Education isn’t just a job; it’s a calling. It’s a role that comes with the responsibility to care deeply and to persist despite countless challenges—from state testing to budget cuts to long hours. It’s a way of life that rewards us with milestone moments and fills us with pride for the children and communities we serve. Stories from Webb goes right to the heart of education. Told by award-winning principal Todd Nesloney and his dedicated team of staff and teachers at Webb Elementary, this book will remind you why you became an educator. You’ll be reinvigorated by these relatable stories—and you just may be inspired to tell your own!
So many great ideas and reminders to help get excited and recommitted to the last quarter of the school year. I love this book’s approach. What a great opportunity for a staff to tell their stories. Inspired!
I had to push myself to finish this. I was hoping for lots of concrete ideas to implement, but the book is more like Chicken Soup for the Soul, with tons of anecdotes and reflections by educators at Webb Elementary. There are tons of references to Jesus, God, the Bible and faith, which rubbed me the wrong way. Texas definitely has a different vibe than Seattle!
"So many of our kids come to school just to be loved." "You can't stop ever trying to do things that are better for kids." "School should be based on relationships." "Know their names." "You can't reach a child's head until you reach their heart." "Find your people, those who will push you to be better than you dreamed." "look past the frustrations and just love them."
Excellent Inspirational book made of short stories from staff members of Webb Elementary in Texas. I saw such parallels between Webb and my school Fairview. This book gave me hope, courage, and faith that what I know to be right and good in education Is in place today by caring faithful teachers who love their students and dream big things for them.
Stories From Webb by Todd Nesloney is an amazing book! Nesloney as principal, gives his staff an opportunity to share their stories as authors! This book will inspire you as an educator. This is one that I reread for encouragement.
