Weak ending

I should have read the reviews. I dislike this type of paranormal trope. But I read it, and it started off really fast and then fizzled out. And the ending was just too fast and quickly wrapped up but not all the way. Loose ends abounded. And one of the really bad guys got away. I would not read a sequel however. It was just too arduous and not my jam. A girl is murdered at the start of the book quite grizzly, and the young boys start acting crazy and craving something. They don't know what, but it is making them crazy. And then a couple of weeks later one of those boys sees a young girl and he kills her by sucking her blood dry. Another boy watches it and he has the craving too. So he picks up a girl and kills her too by sucking her blood dry. But he gets caught and then the truth about the boarding school is revealed. Its just a crazy premise but I did read it all the way through. As I said the ending to me was almost anticlimactic and very rushed. The book ends at 88 percent. I like this authors writing and I will continue to read her always but I just really dislike this trope. I probably should raise this to three but I am just not sure due to ending.

In Cold Blood: Detective Forrest Albu - a review by Rosemary Kenny

*slight spoilers*
Detective Forrest Albu is no Kurt Wallander-like, Scandi-noir lawman. For a start, he's a vampire -albeit a Twilight/Robert Pattinson-alike one, as he doesn't kill humans to drink from - and secondly, he's more along the lines of a Van Helsing, as he's also a vampire hunter!!
When a Danish boarding school welcomes a new young, (recently-widowed) headmistress, Sara and her young sister Eloise to its campus, it seems the beginning of a fresh era in the institution's history. Yet when gruesome murders start to take place among the students, questions are asked as to why the educational sanctuary for the children of the rich and famous is suddenly anything but, it takes the collaboration of both Albu and Sara, who must face up to the supernatural forces at work and that Albu will have all his abilities, as a detective and demon-hunter tested to the full.

As ever, Queen of Mystery, Horror and Suspense Willow Rose plays deliciously terrifying tricks on your nerves, while tantalisingly revealing the development of the plot, she teases who the culprit is and what drives them to behave the way they do, before making you realise she had you completely fooled, as the truth is ultimately laid bare for your reading delectation - and bookshelves. Go get it!!

Do Not-I repeat-Do not read this at night! I started in the evening and had to stop. Then I proceeded to have nightmares!! I finished it the next day in the daylight and it still sent shivers up and down my spine!!

This is a vampire book unlike any you have ever read before!! It takes place in a posh boarding school where tradition is everything. The new young headmistress and her sister both hope for a new start. They get more then they bargained for.

Detective Forrest is on the case and keeps smelling trouble.

There is a kind of a happy ending---or is there?

When I saw the book cover of In Cold Blood, I thought it would be a gothic mystery. But the truth is it is a paranormal ya mystery. I started the 2022 year with a mediocre book. Hopefully, my subsequent reads will be better.
Also, it was the first time I read a book set in Denmark, based on an existing school.

I didn't get into this story, and I felt the characters had not developed enough for me to get attached. I would have liked the story to start from the beginning to see how the 3rd year students got turned and then a little more about Forest's history and personality. It would have been more interesting to me to learn of Emily's extraordinary powers as she discovered them instead of light coming out of the holes in her neck with no explanation. It seemed like it was a hurry up and get this thing written! Maybe it's better for the younger readers.
I don't think I will continue with the series.

School

Sara and Emilie are sisters who have lost both their parents. Sara has also lost her husband, her soul mate. He left her set up for life, but Sara is so sad and lost that she let her so called friends lead her blindly into drinking and gambling. Needless to say she's now broke with some bad people after her who she owes money to. Now she not only has to worry how she's going to pay them back, she also has to worry how she's going to take care of Emilie who ahe is raising on her own. Out of the blue ahe gets a phone call. This school wants HER to be in charge! The pay is awesome! It's her second chance at doing things the right way.

When she moves to the house that the school has provided for her and Emily it's perfect. The only downside is the unsolved murder that took place at the school three months earlier.

This is book is about vampires. I don't usually read this kind of book, but the Queen of Scream Willow Rose wrote is so I gave it a try and I'm glad I did! Willow will pull you into each character and let you follow the plot that is well written. This book is a page turner that you just can't put down! I wish I could give it more than five stars because it deserves ten!

Detective Forrest Albu is called in to investigate the mysteriously gruesome murder of a teenaged girl at an elite boarding school. With a decapitated and ‘dis-heartened’ victim, Forrest latches onto secretive suspects and presumes the culprit is enamored of an arcane French Revolution era killing style!

Depressed recent widow, Sara Damsgaard is surprised and determined about her appointment as the boarding school’s new headmaster. But it addresses her new responsibilities of debts, getting sober, guardianship duties like providing a home and education for her teenaged sister, Emilie.

Media stories of cruelty and terror have earned the school a notorious reputation Sara has no idea how she’ll improve it as she’s told students policing and disciplining students is expectation of their school. As Sara ponders the knotty problem, Forrest returns with over fresh issues and his unresolved D&D murder.

This is a new to me author brought a fresh and sinister tale, neglecting to warn the reader of Forrest’s brilliance (i.e. prone to correct leaps of logic to fit the story), telegraphing and foretelling leaps. For my taste, the stiff writing fit the story as did the too slow pace, despite those quibbles, the tale was engaging with interesting characters.

'In Cold Blood' was another great book from Willow Rose. I absolutely love her work. The story line is incredibly thrilling and full of suspense. Well written and well played out. I wasn't sure what I was in for because I didn't read the book description (I didn't need to read it due to the fact that one of my favorite authors wrote it, therefore I knew I would love it). The way the story played out had me thinking I knew what was going on and what might be happening, but I was way wrong. The characters were a great mix of persons. Forrest makes a great lead. I love his outlook. I look forward to reading more of the 'Detective Forrest Albu Series'. Recommended read.

A great read and a great introduction to an author That I discovered simply by chance.

While browsing The book selection one evening I came across this title and I purchased it without knowing anything about the author. This book alone has shown me that this is an author that I definitely want to read more of. This was a great book that was well written And the characters were solid and you felt like you had known them for a long time. It kept My attention to the point that I read this book in less than 24 hours. And I still manage to get some housework done. I'm looking forward to reading more of her work in the near future.

In Cold Blood by Willow Rose

Sara Damsgaard takes a job as a school principle mainly because she’s in debt and she wants to create a more secure surrounding for her younger sister. She is unaware, that this old boarding school is steeped in tradition, and the other professors want her there in name only: to act as a silent partner, something she is unwilling to do.
When a girl is killed in the forest, the sinister Detective Forrest is assigned to the case. He says he can smell evil and Sara is suspicious of him.
However, to save the school, Forrest and Sara must team up to catch the killer. They soon learn of a sinister school tradition which could involve those closest to Sara.

"A Super Novel of Vampires"

Denmark Detective Forrest is very talented. He can always smell evil. He's been concealing his fangs for centuries only revealing them to his kind who thirst for blood. At a boarding school, Sara Damsguaard is newly widowed and as headmistress of the school she seeks to care for her young sister. Brutal attacks are made in the student body. Forrest and Sara team together to find the killer, or killers. This is a supernatural horror story as only the Queen of Scream can entertain her readers. Be prepared to see blood ... but, please, don't try to taste it!

In Cold Blood

I had read a few excerpts from books by Willow Rose so I decided that, even though I am not normally a fan of the genre, I would try this book. I only got to read a little to know I was hooked. The story takes you through a tumult of emotions and I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an interesting twist on what I would call a supernatural thriller. Superb!

Detective Forrest has arrived at the most elite private school in Sweden to investigate a murder. Sara is the new headmaster and her sister Emilie is a new student. Emilie has major empath abilities and can feel everything others are feeling around her. Forrest is a very unusual detective, he is a vampire and needs Emilie's help to find the killers as the bodies stack up, and he is fighting his heart against falling in love with Sara.

Amazing vampires reading 📚

Due to eye issues Alexa reads to me, a will written fantasy horror romantic thriller mystery that takes place in Denmark. The characters are interesting and will developed. The story line is very complicated as vampires murder students at a private school. The conclusion is unexpected.I would recommend this novel to readers of fantasy and mysteries. Enjoy reading 🔰2021 😈

Moonlight it is...

A detective who can literally smell evil, his beloved who is a mere mortal, and her sister who feels everyone's emotions as if they are her own. Best vampire tale I've read in a long time. Can't wait to find out why Emilie had glowing light coming out of her when Jakob bit her. Please don't make me wait another 6 years to read more ;)

This book started out hard to follow, but than I really got into it. Sara accepts a job as headmistress at a school in Denmark for the elite kids. After losing her husband, losing all her money to gambles and becoming a drunk, this job could be a new start for her and her young sister. But not all is as it seems with the students at the school who have "prefects" who discipline other students.

In cold blood

A school for the elite, but what a school! The book draws you in and keeps the horror coming. The characters are so intense and on such a ride that the story moves quickly. Twists and turns are the order of the day. So glad I had the chance to read and review this book. Willow doesn’t disappoint her readers.

I've learned that you either love Willow Rose or you wonder, "Is this really the same Willow Rose I've been reading for so long??" This was one of the "wonder reactions". It's just recently that I've found she has science-fiction-type books, and I'm not 100% "into them". Pretty weird story, even though it does manage to hold one's attention.

Another good story .

I love this writers flow and characters, but this time , story seem rushed and simplistic. Not Ms. Rose
's usual detail and the story just fell a little flat. I have devoerd so many of her books that I guess I was just expect the same type of fuvor or gusto. I hope the next ones will be better.

A unique vampire story that is written quite well. It hooked me from the first chapter, slowed a little in between and had a satisfying conclusion.
I am just discovering Willow Rose and I look forward to reading many more of her previous stories as well!

interesting story line

interesting characters, wonderful backstory.. I just couldn't get involved At any point. I think, I felt like the story was being told to me in a fourth person, so no real emotion was attached..

DNF this started off ok, in the first few pages there is a murder, the detective decides it’s a serial killer , without any evidence of that. I would have continued reading had it not gone to some severe abusive boarding school bullying . If you can deal with that scenario, you may enjoy this book.

Different

First time I have read one of this style from the author. Used to her "normal" stories so this was a pleasant surprise. Good vampires, Detective Albu, bad vampires, students and everything in between. Enjoyable read.

Eh. I had too many issues, both with story and with editing, to really enjoy this book. Honestly, I have a bunch of Willow Rose books that I've picked up as freebies and I won't be rushing to read any of them after reading this one.
