This novella takes places during the events of Cloaked in Shadow and it was really interesting to see things from the Prince's POV. I love Ben's writing and so I really wish this novella had been longer, that's why I couldn't quite give it the 5 stars. So excited to read the next instalment of this series!

Also, can we take a minute to stare at that gorgeous cover?! I absolutely love it!

I was lucky enough to read & critique (yes, I am still gushing over this fact) a copy of #PrinceofFlames (a novella that takes place b4 #CloakedinShadow) and of course, it was fantastic! Containing elements of Maas & Aveyard & Snyder, this ebook is perfect for fans of YA fantasy.

I flew through the pages & awed at the prose! The characters felt very multi-dimensional with back stories that curiously pulled me in. And the plot is super intriguing. (I love a villain with complex morals.) Super excited for others to read this & to read Ben's next book in the series! If you want a heart-wrenching story with complex characters - PICK THIS UP!

while this is short (it is a prequel novella!!) this was packed full of emotion and that is incredible. benjamin's writing is so flawless and paints such a vivid picture in my mind. i loved the little stories and was tearing up on page two. the ending was the perfect set up for cloaked in shadow. by the way, if you have not read cloaked in shadow yet.....GO DO THAT RIGHT NOW!!!

however, you can read prince of flames first before cloaked in shadow if you wish. :)

Just recently, I had the privilege of reading Prince of Flames. A novella that offers fans of "Cloaked in Shadow", a view into the mind of our beautiful and yet mysterious, Prince Hadrian of Thessolina. Needless to say when given the opportunity for glimpse of it, I took it up right away.

I am happy to say, I was not disappointed! The story opens and I am deep within its words. Before I knew it, I was done with it. I craved more the moment it ended.

I craved the feeling of being immersed in its rich and smooth story-telling.

I wanted more of Hadrian; more of his thoughts and his secrets.

But I guess for now, I'll wait.

And when it comes, I will lock myself away, in the comforts of my blanket and just keep reading away.

100% reccomend to fans of "Cloaked in Shadow" and to those who have not read "Cloaked in Shadow", please just go pick yourself up a copy. Its sad that you're missing out.

Sign me up to know more about the characters from Cloaked In Shadow EVEYRDAY.

“I am stone, fire and strength."

This prequel short-story shows us a little bit more about our favorite Prince, Hadrian.
And I loved to know more about what was like when his mother was alive, how was the King before everything and to just read more about Hadrian in general.
We have some great description of his mother and I felt so nostalgic reading it, like it was something from my past...a true magician (Ben) with his words.
It's a perfect story to see Hadrian before Zac enters his life and changes everything(for the better).

If you are craving more from this series then you need to read this!!!! Ben has the ability to seduce you in to this magical world of secrets, lies and lust.

This novella gives you a window into Hadrian’s head and heart making you fall in love with him. Be prepared to feel every emotion Hadrian feels and the secrets within.

Ben’s style of writing makes you feel like you are right there with the characters, you feel like you can hear and smell the world he has created around you. Do not miss out on this fantastic piece of work!

Intense and Magical!

I love the way the story builds. You really get into the characters, the plot, and the story itself! My only complaint is that it's too short! I need more!

This prequel is a splendid short story that I eagerly devoured. I have found a new favorite author and I definitely look forward to reading more of their work.

Five stars!

So, I haven't read the first book yet, but I figured it would be a good idea to read this first.
This novella centers around a character named Prince Haridan and it is taking place before his birthday feast. His father, who was never really in his life and never really wanted anything to do with him, thought it was a good idea to have this feast, but Haridan is suspicious as to why.
I just thought this was okay and thought the writing was good. I do, however, wish it was longer and that was really a semi-grip. Maybe it's because I haven't read the first book and that's why I have a problem with the length, but I do wish it was longer.
Overall, I do think this was okay for what it was and I do plan on reading the first book in the series.

This prequel gave some lovely insight into the character of Hadrian, in particular some of his relationships with other characters. It was especially good to see a bit more background to his relationship with his mother, and with Fadine.

Plot-wise, it's set during the beginning of Cloaked in Shadow, so if you've read that (which I'll have to assume you have if you're planning to read this one!) then you already know what's going on, but as readers we get to see just how little Hadrian really knew about the events that were unfolding.

If you enjoyed Cloaked in Shadow, this little story can offer you a closer look at how Hadrian felt about events and other characters at the beginning of the novel, and might tide us over until book 2 comes out!

Although this is a short story, I loved small insight into Hadrian's life. Although I would have loved to see more about the times when he was working with Zacriah, I cannot complain due to the beautiful insight into some of Hadrian's life.
This short story was a great little filler until we could get the second book, although it just left me longing for the second book due to my love for the characters and wanting to see if they all survive and if the characters that I have fallen in love with have a happy ending.

This is a very interesting short story that leaves more questions that it gives answers. It is very intriguing indeed, and it made me pick up the first novel immediately. The story follows Prince Hadrian's memories of times spent with his late mother and the events culminating the feast organised by his father for his eighteenth birthday. I enjoyed it greatly.
This prequel is followed by two novels Cloaked in Shadow (The Dragori Series Book 1) and Found in Night (The Dragori Series Book 2).

exactly what I needed after book one, prince of flames gave deeper insight to the different side characters that needed more back ground in book one and overall gave more depth to the story as a whole, the most amazing thing about this novella is that it was done in like 20 pages 👏💞 great job Ben

I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of this novella. Even if I didn't get an early copy I would have picked it up on my own as I really enjoyed Clocked in Shadow. Just like Cloaked in Shadow, I really enjoyed Prince of Flames. I really liked reading from the princes pov! If you enjoyed Cloaked in Shadow then I think you should definitely read this novella.

I really like it. The only reason I didn't give this more than three stars is because is a novella with 23 pages that didn't contain enough information for me. It was pretty interesting the moment when Prince Hadrian saw the boy with hair of silver (I think he's the main character of Cloaked in Shadow). I can't wait to read the first book of this series.

It was short and I actually wished it to he quite longer or, at least, have one certain scene from Cloaked in Shadow in this one too but obviously it would have been from Hadrian's POV. Nevertheless, I loved to read and see more from Hadrian's perspective. Absolutely would love to see more stuffs from his perspective and know more about the accident, where his mother died and how close their bond really was. And why his father actually despises him.

Maybe it's because I haven't read any of the main series, but none of the characters or events in this novella caught my attention. I've read fantasy worlds with abusive kings, I've read fantasy worlds where someone poisons a feast. There wasn't anything original about this other than the gay undertones with the elf.

Not entirely bad, but doesn’t add anything. Also, soooooooo poorly copy-edited. I think the spelling and grammar are even worse here than in Cloaked in Shadow, and that was already pretty egregious. Makes me not want to bother continuing with Book 2 unless Alderson gets some help and puts out fully revised editions.
