Empowering, inspiring and full of badass Buffy attitude, this little book is packed with the Chosen One’s awesome words of wisdom and killer advice. Whether you’re fighting vampires and saving the world, or not, life can get tough. And when it gets tough, you need to slay, the Buffy way.
So, whether you’re dealing with heartache or homework, family drama, bad bosses, anxiety over what to wear, unreliable BFFs or a full-on existential crisis, Buffy has it covered. She’ll guide you through the Hellmouth and out the other side. Because, she’s been there.
I love the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, I can watch it over and over again and never get bored. This book was a lovely reminder of some of the best quotes from the show, nicely set with screen shots and promotional pictures from the show.
Just made me smile and I am very happy to have it on my bookshelf :)
What an incredibly disappointing book!! I’m a life long Buffy fan and was looking forward to something a little different. The Quotable Slayer is one of my fav Buffy related books aside from the Watchers guides so I was assuming this would be somewhat similar. And it is - in that it contains quotes from the show. That’s where the comparison ends. I read at least three inaccurate quotes. The pictures accompanying each quote weren’t from the same episodes (often not even the same SEASON) making it very mismatched and poorly put together. For some reason each quote was typed as the episode number then season number which, yes I know picky, read wrong. It took me about five minutes to read the whole thing. It was seemingly separated into ‘sections’ or some sort of chapters but they didn’t have any real connection. Majorly important/well known quotes were either shortened to a few words or missed out entirely. I’m glad I own the book, it adds to my ever growing collection, plus the hard back and cover art was nice, and that’s the sole reason it got two stars. But if you’re a Buffy aficionado, avoid this like the plaque
How To Slay The Buffy Way was a quick read, and it threw me back into the '90s when I couldn't wait for the next episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. This little book has just a few of the fantastic quotes that came from the show. It's full of nostalgia and awesomeness. This is the perfect book for any hardcore Buffy fan!
Pictures & quotes from the show. Cute little book. One of the pages had Giles spelled incorrectly and it bothered me way more that it should, but I feel like someone should have caught it 😂
A small selection of iconic quotes from Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.
What I liked - The style of the book is the biggest draw here. It’s very bright and eye catching and the effects on the pictures are very affective and certainly go for a 90s vibe.
What I disliked - My biggest gripe is the way the episodes are listed. Typically people will write ‘episode 6, season 5’ but here they always list the quotes with ‘episode 22, season 5’ and it’s just odd.
While marketed as "full of feminist attitude, wisdom, and killer advice", this book is literally just quotes from the show along with pictures. There are some great quotes, but it's not much more than a coffee table book for die-hard Buffy fans.
Some of the quotes were helpful and inspiring reminders ("Sometimes the most adult thing you can do is ask for help when you need it."), while others (while funny) weren't really that relevant for every day life ("Thank god we're hot chicks with superpowers.").
Overall, okay book. It does make me want to re-watch all of the seasons of Buffy, so there is that.
the pictures and the design is really aesthetically pleasing, so kudos for that. but the actual quotes were a bit disappointing. there are so many amazing and genius and badass quotes in btvs and some of the ones they picked are really lame in comparison. thank you emily voller for the design! but liz marvin could've done better
