You know what's frustrating about the love of my life? He thinks he's in love with someone else...and has been dating her for five years! I know, right?
Then they suddenly break up. And he and I are on the same business trip. My chance to convince him we're meant to be!
Except when I go to his suite in my sexiest lingerie and with my sexiest toys, David's gone. Instead, there's some guy who thinks I'm the evening's professional entertainment.
As if!
Walking out of the room should've been the end of it...
...until that man, Luke, shows up again, ostensibly to return something I left behind. (A sex toy...a very very dirty one...)
...and refuses to go away because we apparently have "chemistry." And okay, he's admittedly hot, but there's more to a relationship than chemistry, right...?
Bilingual former management consultant Nadia Lee has lived in four different countries and enjoyed many adventures and excellent food around the globe. In the last eight years, she has kissed stingrays, got bitten by a shark, and petted tigers.
She shares an apartment overlooking a river and palm trees in Japan with her husband, winter white hamsters and an ever-widening pile of books. When she's not writing, she can be found digging through old Asian historical texts or planning another trip.
Well... I love when authors develop books about secondary characters and make them into a series, it's always good to come back to the first couple and see more about the rest of them. But, sadly, this one was not as good as the first and I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I did the first one.
Since reading the first book, this obsession Sammi had for David always bothered me and I kept wishing for something to change and for her to meet 'the one' in her life and this book is just it, it makes Sammi move out of her obsession with David and see that they were never really meant to be. And, after Luke arrived, her whole idea of 'love' and 'the one' changed.
This was a quick, fun and sweet read. I enjoy reading about these girls, and I love how, in the end, the author did Luke's POV, it was sweet and cute. I'll read the next one because I'm curious about Michelle and I do enjoy Nadia's writing.
That Sexy Stranger by Nadia Lee is book Two in the "Sweet Darlings Inc." series. This is the story of Luke and Sami. I have read the previous book but feel this is easily a standalone book. Sami has been hot for her boss David for about 5 years. But he has been in a relationship but that has now ended. So Sami knows that this is her time to make her move on him and to move past the social media stalking. Working to get into his hotel room and dressing in sexy clothes she knows this is her chance....until it isn't. Who walks in but a stranger who is named Luke, and reports that he is David's friend. Luke says that David didn't like the room and they switched. Sami and Luke butt heads and she gets up with her box of 'toys' and leaves. But that isn't the last of Luke who set in motion for them to meet again. Loved this story!
That Sexy Stranger by Nadia Lee is amazing! Once I started, I didn't want to put it down. Lee drew me in from the beginning and held my intrest until the end.
Sammi has wanted David for the past 4 years. David is single now so now is her chance. But what happens when all her "stalking" doesn't pay off, a sexy stranger ends up where David was suppose to be? Will Sammi get her chance with David or does ThAssIMWa throw a wrench in her way? You'll just have to read for yourself to find out!
I just love this series. The laughs and embarrassing situations are plentiful in this must read RomCom. The author has written a funny, exciting and wild storyline that will have you laughing and smiling through the book. And The three roommates, that make up the series, are a riot that you just don’t want to miss out on. That Sexy Stranger is Sammi’s story, but don’t fret, both Michelle and Jan (and of course Matt from Book 1 “That Man Next Door”) are present too.
Sammi has been carrying a torch for David for 4 years but he’s been in a steady relationship the entire time and she is not a poacher. But now that he’s on the market again, Sammi sets out to surprise him in his hotel suite during a business trip and let him know how she feels. But what she doesn’t count on, is another man arriving instead of David and seeing her on the bed and her attempt at seduction. To make matters worse, in her haste to leave, she forgets one of her new sex toys. Needless to say, Sammi is mortified! Let the fun be! Especially when Luke, the guy from the hotel room, shows up at her work to return her “Toy”, in the lunchroom, on the track where she runs, well you get the picture.
This is a very well written book with characters that will worm their way straight into your heart. 2 Thumbs Up for a hilarious book/series that I highly recommend, you won’t regret it!
That Sexy Stranger is the second standalone book in the Sweet Darlings, Inc series. Stranger is a romantic comedy about when fate steps in to help out where we making mistakes. Sammi is on a business trip with David, her supposed "one" (he just doesn't know it), when she decides to surprise him in his hotel room with sexy lingerie and toys. Imagine her surprise when instead of David in walks Luke instead. Sammi's humiliation is complete when Luke arranges for her to sit next to him on the plane home AND he is employed at Sweet Darlings.
What happens next is the story of a persistent guy who knows how to pour on the charm and a woman who decides to take a chance, kind of. Sammi is the friend you have that while day to day she is a smart, dedicated career woman but when it comes to her lovelife, her head is in the clouds. Luke is the quiet yet determined man that reveals more about himself by his actions than what he says.
Told from Sammi's POV the story has a decent pace and while Sammi's over the top swooning over a guy who is polite but clearly interested elsewhere is a little overplayed, the interactions between Luke and her are sweet and sexy. A perfect read when you are in the mood for a romance with a bit of humor and a touch of heat.

Nadia Lee won me over as a fan with the first book in the Sweet Darlings series, That Man Next Door. So, I couldn't wait to dive into That Sexy Stranger, the follow-up in the series. Even though this is the second book, it can totally be read as a stand-a-lone. I did enjoy reuniting with some of the characters from the first book though.
Nadia Lee's characters are fun and witty--they're just everyday characters that you'd want to be friends with. Sammie made me laugh out loud on more than a few occasions. Eager to put the moves on a co-worker she's had the hots for for quite some time, she's willing to do whatever it takes to get him. Until a friend of his just happens to get in the way.
Luke was such a great guy and tried his best to have a chance with Sammie. I instantly liked him and found myself really pulling for him. Seems though, Sammi's not ready to forget about David, who just happens to "like the color black."
The story was very engaging and kept my full attention all the way to the end. I laughed, gosh did I laugh, and found That Sexy Stranger to be a very enjoyable read. Nadia's writing is clever and she knows how to make a story delightful for the reader.
I voluntarily reviewed this Advance Reader Copy. Loved is too tame a word for how I feel about this book. I had a hard time putting it down, but it was a work day. Sami is a spunky, determined young woman who believes that if she sets a goal, she will achieve it. She is a female in the male dominated field of coding and she’s brilliant at it. Her current goal is to get together with the perfect man, her boss, David. She’s waited four years for them both to be single so that she could pursue him and now she’s going all out. When they’re both sent to the Bay Area office on business, she methodically plans to surprise him in his hotel suite: sexy lingerie in his favorite color, fishnets, box of toys, finagling his room key from the front desk—she’s got it all arranged. Only when the door opens, it’s not David but his friend Luke who enters. What happens when you plan for the perfect man but the man you get upsets all those best laid plans?
That Sexy Stranger is the second standalone book in the Sweet Darlings, Inc series. I totally love this series for this is RomCom at its finest. Sammi has wanted David for the past 4 years. David is single now so now is her chance. She decides to surprise him in his hotel room with sexy lingerie and toys. But imagine her surprise when it’s not David that walks into the room but Luke instead. Sammi's humiliation is complete when Luke arranges for her to sit next to him on the plane home AND he is employed at Sweet Darlings. Will Sammi get her chance with David or does ThAssIMWa throw a huge monkey wrench in her plans? This is a story that you have to read to find out what happens and I completely, totally enjoyed every moment. A perfect contemporary romance read when you are in the mood for a romance with a bit of witty humor and a touch of steamy heat.
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."

This was a very funny book. Sammi is the crazy one and Luke is the confident one. Sammi is the outspoken friend from That Man Next Door. She has had a crush on her best friend’s cousin but he was always in a relationship. When he breaks up with his longtime girlfriend, Sammi decides to take a shot while they’re on a business trip in California. Her sexy plans ends up going hilariously awry when David, her crush, changes rooms with Luke. They meet when he goes to his room to find her dressed in sexy lingerie, surrounded by sex toys. You can’t help but laugh at Sammi and her predicament. Luke is Mr. Mysterious who is sexy and knows what he wants and that is Sammi. These two challenge each other while bringing out the best in each other. The book was sexy and funny. Nadia Lee writes fun books and I can’t wait to read about Michelle’s story. This is a great book and a great series.
3.75 stars. Now this was a cute book. In reading the 2nd book I appreciate how well the author did in writing very distinct characters. The two roommates Jan and Sammi are very, very different and the author did a great job of maintaining character integrity in this series. At no point did I ever look at the book and wonder who was speaking, the voices and thought patterns very distinct. Sammi has had 4 years to pine for David, and as they both break off their relationships at the same time Sammi decides to make a bold move. Dressed in sexy lingerie she sneaks into his hotel room to await a night of debauchery. But a handsome stranger enters instead and a room switch throws the plan out the window. Escaping with barely her pride intact Sammi vows to not look back and move to a new plan to get her man. If only the stranger, Luke, would quit getting in her way (and mind and dreams).
She’s a programmer and he’s a novelist. Cute how they meet - she’s trying to seduce his friend who is her boss and who’s she’s been mooning over for 4 years. Way too long to wait for some guy who doesn’t even notice you. She dates and has boyfriends during those 4 years… ok ?!? But Luke gets one look at Sammi and he’s done for.
He pursues her like nothing else and she puts him off just as much. But then he kisses her and she’s going to give that chemistry a chance. And… she realizes her 4 year crush… well there is no spark.. unlike with Luke. He woos her - flowers and chocolates and Japanese wine… so sweet 🥹
3rd act breakup explanation is crazy - she thinks he’s been lying and has a wife and kid… but man it turns out the boy is his brother and the woman is one his jerky father had an affair with
I got a bit annoyed with the workplace… the description of what they could wear to work.. ehhh

When David breaks up with his long-term girlfriend, it’s the moment Sammie has been waiting for. Sammie decides to surprise David on a business trip by waiting in his hotel room in just lingerie – only its, not David that turns up, its a random guy who thinks Sammie is that evening’s entertainment. Cue Sammie fleeing the scene and hoping like hell to not run into Luke again, except Luke has other ideas.
I really enjoyed That Man Next Door so I was really excited to read this book I was not disappointed. I thought the story was really good. I found myself laughing a lot throughout, there were so many funny moments, particularly the parts involving sex toys in the workplace!
I liked both Sammie and Luke. I thought Sammie was relatable in that like so many of us sometimes do, she has been going after something that she thought she wanted but when she was really honest with herself she realized that she wanted something entirely different. Luke was really lovely I just wish this book had been duel POV’s because I would really have liked to read things from his perspective and see what was going on is his mind.
Sammi had had her eyes and her heart on David for four years and now that he has broken up with his girlfriend it is the perfect opportunity to show him how she feels. While on a business trip she decides to surprise him in his room complete with lingerie and sexy toys however the surprise is on her when another co-worker Luke is there instead.
Hoping to put her mortification behind her she just wants to go home to wallow in her misery when who has arranged to sit next to her on the flight home but Luke. For two people that seldom saw each other now he seems to constantly be in her orbit but will she finally open her eyes to what she can have or does David still rule her heart?
The author has created characters you can relate to and the banter is humorous. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
I don’t connect with the writing style. Whenever a book has “romantic comedy” in its title I know it’s going to be a doozy. This book isn’t funny to me, not even a little charming. I was hoping the male protag would be interesting enough to balance out the fem protag’s quirkiness (she is very, very quirky) but this seems to be mostly the fem protag show where her mental antics take center stage, while the male protag is like a mime, seen and not heard.
Because I don’t find the fem protag charming, her obsession with her boss is not cute or adorable. It’s borderline creepy. Some of the things she thinks/says I imagine actual stalkers might think/say too. That kind of humor (?) is a little too on the nose for me.
I can’t read a chapter without wanting to skip large chunks of it hoping to find some morsel of intrigue among the strangeness, but nope, it is not meant to be.
When I started That Sexy Stranger I didn't think I was going to like it which surprised me because I really like all of her books. I liked the main female characters in the first book in the series and the last book in the series, but it took a few chapters before I liked Sammi. She's bold, outspoken, and she goes after what she wants, but her rules of life are what makes her great to read.
Luke is the perfect example of a great book boyfriend and they are great together.
Somehow I read these books out of order and since they are stand-alone books in a series, it's not a problem. The reader loses nothing in understanding the characters.
I enjoyed this book and this series, just as I have enjoyed the Pryce and Reed families series. Enjoyable, light reading for a lazy weekend or evening.
This was exactly what I wanted! It is refreshing, and funny, and hot! Sammi is the type of girl I wish I was more like in real life. She is so self determined and confident. I especially loved her snarky-ness. Her only flaw is being focused on the wrong man. But that is what makes this book so wonderful.
Enter Luke, the hotness on a stick. Talk about a great Alpha man. He takes Sammi's confidence and her kooky mind as being such a turn on, you can't help but fall in love with him too.
This is exactly what I love most about Nadia's books. They give me exactly what I'm looking for. This book is funny and her characters are completely unique and refreshing. I can't wait to read more Nadia! (review by Teresa "Jane")
Second book in the Sweet Darlings series. This book has the laughs the sexy and the unexpected love.
Sam I has it BAD for David... like really bad! She’s waited for him to break up with his long time girlfriend to take her place in his life. She has it all planned out. There’s a out of town work related meeting. There’s some kinky toys involved and sexy lingerie. There is a room break in.
All goes to plan until the door opens and it’s not David... it’s Luke! Wth??
She’s embarrassed when he thinks she’s been hires as a prostitute. She runs away.
Should end there but it doesn’t. That’s where thinks get funny! When love comes unexpectedly and sparks fly.
After reading That Man Next Door, I was immediately a Nadia Lee fan! And with her followup, That Sexy Stranger, I'm HOOKED!!
Sami has been in love with her coworker David for years! And he's broken up with his girlfriend so now is the perfect time for her to make her move. So she dons sexy lingerie and heads to his hotel room... except David is not who opens the door. Instead a hot stranger walks in and he's more than willing to take David's place...
Sami is utterly embarrassed and hightails it out of there. Except That Sexy Stranger Luke just won't leave her alone and doesn't accept that Sami wants David.
A hot coworker romance that makes you LOVE how confident and even cocky Luke is.
When things don't work out the way we plan them to, it takes awhile, sometimes, before we accept the new order of things.
When Sammi meets Luke, she's at first in denial - refusing to believe that her plan to make her boss fall madly in love with her has failed. Sammi is convinced that Luke's the wrong guy, but Luke is persistent; going after her with just the right amount of determination until she realises that the "wrong guy" entered the right room, after all.
This advance copy of the second installment in the Sweet Darlings Inc. was a good read. It's less angst-y than book 1, but just as fun and full of awkward, embarrassing moments and sweet ones, too.
4.5 Stars This book was hilarious with all the feels. I did feel second hand embarrassment for Sammi a few times. The moment Luke and Sammi met is one that's quite memorable. It also leaves a lasting impression on Luke. Sammi has her life planned out and finally has perfect moment to grab the man of her dreams. One problem what is the man she thinks she wants isn't the one she needs? I can't tell how much my nerd heart rejoiced with the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter references in the book. Two of my favorites.
Received an arc in exchange for an honest review An absolute delight from the get go Rom-com totally to keep you awake until you finish the book There is proverb which goes like that you dont get what you want ,you get what you need This lovely light hearted romance proves every word right!! Sammi wants David, but destiny throws Luke in her path What follows is an unexpected journey of friendship, realisation that one is enough when u find the right person n ultimately love Loved the book through and through
3.5 stars. Enjoyable sweet romance with mild drama, humor and steamy chemistry. Really cute first meet for the H/h. Likable quirky heroine with a plan. Sammi was funny with laugh out loud moments but there was a little too much internal dialogue for me. I didn’t read the first story in the series but I think I would’ve understood Sammi better if I had. Really liked Luke and his confidence. Yummy! The drama was fairly easy to figure out and was quickly resolved. Overall a good easy read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
.... than a great stand alone? A stand alone that connects to a bigger universe(even if it's a small one)! I really enjoyed Jan and Matt's story, but Sammi and Luke's story spoke to me. I love how honest and witty Sammi is. For how organized and planned she was for everything she wanted for her self, and then this sexy stranger came and showed her how you can't always expect your life to go the way you'd planned. 'That Sexy Stranger'is fun and no surprise here, Sexy. I look forward to reading Michelle's story next, I know I wont be disappointed.
It's been a while since I reviewed a book, but this is, and this series, is too good not to review it. I've been literally sitting here, next to my husband, earning crazy looks from him because I've been laughing so hard. Both the fist boom and this one have had me in tears of laughter. I love the main characters and their dialogue. The female characters are all funny and strong women who are there for each other. The male leads have been supportive, loving, and wonderful.
I'm looking forward to the next book, Michelle's story.
I am a huge fantasy/scifi reader with a yearly dose of historical romance. A blurb from the first book in this series, That Man Next Door, caught my eye on FB so I downloaded it and enjoyed it enough. So I decided to go for this one and got an I glad I did! I am pleasantly surprised how much I liked this book! Great characters and the world/ backstory have been building since book 1. I appreciate this adventure Nadia and am heading to get the third installment in this series right now.
Sammi has wanted David for 4 long years. On a business trip away she finally thinks she has her chance after he has just split from his girlfriend. Dressed to impress she gets access to his room and waits .. only it’s not David who enter last but Luke, someone she has never met! Mortified she leaves but doesn’t realise she has left something behind!
Luke doesn’t give up easily but what will she do when she realises that sometimes what you want and plan for are the opposite of what you need!
