"Woman, do you have any idea what I could fuckin do to you? To your body? A man like me, Millie... I could really hurt you."
She didn't even cower at my coarseness. "Then do it, Rylan," she antagonized, with her Southern accent. "You don't scare me."
"Why, Millie?"
"Because I want it," she whispered. "I just want to know what it feels like."
I looked into her perfect brown orbs. What a sweet innocent creature. How can she ask me to take away what is most precious to her? I sat her back down on her feet. "We can't have everything we want, Princess Millie."
Angel looked up at me while folding her arms and pouting. "I can, actually."
Thirty-eight year old drifter, Rylan McKellan, is in the small town of Andersville, Alabama, looking for work. When his truck breaks down on a desolate rode, he meets a young woman that makes him question his carefree lifestyle.
Millie Rose is the town recluse and resides in the last standing plantation home of old Andersville. Exactly what is it about Rylan that makes Millie want to leave the comfort of her home?
DNF. This interracial romance story sounded so interesting. A drifter coming to remodel a beautiful, historic plantation home and a woman hidden away from the world. But I just couldn't deal with the fact he talked like she was just some young girl (she's 21, by the way) Smh.
Don't really care for daddy theme stories. Wish I would have known that ahead of time.
Started getting creepy. Here are just a few examples; ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Great Read! First book by this author and I thought it was a pretty good storyline. The way it ended was a bomber, so I am guessing there is a part two to this story so I hope it’s not a long wait.
Another unexpected enjoyable read. Had some fun laugh out loud moments and sweet romantic moments. Would have given 5 stars but for a couple of things that felt off to me starting with the cover. Looking at the cover and reading the book, the characters don't appear to be the same people. The other little things were not enough to turn me off the story since I am defiantly read the second book.
This was not a book I would typically read. That being said I loved it! The plot was something I hadn't read yet. It draws you in and makes you feel. It makes you root for them. It makes you want more. I can't wait to read more. It was outstanding
This was not your average boy meets girl story. This story had depth it was good had love blossom but didn't get total fulfillment. Definitely will read another book by this author
This story had a long build up to what Millie and Rylan's issues were. You know it's a build up for the second book. The writing kept me interested enough to read the second book.
Grrrrrrr was in love but spoiler alert book is a cliffhanger. There's nothing at the end that gives any sense of a part 2. This is the reason for low rating
This book was different than the usual interracial romance I read and I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to read the next one. Keep up the great work.
I decided to read this book based off the synopsis. I really enjoyed it. It can use some cleaning up but it's still so good. I need book 2 because that can't be the end.
Driftwood is such a brilliantly well crafted story arc of the angst of forbidden 💞I am completely immersed in the multi layered story , and just enjoyed every page of their sizzling🔥🔥🔥 romance. It was also refreshing to read about a MFC of color that was very wealthy & immensely accomplished who still yearned for true love. Her character is quite complex, with a heartbreakingly sad backstory of evil childhood trauma. She is both innocent & a beguiling seductress😘 Rylan is indeed a drifter, but he is a most honorable, kind, protective, alpha who cared for sweet Millie. I can't wait to read the next 📚in the series, as I'm totally invested in Rylan & Millie🤗🍷
This book was so good! I didn’t want it to end! I’m so glad it’s another part to it. Rylan and Millie were such a joy to read about. I laughed A LOT! Also, I got angry and upset of the things that happened to the both of them. But I was also happy about the love they shared although neither of them admitted to it until the end... I like the fact that Rylan protected Millie with everything he had, although he was staying for a short amount of time. This book was great and I can’t wait to read part 2.
I'm disappointed....the story didn't end it just finished. This was not good enough for me, the story started slow but it was a nice love story with two lonely characters, three if you include Millie's housekeeper. The end in has really spoilt this book for me... a disappointment.
Some reviews felt it had a daddy/daughter feel to it but I didn't get that at all. She was of age (21) when they met so I don't see the issue. I liked the story very much. I liked that it was different than most IR stories (age difference, woman has money) and the career choices were interesting. I will probably read more from the author in the future.
He definitely took advantage of the situation and the girl. A reclusive, sequestered, very young woman has no business being hooked up with a 40 year old man. Not to mention this same man using "pulling out" as a form of birth control with that same girl.
Millie and Rylan were too cute together. Rylan got her to open up which was good. What happened to her was horrible. I loved her mom and Lenora they were too funny. As of right now I strongly dislike rock. Hopefully my open will change in next book. Off to read part 2.
I felt this could have been told in one story. It was too drawn out for me. I also wasn't fond of the main female character. I felt she could have been stronger.
This was a outstanding book it was so good I never read anything by this author. My only problem was the ending how could you just end the book like that. I can't wait for part 2 hopefully
Pages flowing with passion, emotions. and steamy sex! Rylan is an older rugged alpha who stumbles into Millie's protective bubble (called living) ! While working on restoring her home Rylan finds himself falling for the innocent sweet " Angel Face" ! Hope there is a part 2 or 3 ! This one needs a Happily Ever After !!!!!! Great writing!
I loved this story line. Loved the characters. This book proved that age ain't nothing but a number. Love is what matters. I know there is going to be a part 2 and I can't wait.
I really loved reading this book. I thought it was well written and the love story seem so true. But the one and only part I did not like is how this book ended, if this was a book 1 only then I could understand the ending!😐
Very interesting story. I do, however, have a problem with the age difference. I think she is way to young for a grown " a" man. Cause even as fiction , any fool knows how this story would really end
I can't believe how this story ended. I sure hope there is a sequel to this. I want to see an HEA for Millie and Rylan. I feel cheated. Just when Millie is healing from her past and coming out of her shell because of Rylan's influence, daddy Rock Rose throws a brick that just ruins everything.
Both Rylan and his angel face Millie Rose were healing balm for each other. Rylan helped Millie get over her childhood trauma and Millie showed Rylan that there can be a loving home for him and that he could allow himself to love and be loved without fear of his love leaving him. They both unintentionally fell in love with each other which was a new phenomenon for both of them. They had to deal with all of the new feelings that love brought including jealousy.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, even if it made me cry at the end.
This was a such a good book and story line that when I got to the end of the book, I thought I was gonna get an epilogue or the HEA, and nothing... If there is a book 2, I am hoping it comes out in a couple of days, so I still have the first part still fresh in my mind, if not, I really think that author, publishing company should have at least say something but now it made it feels like selling was to great than being honest... I am not usually so mad, but having read a lot of books and a lot of story line, this was so different, so realistic, so real, that it became quickly one of my favorites
Great book. I was not a fan of the May/December romance but they complimented each other. There has to be a book 2. Where is book 2? It can't end like this.
