As far as Liam Lamont's concerned, life sucks. His mate disappeared without a backward glance, he spends most of his time drunk and he has the worst case of blue balls in existence. Fighting his lion form is tiring and if it wasn't for his brother Lucien, and the rest of the pack at Ra's, he'd probably run off into the wilderness and never be seen again.
But even if life had thrown Liam a massive curve ball, the Fates hadn't forgotten him. One night a mysterious stranger offers to buy Liam a drink and Liam starts to feel a glimmer of hope. But Theo, the mate who walked away, is still lurking in Liam's heart and when faced with a second mate, Liam had no choice but to tell his new mate about Theo and give him a choice.
Beau Ferris had been told his whole life he would have two mates. All his kind did. His father warned him never to go after one until his pair already claimed each other. But when Beau's animal spirit warns him of Liam's despair and Theo's anger, he couldn't stay away. When he meets Liam he's given a shocking choice - Liam or Theo - he can't have both.
Stubborn shifters, a gorgeous fae toddler with magic flowing from her fingertips, demons, wolves, and even a visit from the Fates; Beau and Liam have to fight through fire before they get their third and the HEA they both dreamed of. But will it be enough.
Liam's Lament is the third book in the Arrowtown series. Reading the previous book in the series is advised to understand the context of this story.
This is a true mates M/M/M story with MPREG.
Warnings include graphic intimate scenes, violence, coarse language and love so sweet it will make your teeth ache.
Lisa Oliver had been writing non-fiction books for years when visions of half dressed, buff men started invading her dreams. Unable to resist the lure of her stories, Lisa decided to switch to fiction books, and now stories about her men clamor to get out from under her fingertips. When Lisa is not writing, she is usually reading with a cup of tea always at hand. Her grown children and grandchildren sometimes try and pry her away from the computer and have found that the best way to do it, is to promise her chocolate. Lisa will do anything for chocolate. Lisa Oliver is usually one of my favourite authors but for once her magic didn't seem to work for me with this book. I never really felt the bond between the three MC's. Beau was a bit on again, off again and I never warmed to him. Liam was definitely a big pussy cat and I loved his character. Not sure whether I will carry on with this series. 3.5 stars
I found this one to be probably the best of the series so far. Liam is a beautiful soul and his character was well portrayed. I was worried how the Theo storyline was going to handled, as it was going to be a hard sell to redeem him after his actions in the last book but I was happy with the resolution. I enjoyed Beau as a character and liked that he was conscious of mistakes he made and tried to fix them. I did feel that the ending was kind of rushed. It felt like there was a big build up, dealing with Theo and with Liam and Beau bonding and then waiting and looking for their third, and it felt like with all this work once they met him it kind of just rushed through and it was the end. It made the third person to me feel like an afterthought and didn’t give his character a chance to really shine. I still enjoyed it and will definitely continue on with the series Looking forward to Joe and Doc’s book
Liam was a great character. He was strong, loyal, and compassionate. Beau was an arrogant jerk. Unbelievable that he was really bisexual and was attracted to men. Unforgivable that he didn’t want his pregnancy and unborn child. Beau was inconsistent. He was dominating with some and subordinate with others. He would emotionally support Liam and then suddenly let him down. He did save Liam's life but that didn't balance out his fickle behavior. Beau was the weak link in the triad. Throwing Trent in as the replacement mate for Theo was anticlimatic. It was far fetched because he and Liam had been just acquaintances before the fates made them mates. Trent was likable, sexy, and a take charge personality. He and Liam had great chemistry together. Overall, the book suffered from an absurd story and a flaky MC in a weak menage relationship.
Rating: 4.5 stars A friend lent me her copy of this book and I’m glad she did because I hadn’t realized that Ms. Oliver had written another addition to the Arrowtown series. I absolutely loved this addition. I wasn’t sure when I started reading where the author was going to take this mating, but I was happy with how the mating turned out in the end. Liam, I loved. You couldn’t help but feel for him and the position he found himself in.
While I liked Beau as an MC, there were times that I waffled between loving him and disliking him. A couple of the actions he pulled really put me off his character somewhat. The third mate in this ménage turned out great in the end and as I said previously, I was happy with the direction Ms. Oliver took.
If you are a fan of the Arrowtown series, I highly recommend this addition. If you haven’t read any of the other books in the series, I would recommend doing so before starting this one. At the very least, read the book prior as the events in that book greatly affect the events in this one.
The book was outstanding. Although when I was reading it I was wondering how Ms Oliver was going to redeem Theo. I mean he was so awful. And the way he treated people was horrible. I did not expect Beau and Liam to be given another mate but this was the best solution for this situation. I was a little stumped over Beau's reaction about their first ultrasound because that was a stupid reaction from a 150-year old paranormal. But I guess everyone reacts differently to events that happen to them.
Overall the book was wonderful. Couldn't put it down. I read in a comment that the third mate Trent seemed like an afterthought and that was why I waited to read this book for so long. I didn't like that aspect but yesterday decided to read myself and I don't think he was an afterthought at all. Since his appearance in the book albeit a little late he was as central as the the other two - Beau and Liam, in some moments even more crucial. So don't be stopped by comments. In fact, I would suggest you don't read them before you read the book. I wish I didn't. Just read the book and form your own opinion - either bad or good. It's all very subjective. What might be a good read for some might be bad for others.

Liam’s Lament by author Lisa Oliver is the third book in Arrow Town series. This book should be read in order. Will help you understand the world much better. This story starts out with a little from Snake Snack so you know how this book ties in with that book. Which is another reason you really need to read these stories in order. Beau : he is a phoenix shifter. They always get two mates. Beau himself is a little naïve about how things work. He thinks that his mates will want to be together no matter what. Liam: he is upset. He doesn’t know he has two mates. Till he meets Beau. But has met the man who thinks he is their third. He is an evil man. And someone who has done great harm to him and his friends. Theodore: corrupt and evil. Mean has no real feelings. What do you do when one of your mates is pure evil?
This story is fast paced but truly an emotional read. I liked this one of the best in the Arrow Town series so far. Has lots of depth, a great ending, and unforgettable characters I loved. I cannot wait for more from this great series in the future.
Wow! This is the first book that I've read that featured a Phoenix shifter and I'm totally hooked. There were so many twists and turns throughout the story and definitely a fair amount of angst but the last part absolutely pulled everything into the "Awww" realm! I loved Liam and Lucian from the first two books and I'm so happy that they both got their hard earned HEA. Beau is intriguing as our Phoenix shifter and then the addition of their third in ... Well, I don't want to spoil anything but it really was perfect. I'm ready to dive into the 4th book and excited to find out who will be next to get steered by the whims of the Fates towards their mate. Or mates, as the case may be. Lisa Oliver is one of my favorite authors and I am thrilled to add this series to the long list of books by her that I love! Totally recommend these books!
This particular series just tends to fall flat for me. Everything is really overdrawn and constantly full of angst and the relationships just spend their time getting put through the ringer rather than actually build anything meaningful.
Really, this particular installment just seemed to feel desperate to create more drama, moving from one catastrophe to the next. It all started with a mating that was unusually impossible with a pairing that just felt cruel and horrible for all involved. It was fixed surprisingly easily but of course that didn't mean things were okay, it quickly transitioned to the next dramatic problem. Then, when that is fixed, suddenly something that had been not a problem at all becomes a huge problem. It was endless and the book just trips along between the things while dragging its characters with it. Not really enjoyable and just something I read to finish.
2.5 stars I'm not saying didn't deserve to be but seriously??? Replacing him near the end of the novel is just disappointing. Idk, Beau and Liam honestly would've been fine since if Beau's dad lost a mate and still carried on with life, why can't they?
The main characters, especially Beau, felt so under-developed that it's painful. The whole story's just absured, in my opinion. Good if you guys enjoyed it, but it's a hard no for me.
Remember though, we all have different opinions, so maybe people would enjoy this book more than I did!
I definitly didn't epect the story to turn out that way but i have to say i am efinitly really happy about it!! I was a GREAT idea!! That being said a few of Beau's decision annoyed me and he ended up hurting Liam twice plus i would have wanted more information and development for the character of Trent
This one just did not do much for me. I adored Liam, but Beau was not very likable at the beginning and only improved a little as the book went on. He did a lot of stomping of feet and whining when things did not go exactly as he wanted. He tended to treat Liam more like an idea instead of the man standing in front of him and his reaction to the They may have been fated mates, but Liam deserved better. The 3rd mate that was promised throughout the book shows up in the last few chapters and was little more than a sex toy.
Theo Western is a lion shifter who is obsessed with Simon an already mated shifter. Theo kidnaps Simon and when his friends rescue him Liam another lion shifter keeps his friends from killing Theo because he realizes they are mates. Theo walks off rejecting Liam who goes into a real funk missing his mate for the next month. Enter Beau, a phoenix shifter who has two mates, Liam and Theo. We have demon possession, witches, cruelty, death and rebirth and real death, even a visit by the Fates themselves. There is so much more to this exciting book with lots of danger love and mpreg. Great addition to the series.
I loved this book. The story was different from other paranormal stories. The mating conflict was unique and surprised me despite being an avid fan of paranormal books and Lisa's books in particular. I highly recommend Liam's Lament to all readers who like paranormal or shifter stories. The entire Arrowtown series is good but they just keep getting better. If you haven't had the opportunity to read any of Lisa Oliver's books, take the time. You won't be sorry.
What an unexpected surprise this book turned out to be. I thought it was going to go a certain way, and was a little disappointed when it didn’t, but I really shouldn’t have misjudged this authors imagination because the outcome was absolutely brilliant. Arrowtown is fast becoming my favourite series from this author; there is just so many different characters she can utilise. I’m so excited for the next book! I’d recommend this book to anyone who loves it when authors turn their world upside down is a really good way.
Oh my goodness! I don't even know what to say to describe this book. I started off being so sad but then my heart became overflowed with joy and happiness. I loved this book so much and I wouldn't have changed it for anything. I can't wait for the next book and I love this author so much. She truly is amazing and does fantastic work!! I just loved this book so much!!!
Wow! I knew something was wrong with Theo, but didn't guess it was what it was. Beau was a surprise. I loved how he just went with what, he knew was his mate. I don't get any of the fathers of this series. They all just turn away from their children's like a bunch of idiots. Who in the end need the sons they threw away. Trent made me fall in love with him right from the start. That baby is lucky. I can't wait for the next book.
I really like this author and thoroughly enjoy all her series of books and this series is no exception.
This story is about Liam a lion shifter who's mate is the very evil Trent who we met in the previous book in this series. Beau is a Phoenix who is destined to have two mates and Liam is one of them so is Trent. When Trent does the unthinkable the Fates step in and grant Liam and Beau a new mate but they haven't met him yet.
If you haven't read anything of Lisa's books then start!! You can read as a standalone but I would recommend starting at the beginning as characters intertwine. The whole story grips you from start to finish there is so much emotion, love and angst between the characters that you found yourself laughing, crying and shouting. Even though it is mpreg it doesn't go into to much but its more than with the emotions involved. Definitely won't be disappointed.
Not that I mean I liked it because I love Lisa Oliver books and look for them every week. I new Theo was suppose to be in this one and already hated him, so I thought it a wonderful surprise in how she turned this one around. Such an unusual approach from most. I gave her all 5 stars because off her wonderful story the people I fell in love with from book one, and the spectacular twist!
I have enjoyed every book by Lisa Oliver and this one was everything i expected from Lisa. Very well written, even enjoyed the twist\turn of events that had me wondering before it happened.
If you are a fan of shifter & mpreg then you will enjoy this. I will admit that up until this series i wasn't a fan of mpreg but huge fan of shifter but Lisa has made it work. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did
Another well plotted adventurous romance in this great series. Beau has been told all his life not to go to meet his mates (Phoenix always have two of them) until they have meet and mated. Whoops! Well that didn’t happen did it? Things are going to get a little bit bumpy from here on. Those bumps make for a great story. You’ll enjoy it completely if you’re like me.
This book was much anticipated, and I'm so glad it lived up to the expectations I had. Poor Liam, my heart hurt for him. I'm so thankful that Lisa's talent gave us this story, and not only did Liam get his much deserved HEA, he got it in spectacular fashion. Can't wait to see what comes next for Arrowtown.
I didn't love the beginning or middle of the book. Theo was vile. I do like that Noah and Lucien finally figured their feelings out. I was hoping to Read another Northern States story with Newton and Tron being mates but I guess that series is on the back shelf. I do enjoy this author's work but I don't know the whole vileness of Theo was off putting.
You ended up feeling for Liam in Snake Snack. And throughout this book you teared, cheered, and wanted to give out hugs before you reached then end and wanted more. This is another awesome book by Lisa Oliver, but how does she keep turning out great book after great book? I recommend this as a must read!
The Arrowtown series is a more lighthearted series than Cloverleah but Lisas paranormal stories are awesome. Liam found his mate in the previous story but was rejected. Dealing with his heartbreak by drinking, he is overwhelmed by meeting another mate. The fates have blessed Liam by sending him two.
Liam had met his mate in the last book and I had wondered how the author would get this HEA. Well, all I can say is holy cow!!!! The twists and curves will keep you guessing but I can almost guarantee that you’ll never guess. Read this book!!!!!
