Wish Spelling/Grammar was an Option

The story premise was good, with a great blend of characters, BUT it had to be the poorest writing on record. Someone seriously needs to pull it, proofread it, and then let the public read it. It’s rather mind boggling that someone can conceive a decent storyline, but doesn’t credit the reader with the ability to read.

Overall, I've read some other books from this author that was way better. I'm a bit disappointed by these books. Brianna's character was too whiny, always negative, and didn't give herself enough credit to be able to be strong for her magic she has. I don't like reading about how someone thinking lip rings are sexy. Sorry that turns me off big time. Gross! Gavin's character was great! Always there to help Brianna and doing his best to find ways to help her with her magic.
The grammar, repeated words and words mixed up in sentences words were very distracting and annoying. I would say go through this book series again and edited it big time. This is why I give it 3 stars and that's being generous.

Luminensce
Giving this 3 stars because of the repeated words in sentences and some words missing in sentences. With the words missing, it makes you have to re-read the sentence over again and put in the missing word or words. Besides these issues it is a good book.
Brianna is a normal girl at least she thinks she is. At the same time feels like she's different. She has these vivid dreams of a teenage boy named Lukas.
Gavin moved in to town with his family. The family has a secret. His family are witches.

Amethyst Tears
3 stars because of grammar mistakes. In a way this feels like Twilight. This story people and magic not vampire and werewolf. I'm probably going to get snard remarks from people but I'm not into reading about a gay guy who is her friend. At least he's not too much in the story and only in the book a few times.
Brianna is having a hard time with Lukas popping up in her dreams as she's dreamscaping with her magic that's she didn't know she's doing. Also wanted to be Gavin's girlfriend and he isn't happy finding out she is dreaming about another guy.
I'm still reading these books because I'm curious about Brianna's magic and why everyone wants to attack her. Also, where the black magic is coming from she doesn't know where it came from. Morgana is her many greats great grandma and how they keep dreamscaping since she's dead.

Moondust
I can't give these books more than a 3 star rating. The grammar is annoying. Brianna is annoying to read with all her negative thinking about herself and what's going on. I get it yes some teenager girls and women can go crazy with thoughts running through the brains about everything. Do we need to really read about it? Ugh. I also wasn't happy when I read an f-bomb in the story. My preference I don't like to have in stories. You can use better writing than putting in those words.
Anyways, beyond most of the book with Brianna complaining, being a horrible friend, keeping her secrets to herself and not sharing with her friends and Aunt about what's going on with her. It was an ok book. Her friends found out about her being a witch when some witches attacked her because of her incredible powers she has. Her Aunt knew all along she was a witch. Oops I'm probably sharing spoilers.
This book with Brianna, Gavin and Luka, it felt like Twilight all over again. I'm glad Brianna picked the right one to help her through all this magic mess and relationships. I'm also glad I'm done reading this book. The next one is really short so let's see what it has in it. Hopefully I don't waste my time.

Darkmist
Short story to read. The other books could have been this quick and would have been better. The other books dragged on.

I have a couple of issues with this trilogy.

1. Unrealistic teenage voice. The author made the characters say things that had me cringing. Both in terms of stuff young people don't really say (overly formal, detailed, etc.) and in terms of awkward narration (the protagonist using awkward terms and at times thinking/narrating like a child).
2. Typos/mistakes in verb tense. There were A LOT of these that ended up detracting from the book and the reading. The mistakes in verb tenses were especially annoying and at parts there were words left out or even misspelled.
3. Storyline mistakes. These were also very present. An example is when, in the bonus story I think, the protagonist says she These inconsistencies were quite annoying.
4. Unnecessary secretive behaviour of the protagonist. She would tell literally nothing to Gavin and withhold information that wasn't even that special. It was really irritating because Gavin seemed to be open with her while she gave back dishonesty.
5. Protagonist that couldn't figure anything out. Honestly, right from the beginning it was obvious that
6. Jealousy being portrayed as positive. In the bonus story, there is a scene where Brianna (the protagonist) gets jealous because another girl is hitting on her boyfriend. What does she do? She fights with the girl, throwing a drink in her face before moving on to a physical fight. What does her boyfriend Gavin do when he finds out she fought with the girl over jealousy? Tell her he loves her. He thinks the fact that her jealousy led her to fight the girl is a form of proof of her feelings for him. Honestly, ridiculous.

Aside from all that, the book is ok. I wanted to drop it multiple times throughout the reading but I didn't, so I guess that means something (though it probably only means that I was bored and had nothing else to read so I pushed on). I intended on reading other books by this author before Luminescence, because they write the kind of books I love, but now I'm not sure I will.

I really liked this series. Brianna was a character that i felt like I could relate to. She was down to earth, kind, compassionate, overall a decently written character. Gavin was your typical YA hero. Super hot new guy. I mean super hot guys, no one can even compare to him, how can someone so hot even exist (ugh) I get that most YA stories have a super hot "new" guy in them, but I just really wish that series like this didn't focus soooo much on that aspect. Like we get it, he's SUPER HOT, and he falls for someone who feels like they shouldn't ever get him, he's too good for them. blah blah..got it, move along with the story.

The magic aspect in this series to me just seemed weak to some degree. I get that this girl is going through finding out she's a witch and she comes into her powers, but to me it seemed like most of the book was focused on how awful she felt about her life. She cried all the time, she spent most of the book locked up in her room sobbing into her pillows.

The scenes with her besties Austin and Tori, kinda just seemed thrown in there to add a few characters. I get they were her best friends and she was just so engaged with Gavin that she didn't have a lot of time with them, but I dunno, i just think there could have been more with them. More interaction that would make me feel like she would do anything for them and vice versa.

I kinda figured out early on in this series that Lukas was going to be the bad guy. It wasn't that hard to figure it out. I briefly thought when we were introduced to grandma morgana that it may be here when she tried to take control of Brianna and then shot at gavin, but you quickly see that she is there to help Bri, not hurt her.

Like I said, overall i thought this was a good easy book to read. i had just come off a really deep and indepth read and this was a nice reprieve from that.

Great story!!!

Loved the characters, the story line and of course the magic!
Biggest problem, hence the 3 stars was the numerous grammar errors. Making sentences missing words or humbled ... There were so many!
What happened to proof readers??!? If you did have them, they did a horrible job. Sorry, just being honest and this was in the entire trilogy!

But loved the story, the characters were easy to love and your imagination is amazing!!!

I would definitely have this series proof read and corrected!!!
It didn't deter, much from the story itself, just thought you'd like to know that there are a lot of grammar errors!
Would highly recommend this author, also have read some other series and they were great.
5 stars for story!
2 stars for grammar errors!!
But an amazingly easy gun read with lots of imagination!!

Ooh Witchy

I gotta say that I love this series.. Bri and Gavin were just the perfect hot couple with a relationship filled with unusual problems.. I was just a little worried there for a while that Bri was gonna mess up the good thing she had going with Mr. Sexy as hell Gavin, but I guess I shouldn’t of worried because Gavin knew what he wanted and he didn’t let go.. The story was so good and had just the right amount of mystery that it kept me hooked and wanting more! The only problem I had with these books were all the typos, but it wasn’t to big of a problem, because the books were still awesome!

I can't keep reading anymore, I just can't. I usually try to finish every book that I start but sometimes it's just too much work. 3rd book and there was just nothing happening... Lusting after the boy, can't decide which boy, strawberry lip gloss and mascara, lusting after the hot boy, can't decide which boy, strawberry lip gloss... 3 books.
I tried, I really did try.
It's a pity really because witches are a great theme and the story could gave been awesome if something actually happened in it.

Good story, drawn out

I loved the concept of this book but felt that the plot was very drawn out. It took a long tims.to get where it was going. Some characters had deeper substance than others that were just as important to the book. And a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes. Otherwise I would recommend it for the fun of reading, the different aspect of magic and how it wielded.

I have read a few Weil’s books and found them to be a fun adventure. While the potential for this storyline was interesting. Tori, Austin and Sophie were great comic relief; and Gavin was a saint. However, Bri’s erratic behavior, inability to listen and indecision was extremely annoying even for a teenager.

Loved this collection <3

I really enjoyed reading this collection of books. It has great characters (I love that Gavin), and the witchy fun stays true to the end of the set. I'd recommend this series for fans of YA PNR and witches.

Good Story....

I enjoyed the story as a whole. The issue was that there were many typos, misused words and inappropriately placed punctuation that made reading it a little bit of a chore, otherwise I would have rated it higher.

Pretty good series. Kept me entertained

This is a teen series. I'd rate it 13 and up. It's about witches and young love with problems. J. L. Weil can weave a story that does suck you in...and there's that but...her writing seems just like what it is. Good stories for young girls.

Good quick read

This book was very fun to read , I read all three books in about 2 days. The story is cute but there are a hand full of typos but nothing major. Another wonderful series. Not as good as the raven series but still good.

A world to get lost too

The series catches you from the beginning and hold tight to the end. Read the series in 2 days, once I started I couldn't put it down. And sad that it had ended.

😶

Compared to the Divisa series, Raven series and Beauty Never Dies series this one is very disappointing. I found it lacking in excitement and it didn't have much to the story line.

Good Read

I couldn't put the book down it was a good read I was able to read the whole series in two weeks or a little less, I just wish the series was longer I felt like you were just starting to get to know the characters and then the book was over.

:-)

I enjoyed the story very much my only wish is that there was more to it. Maybe more drama or magic or more to the romance aspect.

The collection through out has a lot of spelling and grammar problems. It bugged me the whole time. It was way to easy to put together what you were reading as a lead up to the future.

Great series

The series was amazing and left me enthralled all the way through until the end. However, there were numerous typos and grammatical errors throughout all four books.

I love just about All .J.L.Wells books but this one just did not do it for me it was cute but to much drama for me (it was good till about the end when he finds out that she has been sharing her dreams and she did not even know it was not right ) and he !ad e a big deal about it (I mean I get it but come on cut her some slack ) but if it had been a little bit different i might have liked it more
