문장 자체에 감탄할 정도의 에세이집은 아니었다.

육아에 대한 부분보다는 "딸 가진 아빠는 페미니스트가 되어야 한다"는 주장이 더 인상 깊었다. 내 주위의 딸을 둔 아빠들은 정작 자신의 아내도 누군가의 딸이었다는 것을 기억하지 못하는 것 같아 더 공감이 갔는지도 모른다.

시어머니와의 불편한 관계 - 사생활 침해라는 선이 어디에서 그어져야 하는지에 대한 고민 또한 인상적이었다. 외국 시어머니들은 상상도 할 수 없는 것들(예를 들자면 아들 집에 허락 없이 친구를 초대하는 것)을 한국의 시어머니들은 아무렇지도 않게 하는구나 싶다.
