It starts out as an Auror fic in which Harry is unlucky for his partners, so he's not been assigned a permanent partner, and instead shares an office with Draco, who is a Strategic Apparatus Technician (Ron and his squad call him Q! <3). But it quickly evolves into something much more. Very fun.
I loved all of the traditional Sara's Girl elements: quirky pets, spectacular magical creatures, and delightful original characters. I also thoroughly enjoyed the scenes with Arthur's forays into magical molecular gastronomy. So much fun!
Some Favorite Quotes: He looks so open, so easy, so much like a mad scientist that Harry's chest hurts and he forgets every sensible word in his vocabulary.
"Well, whatever word you want to use. Partner, boyfriend, significant entity..."
The last thing Harry wants to do is present Draco with something that says, 'god, I love you, you stupid bastard', so he sticks to tins of biscuits and little metal tools from incomprehensible catalogues and other things that say, 'have a festive time of year, appreciated colleague'. Possibly.
Tropes: – Draco/Harry fanfiction – Friends to lovers
This was such a cute read where the pair decide to become co-owners of a cafe and in the process, Harry's feelings for his old teammate at the DMLE (he's a very good SAT, thank you very much) come to light. I love love stories by Sara's Girl!
Maybe not 4 full stars. The writing style is delightful as always, but it was slow at times for me and I had to re-read a few passages because my mind kept wandering. It doesn't keep you gripped like other works from Sara's. That said it's an enjoyable Christmas fanfiction!
This is wonderfully warm and beautiful. It started as a mysterious case in a small town which turned out to be something totally unexpected.
Harry was in his middle age and he felt miserable, he hated his job and life felt wrong but he didn't know how to fix it. It's just like most of people's life, when we look back at some point, we find life unsatisfying and absolutely not what we imagine it would be when we were younger (whether or not we had a plan), and that we have achieve nothing is just adding insult to injury. However, life might disregard our plan, it's also full of surprise at every turn.
I love Draco in this story, he's warm and soft (around Harry). In addition, the setting of mad scientist and Q is fantastic!
