Hadley Harlyton’s life has always been about three things: 1. Making sure her three younger sisters stay out of trouble. 2. Getting good grades so she can get into a decent college. 3. Drag racing.
She doesn’t have time for anything else, especially guys and dating. So when her family moves to the rural town of Honeyton, and right next door to the Porterson brothers, her life gets thrown for a turn.
The Porterson brothers are all gorgeous, arrogant, and according to the rumors around town, dangers. And they won’t leave Hadley and her sister’s alone. Finally, Hadley can’t take it anymore and challenges Blaise, the oldest of the Porterson brothers, to a drag race. If she wins, Blaise and his brothers won’t bother Hadley and her sisters anymore. If she loses, she has to spend the next month doing favors for the Porterson brothers.
But when the race is declared a tie, they both end up winning and losing.
As Hadley starts doing Blaise favors, she realizes there’s more to him than the cocky front he puts on. That he’s kind, caring, and has a lot in common with her.
Still, no matter how much she may like Blaise, she refuses to fall for him. But when disaster strikes, Blaise might be the only person Hadley can turn to for help.

Chasing Hadley was an okay book. Hadley and her sisters were likable in a way but they were also super annoying. I definitely kept flip-flopping around about whether or not I liked Hadley.
Hadley is the type of person who would do absolutely everything and anything in her power to protect her sisters. However, that's all you really know about her. Yeah she wants to get good grades and go to college and everything but she was kind of dull to me. Then when her and her family moved next door to some fine looking brothers.. things looked like they would get more interesting.
Then there was the drag racing bet, which led to some sort of romance blooming. I know the synopsis for this book says the older brother was Rhyland but the amazon version I read had Blaise. Either way the names were weird and stuck in my head. The "romance" between these two was predictable and cute. However, I was just bored reading this book because it was predictable and cute.
The relationships between both families was amusing to read though but it wasn't enough for me to fall in love with everything that was happening in this book. Overall, it was okay and meh. I have no idea if I will read the rest of this series.
This was all over the place. Plus that cliff hanger ending?!! I’m not sure where this is going but I feel this plot line bit off more than it could chew. I still liked Blaise and Hailey as characters but the plot… my heads left dealing and idk if I’m a good way 🤷♀️
Predictable. Not much to go on about heroine. We have no clue what she loves or what she loves to do, all me know id she takes care of her sisters. And the same goes for the hero in this story. All he does is brag and flirt and smirk. It's rather annoying.
A very YA tale of feuding neighbours. We all know where this is heading...
'Great only an hour here and I've already stirred up drama.'
I really didn't know what to expect with this book. Like it started to get interesting then stopped and got interesting again and stopped. I'm one hundred percent sure I've already solved the mystery. Now I have to read the next book to see if I have. 3/5 stars
If not for the many spelling and grammar mistakes, the continuity issues and the constant name switch I would have given a solid 4 stars, as is I'll give it 3.5* But it wasn't a bad read and I loved the characters and the interaction between them. And it seems that the plot thickens right at the end.
Chasing Hadley is completing story. I am definitely drawn in by the amazing written characters. An the mind twisting storyline. I can’t wait 4 the next book in the series
Hi can someone please tell me the next book to read because after this I read ' The Deal And The Secret' but some sites are saying to read ' holding onto hadley' or something. Is anyone else having this issue?
I was a bit disappointed because this was a retitled book in the Shadow Cove series. The description read the complete Shadow Cove series. I have been waiting for Book 3 for quite a few years.
Jessica Sorensen is an author I've been aware of for a while I could just never figure out where in her extensive backlog I wanted to begin, so when Chasing Hadley came up on my recommended KU books I thought why not. It ended up being a simple quick read for me, honestly I was at 85% before I even realised. Hadley as a character was great, she is strong and feisty with a protective streak a mile wide for her younger sisters. The only issue I have is there was quite a few glaringly obvious editing blunders with characters names being mixed up, even the GR blurb says Rhyland is the eldest and who she challenges to a race but it is in fact Blaise in the book. I've since discovered there in another version (PNR, RH) so I wonder if that is where the editing mistakes have arisen. Either way I am about to start book 2.
I don't really know how to rate this, because the freebie book for Nook and on Smashwords is apparently just a sample and not the complete story so I've only read 15 chapters. Unfortunately it's not available at my local library so keep in mind I'm only rating a partial book here. However, what I have read has been pretty far-fetched and silly. I'll give it a pass because it's a YA novel and I probably would have loved it if I were 10-15 years younger. What I can't excuse are the errors. The ages/names of the characters keep getting mixed up, as if the author changed their mind of who should be who. For example, at one point Blaise refers to Alex as his older brother, but then a few paragraphs later it says that Blaise is the oldest. When Hadley is racing Blaise, she says she's racing Ryland. With errors like that, maybe the full version should have been a freebie.
This book got me from the start. Our main heroine is Hadley and she is just a rockstar.
Hadley is the type of person who would do absolutely everything and anything in her power to protect her sisters. He dad is a real winner. When her and her family moved next door to a new family, four brother that mirror their situation.. things get more interesting.
The "romance" between Hadley and Blaise was predictable and cute. The relationships between both families is amusing to read, getting to see the lengths that these two older siblings will go to for their families is beautiful. It was heartbreaking seeing the father be that way but you see it coming throughout the whole book.
Lastly as for the ending of the book. I can see where everything is going but I will still be grabbing the next one it’s a quick read for me so 🤷🏼♀️
Read at your own risk. This review will be same for the first 3 books of series I wont be reading the 4th.
Book 1, Chasing Hadley was 4 stars, I loved the plot the characters and the flow. Was eager for book 2. Book 2, Felt rushed, had a lot of typos, had a character change names from Emelia to Amelia, had chapters told in 1st person that had parts of chapter written in third person. One sentence would be I was looking for my glasses and the next would be Joe found his glasses. Not I found my glasses. Then at the end of book there was like 50+ pages of added chapters for book 1. Why werent these before book 2 starts? Book 3. 7 chapters, 60-ish pages and the story doesnt conclude and book 4 will center around 2 diff main characters. NO THANKS>
But enjoyable. There's one kiss. One interest. And it would be YA coming of age bk unless the next bks take a drastic turn. And I don't think I want it to but we'll see. There's no harem in forward or reverse. Barely an anything with anyone so far. I did like the characters. And although I'm not a fan of racing being the 'sport' because I have no reference and can't relate and think it invites too many weird, unbelievable additions, it didn't detract from the story too much.
I thought this was a pretty entertaining read. I was curious as to how it differed from Cursed Hadley, and I’m happy I gave it a look.
While the characters are the same from Cursed Hadley, the storyline does go in a significantly different way. No paranormal happenings in this book, but still interesting enough to catch my attention.
I think the Harleyton sisters are all great characters, and I think the Porterson brother could be as well. I’m hoping that next book has more development for the brothers, as this one is heavy on Blaise.
Why did it have to end where it did? I was fully invested only to end there. All these new questions that need to be answered. Other then that I loved this book. I love a strong female character even when the world is trying to kick her down she finds a way to keep her and her sisters safe. I can’t wait for the book in this series I hope it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger.
Like all of the Jessica Sorensen books I have read, Chasing Hadley pulls you and makes you for get there is an outside world calling. Hadley and her sisters are likeable and you feel for them over their precarious situation. The Pietersen brothers are intriguing. Can't wait for the next book!
I loved this book so much , the characters are brilliant, the storylines are great and I couldn't put it down. Hadley is amazing and so strong . Her sister's are quirky and all a lil different but lovable . Now the brothers are something else entirely. Sexy ,broody and so funny at times . I loved them all .
I chose 5 stars because I thought it was a great, well-written book. Personally, I enjoy stories similar to this one. I love the main characters, and the relationship & personalities of the Harlyton sisters and Porterson brothers. I loved this book from the beginning and am looking forward to reading the second book.
The book is good, but leaves you hanging sense it's a continuation of the story in more than one book, you get interested in the story and go to the next book and find out it is only 87 pages and it cost $4.99, to me that is way to much money for no bigger of a book than that.
I read Cursed Hadley. So I could skip the beginning of the book, as the story is the same. I know the author wrote it in the summary of the book but I still read it. So I was a bit disappointed how much I could skip.
This was good start to the series Hadley is strong and sassy and Blaise is in a similar situation to Hadley it ended a bit abruptly but I’ll be reading the second book for sure
This book is fantastic. Such great characters and wit. Loved the girls and the boys! There back and forth banter is worth reading. So much happens. Exciting book. Can't wait to read more of this series.
This book was amazing. The author has built hatred for some characters within me and some characters earned sympathy. This was written well and I can wait to dive into the next in the series.
