A slow burn reverse harem romance.

This book had potential - having characters that draw you in and the author is good at creating emotion, but as I read and finished the book I felt that the story needed to be teased out a bit more.

I've been eyeing this book for a while now. I've actually been waiting for the sequel to come out, hoping to read the two books together, but well... I guess I got tired of waiting. I ended up really loving the story.

Parker was switched to a different foster home again and she did not expect anything good or special out of the new arrangement. She figured that she only had to keep her head down and her mouth shut for about three months, and then she would be finally free of it all. At least, that was the plan. She did not count on this family being genuinely nice and on them not wanting to let Parker go.

This was one of those books that I just genuinely did not want to end. Like, I don't care if nothing really happens here and all we're told about is the characters' day to day lives - I'd still read it, gladly. The writing was that good.
But things actually did happen here, so that made it all even better.
And the character were amazing. I don't know why I assumed that the guys had an easier lives than Parked did, but I was dead wrong. When they started, one by one, revealing their pasts to us, I was not only surprised, in some cases it shook me.
It turned out that, surprisingly, Parker's story wasn't the worst out of everyone's (not that it's a contest or anything, but that's the way things usually are in these stories).
I loved how tightly knit the family was and how they were all there for each other, no matter what. I king of missed the part where (or how) Lochlan warmed up to Parker though, and that's a shame. But other than that, everything else went rather smoothly.
I also knew that, toward the end, things would have to escalate in some way(because they always do), but I couldn't figure out what would be the reason behind it. It couldn't be a fight out of misunderstanding, because the characters were too smart for that, plus the family was so close, that it just had to be caused by an outside source. And the more the story progressed and the more we learned about the characters, I started to get little hints and ideas as to what those outside factors might be. It all did, however, resolved way too quickly for my liking. Don't get me wrong, I did not want anyone to suffer unnecessarily. But I did not even get the chance to wrap my head around everything that was happening, when it was all suddenly over. Just like that.
Though we did get to meet Maverick and his team, who, I'm guessing, will get their own story sooner or later.

But, seriously, when will we get the next book to this story? It's been a while now.

I really liked this book, this was a slow burn for sure and thats what I liked about it. They took their time learning about each other and didnt just jump into anything and I appreciated that. I loved how close this family was and had each others backs. Will definetly read more by this author and I cant wait to read Maverick and his teams book.

So I read the book. And it was cute. Like, sugary sweet cute. They dealt with some mature situations and they dealt with them in a cute way. This is the perfect RH for people that do not like any sort of burn. Slow would be an understatement for this book. But it was a cute book. If you're not into the smut side of rh, then I would recommend this book. I do admit to crying in the very beginning.

Fostering Hope begins when Parker is being moved to a different foster home after her last one turned out to be bad. However, these new people aren't at all what they seem, and she isn't sure what to do. Then to top it all off she is finally making friends, and something more as well. But it may not be what it seems.

This book was okay. It wasn't great, but not bad either. I enjoyed the beginning, but then I felt like the rest of the story sort of fell flat, and didn't have much to it, then a quick ending after that.
So, I liked it, but I was expecting more.

Very nice RH contemporary

I imagine witing a RH that is set in the real world and has no paranormal influences is an EXTREMELY difficult thing to do but I think Perry did a fantastic job! I didn't laugh at this one like I did with her Furries, fangers and fruit flies series and I didn't cry at it like I did her hidden embers books but I was sucked into the world of Parker and her boys and stayed up late to finish this book in only a few hours!

I liked the idea of this book, but there was very little development (of the characters as well as their relationships) and the suspense at the end was unnecessary and came out of nowhere.

Parker has been in many foster homes and she’s being placed in another one. She’s wary, but she’s only hoping to stay there until her birthday, when she’ll finally be free of the system. She finds that this family is different , but that they’re good people.

The description of Parker, her reactions and situation made sense and I liked them, but they weren’t shown and instead it felt like her behaviours were contradictory to her reactions. Parker is wary since she’s been to bad homes before so she says that she’s going to try to be invisible until she can leave, but that’s not really what happens. For example, she originally wanted to sneak downstairs to get some food that she hoped no one will notice going missing, but she encounters some of the brothers who make themselves as well as her food. She tells them that she doesn’t think it’s a good idea because the food is for the real family, but she quickly sits down with them and she even agrees with one of the brothers to leave a sign on the leftovers so that she can eat them later. She’s supposedly wary of her foster parents, but she gets comfortable with them very quickly and interacts with them easily. Once again, she’s supposedly not sure about her foster brothers, but in one of the first interactions with Austyn, they’re instantly best friends.

The guys (Lochlan, Dominic, Declan, Duncan, Talen) were fine, but they weren’t fully developed (their personalities felt like they changed sometimes) and their relationships with Parker happened very quickly (although, there was no spice).

The only other characters were the foster parents and two other foster brothers. I wanted to see a settling in period were Parker slowly got to know everyone and where she was living, but instead she just fit with everyone.

The ending came out of nowhere and I didn’t care for it.

This could have been good, but there was nowhere near enough development to flesh the idea out and the events at the end felt like they were just added onto the end for no reason. The lack of development doesn’t make me want to try the sequel.

I first read this story in the Falling for Them Vol 2 Anthology.

This story is RH with a HEA. Fostering Hope stands up among the other RH stories with a heroine that goes from a really bad fostering situation into a very positive family environment with caring parents and a bonus of plenty of handsome foster brothers. I'm a fan of this slow burn as Parker comes to them at seventeen and some of the guys are a bit older.

I enjoyed the changes in Parker from wary neglected and abused girl to fun loving young woman fitting in to her new family. Her struggles with private time with each of the five guys brought some realism to the story. There are a lot of guys with similar names to keep track of. Their characters are different though quite familiar, I would have enjoyed more physical descriptions to keep them straight in my minds eye.

The secondary storyline worked well to bring the drama and move the guys into being heroes with a threat of danger throwing them all into action and solidifying any lingering doubts they may have had about their situation.

I enjoyed this story and look forward to the next book on this series.

Alright, so. It was a good reverse-harem story, even if they’re no sexy times.
I liked that the story is about a orphan with a hard life that gets fostered by a good, warm family. I liked the characters, they’re different so you can have your little favorite (muscled Lochlan for me hehe ). They are nice and comprehensive of the H and her struggles. I liked that they have a different lifestyle than most people so they prone acceptance.

What I didn’t like: the lack of smut mostly ^^ but also the fact that half of them are former foster kids but they don’t understand at first what she talks about (like when she explains that she’s not their “real kid”, that she shouldn’t eat with them or things like that when she arrives at the house).

It’s a safe read, no cheating. The guys have past relationships but who cares we see or talk about no one in particular. (Virgin H however.)
HEA: yes but it feels unfinished.
Plot: alright. They’re some action but it’s not the main objective of the book, it’s more about the slow pace romance.

Do I recommend this book? Yes for a cute romantic me-moment

I finished this with a lot of skimming to the end and I don't feel I can give it a higher star rating because there were some big issues here. First, the writing. There was way too much telling rather than showing, and this book also suffered from characters that had to constantly explain the obvious or repeat things already stated/inferred. This bogged down the story and made it difficult to stay engaged. Secondly, character development. It was lacking for pretty much all the characters. They were fairly indistinguishable and, aside from starting a RH relationship, there wasn't much else to them. I also thought the "suspense" plot seemed a bit of an odd choice to include in what was, otherwise, a straight up contemporary. Overall, yeah, I read to the end, but this book could have used a significant developmental edit.

Representation: Gay supporting character

[1st Re-read: 24 April 2021]

Overall: 3-stars

There’s quite a lot of ‘not like other girls’ rhetoric thrown around. Also, I would’ve preferred the Heroine to be older — maybe in her early 20s since, despite her hard childhood, she was quite sheltered and naive.

It’s a really cute and sweet reverse harem contemporary romance, though.

Safety Rating: Safe

Possible Triggers: Yes

Ending:

Squeal!!! I loved this story when I first read it in the falling for them anthology and was overjoyed when I found out it was being released separately

Parker has not had a good life and when she is sent to yet another foster home she expects it to be just the same as all the others, however reality is far from anything she could imagine, and she slowly learns to trust and feel safe

With plenty of romantic moments, places where I howled with laughter and serious moments which gave me the feels, mixed in with the action excitement and drama, this is a very well written story which I absolutely love, I would go as far as to say this book is in my favourite top ten. I am seriously hoping the author writes a book two to see how the story continues, I absolutely loved it

New adult clean reverse harem

After shuffling from one bad foster home to another, Parker is finally taken in by a good family. They have seven sons. Five of them are older than Parker.

This was a clean reverse harem romance, which I’ve never run into before. There is kissing but just that, no more. I really liked it. It was sweet and a fast read. There was no insta-love. Feelings built slowly. It had some good humor in it, especially with the character of Austyn.

1st person present tense from Parker and the guys.
I found 24 errors. A lot of them were weird like the first letter at the start of a sentence not being capitalized. Word should fix that on its own.
There is some foul language in this.

I first read this story in the Falling for Them Anthology. I thought the story was sweet and it was nice to read a contemporary story that didn't just have the RH factor but also showed a healthy non traditional relationship. The MC had a rough upbringing and it shows in her interactions with the family she is placed with. Her wariness to overstep or do anything that might get her put back in a place like she was in before. It was nice to see her evolve a bit from that when the family and guys showed her what it was like to be in a more healthy lifestyle. I liked learning about the different guys and their backgrounds and how they became part of the family as well. Worth checking out!

I enjoyed this story, it's sweet with a real message of hope. And the Reverse Harem component is shown to be quite a normal and accepted part because the family she's been fostered into is a different kind of family, and it seems that they are part of a wider community that is very accepting. And i like that. So Parker being attracted to the brothers is pretty acceptable too. Some of the book drags along a little but you get hints that there's something else going on that they're not telling Parker. But maybe they should because something from Parker's past may risk their future. Looking forward to more from this series!

I absolutely loved this book. The MC Parker has been bouncing around to different foster homes and at 17 is placed with the Harper-Smith family. Parker is not used to being cared for she is however used to abuse and neglect from her previous foster parents. After being placed with the new family (who has a different family dynamic than normal) Parker finally starts to see how a loving family is supposed to be with each other and finally starts to let others in and trust them. After Parker’s past comes back to haunt her and her life depends on her new family. I loved this story and all of the guys and how they treated her (Even though Lochlan was an ass at first).

New to Amanda Perry

I'll admit that sometimes I pick a book by its cover, and will read a sample based on summary and stars. After reading sample, I immediately purchased the book. The first introduction of Parker was believable, and the characters that followed with their back stories were too. I did laugh, cry and cheer for the story. I gave 5 stars because the story was so good, but I wish that I could've 4 1/2 stars. As the other readers have stated, the names were way to confusing! Please don't do that again!, lol. I hope there is a sequel to this wonderful story. I will definitely be looking for other books by Amanda Perry :)

I have had my eye on this for a while and finally bought it. Sadly I don't think it's worth the $5, but it wasn't all that bad just a little pricey for the size and for some of the writing style. As someone else mentioned there's a lot more telling than showing, it also felt sort of rushed to me. There were some errors but not many, it was just the story itself that itched me wrong. Not wrong as in triggered or offended but just the way many of the scenes were portrayed. I don't regret buying it though, it was a nice little read and all authors deserve to earn money for their hard work, but I just don't think it was worth the price.

I LOVED this story. I am curious to know if the story will continue on with Parker, or if they will switch over to the Maverick team. I hope both happen! Parker is a great lead character! I thought her personality was very believable and even though I have never been through anything like her it was still easy to relate to her character. I Loved the family structure and all the boys stories/ personalities. The writing style drew me in and had me captivated the entire time. I cannot wait to see what happens next with this author because I was so drawn into the characters from just +one book!

A very modern day tale! Fostering Hope really hits all the feels as we follow Parker on her journey into the light. I love the characters and the dynamic in this story as Parker begins to foster hope for her future. Despite the ages involved, I loves how Amanda removed the added drama that school would include and she very simply removed that whole can of worms and do used on the growing relationships and her past catching up with her. Great story! I am looking forward to Maverick's pending trials. LOL! I hope we will see more of this cast in the next volume.

Enter a world where if you're monogamous and straight, you're weird and have a problem... Oh wait. We already live in that world.
Well, a point for writing style and a character development anyway.
But really, is there some new law that states that every YA book must include a gay guy or some other member of the LGBT+ community or it's unfit for publication? Hello, the shock value on that one went out around 2005. This has a charming main character, but everything else is about as cliché and overdone as possible.

I had a hard time rating this... I just didn't know how I felt about it. I've read lots of books like this, but there were lots of super cute moments in it, that made me like it more. I loved all the guys, but I was still having such a hard time distinguishing between the guys even near the END of the book. I couldn't remember who was who besides Austyn (obviously), Lochlan (big scary teddy bear), and sometimes Talen (Was that his name?). I kind of figured that the ending was going to happen, it wasn't that surprising, but I am glad they all ended up together :))

A problem I see with a lot o RH books is the inability to make the male main characters have enough personality so we can differentiate them, so what they do? Make them paperboard, they have only one trait that needs to be enough to make us like them and also be able to separate one from the next (one is the grumpy, one is the flirt, one has the golden retriever personality, etc).
All characters sounded like teenagers, even the parents.
"Pick me" energy from the FMC.
Overall, the book was enough to make me finish it but not enough to make me enjoy the read.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The author put great thought into her characters and the storyline. Parker and her new environment comes with plenty of new circumstances and feelings. the interactions between the characters makes you fall in love with the characters. I do wish the ending a had a bit more closure but I think that is just a testament to how much I enjoyed this book. It's so good you'll want more.

I first read Fostering Hope as part of the Falling For Them anthology and it was one of my favorites of the anthology. There were many moments that reminded me of the tv show The Fosters, but I found myself quickly sucked in and emotionally invested. The 'bad guy' dialogue was a bit awkward, but the story was compelling and had a couple twists I didn't see coming. I'll gladly read more from Amanda Perry.
