Rate this book

Love how it goes from past to present, you can start piecing the other books together.Tim O'rourke sure is a writing genius,he has a crazy mind lol. This whole series is put together better than even a spiders web , so much weaving and turning you never know which way its going to go. I am even going to start all over from the very first book, as i know there is so much which i probably missed. This author never keeps his fans waiting for long before he has another book to grip us. How he manages i can't imagine, truly amazing mind.

AS always, 5 heart Pounding Stars!!!!

Yes!!!!!!!! Halleluiah ! We finally know who the photographer is!!! Us die hard fans have been waiting a long time to find out this little morsel. I am curious to know how many fans guessed correctly. I'm thinking not to many. Tim has a way of fooling us all.

I loved the fact that there was a lot of interaction between Potter and Kayla in this addition. Potter was his usual smart-assy self and Kayla gave him a run for his money. Kayla's character has grown immensely since she popped into the series. Her and Potter have a brotherly/sisterly kind of relationship that I love reading about.

"What, you spend a lot of time hanging out in morgues swinging your dick, do you?" I said. Jesus, Potter, I thought sniffing old women's knickers was bad, but necrophilia takes the fucking piss." - Kayla

I was also thrilled to be back in Isidor's head. I missed him so much. He is so loving and kind, but a fierce warrior. If he wasn't so much younger than me, I would have a major crush on him.

" I could search for a thousand lifetimes and still never find the right words to describe how beautiful a person Melody Rose was." - Isidorable

I must say that I did get a little lost while reading Dead Lost. I'm sure that was Tim's intention. He loves to get the reader all twisted around to later reveal answers to all of the questions we gain throughout the book. As the story moves along, everything became much clearer. I found myself saying, "Oh! Now I get it", quite alot . I just can not comprehend how Tim is able to weave these crazy events, circumstances, lives, ect.. and tie everything up in a nice little bow in the end. Its freaking amazing! As always, there is a major cliff hanger that left me screaming and searching for a magical page in hopes of finding what is to come, but of course it never appeared. The words "To be continued in 'Dead End' - The final book in the Kiera Hudson Series Two . Coming Soon" stared back at me. I just know that 'Dead End' is going to go out with a BANG! I.CAN.NOT.WAIT!!!!!!!!!

***** 5-this series is gonna be the death of me- Stars

~this review contains spoilers from previous books~

“You can kill me, but my death won't change what's coming.”

Brilliant! Evil, twisted, bloody, heart-stopping GENIUS!! In short, that's Tim O'Rourke for me. This man can do no wrong in my eyes. He drags you into his world kicking and screaming, knowing all kinds of trouble lies ahead and immerses you so completely you feel like a different person at the end, fumbling around blindly not having a clue what to do next. He terrifies me like no other, scared to turn the page but unable to help myself, laughing one minute-crying and or cringing the next, try not to get too attached to any of the characters (good luck with that) because he will just rip your heart out when he kills them off if they betray you.....I'm sending dear Mr. O'Rourke my shrink bills, he will absolutely drive me bat-shit crazy but I will love every friggin minute of it. As per usual with his books, my review is gonna be short and sweet. There are just too many twists, turns & surprises, ANYTHING I say could very well spoil the story and these books just have to be lived as they come. I had to suffer, you should too ;)

Potter wasn't meant to be interacting with this Kiera, but just like it always did, Potter's dick had gotten in the way again. Would he ever learn? Not while there were beautiful women in this world like Kiera.

Dead Lost is our next stop on this terrifying speeding train known as the Kiera Hudson Series. We pick up right where Dead Push leaves us and Potter is facing off with The Photographer who has just killed the other Kiera.

Potter glanced up at me, my face still hidden by the hood.

“You shot her!' he screamed. “You killed her!”

Slowly, I pulled back the hood.

“No!” he gasped, at seeing my face. “Why did you have to kill Kiera?”

“To save your life, Potter.”

The damn elusive, mysterious photographer reveals themselves to Potter, but will we learn who it is? You will have to read this to find out, 'cause I'm not tellin! While Potter ventures off with The Photographer to deliver some photos and get some answers, our beloved Isidor and the man who screws with my head, AKA Jack Seth, are at the Great Western Railway Station having a moment of their own....

“What's Happening?” I gasped as he started to change shape and size before me. But Jack wasn't changing into a wolf like I had seen him do so many times before, he was becoming me.

“I'm saving your fucking life, that's what's happening,” he panted. He shook violently as his emaciated face started to contort until it looked like mine. “Jeezus, Isidor, your head really is full of dumb fucking ideas.”

“Why are you doing this?”

“Because I want you to go and find your friend, Melody Rose. She'll be waiting for you, trust me.”

Isidor goes off in search of Melody and stumbles across a town where babies are being snatched in the middle of the night by what the town believes to be 'winged creatures' marking him as a potential suspect if he were to be discovered. As Potter and Isidor are off on their own missions to push the world back they start to notice some disturbing changes taking place, cracks are starting to form in the sky as well as the ground. What does it mean? Why is it happening?? Is it a good thing, or are things about to get a whole lot worse???

I stood in the opening and stared up at the night sky. Looking upwards, mouth open, I wondered whether Jack had done some damage to this pushed world.

“What have you done, Jack Seth?” I breathed, staring up at what looked like faint cracks appearing in the night sky.

Once again Tim O'Rourke takes us on a ride you won't soon forget, all leading up to what I'm sure will be an explosive and epic finale. I'm equal parts terrified and excited. We've been through so much with these characters, I feel just as invested in the outcome as they are. I want to take up camp in O'Rourke's head and never, ever leave.

And now, I'm going to leave you with what I like to call 'Fun with Potter'....

He would soon get over it – he always did. Sure, he would bitch and complain, that was another of his talents as well as having his brains in his bollocks, but Potter would heal.

Another jealous Kiera, I thought. These pushed worlds really were mirror images of each other. How does one guy manage to piss off the same woman in two different wheres and whens? Only Potter could do that.

“Fuck me, it looks like an 80's boy-band reunion. No, on second thought, let's make that the 70's.”

“Always the wise guy”

I do love that man

I’ve waited so very long to know who the photographer is, and I finally have my answer. And of course, I never ever would have guessed it is who it is. Once again, O’Rourke has floored me and left me speechless with his amazing plot twists and I am in awe of his sheer writing genius.

With the revelation in book seven, Dead Push, that time travel is possible, readers will be delighted to see just how this time change has been working out for our heroes Potter and Isidor, especially as the truth behind Kayla and Sam’s disappearance in book five, Dead Wolf, finally comes to light. Heroes on their way to change the world, or pawns unknowingly doing the bidding of their mortal enemy? The truth awaits those who dare to be consumed by the awesomeness that is Dead Lost.
And I can’t say much more than that without giving away any of the secrets within this novel.

Dead Lost is the eighth in this second Kiera Hudson series, and at this point, it really cannot be read without having read all the others. O’Rourke creates such an intricate web, and the idea of the pushed world, especially with the revelation of the photographer, has become so much more complicated that readers jumping in at this point without an anchor in the texts would be dually lost. And that’s one of the many reasons why I love this set of series so much. O’Rourke has made me fall in love with every single character, both the good and the bad, through extensive characterization and world building—they have become a wonderful part of my life. The ideas are so creative and well written that I have been engrossed in every single novel in the series and I am always on pins and needles waiting for the next as these characters continually evolve and change. The amazing Kiera Hudson series, both one and two, are definitely not to be missed, and I highly suggest you start from the beginning if you’ve not already done so—Vampire Shift, the book that started it all, is FREE on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Scoop it up, because by the time you’re done you’ll be hooked, and it won’t take you long to read through them all and make your way to this phenomenal novel, Dead Lost. Five stars.

Talk Supe review

DEAD LOST is a very revealing volume in more ways than one. For starters, we finally discover who the Photographer is, or should I say PhotographerS, and why they've been so bent on messing with Kiera, Potter and the rest of the crew since they arrived in the pushed world. Leaving pictures that depict the future and notes that does nothing but stir shiznit for the already agitated bunch. In a convoluted way, the Photographers have the same goal and that is for everyone to get out of this pushed world and go back to the real one. But before they can successfully do that, there's layers upon layers of mini alternate events, personalities, etc. that overlap each other, it's like going down the rabbit hole and it's sure to give us readers a serious case of Head Fluck!

Aside from these revelations, DEAD LOST is narrated by the siblings Kayla and Isidor. Yes they're back in the fray and both have been doing pretty interesting things in the background all thiis time. I'm a little torn over this because though I'm glad they're back in the story (I sure missed them!) part of me feels they were better left dead. It would've been dramatic plus it won't be a war without collateral damage right? Not only that, their deaths left an open slot for new characters or for secondary characters to be in the forefront. But regardless of this subjective feedback, I'm still glad they're back and the roles they will play in the final book, Dead End, will be pivotal.

TO'Rourke did another brilliant turn in DEAD LOST. It just shows how immense Kiera's universe is and how TO'Rourke planned and plotted the story to its minute details. I don't know what's going to happen in Dead End or if there will be a book 3 after this wraps up, all I wish (and I know I will get) is for the series to end with a loud BANG! And again, if you're an urban fantasy reader and haven't read this series, you're seriously missing out. In addition to that, don't be intimidated by the number of books out, the story is so good you'll devour each book in a matter of hours it won't be a challenge to catch up.

if you have not read the rest of the books Tim O'Rourke has written makes sure you get them all they are simply amazing I own all of his books that have been published to this date and strongly sujest you do the same never has a writer so captivated me to point that I'm looking daily his page on face book for information of when there will be more books by himwow simply wow Tim O'Rourke has a way with words and know how to keep you glued to book that before you know what has happened it 4am in the morning and you haven't stopped reading til you finished the book

Tim delivers once more and after starting the first page of his latest book you are instantly immersed in the "pushed" world of Potter and Kiera yet again. So many versions of the truth as the characters reveal to us the reader how similiar and different they are in this 'pushed' new world. The tightly woven strands form a tapestry of deceit and lies yet the overwhelming glimmer of hope stands out and draws us towards the finale. I enjoyed the snarky banter between Potter and Kayla and their slow dance towards understanding each other though I must be the only one who seemed to miss the real Kiera and her interactions with Potter. Tim's stories are so well fleshed out that there are no one dimensional characters and the story takes you on a magical adventure albeit a slightly scary and disturbing one at times. Friends are the family that you choose for yourself and I am keeping my fingers crossed that good will finally triumph over evil in the end but who knows with Tim, nothing is guaranteed.

After waiting for what seems like forever for this instalment to come out, and to find out the true identity of the photographer and with many guesses to who I thought it was going to be, I can honestly say wow I didn't have a clue I was so far off.

But that's the thing with Tim's books you think you've got the story all figured out but you'll always be wrong as I was.

I loved all the interaction with Potter and Kayla, and since her return a little bit of Potter as rubbed off on her as she too has some wise ass comments of her own.

Finally the return of Isodor, I've missed him and finding out if he'll get his chance to be with Melody Rose again.

A truly amazing series you won't want it to end but you just can't help yourself to finish every morsel as fast as you can.
Can't wait for Dead End!!

I love this whole series and I love all of Tim's work. It was exciting at first to find out who the photographer was. I was way off on my guess. But reading further, I kinda got lost in the details. There was some funny banter with a couple of characters which made me laugh out loud several times. I can't put my finger on it but it just kinda fell flat on me. During my wait for this book, I started the whole series again, and other books that have some subtle links, so I could be up to speed. I have read these books several times, which obviously means they are good or I wouldn't waste my time. I am looking forward to the rest to see if it picks back up. <3 Dead Lost (Kiera Hudson Series Two, #8) by Tim O'Rourke

Wow, such a fantastic book! What can I say that hasn't already been said? This book was very well written. So many pieces of the puzzle were put together for the reader. Some clues that I had forgotten about or didn't pay much attention to were mentioned in this book, and looking back on them now makes total sense. Everything just fell into place and left me feeling very content :).

Tim loves throwing in twists at the end, and I can tell you that I didn't see that one coming! Although my suspicions were correct about the true identity of Sam's real mother and father. I think Kayla's description of the mother gave it away ;).

Excited to read what will happen next in "Dead End"!!

Another awesome add to the series! I'm so glad that I came across Vampire Shift years ago! Who knew that I would become obsessed with these characters, like this?

If you haven't read Vampire Shift, first book in the Keira Hudson Series, then you are missing out. I highly recommend reading these books, especially if you love paranormal/horror with a kick-butt heroine and awesome sidekicks.

I'm ready for more!!

This book wasn't the usual action packed book which i have been used to from this series, it was more bringing everything together, crossing the 't's' and dotting the 'i's'. However in Tim's normal style the book always finishes with you wanting more and waiting for the next installment.

Satisfying to finally find out who the photographer is! I feared that the series was becoming too complicated to follow (for my liking), but I certainly had fun with Dead Lost. I look forward to seeing how series two concludes and how series three will start.

A great read and another fast paced episode. The small issue for me is that the books have been so far apart and with so many different series in between that I have forgotten a lot of what has gone before and lost some interest. That's not to deduct anything from the quality of the book, but I am not a person who re reads books and I don't like this current trend of not finishing one series before starting another which is only my personal beef. Some other writers I have given up on so that says something for this series

Another great book in the series. I like how I was wondering about certain things in previous books which got answered in this book. Only reason I only rated 4 stars was because I missed the whole gang being involved in this book.
