A suicide. A new hometown. A new beginning. That’s just what the Millers need after the death of their beloved daughter and twin sister, Haylie. But how can Jayde move forward when each night her nightmares take her back. Back to search for answers, to search for herself. Will she be strong enough to handle what she discovers?
This is a well-constructed tale of a Young Adult who moves with her parents from sunny, beachlife Australia to colder, foggy Tasmania. They are still near the sea, but the family needed a change of scenery. Our heroine has lost her twin sister, who seems to keep showing up in her dreams, not at rest. There's a new beach crowd to meet, a new potential boyfriend, new scenery for the photo artist to snap. But she can't relax, because no matter where you go, you find yourself. The story looks at some serious issues for mature teens and young twenties people. Themes like loss, depression, medication, alcohol, romantic relationships, and envy. I want to know, where are the horses of the title? Big disappointment that there are no horses. The story needs a final edit for typos but it's not too jarring. I read a Kindle version. This is an unbiased review.
I was really impressed with this novel! I got it on my kindle app for free, and it only had a couple reviews. I go into free kindle and nook books without much of an expectation , but this one really impressed me!! It is mainly a contemporary romance, with a some mystery. I loved the relationship with the characters and found them to be quite realistic. I kind of saw the ending coming in a way, but at the same time was still shocked. Overall, i would definitely recommend this book, and i mean it was free so not much to lose!
After a family tragedy, A set of parents, their daughter and dog move away. Dad still travels for work, but Mom and daughter stay there. The daughter has dreams. The person who passed away, was her twin sister. Trying to send a warning. Meanwhile, the remaining daughter falls in love. But Mom keeps hitting on her daughters boyfriend, and not the first time either. And life goes on.
Wow! Did not see this ending coming! Well developed story. I had some issues with the editing but some of it may have just been the Australian manner of speaking. It was an excellent book and a must read.
