This is one of the best autobiographies written in Hindi in recent years. Surender Mohan Pathak is the numero uno - the undisputed emperor - of Hindi crime fiction. Those who read him regularly, are well aware of the beauty of his language and in this book, it is at its peak. And the memoirs are so nostalgic and refreshing, be it early childhood days in Lahore, be it days at ancestral house at Batala, be it old Shahdara days or be it DAV Jalandhar, each one is a treat to read.
Grab this gem of a book at the earliest.

If you didn't read it, you are missing a piece of history.It is not only a must read for readers of Hindi crime in particular but also for book readers in general.It is a story of roller coaster ride of life of Surrender Mohan Pathak, the king of crime fiction in Hindi.
It all starts with his days in Lahore where he spent his childhood and ends up at Delhi where he is currently residing,going through memoirs of pain of partition , festivals,daily life of a middle class Punjabi family and his forays into field of fiction writing.It is a no holds barred account where nothing is left to imagination and even has racy account of his sexual escapades as a teenager sans graphic details.A really candid , forthright and in your face account of the life of a writer who has very fine tastes in dining and wining and exhibits very high standards in honesty so much so that he has frequent skirmishes with his father because of this.
The writer has unique style of narration ,very fluid and detailed ,having fair sprinkling of Punjabi,Urdu and English in between chaste Hindi.It gives you the entertainment of a very fast,pacy and suspenseful crime thriller and leaves you desiring for more.
In nutshell, a must read ,miss it at your own peril.

Amazing masterpiece from superb story teller
This is such refreshing and loving read. It hits you hard at times and takes you down memory lane connecting your own deeds of those days. It's amazing read. Wonderful that master story teller has given these lovely glimpses of his life. It needs great courage. Enjoyed every bit.

90's की पैदाइश होने के कारण मैं 60's 70's के दौर से ज्यादा relate नहीं कर पाया लेकिन SMPji के senior fans के लिए तो ये तोहफ़े से कम नहीं....
Writing style बेहद उम्दा है फिर पॉकेट बुक्स के पतन और घोस्ट राइटिंग के बारे में जानकार मजा आया 🥰🥰

बेहतरीन, जबरदस्त, साहित्य की महानतम कृतियों से होड़ लेने लायक ।।
रोमांच का धाराप्रवाह विस्फोट, एक रोलर कोस्टर राइड, जिसके शुरुआत से अंत तक असीमित भावनाओं और रसों की अनुभूतियों ने पाठक की देह से आत्मा का संपर्क तभी पुनर्स्थापित होने दिया जब पुस्तक क्रमशः पर समाप्त हुई।
