On one ordinary day in Philadelphia, Mila and Kaleb meet on a train ride to school. One day turns into more, and their friendship evolves to first love.
When they realize not everyone is OK with this budding relationship, their love is shadowed, and their bond is threatened. Unaware of the impossible predicaments they each face in their lives, too many secrets threaten to tear their young lives apart.
With their hearts on the line and their worlds changing too quickly for them to catch up, Mila and Kaleb must decide who and what is most important. And they learn they'll need more than just love to survive.
On The Line is a young adult novel with mature themes. It is recommended for readers 16 and up.
Keyanna Butler did a good job with this story it is a sweet book. The story held my attention from beginning to end, it made me sad at times and fall in love at others; all the feels.
Kaleb Davenport and Mila Easton had a lot of twists and turns in their relationship. I did find it a little confusing at times, with all the different situations which happened throughout the story, there were just a few too many for me. Kaleb and Mila had a very strong love and a total attraction for each other, I found this so endearing.
The pair took things slow, got to know each other before they following their hearts, which was a nice turn to the story. The way they dealt with things was so refreshing to see, read about, it was funny and sweet in equal measures. Not all the characters are nice though and Kaleb's father definitely annoyed me with the way he treated Mila.
If you are looking for a sweet, funny story, then you will find this one a refreshing to read of just pure love.
On The Line is a Young Adult romance book. It was a quick read and a standalone. For me, this book should've been read in less than 3 hours but it dragged in the beginning, like I really didn't want to finish it. However at the halfway point, it got better. I would recommend this book for anyone that is is 16 to 25 years old. It does have some mature context in it.
The plot was what got better as the story continued. I was really bored at the beginning. How two people of different races can have a relationship and not worry about what other people think. How in life stuff happens and you should let the person you care about know.
Mila was student taking a train to school. She has a mom that cares about her and doesn't want her to get hurt. On the train one day , That is where she meets Kaleb. Kaleb , that boy, I felt bad for him for what his Dad did. Mila and Kaleb had a nice bond together. Mila and Kaleb are the two main characters however the supporting characters are who I liked the best in this story. To me Mila and Kaleb were blah and the supporting characters , their friends where what made this story get 3 stars.
The writing style was just ok. I wish it grasped me from the beginning. I did see some minor errors, but it didn't take away from the story.
Some quotes I liked: "He totally Notebooked you."
"I'm your girl, your ace, your other half, the sisterhood to your traveling pants."
Overall On the line was an ok story for me. If you are older than 25 you might not like this story, again just my opinion as I feel it is for the younger folks. If you like quick reads, and like young adult genre that has mature context in it then I would say you might enjoy this book.
This one is a super quick read. Mila and Kaleb are great character and they pulled me into there story. They meet on a train ride on the way to different schools. They have this cute friendship that builds into more. I felt the characters portrayed the age they were nicely. There are twisted are stuff and real world stuff that pop up to try to cause problems in their relationship. I loved these two and the issues they face but I really wished the story was longer and a little more in depth on some of the issues they faced. Overall this was a good read.
Mila and Kaleb are two kids who fall in love despite the odds against them. Both have complicated histories that could threaten their future but Keyanna Butler sweetly navigates their coming of age tale of overcoming obstacles. The injected bits of her signature humor gave me many light hearted moments that well-balanced the more serious issues. And of course the ending left me with a smile.
Good quick read for the young adult who likes unexpected twists. I would recommend this for late teens to mid twenty somethings. Slow burn that picks up in the middle and ends well.
