I don’t have long left. I can feel myself changing. And to think I used to be such a good girl.
Things were different when I, Melody Freeman, first came to Meridian University, studying hard by day while I played my guitar at night. One way or the other I would be a success. But recently I’ve lost my focus. I’ve been playing a different tune.
I blame Rachel. As much as I love that girl, she’s such a bad influence on me. Making me go out every night partying, drinking, meeting guys… meeting vampires.
That’s the only explanation I have for the marks on my neck, the changes I’m seeing in me, the thirst I’m feeling. So now I’ve got to work out how I undo this, how I get this virus out of my blood.
And quick. Before the sun rises. Before the city vampire slayers discover what I’ve become. I know they're out for blood...
Broken Melody is the thrilling vampire book your parents warned you about. For fans of Twilight and Vampire Diaries who have the thirst for a more twisted fang-filled experience.
*** This book features strong language and adult material. Strictly for mature readers with a strong stomach! ***
This book tries hard to be all things to all people. To many ingredients ruin a soup, likewise this story pulls in a lot of side tangents that it muddles the main plot. The witty banter isn't even witty. Don't waste the time. This was very close to DNF book.
This full-action book is refreshingly British. Melody isn’t the kind of character you want to fully identify with but secretly you get her, you’ve been her, and you still hanker after her zest for life. Kiel has created a seedy underground world within a fictional, albeit typically British, city and filled it with mysterious paranormal creatures and regular human lowlifes. The story is a journey where Melody’s life remains precariously balanced but that doesn’t stop her on her quest. This novel is darkly funny, intriguing, and strangely emotional. The cover really suits the book and I hope Kiel creates some kind of series out of this standalone story because the characters are desperate to come out to play.
I just....didn't get it. It read like the author just threw some ideas down without deciding to write a coherent story. It felt like if just walked into a cinema twenty minutes into the film, and just can't catch up with the plot.
A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
Main charactors are a bit vapid, or barely fleshed out. Some dangling threads, ending is clearly set for a sequel. I would have preferred more story here.
