Why does something so wrong feel so right? And would this mean, I lose my daughter forever? I can’t let that happen!
Boyce ~ I was a broken man, trying to heal. She was my daughter’s best friend. Strictly off limits… Until that one night, when she looked… all grown up.
Vivian ~ The day I lost my parents changed everything. Thankfully, I found a soft place to land. But when I grew up and moved away, I couldn’t get him out of my head. Now, I’m all grown up, he’s single, and we’re both willing.
This book is about an older man who is widowed and lost his wife to cancer and he was devastated. His daughter had a best friend and she lost them when she was young. He was able to raise Vivian because he was good friends with her parents and thought it would be best for the two girls to have each other after their loss. After she get older and she is (of course) of legal age, things change between them and they start to fall for each other.
Not a bad story, but it was pretty boring for the most part and the writing was also just so-so.
I just could not get into this story at all. I had issues with the fact that Boyce raised Vivian. If she would not have been raised by him I would have been okay with the story.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
ok, I kind of knew what to expect when I read the reviews but I have to say I still felt like reading it because i wanted to know how in the world this was going to happen.. I was grossed out at times, like when Boyce was imaging having sex with Vivian and she was underage..yuck, plus he raised her from the age of 10, she was like a daughter to him..Anyhoo I really can't understand why I did it..
This one is a forbidden taboo romance, it has a good story but I'm sorry it's not my favorite. A step dad with step daughter romance, yeah I'm so sorry it's not for me. The forbidden things just a bit too much for me, it makes me uncomfortable, it's just me, not the book, it's just not my thing, so it makes me hard to enjoy it. I wished I could tell and explain more without spoiling it. All I can say is that it's just a matter of preference and unfortunately I'm one of the people who can't really get into this kind of relationship story. But if you like forbidden romance, you might like this one.

My Best Friend's Dad is a steamy older man/younger woman taboo romance. Book is a good blend of romance, drama and lots of emotional turmoil. I'm posting a voluntary, honest review after reading an advance copy of this book.
Boyce raised Vivian from the time she was 10 and her parent were killed. Bella is daughter was her best friend. Now Vivian is all grown up and the chemistry between her and Boyce is steamy. They share a night together before she goes off to college, but will it be enough? This is a fast-paced read with plenty of drama and steam. I liked the characters as well as the story. A good read.
The story was fast pace, engaging and well-written, Hot older man younger woman forbidden romance, I loved it and I couldn't put it down. HOT chemistry between Boyce and Vivian. As the saying goes age is only a number. I will definitely read again,I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy
I decided to explore taboo age-gap romance. It’s not something I was interested before and I didn’t know if I would like it because these kind of relationships seem very unconventional even in today’s society.
I’m glad that I read this book. I actually read a few of the books with the similar topic, and I think I liked this book the most. It wasn’t a short read which I liked, and the way this relationship was described felt very real to me.
The main characters are Boyce and Vivian. Boyce is a single father. His wife Nora passed away four years ago from breast-cancer. He loved his wife a lot, and even though he slept with a lot of women after he finished mourning, he felt nothing for them, and hardly ever slept with he same woman twice.
Boyce and Nora had a daughter together, Bella. A few years ago she met Vivian in the kindergarten, and the girls became inseparable. The story starts when Bella and Vivian are ten years old, and Vivian’s parents suddenly die. Vivian’s father was Boyce’s best friend, so Boyce didn’t even think twice before taking Vivian in and eventually adopting her so that she could stay with him and Bella forever.
Years go by. Bella and Vivian still stay the best friends but Vivian and Boyce’s relationship starts to change. When Vivian is in middle school, she finally notices Boyce as more than a father figure and realizes that he is hot. She start dating other boys but she still has a crush for him but knows it will never lead to anything. About the same time, Boyce realizes that Vivian is not a little girl anymore, that she is growing up and become beautiful. Both keep their feelings hidden for years, but as they soon learn you can only hide what you feel for so long.
During her senior year, the chemistry between Vivian and Boyce grows to unprecedented levels, and Boyce acknowledges it to Vivian but tells her nothing will ever happen between them. After this, things are a little bit awkward between them for a while but they go back to normal. That is until Bella leaves for Julliard in New York, and Boyce realizes that he can’t fight his feelings for Vivian anymore. And this is how their unconventional relationship begins.
I know that there are some parts in the beginning of the story that “grossed out” other reviewers. I refer to when the time Vivian was in middle school. Before I read this book, I would have thought that I would feel the same but when I was reading it, I didn’t feel that way at all. To me, it was more like a normal development, just the way the life is, up to the point that I would have been surprised if their chemistry didn’t start than if it actually did.
Some other reviewers say that this whole relationship between Vivian and Boyce is horrible, even if they started it when Vivian was of the age of consent (18), and she had previous sexual experience with guys her age, because Boyce brought her up since she was 10. What everybody forgets to mention (or maybe it’s just me who likes to calculate things) is that Boyce is 28 years older than Vivian. You heard me, 28 years older. Again, before I read this book, I thought that something like this would be a cause to raise my eyebrows and stare incredulously but when I was reading this book I realized that I absolute don’t care about this. All I care is that two people who are above age of consent, two adults are in a consensual relationship. Once they have a conversation about being exclusive, they stay exclusive, and they eventually realize that they love each other. Everything else is nobody else’s business.
I was happy that besides all the obstacles they started this relationship and stayed together. Though I cannot imagine how hard it was to keep it secret and not being able to tell anybody, not even their best friends what was happening, until they went public.
When Vivian was 10 years old, both her parents died in a tragic accident. Fortunately for her, her best friend Bella's dad, Boyce, took her in so she could grow up with her best friend. Boyce, has not had the easiest of lives as he was devastated when his wife died and it took years for him to get over it. He is a hard-working man who adores his daughter and loves Vivian in a paternal way and cares for them both the very best that he can. I did feel uncomfortable when I read about him having sex with some woman but thinking only of Vivian whilst doing so? Now many young teenagers are so beautiful both inside and out that there is always the risk of men/boys loving them. But Boyce does not act on his feelings for her - otherwise I would not have been able to read the rest of the book. Bella Winters/Mia Ford is such a fabulous author that she creates a plot that makes you really think, and I certainly did about this one, and characters with emotions and personalities that you can gate, love or like. I did eventually love the way that Boyce felt for Vivian as his was a genuine adult love for her, as an adult, and not those for a little girl! Vivian is a mature young woman who grew up fast when her mum and dad died and she has had a crush on Boyce for years so I wasn't too surprised with what happened between them. Mia has a real talent at making the 'people' come alive as you read the book and whilst I would have a bit longer period for them to have together as a couple within this book I could understand their genuine feelings for one another and the intimate moments between them were amazing and sensuous and full of love, passion and caring and , of course, HEAT! Despite that moment at the beginning, I did love this story as Mia pens her stories with a relaxed flowing style that takes you alone for the ride of the story and leaves the reader to enjoy. There is a warning in the blurb about the nature of the book and I believe that is sufficient to warn people who would find it offensive to avoid. I did read it and, all things taken into account, I read it with an open mind. It is a really good, well written, fast paced story that, apart from the blip where I paused, I really did enjoy it and as Vivian was over 18 when they did succumb to their passions for one another, I have no problem with their age differences.

DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED
I am now looking forward to Mia's next story with enthusiasm!
P.S. There are some fantastic bonus stories that the reader also has the opportunity to read and I will certainly be buying a copy of this to add to my collection of books that I want to re-read in future.
Vivian and Bella became fast friends when they were little which brought their parents together as friends also. When Vivian's parents died Boyce took her in and raised her with his own daughter Bella. As Vivian got older she looked at Boyce as more than a father figure but didn't think anything could come of it so she started dating older boys in her school. Boyce wasn't happy about this and sat her down to talk to her about it. Vivian kind of gives in and concentrates on her studies but she knows that she still wants Boyce. Boyce thinks he will finally be able to move on from wanting Vivian when the girls leave for college but that's not the case. One night they give in to each other and then start sneaking around to be together. Can they have a real relationship with the obstacles they face? What will Bella do when she finds out?
This was a great story about a forbidden relationship. The heat between Boyce and Vivian just about melted my kindle. This was a well written story and will keep you entertained from the first page until the end. If you haven't read anything by Bella Winters then this would be a great book to start with.
My Best Friend's Dad by Bella Winters Boyce was in limbo after the love of his life, Nora, died. All he he had left was their daughter, Bella. Vivian was lost when her parents died. All she had left was her BFF Bella, they were only ten. Boyce adopted Vivian and things took off from there. Viv mooned over Boyce since she was ten, and those feelings never went away. Boyce looked at her that way too, but not right away; they both knew it was wrong. And what about Bella? This is a rather tense, but sexy story. Their age difference is 20+ years! How's that going to work? And the girl's are going to be going to college. Is Boyce just missing his wife, is he just lonely? Or Is it "empty nest" syndrome? There's a lot of uncomfortable questions. Is it all taboo? What can come of all this? How is Bella going to feel sharing her friend with her father? Those are the questions that kept going through my mind. You have to keep an open mind and really feel what these people are experiencing. I like them all, but I'm still not sure how I feel....you decide. An enlightening book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.
I'm always down for a good taboo romance, but this story was beyond superficial.
Vivian lost her parents as a child and was taken in by the single father of her best friend. (Hero's wife died of cancer.) He then raises her alongside his biological daughter. A romance between them would be super taboo, even though they were not related by blood. On paper, I was okay with this.
The bad: 1. The way our hero started thinking about Vivian in inappropriate ways at an age I considered creepy. She was already lusting after him when she hit the 8th grade. At this point, he should just have been 'Dad'. 2. There was no real connection between the characters other than enjoying loads of time between the sheets. 3. The entire story was superficial and the characters had no depth whatsoever. 4. I'm not a fan of characters sleeping with other people once they've already slept with each other. (Vivian has a one night stand with a college guy.) Just no. 5. The book was boring af.
The only thing saving this from being a 1 star is the fact that the characters were actually likeable and I didn't hate them. That said, this book wasn't good.

I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy. This was a compelling older man-best friend’s dad/younger woman story. Boyce is a widower just starting to get on with his life after his beloved wife’s death. He’s raising his daughter and working hard to provide a good life and bright future for her when his best friend and his wife are killed in an accident. He takes in their child Vivian, who is also his daughter’s best friend, and raises her. Years later, he starts to realize that he sees Vivian as far more than his ward. He seeks to ignore his attraction with drinking and other women and continues to watch over Vivian. What happens when she’s 19 and lets him know that she feels the same way? Vivian has always been grateful to Boyce for taking her in and making sure that she always has what she needs. But as she hits adolescence, she starts to see Boyce as a very attractive man, one that she begins to fantasize about as she hears him with women in his bedroom. When she’s 19, she wants to pursue this attraction and let’s him know it. Oh, my! What then ensues!
Closer to 3.5 stars...I am all for the whole best friend's dad trope, but this one felt skeevy in the beginning. Within the first couple off chapters you discover that as a tween, (10-11) Vivian starts crushing on Boyce, and at the same timeframe (when Boyce is 36ish) he admits to imagining it's Vivian while having sex with other women. When they do consummate things, she's just turned 18. If I ignored the whole skeeve factor in the beginning, it was a really good read. Full of feels, super steamy and it is well written (technically speaking). Besides the beginning, my only other issue is that I feel like it could have been longer...gotten a little more in depth once after they became a couple. Large spasms of time were covered in one or two paragraphs. Except for my issue with the beginning of the book, this is a really good read, which is why it still has a decent star rating from me. I received this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Very well written story with great storyline and plot. Full of expanse and hotness. I like that the characters are relatable and likeable. I like the twists and the challenges the story has. I like the main characters and how they develop. I like that the characters take time. They really do not let themselves take apart but gives it time to see how it all develops. It is a bit quirky but because they are not related it is okay and I think it is a good theme to bring up and it is very well handled in this story.
The epilogue is very welcomed and gives the story more to it and it finishes better of than without it. It is written in dual POV which gives the reader much more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. There are family issues, passion, emotions, hot scenes and lots of chemistry in this amazing story.

This is a different take on a story with an older man and his daughters best friend. Bella lost her mother early on and her best friend Vivian was there for her. A couple years later Vivian lost her parents in an accident with no family to take her her. Vivian and her father, Boyce have Vivian live with them from 10 years old. It was planned should anything happen Boyce would have custody of Vivian as he was best friends with her parents. Boyce was her father figure and only adult for many years. Over the later teen years there is a tangible connection between them and they fight it for some time. One night it becomes too much and they fall into a taboo and irregular relationship. It’s interesting to see how they both react and the experience they have with one another. What will happen when Bella finds out along with Boyce’s family and friends? Will the girls ever have a friendship like before? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Boyce is the single father of Vivian’s best friend Bella, having lost his wife, but he is also the man who took Vivian in after her parents died.
Knowing his attraction to Vivian is wrong and that he could very well lose his daughter if he was to act on his feelings, he tries to forget and hide them.
Vivian also has feelings for Boyce and both fighting their feelings can only lead to one thing!
The night before Vivian heads of to college, they both finally give in and their chemistry is off the charts!
Boyce who put all his effort into work to hide his loneliness never thought he would ever find love again, let alone with his daughters best friend!
They choose to keep their relationship secret as they know, not many people will be happy for them, but as always it can’t stay a secret forever.
When the time comes, will Bella be happy for them?
Can Boyce and Vivian really make a go of things? Only time will tell!

I was in the mood for something light and older man/ younger woman/taboo trope is one of my all time faves to read about. This one had high hopes but fell flat for me. I didn't connect with either character and didn't really buy into how they fell in love or developed feelings. Something was missing for me. The huge jumps in time was an issue too. I don't need to read about their daily activities but one minute she was 10 and the next she was a junior in high school then she started her senior year and a chapter later she was graduating. IDK it was just off for me. I didn't think Boyce was that mature either. At one point he asked if he did something wrong and I don't know but it made me roll my eyes. It didn't seem like something someone that age would say, not in those circumstances. A lot of potential but was kind of meh for me. I forced myself to finish and wasn't satisfied with the way everything unfolded. I was expecting more I guess.
My Best Friend's Dad was an amazingly hot and sexy book, however, it was tastefully written by none other then the very talented Bella Winters. At the tender age of ten year, Vivian, lost both of her parents and was raised along with her best friend, Bella. Boyce lost his wife and while he raised both girls as his own, his feelings for Vivian began to change. While I am sure some wouldn't like a plot like this, I loved it. Boyce and Vivian are just fated. Clearly yearning for one other, sooner or later, you knew it would just be a matter of time. What will happen when Bella finds out? What will Boyce's family or colleges say? Find out by reading all the way through this terrific book to their hard won happily ever after. Whew, exceptional work.
I was incredibly fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and couldn't of loved it more. I highly recommend My Best Friend's Dad as well as Ms. Bella Winters every time.
I am quite divided in my appreciation. Boyce is a single dad since his wife died from cancer, and he takes care of is daughter (Bella), and her best friend Vivian since her parents died in a car accident. But when Vivian grows, Boyce and her are attracted and they feel really bad about this for years. They’re are really struggling it, then, they think it will be casual, but it's more complicated. I liked that they take time and don’t rush into their relation from their attraction to acknowledgement of their love. In the same time, the story is not slow thanks to the writing style and lot of sex scenes. But I don’t understand why the last chapters seem to be cut. The narrator tells us what happen but we are out of the text, not with the characters. It’s a really strange changing in the style, and it was disturbing for me.
This new book by Bella Winters is a hot older man younger woman romance that is about love that is forbidden but can’t help the hot chemistry that runs through them both. We follow the lives of Boyce and Vivian who have been fighting there feels for each other cause they know it’s not right but can’t deny it any longer the night before Vivian heads of to college. Boyce is a hard working father that has spent lots of hours at work thinking he would never find love again but when he does he never expected it to be with his daughters best friend. A lot of people aren’t going to be happy with a older man with a much younger woman so they don’t say anything for a long time, but when the time comes will the family and Boyce’s daughter Bella be happy for them and if not what will happen to Boyce and Vivian. Only time will tell.
Vivian and Bella have been friends since they were in elementary school, their parents friends as well. When Vivian's parents are killed, she goes to live with Bella. Bella also has suffered a tragedy, as her mother has died. Her dad, Boyce, takes care of both girls with the help of his staff; but always tries to make special time for them. As Vivian matures, she begins to have feelings for Boyce that are not "parental" in nature. Boyce also starts to admire the beautiful young woman that Vivian is becoming. Before Vivian leaves for college, they submit to their desires. They keep their relationship from Bella. Will this be a long lasting relationship, or is this just a fling? You need to read this sizzling, taboo story to find out if they get their must deserved HEA. I received an advanced readers copy of this book
Boyce was best friends with Vivian’s father and she went to live with him after her parents dies when she was ten. She was best friends with his daughter Bella since grade school and when Bella’s mother died of cancer it was the three of them. Boyce worked by made time for the girls. As Vivian got older the two were getting attracted to each other but kept it to themselves. The night before she was leaving for college the tension between them was to much and they had a passionate night together. They kept it to to themselves because it was forbidden because of the age difference and what Bella would think. So she left for college. When she came home they couldn’t leave other alone because they loved each other. If they let the family and Bella know how they feel will they be ostracized or will the shock wear off they have acceptance?
I stopped reading when Vivian was talking about Boyce with other women in the house. I do not want to read about main characters being with other people like that, especially after they've met the person they end up with. I also think it's disrespectful he do that with random women in the house he shared with his wife, and to do it when Vivian was there? That's horrible and disgusting. I don't care if he's eventually going to change. I wouldn't have minded if the stuff had happened before the book's timeline, because I understand most people aren't monks, and I know people get lonely and make mistakes. But, I certainly don't want to read about it, especially since the woman he ends up with has had to hear have sex with other women. Wtf? I hate when books are like this. I likely won't read anything else by this author.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Wow! What a hot and steamy read with a touch of taboo. Viv is a young woman who lost her parents and ended up living with her best friend for the next ten years. Boyce was there for Viv when she needed someone to provide the stability she needed at the time. Now that they meet again and Viv is no longer the little girl he once knew but instead an adult who Royce begins to notice in a whole new light. Boyce is now single and having thoughts about Viv and worrying whether he can keep for acting on them and hurting his daughter. Viv is wondering the same thing. She has developed a deep attraction for Boyce and doesn't want to hurt her friend. Can the two find the HEA they both want? Will the love they have for one another hurt others? This is a must read and I could not put it down until the end.

What should I say about this one? I liked it for the most part. However, one thing sort of ruined the reading for me. It says in the beginning somewhere, i.e. in the first few chapters, that he adopted his best friends daughter. Well if you adopt someone, they become your legal child, not only like stepchildren. But they become just as much your kid as if it was your own flesh and blod. So this is actually a bit too twisted for general human relations. Had she only just lived with him - as if she were his daughter, well that is a whole different cup of tea. So the rest of the book was ok, a bit drawn out and long. It is actually a question of two or three stars? In the end I am opting for the two stars because of this mentally scik thing of being with your daughter that is inces of the worst...Actually it should only get one star because of that...
4.5 Stars! If you like winter and summer romances this is a good one with a bit of a twist. There is Vivian who's parents die tragically when she is young and her best friend's dad adopts her so that she can stay with his daughter. Then there is Boyce, the dad, whose wife died of cancer years ago and he is a single parent taking care of his daughter and now his daughter's friend. There is a connection between the two that is not of a father/daughter relationship. Will he act on it? Will they be able to stay away from each other? Will it end badly if other's find out they are sleeping with each other? You'll need to read the book to find out. Story is well written and there is good character development.
I voluntarily wrote this review from reading an advanced copy of this book
Boyce is a good man. After losing his wife, he takes care of his daughter and her best friend Vivian, and grows his business. Vivian is a sweet young woman who has also suffered tragedy in losing her parents. Having been raised by Boyce she is so grateful. As she gets older she starts having different feelings for him. Both of them fight to keep their feelings at bay until Boyce reaches his point and then the two try to navigate what they want from one another and how to handle being together. I thought the story was sweet at first with the way Boyce cared for his girls. Then once Vivian grew up and they got together, the story definitely got super hot and even though they had so many things working against them , I think they made a great pairing. This is a must read!
