LONDON 1600. Though Queen Elizabeth has ordered the Earl of Essex’s release from confinement, she’s thwarted his return to social and military grace by barring him from court for an indefinite term. Unsatisfied with this humiliation, the Queen considers whether to cut off his sole remaining income, as well. Noah Ames strongly advises against it on grounds that the Queen will thereby lose any remaining influence over Essex’s conduct and also place him in desperate financial straits. When several seemingly unrelated men are found murdered, Noah begins to suspect that such murders reveal Essex’s treasonous intention to return to court in bloody defiance of the Queen’s order.
All the Men as Mad as He continues the story of Noah Ames as he navigates the machinations of life under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
Neal Roberts writes a gripping story of murder, mayhem and treason with his usual flare. You are drawn into the daily lives of the Ames family as they negotiate the perils of the interesting times they live in.
I am very much looking forward to the next instalment.
Although the Queen has had Essex released in this year of 1600 will he have learnt contrition for his previous actions and now behave. When two men, who seem to have no connection to each other, are found dead, Noah begins to suspect that it is somehow related to Essex and possible treason. Another enjoyable and interesting mystery in this well-written series.
All the books in this series are awesome. This one is as well. Full of interesting characters, intrigue and humor this is a MUST read for lovers of historical fiction!
