The House Where Angels Dwell

Rate this book
The House Where Angels Dwell, the sixth book in the award winning, best selling, Angelic Letters Series may be the most important book you will ever read. Ripplinger's clear, captivating writing style, will guide you through the lives of his beloved characters, to find purpose and meaning with eternity always in mind. ------------------------------------------ After decades apart, Henry and Jenny are finally married and living on Henry's acreage situated on a hillside overlooking a beautiful panoramic valley. They couldn t be happier. While Henry is finding fulfillment painting landscapes in his studio, Jenny is leading Bible studies as they relate to marriage and family with small groups of ladies in the city. The only thing that could make Jenny happier would be to bear Henry a child. Although her age and the fact her body was ravaged by cancer is working against her, Jenny prays with Father Engelmann for another miracle in her life. In the most unexpected way, she makes a covenant with God to be blessed with a child. Will God answer Jenny's heartfelt wish and prayer? Ever since Father Engelmann was miraculously healed from his near death experience, life at the care home was never the same. He was sought after from both near and afar. More and more, he felt called to withdraw from the on-going hustle and bustle of the city to the prayer house beside the pond in the valley on Henry s acreage. In the quietness and serenity of the small chapel in the prayer house, Father continues to offer up his prayers and Mass offerings for his flock. Come, sit on the deck beside the prayer house and become a part of the family of characters who talk to Father about life challenges that really matter. Often, there is silence between the sounds of nature in which you will hear the flutter of wings as God whispers to His angels to speak to your heart. ------------------------------------------ Whatever your state in life, and for whatever reason you pick up this book, once you read the Angelic Letters Series, you will never be the same again

The first half of the book was very boring and repetitive. I’m glad I pushed through as I want to complete the series. The last half had a very good story line.

Jenny and Henry have been married for years and now and all Jenny wants to do is give Henry a heir. She keeps praying to God to give her one and talks to Father Engeann about it. Henry and Jenny are now in their 50s so it’s even harder and more unlikely they would conceive and have a healthy baby . Yet, God hears her prayers and they do get pregnant. But, now it’s a hard pregnancy that keeps getting worse as time goes on and poor Henry can only think of his late wife Julean’s same symptoms and how later they lost their baby and later also Julean.
Now Henry has a tough choice to make when Jenny goes into an induced coma. Keep the baby she so adores and wants , and has a huge chance of losing both or abort the baby and save Jenny.

This book was, as in the case of the previous five, an emotional rollercoaster which takes us on a journey through love, beliefs, and faith.

I am not a religious person and, at times, found the constant biblical quotes to be too much. However, this does get toned down in the last 2/3 of the story. In spite of that, I think this series has opened my mind to possibilities as well as awakened my curiosity. This does seem to be based closely to Catholicism which is something to consider when deciding to read this series. But the message is very clear.

I do recommend this book and the 5 previous in this series.

Negatives for me were the long drawn out homilies by the Priest. I believe the point could have been mode without it taking up whole chapters. I was finding I was dreading reading those types of chapters. I also found many errors that the author’s editing missed which was frustrating.

Otherwise, I enjoyed watching the lives of the characters I came to know play out, enter-twine and grow. Being so invested now with six books, I just have to read the final book seven!

We continue on with the love story of Henry and Jenny. They have finally married and are living on Henry's acreage. Father Engelmann also lives on the property.

The only desire Jenny has now is to have a baby with Henry. She is so happy when she knows the Good Lord gave her her heart's desire.

I'm glad that Justin eventually accepted Jenny.

Very repetitive. Too much preaching. I did not enjoy this one as much as the previous books in the series. Should have stopped at 5. I found it dragged...
