THIS IS NOT A STANDALONE BOOK. BROKEN CHORD IS THE THIRD AND FINAL INSTALLMENT IN THE TWELVE MONTHS SERIES. Nearly twelve months has passed since Sylvie Embers’ heart went MIA. She knows exactly where it is, but she can’t go back there, not to him. But fate is a twisted bitch and has other plans... She finds herself right back in the center of Jamison Rivera’s life when her best friend - Lucy Dalton, announces she’s marrying his best friend and bandmate - Ben Travers. Honoring her closest friends wishes, she blindly steps into her own personal version of hell on earth to confront the devil himself. Everything’s changed. Old feelings certainly haven’t. He wont give her up. She needs him to. What happens when what they had, won’t let go? “In what lifetime did you think I could have come back to you? I was destitute in every sense of the word after you. I’ve made my life work now because I’ve had to. But as far as dating and love go, I’m not interested... because of us. Because I had no faith in you not to do the same thing to me again and again and again. There would have always been another Samara waiting to fuck it up for us, and you would never have been strong enough to weather the storm with me. The most miserable part of all this, is the fact that after everything, I still love you… I always will. I just can’t be in love with you. I can’t even contemplate giving someone else what I gave you. You own my fucking everything, Jamison, but you annihilated it, too.” I was terrified keeping her would completely deplete that wonderful woman. So, I pushed her away... and every fiber of my being had mourned for her ever since. I can’t fucking see beyond her. Here with me, that’s where she’s meant to be. In my house, my bed. Every. Damn. Night. Any other man having that with her is just not going to happen. No matter who I’ve got to piss off in the process, she’s going to be Mrs. Rivera one day, whether she likes it or not. This is the third installment of the Twelve Months series. This is not a standalone. It is recommended that you read Twelve Months (book 1) and Reprieve (book 2) before Broken Chord. Due to graphic language, drug use, and scenes of a sexual nature, this book is recommended for an 18+ audience.
For as long as I can remember, I've had a fascination with the written word; how they sound, the definition of each one, the reaction certain words have on others. Some people sing, some dance, some paint; for me, words are my creative outlet. I live in Wales, I devour books... especially romance novels (I'm a romance novel junkie and proud!) I love music and going to concerts. I adore the process of writing and creating new characters. It's an odd thing playing God with fictitious people, but I love it. I'm a mother, daughter, fiancée, sister, damsel, and strawberry laces enthusiast. I own two cats, Doug and Dolly. Doug is my biggest fan; he sits and purrs when I read him extracts from my book. I have a love/hate relationship with a chicken named Shawshank... but that's a story for another time. I really do hope you enjoy the Twelve Month series. Please get in touch, I like hearing from humans. Oh, and please leave a review if it's not too much trouble.

As a reader when I start a series of books, I usually don't want to give a review on each one. To me it's the whole series I review. Twelve Months in total was a great read. It had everything that you want in a "rock n roll" series. In book one we are introduced to our cast of characters. Each one with their own distinct personality. The flamboyant lead singer, the crazy drummer, the mellow bass player and of course our brooding lead guitarist. The story itself evolves around Sylvie our quiet and innocent journalist who is contracted to write a book about Twisted Temper. All are on board with the idea except Jamison. He sees her as the enemy. To say they start off with much contention is an understatement. As their relationship grows. many and I do mean many trials come their way. So much so that it is too much for them to handle. This is where we delve into the second book. Sylvie trying to make it work and hold on and Jamison with one bad decision after another. We end this book with"This was the day that my heart stood still." Now to the last, Sylvie tries to move on. She is back in her home town and doing the best she can. This is where we meet Alex, a friend in time of need and an enigma to this reader. He is a friend and they become close as a brother and sister. When Lucy, Sylives' best friend becomes engaged to Ben the bass player, she is back in L.A. where the boys are. She is faced with seeing Jamison again and while as much as she doesn't her heart has other plans. A few thoughts about the story, yes I liked it. It had a well thought out plot and a great combination of characters. Each one adding to the story. One thing I didn't like was there were a few places that the story was very detailed and at times ran together, but all in all it was what a rock and roll story should be about.
5+++ Stars There are no words to describe this book or this series which would do justice to one of the best rock romances I have read and believe me I have read many of them since it’s my go to genre. Only an extremely talented author can bring their characters to life in such a way that you are feeling like a voyeur into all of their lives; you are laughing when they laugh, crying when they cry and making you feel a part of their lives to the point of feeling like I was actually backstage with them or in their private lives.
The wrap up in Sylvie and Jamison’s story was done leaving me feel some sort of closure…don’t get me wrong, I would love nothing more than to keep reading more stories on this couple and their friends. Do not let the amount of pages in these book stop you either because I was surprised myself that the pages seemed to fly by and left me hoping that this wild crazy ride with these people would never end.
If there is one series you want to read and you love rock romances full of angst, love, sex and camaraderie you need to put this series on the top of your list.
No real surprise that I am back with another rave review, is there? The chemistry between Jamison Rivera and Sylvie Embers is irresistible, regardless of the emotional rollercoaster they take each other, and the readers, on. Never come across a fictional couple quite like them, and they won't soon be forgotten. I am okay with where their story ends for now, but I can't wait for Nancy...as well as Lucy and Ben and Vin and V and most certainly more Alex, and a few other side characters who have definitely caught my interest.
Must read series, though Broken Chord is most definitely not a standalone.
This book does such a great job at redemption! Every character in this book deserves their own story, including Jamison 's mom and dad! Great writing, a can't miss series! Highly recommended!
Vous Pour La Vie Sylvie From the first time Jamison Noah Rivera said this to Sylvie Eloise Embers I was on a book high that I haven’t felt in long time, but you know the old saying, the higher you go – the further you fall. This book follows right after Twelve Months Reprieve ends and yes – they have to be read in order, but fair warning if you do, be prepared for the mother of all book hangovers. In the hundreds upon hundreds of books and series I have read this will be in my all-time top ten favorites and for not the usual reasons. Ms Gadd created a world that sucked you in and refused to spit you out, characters so flawed that you might want to fling that kindle against a wall, some of you might even give up on the story but I couldn’t because this is a deeper book than the normal rock star story. It is mainly about Sylvie and her past colliding with her present, the hints were there from book one, her backstory is throughout the series and comes to a head in this book. I had to keep reminding myself that this book takes place for the first three quarters over 6 weeks’ time or I might have given in to the urge to fling my kindle as well. I love the band, their relationship to each other, I love Sylvie’s support system, Lucy, Vi and Nancy, oh EVERYONE should have a Nancy in their life and Alex, it is very rare that a book has another potential leading man right in the heart of the story but there he is. However this is Jamison & Sylvie’s story and in Ms Gadds’ gut wrenching way to the conclusion, getting them together was not an easy road, but an epic journey of how far you will go to be with the love of your life or run the risk of destroying each other forever. This review was not easy because I haven’t fully decompressed from finishing the book. I did wait ten months for Broken Chord and it was absolutely worth the wait. While other supporting characters definitely have stories to be told, this epic tale will stay with me for a very long time.
always his, always him.....from the lips of Sylvie "sigh"
First off I just don't know where to start with this review.....I've been waiting months for this book and I wasn't disappointed at all with this ending! Miss Gadd did an amazing job with this one. At times I was so mad I could throw my kindle. "gasp" I know right....but that's a freaking brilliant thing when your an avid reader and love this group of characters so much you get so frustrated you could throw your kindle. This book literally tore me into shreds time and time again, ugly crying, hot AF sex scenes, laugh out loud moments, more frustrating circumstances again, then this is the book and series for you! When an author can bring out these emotions and feelings from a reader she has done her job and done it well. And Miss Gadd done that for this reader hands down my favorite book so far of 2018. This book was an emotional roller coaster of epic proportions and I loved every minute of them. The first two books I was ticked off at Jamison "Jam" Rivera, but this book I did a complete turn around a 360 degree turn around and was ticked off at Sylvia for most of this one. I'm not ready for this series to end and hopefully hint, hint, and wink it won't be ending anytime soon. I need more and some unanswered questions lurking in my readers mind and head that need to be answered with hopefully more books. I could go on and on for this review but I don't like to do spoilers seriously I don't, I think a reader should go in with no misconceptions and view and read a book for the first time without them. It's your own opinion that should really matter and not everyone else's. I seriously think though this book deserves 5 STARS or more. Like I said when an author can wring out such amazing feelings from a reader she's done her job brilliantly well. I was super stoked for this book and not disappointed at all! I am one HAPPY reader right now! Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
This was probably the longest book I've read in years but wow, what a story! I have lived and breathed these characters for days ... no tv except hockey games ... no activity except walking my dog Molly ... and I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever.
I only have a select few characters that strike my heart and stay there and Jamison Rivera is now on that list. Hell, all of these characters suggest to me that I need, really really need, more. Especially Vinny and Alex who have captured my heart as well.
Now this book is ultimately the hard won HEA for Sylvie and Jamison. Sylvie at times drove me crazy with frustration but I could ultimately understand her as well. Then her knight in shining armor, Alex, saved her soul and her sanity. This ultimately gave her the courage to face her demons when she goes to L.A. to help Lucy with her wedding. Lucy, her best friend, is marrying Jamison's best friend and bandmate, Ben.
There is far too many things to say about this series so I'm just going to quit right here and STRONGLY suggest you read it. If you are a sap for great love stories coupled with rock gods, read it!
Finally, this author has opened the door for a bunch of new stories...I'd love one on ALEX, VINNY, BEN,....just to name a few!! Hint, hint R. Gadd! lol
This book gets all the stars. The first two in the trilogy were good, but this one wrecked me with feelings. I'm only sad that it's over. I'll read it again, but you can only read something for the first time once. I would give this 6 stars if I could (sadly, 5 is the max Goodreads allows).
I just finished the 12 Months series. I thought the 1st book was a stand alone until I got near the end of it & thought, 'how is this going to be resolved in this amount of time?'. I have to say I wasn't thrilled with moving on but I was invested so, on I went. I had to put these books down several times because the heartbreaking angst was way too much at times. I didn't want to lose sleep over fictional characters but that was happening! I loved the H, super sexy, bad boy guitar slinging, panty chasing Jamison. He intrigued me right from the start. Can't say I felt the same way about the h, Silvie. She was too much to take for most of the 3 books. I got that she had a lack of self confidence for so long because of the crappy emotional hand she was dealt by her family. She wore it like armour. Touring with a rock band was a sure way to break her down even more especially since she was on said tour to write a biographical book about the hot men of Twisted Temper. She & Jamison had a frenemies kind of relationship for a while until it turned into an obsession that both worried were going to ruin the other. How they resolved it made me want to scream so LOUD & toss my kindle in the toilet. Ugh. But even though it hurt my heart to continue, I did. Glad, even with the awful angst, that I finished. I was a good series, very long, maybe about 1800 pages between the 3 books. Then ending was worth it I think, the only part where I actually like Sylvie. I was left wondering about Alex especially...wonder if he will get a book. I was disappointed with the outcome for V & V in the epilogue. Maybe a book for them will be in the future as well. I need to go read something else to wash the pain from my brain from all the back & forth of emotions this worthy book has left me with.
This came highly recommended by Kathy at Kara's Books and let me tell you EVERYTHING she recommends is beyond incredible and Twelve Months the entire series did not disappoint. She is like the rock and roll romance book whisperer. Beware though, Kathy recommends books that rip your heart out (in a good way) then put it back together in an incredible heart melting way but the in between is brutal on your emotions and oh, so worth it. The emotions this rock star romance created articulated from a crazy roller coaster ride of happiness, frustration, elation, hot, sappy, sexy, maddening, tears, and so many heart wrenching moments more so for Jamison than Sylvie. How I love that man, Jamison; the character name alone was enough to pull me in (I love a great hero name). I am beyond sad the series is over but I will definitely be re-reading it over and over again.
Sylvie frustrated me with her back and forth BUT the author made up for it once she finally gave in, realizing Jamison owned his mistakes, that he really vowed and refused to settle for anything other than Sylvie being his forever "always his, always him" ... "vous pour la vie, Sylvie". Whew both lines so powerful and unforgettable. This author gave us everything we always want from a read, a great epilogue and then some, children, their every day life style for not only them but the rest of the band was included.
The rest of the band? Brett, described as a cocky drop dead gorgeous lead singer with just enough of a southern accent to melt both genders everything. Ben, not only handsome but add that English accent and the way he protected Jamison and Sylvie well, you can't help but fall for him and want to know what he has to say or be in the know of what he's up to. He loves fiercely and deeply that one, so loyal. Vinny, lots of LOL moments with his crazy antics and curls that fly everywhere since he can't sit still. He's the perfect definition of an artist with all of the eclectic characteristics used to describe him. When I think of Vinny, I smile wishing he was real and a friend of mine. Their girlfriends eventually wives, Lucy and Nancy...Nancy, especially I loved her blunt, brutal and crass honesty. Lucy, was just okay for me but the others made up for what she lacked for me. V...Veronica I'm still surprised with that outcome but maybe it's not over??? One can hope. I'd love Alex's story too, honestly I could read about this band and the entire other list of characters endlessly...It's That Good! Don't hesitate if rock romance is your preferred genre download this now! It's dirty, it's appalling, dark, sexy, really hot, vulgar too...all of those in such a good way with an incredible journey, a story worth your time and money. I still stop and think how Jamison and Sylvie first met, SMH, great way and who would've thought? Brilliant and suckered me right in from that point on.
Finley, Sylvie's nephew stole the show so much in this book. My God, his one liners and crass comments had me rolling, one would hope a regular 8-9 year old doesn't really talk like that but hey it's a book and it's very funny. No grammar police here please, this is a great read by a very talented author with an incredible imagination so back off with the judging; it's fairy tale remember that.
Sylvie's brother, I'm still on the fence with him. Selfish comes to mind when ever I think of him. I'm all for forgiving him because I believe we forgive others for ourselves so we can move on no matter how bad that other person wronged us but I feel he's just as guilty as her father. That whole scene in Mason and his living room was excellent, details were gut wrenching and her harsh words were so powerful and right. I wanted to jump and cheer for her for holding nothing back. Excellent writing by this author, not only Sylvie but she made sure every character shined at their fullest potential according to their personality and role in the books. That is so hard to do, that balance and she delivered it so eloquently.
Cliffhanger, no...all books are released in this series. Don't hesitate download now. Cheating, just kissing if you consider that cheating and they weren't even officially together yet; if that makes sense. I write this because I despise books with cheating but it was different here throughout this series if it happens, ties into the rock star life style, sort of. Three somes, no. Great hero and heroine, yes and all secondary characters, were strong and phenomenal, too. Epilogue, this was beyond that, this author gave us everything we wish for into their future and then some. It didn't end, we kept getting more and more of their future, it was perfection. I can't say enough good things about this entire series. I am so grateful Kathy recommended this to me and look forward to everything else she has in store for me.
I was not asked to read this book by the author, I am not a friend of hers and was not given a copy. This is my honest opinion.
5 Stars Absolutely LOVED this 3 book series. First time reading this new author. Definitely won’t be my last. Incredibly well written story. Some of the best character development that I’ve read in a long time. All the characters were just terrific. Nancy was my fav so I can’t wait for her book up next.
I was sent a recommendation through GR to read this series and OH MY FREAKING GOD am I so glad I gave this a chance. It’s been quite a while since I have read a rock star romance which is weird for me since I have such a passion for music. Kudos to the author because it feels like most would have spread this series over 15+ books. The author sucks you in, made me disappear completely into Jam and Sylvie’s world and gosh darn, I DID NOT WANT IT TO END. This is by far the series of the year for me and can’t wait to see where/how/when the other characters get their chance too.
The author puts a music playlist at the end of each book which is really cool because I liked to play each song while I read. Here’s a quick list of songs that come to my mind when thinking about Jam and Sylv-
Sorry - Nothing But Thieves Silver Springs - Fleetwood Mac I Will Possess Your Heart - DCFC Would You Fight For My Love? - Jack White Times Like These - Foo Fighters
Absolutely fell in love with this series! It captivated me from page one I kept stalling because I didn’t want it to end I didn’t want to leave Twisted Tempers world behind I want to marvel in their accomplishments in their sorrows I wasn’t ready to let them go, but everything good must always reach its ending and in this case it was a beautiful HEA after all the ups and downs each and every character had to overcome in order to finally have some semblance of a fulfilled life.
Gladly recommend this series it was fantastic one I will definitely remember always!
Jamison Noah Rivera- Sylvie Eloise Embers. What a gut wrenching beautiful walk with these two through there crazy love. Gadd once again made you fall into the pages of this love and feel it all. Few times have I read a series that makes it so unbelievably real. These people k. This book have to be real people, that’s what it feels like when you read this series. This third and final book I the twelve month series was as good and maybe better than the first two. Nothing was left undone it unanswered. Bless Jamison’s heart for all the women he bedded and broke he is now getting a taste of what it’s like to be the dad. I didn’t think these two were gonna make it. I cried so many times and always thought I couldn’t handle anymore but I fought it and made it to the other side along with this extraordinary love story. Finally Brett came to his senses. Ben and Lucy so sweet. As for V and Vinny we have to have more because these two are made for each other. I so hope we get to have mor books with the rest of these guys and their loves. We need more Dex and Liv, Alex and Gina, and Dee she needs to find love. As for Samara I hope we see no more of that witch. I read lots of books but I don’t come across many authors that truly have a gift for writing. Oh they write books I like but they don’t necessarily touch you to your core. This author has it and I can’t wait for more.
I spent nine days reading the Twelve Month series wrapping up with Broken Chord. During these days while reading this series I felt happiness, love, sadness, pissed, outraged, hopeful, anxious with heart palpitations, heartbreak, humor, love again and resolution. Holy heck!
Yes, I noticed more grammatical errors in this book, but happily overlooked them because I sincerely loved the story of Sylvie & Jamison. The grammatical errors could also have been a misunderstanding because I couldn’t put this book down and read at ungodly hours of the night! My eyes may have misunderstood, but I couldn’t put the book down! The book is long, but I wouldn’t cut any of it out.
Their journey was very emotional and bless both their hearts for making it to the end of the book! The meek writer met the hot and famous guitarist of Twisted Temper. Hearts were broken and the damage feared to be irreversible. They fight through and do get their hea. No details here though, read the story.
During this series you meet and also fall in love with Jamison’s band mates and their woman who are or become Sylvia’s best friends.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who is addicted to rockstar romance and loves to read epic love stories with all the feels and a lot of angst!
I will keep my fingers crossed that Glorified Soul will be punished to get a better understanding of Alex: Sylvie’s guardian Angel who apparently has a dark past that he’s not let anyone see yet.
Jamison and Sylvie. What a road they traveled. I hated for the book and series to end! I feel there is another story waiting to be told. Actually two. Alex's and Vin and Veronica's. This is a must read series. Each book is Kong and filled with angst and tears. But so very worth it. Highly recommend the series.
After the way Jamison completely destroyed Sylvie in the previous book, I was expecting this book to be about him groveling to get her back. When he started thinking about all the ways he was going to use Dee to hurt Sylvie and make her jealous and then started fanaticizing about Dee and Sylvie having sex, I was so disgusted that I DNF. 🤬
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Talk about putting her heart and soul into writing this trilogy! This series really worked.
The final book is about how Sylvie finds herself and Jamison once again and whereas the 2nd book was pure angst, this book was much more mellow but just as riveting.
I would definitely read other work by this author.
Does this mean that both V and Alex will be getting their own stories?....
