A nice general review of Edison's life. I enjoyed reading it especially the part where Edison is competing against other contemporary inventors/entrepreneurs. I thought the first part of the book is unnecessary where the author talks about the big Edison family and where they originally came from. I anticipated the book to be more specific to Edison's work and life. Generally, it's a good, quick read and I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn something about Edison's life.
Kindle Unlimited but lucked out and got on a freebie day. Nice companion reading or go along to Nikola Tesla: A Captivating Guide to the Life of a Genius Inventor. Notice a lot of the steampunk/alternate reality stories tend to have thse 2 together, along with Ford sometimes, with really alternate ones having a few other 'regular'. Imagine...all those Geniuses, real geniuses, in one place, on time, one reality....

This "series" of captivating guides biographies, histories, and what-nots are excellently written, and really are captivating, packed with interesting tidbits. They're quick little reads, like a long magazine article. I can easily see going through one on an airplane trip. Of the few where I have been pretty intimately familiar with the subject I have not found any factual errors, so they're clearly researched.
Overall, while these are hardly exhaustive academic tomes, they are quick and entertaining and 10X better than watching mindless TV. Highly recommended.
