A big Irish knight, much beloved by his English men, faces his biggest challenge when an injury nearly claims his life… and his confidence as a warrior.
The man known as the “High Warrior” is an Irish knight with an English overlord. Sir Bric MacRohan serves the House of de Winter in the dark times following the Anarchy.
Once the most aggressive, all-powerful knight in the realm, a great injury forces Bric to realize that he is, indeed, mortal. Though he recovers from the injury, it changes how he commands his men and how he handles himself in battle. Mentally, his is far more injured than he is, physically.
Enter Lady Ellison “Ellie” de Gael. The daughter of a bastard of the Earls of East Anglia, Ellison is used as a pawn by her ambitious father to secure an alliance with de Winter. She is forced to marry de Winter’s greatest knight in an unhappy circumstance.
But what she never expected was how much she would come to love him.
When the greatest swordsman that England has ever seen lays down his weapon due to battle fatigue, it’s up to Ellison and those who love Bric to help the man regain his confidence as a warrior, and to once again do what he was born to do. Men like Christopher de Lohr... David de Lohr... Juston de Royans... and many more recognizable knights from Le Veque's Medieval world all pull together to help Bric recover what he has lost... himself.
Medieval Romance has never been so emotional – or so romantic – as Bric and Ellison discover the true power of their love.
(Note: This book is also related to the House of de Winter series and includes characters from the de Lohr Dynasty and Lords of de Royans series).

Greater love hath no man, than he lay down his life for his friends.
Another new author for me. Loved the book. It is a touching story about a knight who is fighting his loss of courage in battle. A warrior who had also vowed never to marry, finds his way back to greatness through the love of a wife he never wanted. The story was very well written and the the narration by Sean Patrick Hopkins was also excellent. If I had any complaint, it would be that Bric was almost too in love with his wife. And almost sappy at times. I hate to complain about something like that, but it didn't at all go with the character introduced in the beginning of the book. I expected just a little more angst between them. But all in all, it was compelling story.
An Amazing story!! I was not prepared for the emotions that seeped through the pages as I rapidly read this book. The life of a knight came alive and the hero Sir Bric MacRohan, named the High Warrior as head of the de Winter war machine, was one of the fiercest men alive. He is respected by all of the knights and is very aggressive and without fear. Never thinking of marriage, he is unexpectedly betrothed to Lady Eiselle de Gael as a reward for saving a friend's life. But as this strong knight and this gentle lady meet, amazing feelings emerge for them both. Before they can even get their married life started Bric is off to battle and for the first time being severely injured and fighting for his life. As he begins to heal he is again sent to battle and upon his tragic return, he experiences feelings he has never felt before, having a fear of battle and no spirit of the warrior left inside. This opened my eyes to thoughts of warriors through the ages that experienced the modern term PTSD we label today. But in those times it was thought they were weak. When Bric's fellow warrior knights band together to help him, can he be saved? Can Eiselle's love be strong enough to support him? This book made me feel so many emotions. I smiled, I cried ( yes I did) and I cheered Bric on his journey. Kathryn Le Veque is a master at bringing the characters to life and making the history real. She captures the essence of the medieval times and does not let you go until the end. I know this story will stay with me for a long time and It will have a place in my heart always.
High Warrior is an Irish knight with an English Overlord. Sir Bric MacRohan serves the house of Dr Winter in the dark times which follow the Anarchy.
Sir Bric was once the most aggressive, all powerful knight in the realm, but a great injury forces him to realize that he is as mortal as the rest of us. Even though he does recover from the injury, it changes how he commands his men and how he handles himself on the battlefield. Mentally, he is far more injured then he ever could have been physically.
Lady Eiselle we Gael is a daughter of the bastard of the Earl's of Anglia and nothing , but a pawn in a man's world. Her ambitious father uses her to secure an alliance with de Winter and she is forced to marry de Winters greatest knight weather she wants to or not. What she never expected was that she would come to love her husband in such a short time.
When Bric lays down his weapon due to battle fatigue, it's up to those that love him to help him regain his confidence as the all mighty warrior he once was so that he can again do what he was born to do.
Kathryn LeVeque has totally blown my mind with this book as it's absolutely brilliant. She is able to address a few issues such as love, loss, and what we now call PTSD. There is also a fair amount of humor in this book that tips the balance making it a lighter read although there are heavy issues with the characters. Ms. LeVeque I must say my hat goes off to you for this incredibly written book. If I could give you more then 5 stars I would.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 Within the first three chapters I’ve laughed at Bric trying to escape his friends, I’ve sighed at his thoughtfulness and his conversation with his betrothed, and I’ve cried at his reaction to death in battle. This man is a bull but he has a big heart . What more could you want . The emotional reaction I get from Kathryn’s books is wonderful a gift i welcome every time . But make sure the tissues are ready, because as with others of Kathryn’s ,this book will put you though the ringer. I sobbed in parts , and wholly lost myself in this truly magnificent and magical world . The camaraderie and brotherhood these men have in battle is nothing short of breathtaking, they would die for each other and in some cases they use to. But our hero Bric is a man who although tough ,has such a soft and loving side , not just for his wife but for his brothers in war , it’s so wonderful to see . This book showed me that all the knights of old really needed was Honour ,friends who believe in you and would do anything for you no matter what, and the love of a good woman is this case Eiselle, if you have that then you are invincible. There are some excellent characters in this one , Bric’s cousins Keeva and Daveigh are there ,as are Dashiell, Bentley and Sean DeLara , and another great one Manducor , the cast is inspired and all play significant rolls in this story . All together another massive hit from Kathryn LeVeque . This is Highly Recommended!
I received an advanced copy of this book and chose to submit a review
For hundreds of years, PTSD has been an unknown, horrific condition wherein the sufferers were misdiagnosed (if at all) and mistreated. In medieval times, a knight was trained for battle at a very early age and lived for fighting. That is pretty much all they knew, all their lives. No matter how they conditioned themselves to be impervious and blind to the unspeakable sights and conditions they experienced, it had to have some kind of effect on their minds. Kathryn Le Veque delves into one such knight's experiences and the effects they have on him and his warrior status. It was a unique perspective and she did a masterful job with "High Warrior." The book also contained a very sweet romance and the meaning of the true brotherhood that develops among men who are tied together forming a special relationship and bond while fighting for their very lives and those of their comrades. I thought it was a brilliant combination and was executed beautifully. Another winner by Kathryn Le Veque. I loved it.
The next time someone hears me say that I’m going to read a Kathryn Le Veque novel while I’m sick and already going through a box a tissues an hour, they need to steal my Kindles. This book took me through the emotional wringer – so my tissue count went way up. One of the greatest things about this author’s books, is they are all connected in some way. One of my favorite characters I’ve loved from Le Veque’s books is Dashiel, who we met in Godspeed, and he is back in this book, and not as a one page cameo appearance. He’s a full on supporting cast member which just sweetened the pot for me. But I also fell in love with Bric and Eiselle. When Bric was going through a tough time and a form of PTSD for Knights of his caliber, I went through plenty of extra tissues. But then there was laughter, tears of joy and outright cheering. To see Eiselle become the strong woman she was meant to be was satisfying. To see the camaraderie of the Knights and the strength of their bond was amazing. The attention paid to true historical detail is always woven into the stories. The reader will feel like they are there, witnessing the story unfold, not just reading it, and feeling the emotions the characters are feeling. So my hat’s off to Kathryn for another winner, she knocked it out of the park again. I have a long way to go to get through all of Kathryn’s books and they all read well as standalones, but I know it will only enhance my experience with her characters by reading the full catalog. I just have to make sure I don’t have a cold when I pick up another of her books. Reviewed by Cyrene
Kathryn Le Veque writes epic tales of strong invincible god-like warriors who prevail under the most harrowing of circumstances. What happens when the most invincible of them all is broken?
High Warrior explores this theme and more. As in most Le Veque stories, we are treated to the humor and camaraderie of men of war, we meet the women who love them. We experience their fears and shortcomings as well as their great capacity to love and be loved. That love takes many forms and I am frankly here for all of them.
Bric MacRohan, the primary hero of this piece, is known as the High Warrior. The greatest knight of the deWinter war machine. The man is a legend. A legend who has no use for women and marriage. That is until his superiors force an arranged marriage upon him against his will. Fortunately, for him, it was the best thing that ever happened to him.
Eiselle deGael is the young woman selected by her cousin, Dashiell duRiems, to wed his good friend. She is a timid young woman, though beautiful, she has low self esteem. Bric and Eiselle quickly form an affinity for each other and our story blossoms from there.
PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) has been a part of life as long as there has been fighting and strife. It was interesting watching the way this is handled in a medieval setting. As always, I am floored by Le Veque's detailed descriptions of the times. I am transported back in time each time I sit down with one of her stories.
Pick up this book and immerse yourself in the wonderful medieval world of Kathryn Le Veque. You won't be disappointed!📚❤️️📚
Kathryn LeVeque just may have outdone herself this time! In case you aren’t familiar with her work, she writes amazing medieval Romance novels. Once you enter into her world of Medieval Romance, you quite possibly may wish you never had to leave. All of her books are carefully researched with many components based loosely on real people, places. An historical fact. Due to her full attention to historical accuracy, she incorporates extremely detailed, close combat, battles fought during the medieval conflicts of that time and their effects on the men who were raised to fight in them without question. Her characters are extremely well developed, presenting multi-levels of their character and personality. As the reader, you are able to look through the window of time to experience the anguish of watching loved ones go off to these horrific battles not knowing if they will return whole and healthy or even return at all. As in most romantic novels, there is great love, deep romance, mystery and deception. We also experience the subtle humor as we watch the growth of the characters as they face their own inner turmoil, faults, and the realization that they personally need to make changes in their lives so they are more in control of their own, desired, personal, direction in life. You will laugh, you will cry, and you might even recognize yourself in some of the characters. I’d say this is a definite do not miss book! It’s awesome in my opinion!
Powerfully and Boldly Told! – “A man hath no greater love than he lay down his life for his friends”
Le Veque always writes a ‘meaty’ tale, and High Warrior is no different. In fact, once the tale ended, I felt completely replete and extremely satisfied with the outcome of two lovers and their heartache finding their dream.
Le Veque’s stories, with richly textured, often deeply scarred or flawed characters keep me thoroughly entrenched page after page. With all the conflict and struggle of life challenges, I have much to ponder, for I can always take away something of import from her stories – situations, although in Medieval times. They resonate deeply within my own romantic heart. High Warrior goes beyond just another historical romance, our hero fights the effects of PSTD, a mental condition not accepted with compassion as we have come to understand presently, nor understood as anything other than weakness.
Our hero warrior is Bric MacRohan, revered for his mighty strength and unquestioning fearlessness on the battle field, and loved by his men. He is a man of little emotion, the men are used to that.
However, a talisman given him long ago holds much wisdom in the words inscribed upon it. He carries it always, often taking it out and kissing it during battles. The words, “A man hath no greater love than he lay down his life for his friends” a knight understands. Their brotherhood and protective spirit to bring them all home is paramount. Bric has been instrumental in saving many lives. His close friend, Dashiell, is in a position to pay him back, but with a gift Bric does not want—Lady Eiselle. Bric is coerced into marriage; he must marry as his liege, Daveigh De Lohr, commands.
After being wounded in battle, the fearless, no emotional man who is feared as he cuts heads off on the battlefield, does the unthinkable. He runs. He’s confused. He isn’t able to understand his fear. He’s never been afraid. Is it because he has a wife and he is beginning to love her? Is she his weakness?
Lady Eiselle learns much about herself. She had been resigned to this marriage as most women are during this period in history. She finds inner-strength she knows not she has. The depth of love she finds with her warrior knight will just plain curl your toes and seal your fate!
You will experience a great love affair, shed tears of sorrow, and share the pain that Bric fears of swords and arrow. The story moves along with a fast-clip, secondary characters whom are friends of Bric support him and his wife is awesome in her support and love.
You will not be able to put this one down. I can’t wait until it comes out in audiobook. Le Veque’s books can be enjoyed over and over – so moving, so emotional and so inspiring.
High Warrior Sir Bric MacRohan is an Irish born knight who’s the Commander of Daveigh De Winter’s English army. He’s the one most aggressive and powerful knights in the realm. All of his friends are getting married and he has no plans to follow the suit, but one of his closest friends Dashiell Du Reims has other ideas. He tells Bric of his cousin whom he thinks would be the perfect match for him. Bric tells him no way!!! Daveigh receives a marriage proposal from Dashiell for his cousin to marry Bric, Daveigh knows there is no greater honor than to marry Dashiell’s cousin for Bric and accepts the marriage proposal. Lady Eiselle de Gael is the daughter of the bastard son of the Earls of East Anglia. Her father is a merchant and is ecstatic for his daughter to be marring the High Warrior linking his family to the famed de Winter’s. She is forced to marry de Winter’s greatest knight, but she wants to know if he wants to marry her. Eiselle is not quite what Bric expected and he unexpectedly finds himself drawn to her and agrees to the marriage. No more than a day after the wedding Bric is called into battle against the French the High Warrior leaves his good luck talisman with Eiselle to keep safe. Bric is severely wounded in battle barely making it home alive. Eiselle and the priest nurse him back to health. Their love blossoms and becomes a most endearing relationship that is strong enough to endure yet another battle with a battle worn husband coming home with PTSD. I loved this book, I laughed, I cried the story is amazing in the telling of history as Kathryn weaves this tale of hardened warrior and his sweet wife who learns to be strong and stand by her husband in times of self-doubt, battle fatigue and troubles. 5 STARS!!! This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.
Definitely 5++++Stars! Five stars is too little to award this unique story. It is deserving of many more stars. This is a unique tale of dealing with crippling issues of traumatic after-effects from battle that were seldomly talked about in the time period.
We witness the love of a woman who will do everything in her power to help her husband, while trying to understand the issues he is facing herself. We Stand front-and-center amongst a stay strong and loving Brotherhood. A brotherhood who does not abandon their fellow brother while he is in need and does not ask for help on his own.
Their love and loyalty is what draws me to this authors stories, for you feel this to the depths of your soul. You are touched and your heart is squeezed.
Bric MacRohan, an enormous silver-eyed Irish night who indoors a form of PTSD. Eiselle de Gael, a beautiful English woman who is set to be in an arranged marriage to the knight they call The High Warrior. A brotherhood of phenomenal distinguished Knights who band together for their fellow brother despite the tensing political climate. This is also definitely a love story that will tug at your heart and deliver a wonderful reading time for you.
I truly love the topics this author dives into and comes up with. High Warrior will truly grab your attention and fill you with all types of emotions. Emotions such as laughing out loud, empathy, admiration, hope and tenderness.
This story is definitely a winner for this author in my eyes. I can sincerely say it is a keeper for me that will remain in my personal Library for years to come. Pick the story up and you will really enjoy it!
Meski begitu dia ngotot gak mau menikah.
Love storynya so cute dan adorable. Proses Bric dan Eiselle jatuh cinta so sweet. Hangat gitu rasanya. Ga ada acara rahasia-rahasiaan atau salah paham kaya di novel-novel sejenis. Itu yang bikin saya suka. Epilognya juga heartwarming.
Sir Bric MacRohan has watched most of his contemporaries get married but he is the High Warrior, he spends his time fighting and killing. He enjoys it, there is no way a wife and family would fit into his life. He is related by marriage to the lord he is pledged to. Now that lord, wants an alliance with a neighbouring lord who has decided to "reward" Bric for saving his life with the hand of his cousin. Eiselle de Gael is only the daughter of a merchant, but she does have important relatives. Her father is delighted that his only child has made an advantageous marriage. Our heroine could not be more different to her betrothed. She has never lived around warriors, so when something tragic happens she has no idea how to help. Luckily for our hero, he is well loved by his brothers in arms. Battle fatigue was known but always looked on with a hint of shame. A very emotional story about an incredibly strong man facing something scarier than the enemy. Will the new love of his life be enough to save him? . You will feel just about every emotion while reading this book. There will be tears and laughter. Lots of intense love and understanding from the other characters for what our hero us going through. If like me you have read Kathryn's books before, you will certainly know the men involved. As usual I loved every page.
This is an exceptional story about a renowned knight named Bric. He is respected, revered actually, by all who know him, and those who fear him. As a relative to a man of high rank, and a descendant of a rather important family, Bric ends up marrying a beautiful young woman named Eiselle. As far as marriages went in that era, this was arranged for Bric, who had long said he would forever remain a bachelor. Well, forever is a long time, and sometimes life sends surprises. At first Bric is not enthralled with the idea, but the more he comes to know Eiselle, an only child of rather unhappy people,he finds he is happy. But life throws the two newlyweds a series of events that could break far lesser men and marriages, and Eiselle must rise to the challenges fate presents them. This is a story that could have ended in tragedy but for the insight and bond of a man with his friends and the encouragement of his partner. It is a medieval look at a situation that affects warriors of many types even today. This story is wonderful! It is filled with battle, friendship, heartbreak, and love. The descriptions of their lifestyle were so detailed that the narrative had me envisioning the castle, keep, and grounds. It was difficult to put down and thoroughly engrossing. I highly recommend to readers of historical romance who like plenty of action and romance with their hea.
Delightful & I could not put it down!! Another Le Veque success. This story was an emotional roller coaster! Laughs, tears, fear, sorrow, anxiousness...Pick any emotion and you will find it. This story touches on a concept that I have never read in a historical romance, but Le Veque wove it in her natural way and made an amazing story to give hope to the ages. Our heroin is an unlikely heroin, living a sheltered life until her cousin who adores her marries her off to the infamous High Warrior. Bric MacRohan is a formidable beast of a man, with honor and prestige, a mans man that noone in their right mind would want to cross. One of my favorite parts of the story was the knights who pop up in this story. Dashiell de Reims, Bently, Sean...So many and the comraderie and brotherhood is never more evident than in this story. Knights are honor bound and truly rely on one another for their very lives, the trust and admiration that comes from life time of that life is presented in an astounding way in this book and it makes the knights all the more swoon worthy if you ask me!! A great read, with a daringly amazing story line of battle weariness.... Major Kudos to Le Veque for taking on this story line and doing with all the decorum a High Warrior would deserve! A MUST read for all historical romance fans!!!
Genre: Historical Romance Tropes: arranged marriage, 1217 Medieval England, knight in shining armor, wounded warrior, PTSD, virgin FMC Spice: 2/5 a few mild scenes. Content Warnings: violence, mental health, PTSD POV: 3rd person POV, mostly from the FMC and MMC, but also from a few other characters Audiobook: narrated by a man
The High Warrior Bric, a notorious bachelor, is pledged to marry Lady Eiselle, who is related to a lord through one of her bastard parents. They meet and instantly love each other, despite 1. Bric being 100% against the marriage and 2. Eiselle assuming that her baseborn upbringing is undesirable. The union was just way too easy, in my opinion.
Shortly after their wedding, Bric and his forces are sent away to battle the French. There were some exciting battle scenes. Except there was a 70-day time jump that skipped the final campaign. I am not sure why the author chose to do that.
Bric is terribly wounded in one of the battles. The rest of the book revolves around Bric and his health and mental issues, and Eiselle doing everything she can to support his rehabilitation.
It is sweet how they care for each other. There is basically zero drama between the main characters. I appreciated the mental health issues and how Bric came back to himself. I was looking for more in this book.
I enjoyed High Warrior. Kathryn Le Veque rarely disappoints me and she did not with this new book. It is a good lead for the rest of the series that will follow. I probably have read almost all of her books at some point or another, not always in order and I have been known to go to the library and pulling all of a LeVeque series to binge read when I am in the mood for some Medieval Romance. How many of LeVeque's character families can be referenced in this book? I am pretty sure all of them! Medieval politics and clan strength were built thru marriages during an age where men were raised to be warriors and women raised to be bargaining chips, rewards and heir producers. This is how the story begins. However, it addresses several issues as it is read through...and I did feel emotional during parts of it. I am going to say Le Veque put her writing skills to good use. She invested the reader in what she had written. Very nicely done. A good story, good character development and a nice writing style made this a very enjoyable book to read. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine without outside influence
High Warrior has all the qualities of another amazing Kathryn Le Veque book. Once you start reading it, you won't be able to put it down. I've found with Kathryn Le Veque books, you are a captive audience to her story lines from beginning to end.
You will laugh, you will cry, you will tense and find yourself reading faster while sitting on the edge of your seat. You will come to a part of the story that will deeply test your emotions. You will learn to accept what transpires during this time period and how things were done back then.
The difference between High Warrior and the previous books that I have read of Kathryn Le Veques is, the main story line of High Warrior is PTSD/Battle fatigue.
You will feel Bric's suffering, doubts and the support of his family, friends and cohorts. You will experience their camaraderie.
You will travel this journey with Bric, learning how he dealt with the cause of his PTSD and/or Battle fatigue.
This is a book well worth reading. You will be glad you went on Bric's journey and some who read this book just might feel that they have been on a similar journey of their own.
Once the most aggressive, all-powerful knight in the realm, a great injury forces Bric to realize that he is, indeed, mortal. Though he recovers from the injury, it changes how he commands his men and how he handles himself in battle. Mentally, his is far more injured than he is, physically. Enter Lady Eiselle de Gael. The daughter of a bastard of the Earls of East Anglia, Ellison is used as a pawn by her ambitious father to secure an alliance with de Winter. She is forced to marry de Winter’s greatest knight in an unhappy circumstance. I Loved this book! I first read about Bric in Godspeed and when I found out that Bric was to have his own story I couldn’t wait to read it. There is so much I could say about Bric and Eiselle’s story, about the characters and how much I loved them about the story, but you definitely need to read this book. As I read this book I laughed out loud at times and I also had tears. This is such a heartfelt story. I don’t think I can express how much I loved reading this book.
This adventure tells the tale of true love found by a man who never wanted to have a wife, he only ever wanted to focus on being the High Warrior. But as this adventure unfolds it becomes the most emotional and endearing book. Yes, the book centres on the love story of Sir Bric MacRohan and beautiful Eiselle de Gael and it is really lovely, but it is the story behind this one that is most intriguing. When reading one of Kathryn's books, she takes through the awful description of war, but I think this is the first time that she has really delved into the Brotherhood of the Knights who fight with each other, live, eat and breathe with each other and love each other like brothers and family, there to help when necessary, it is this that makes this book so wonderful. One cannot imagine the true horrors of close combat, being brought up to fight and nothing else and all these wonderful men with their courage, life long friendships and camaraderie, which is in detail in this book, makes this a wonderful story. I loved it from start to finish!
I'm usually in awe when I read one of Kathryn Le Veque's books, and High Warrior did not disappoint. Kathryn has a way of writing a historical romance that goes beyond the romance element, delving into the relationships the main characters have with the secondary characters. In High Warrior, the story was about Bric's relationship with his wife, but it was also about his relationships with his fellow warriors. We readers got a chance to see men show valid, genuine emotions for Bric, who was struggling with PTSD, and we got to see how their love for him propelled them to help him. We also got to see a wife who was willing to do whatever it took to restore her husband's confidence in himself. And Le Veque validated that it was okay for a warrior, a hero to show true vulnerability; to show he's struggling and that he's fearful.
I really enjoyed this book. The main characters are really wonderful, the secondary characters are just as complex and enjoyable. The High Warrior and his struggles seem very real, the arranged marriage was well done and seemed realistic. The brotherhood of soldiers and aligned kingdoms was well done and the characters relationships were well defined. I thoroughly enjoyed the additional characters like the priest that comes to perform the wedding and stays, the young boy Royce, and Daveigh and his wife Keeva. The romance is sweet and made me smile, swoon, and root for the two right from the start. A definite 5-star story except for a long winded intro of battles, lands, and lineage in the beginning that I almost had to skip through, and some unfortunate death that really made me sad. Otherwise, despite this being a new genre for me, I would definitely like to read more!
Kathryn Le Veque does it again! This book has it all. Kathryn pulls you in hook, line, and sinker from the first paragraph to the very last word. She is truly one of a kind. This book is about a very fierce Irish knight named Sir Bric MacRohan who found out he is indeed mortal after receiving a great injury. He recovers but trains his men differently and is not the aggressive knight he once was in battle. Enter Lady Eiselle de Gael, who is his gifted wife as a reward to Bric for saving a mans life. The lady is resigned. He is less than pleased. He sees it more as a punishment. What neither of them expected was to fall in love. When the greatest swordsman gives up on himself due to battle fatigue, it’s up to Eiselle and those who love him to help the man regain his confidence to once again pick up his sword and do what he was meant to do. This is an amazing book.
WOW, WOW!! Every emotion that I have was felt while reading this book ! Every time I read a book that is written by Kathryn Le Veque , I think this one is the best. High Warrior is a GREAT BOOK to read. Bric MacRohan was known as the High Warrior. He is an Irish Knight and was part of his cousin Keeva’s dowry when she wed Daveigh de Winter. One of Bric’s best friend Dashiell du Reims, was wanting him to marry his cousin as a thank you for Bric saving his life. His cousin’s name was Lady Eiselle de Gael. Bric was so unhappy about having to marry that he tried to sneak off and leave. When he meets his intended his whole attitude changes. So much happens that it would be like writing a book. I highly recommend this book to be read!!
I really enjoyed reading High Warrior. It was a great story, and told about a problem that warriors can encounter after battle. I liked the way that Bric, the hero of the story, solved his problem with the help of his wife and friends. Usually in stories, the heroes never falter, which isn't really true. In real life, constant battle can lead to numerous mental problems for the soldiers and sometimes innocent victims of war. The characters were well developed and seemed like people that we might meet or even know. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and can't wait to read more stories about this family.
High Warrior, the first book in Kathryn LeVeque’s High Warriors of Rohan series, is wonderful. Sir Bric MacRohan, England’s high warrior, leads the de Winter war machine and has everything he wants. But when he saves the life of his best friend Dashiell Du Reims, he gifts him with his cousin Lady Eiselle de Gael as his wife. It was the very last thing he wanted, but the very thing that he needed and the love that grows between them is BEAUTIFUL beyond measure. The trials that Bric faces when wounded in battle are emotional beyond belief. But the love of a good woman and friends have a way of healing even the deepest of wounds and tribulations. This may have come one of my favorite stories!
A strong and dedicated warrior, Bric vows to never, ever marry. But, that was before Eiselle. Fighting the arranged marriage-yes, that is a must read scene-Bric is angry until he meets his bride to be. Beautiful, gracious and kind, Eiselle is everything and more his heart needs. She becomes his Champion, fighting for him when he can no longer do so. This book touched on a very difficult subject, but in a very real and loving manner. I laughed, cried, became angry and fell in love with both of them.
