I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

A former cop turned record store owner in "Ozark City," aka Branson, is the victim of shoplifting. Some punk kid takes a signed record of a novelty hit. The punk's accomplice, a poor little rich girl leaves her phone at the store.

This leads the amateur sleuth to a couple of fading celebrities, a murder, holograms, and firebombings.

Sort of a hard boiled cozy.

Part mystery, part noir, part thriller, "Answer Death" kicks ass and doesn't even bother taking names. It burns like a shot of good whiskey. I read it pretty much in one sitting, with a break here and there to meed bodily needs. Excellent story.

Well written thriller/mystery with some great characters and music references! Dan, Howard and Marti are fun characters well fleshed out. The plot was engaging and had plenty of twists.

I live in Arkansas so it was easy to recognize Ozark City as Branson, MO so that made it more fun for me. I bet I even know where the antique counter from Arkansas came from. (Botkenburg, AR). If anyone is an antique fan and you are near Arkansas, a trip to Botkenburg is a required stop.

Very good reading and interesting . Dan Spalding is an ex State Trooper. As a Person once said you can take the perfession out of the person but not the person out of the profession . As demonstrated by the Actions of Dan as he tries to investigate a murder by the Person who stoled a record from his store.

I thought this was a well written, fast-paced mystery/thriller with good characters and an interesting setting. I don't think I've read a book set in modern day Missouri before. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.

Ex-cop Dan Spalding, now owns a vintage record store. When a very valuable album is stolen. he gives chase and the chase ends in death. the punk that stole it ends up with a hole in his head at the same time the artist gets his head bashed in. Now Dan has a problem, because now, he is a target.

Nice Read

Enjoyable story which takes place in small American resort town. Fast paced but light, easy reading. Fun to read, with good plot and character development.

Combination of cozy mystery and noir thriller. Good writing, well rounded characters and nice hint of romance. The end is a bit forced but all together 4.5 stars!

Good read

I liked it more than I thought I would. I had never heard of this author before but the plot sounded good so I tried it. Glad I did. Strong main character that started to develop nicely. Good secondary characters. The story line came together nicely. Volume 2 will be my next read. Recommended.
