.
Truly's husband friend Pax is the man we all want to meet patient loyal loving and strong. Strong enough to take on a responsibility that is not his, without any hesitation. Can he make Truly see him as something more than just her husband's friend. Can he make her trust that he is nothing like her husband. Perhaps in Saving Liberty they will also save themselves. They way they both navigate through together was so touching it was a read you just didn't want to put down.
Saving Liberty by Sarah O'Rourke is an amazing addition to Susan Stoker's Kindle World. You will love the characters. I love Paxton Graham a man so ready for love he was willing to do whatever it took to get his soul mate to love him back. And Truly deserved a man like Pax after all she'd be through. The title isn't quite right though Liberty saved them all and made them a family. What an amazing story written with honesty. The trials of a military wife is perfectly detailed in this book. Deployments are not fun and the highs and lows and the support of other women going through the same thing was perfection.Pax and Truly were perfectly paired and written beautifully. I laughed and I cried as they found their HEA. I loved the big ass military man with a heart so big he loved them all. We all need a Pax in our lives. This is a book that will be read over and over again.
Saving Liberty is a different kind of addition to Susan Stoker’s Kindle World but is a great, fun read. This novella is not your typical damsel in distress needing a strong alpha male to rescue/protect her, instead it is a sweet romance about overcoming some bad situations life has thrown your way and making the best of them and going after what you truly want with all your heart and not giving up, no matter what, until it is yours. Pax and Truly make a great team; both are thrown some challenges and Truly’s self-confidence take a hard hit but they both work through their obstacles separately and together to become whole. This story is a great emotional journey of finding your way, acceptance and love. *I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Paxton's life is not where he thought it would be, he is now juggling being a Delta Force Operative as well as a single farther while he is trying to make things work he meets old an school friend Truly at the daycare he is going to put Liberty and Truly has grown into one fine woman. We watch as they try to work out their feelings for each other their obligations keep coming between them. This is a great story about can love win over all the obstacles life has and you are definitely kept guessing while you fall in love with all the characters and want to read more of Sarah O'Rourke's books along with Susan Stoker's Kindle World.
Not quite the story that I had expected for the SS Kindle world. I expected more action or suspense, but it's a love story of two people that have to come together in a way that they didn't ever expect they would have to. The love between the characters is there, even if took some time for it to be recognized as such. We see Pax as a protector, and Truly as someone with a lot of love to give- even after the crappy life she was dealt. The author's accuracy of life as a military wife drew me in and let me focus on the story itself. I enjoyed the story very much.
Truly is now a widow. She knows of her husband's infidelity and is extremely upset. Paxton was a fellow soldier with Yancy, Truly's husband. He was well aware of Yancy's wandering. Now Paxton has Liberty whose father was Yancy but he was gone before he knew. Now Paxton has to break the news to Truly. Pax knows her dream house is across the street from Fletch and Emily. He is Uncle Pax to Annie. Now he just needs to wait and see if Truly is ready to accept him and Liberty in her life.
I loved Saving Liberty! It is the first book I have read, by Sarah O'Rourke, & it won't be my last. It is a sexy & touching story about Paxton & Truly. He is a solider, in Delta Force. Pax team mate, & best friend's widow is Tru. He has always had feelings for her, but would never act on it. Tru has had a tough life, since the day she was born. Paxton has been there for Tru. Until the day, a surprise bundle shows up, for both of them. I really enjoyed reading this book!! A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!
Oh I love a military romance!!! Paxton has been in love with one of his Delta Force brothers wife-Truly or Tru for a year and has hated how her husband, his brother on arms disrespected her. Her husband cheated on her repeatedly. When her husband dies in a training accident, Pax visits her several times weekly to show his interest. When 4 week old Liberty Belle(her husbands baby) is brought to him appointing Tru and him as new parents life gets really interesting.
One of the things that touched my heart was the way Pax was with Liberty. Then when Truly read the letter from Liberty's birth mother I cried like a baby. My heart broke from Melissa growing up in foster care and the treatment that I know is out there in the real world also. If I had a bigger place I would love to take in children and show them there is people that love them and blood isn't important. Thank you for sharing this book and I can't wait to read more.
This is probably one of the quickest books I have ever read but its definitely a swoon-worthy one. Saving liberty is a book about second chances. When life has taken everything from Truly she gets the privilege in becoming what she has long the most to be a mom. Pax honestly is a totally sweet heart who chose to be a dad to a little girl who isn't even his. Together they complete what they have longed for.... a family.
Truly knows of her husband's infidelity and is trying to move past his death. Paxton loved Truly from the moment he met her and is appalled at the disrespect given to her by her husband and best friend. He wants to give her the love she deserves. Liberty moves his timetables forward but pressing Truly too hard too soon may cause him to lose everything he wants. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
There is nothing like a story about a big strong man and a little baby that plays straight to my heart. The fact that Pax can take his best friend's love child and raise her as his own just takes his hotness up to a 10. I feel bad for Truly and her situation, but I was so glad she had a heart of gold to help take care of her dead husband's child. I am not sure I could do that, but I am glad she did.
I loved the story of this innocent little Liberty bringing Pax and Truly together. Pax is the protector, a lover, he's honorable, strong and committed. Truly had been dealt a bad hand but she is such a great person. Full of love but leary, I can't blame her at all for that. The story flows, I enjoyed the characters and the connection they had. I would recommend this be added to your TBR list.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Oh how I loved this story of Paxton and Truly. Pax has loved Truly for a while now but she belonged to another. Truly has been dealt a crappy life from childhood to her marriage. When she is dealt another blow can she pick up The pieces again. When Paxton offers her the world will she grab it or will she let the best thing to ever happen to her slip away. There are twist and turns in Their story but it will all be worth it in the end.
Truly has had a rough upbringing and then her cheating military husband, not once but multiple times. Pax was in the same Delta unit her husband was in. He confronted him more than once about this. Pax has always had a thing for Tru, but he knew she was married and off limits. Then one day they both got a suprise of their lives. Can Tru recover and find happiness. This book is mostly about them and how they cope along with a fair amount to sex.
Pax was a Delta Force soldier, confirmed bachelor, and definitely not in the market for a family. Truly was the wife of a Delta Force soldier, she was a survivor all her life even when said husband had wondering eyes. She was content to be the dutiful wife and keep the home fires burning. Fate had something else in mind for Pax and Truly and when they are literally thrown together, their futures take a drastic change of course and the result is something "Truly" unexpected.
Saving Liberty was a fun read, right from the start. Who doesn't love a big tattooed badass falling head over heels for the ladies in his life? Especially when one of those ladies is an adorable baby. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer. I enjoyed it so much, I wanted more. Read it. Read it the first chance you get. You won't regret it.
Incredibly immature writing. So many typos & getting names and timing wrong. You can’t get baby’s name wrong!! It also didn’t make much sense that these were mid-30 soldiers and one had been married to a 24 year old girl for a few years. Dialogue was written as if teens were talking. Not a bad story but disappointing telling.
I had never heard of this series before this book! But after this I need to read them! Pax was just everything you want in a man (or at least I do). I loved Truly, she was sweet and didn’t annoy me, as often heroines do! I can’t wait to read the rest!
A love story in the Stoker World with some familiar characters. A woman with bad marriage and a man in love with her. Then some bumps on the road but love conquers all.
I really enjoyed this book. I love a man who knows what he wants and goes about getting and who can resist an bada$$ soldier with a baby! This is my first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be the last.
