From New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Deborah Bladon, comes Hush, the first instalment in the Just This Once Series.

I have three hard and fast rules when it comes to one-night stands.
Don’t tell her your last name.
Don’t take her home with you.
Don’t knock her up.
I’m screwed.
Jane Smith was supposed to be a quick fling. I saw her as a brief escape from the never-ending drama that is my life as a surgeon in New York City.
Now, she’s pregnant and scared as hell.
Oh, and apparently her real name is Chloe Newell.
It’s probably not the best time to tell her that I’m the guy who ruined her life two years ago.

Author’s Note: This romance contains a gorgeous doctor, an unexpected pregnancy and a past connection between the hero and heroine that could change everything. Hush is part of the Just This Once Series. Each book features a different couple and the books are not connected so they can be read in any order.

Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.

She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.

4.5 Stars!!

I love how Deborah’s books start off with a bang, as if you are several chapters in. Normally you have a bunch of set up and fluff before it gets to the good stuff but not with DB.
It isn’t as if you don’t get the set up info that you need it just comes once you are already hooked.

Chloe Newell is attending a wedding and has challenged herself to be a bit more adventurous so she decides to play the part of “Jane Smith”. It doesn’t matter that she has had many heartbreakingly dreadful things happen in her past, she is still on a mission to better her life from here on out. She is strong and motivated and she has a great family that supports her. So why not live a little!!

Dr. Evan Scott is a dedicated surgeon who is married to his work. He has three very important rules for a one-night stand:
Don’t give your last name
Don’t take her home
Don’t knock her up

Evan and Chloe are wonderful! DB always has these ways of inner-twining her character’s lives in a way that catches you off guard. I have read almost all of her books and I have never been disappointed!

Unfinished

I have read all of this authors books. Loved them all but this one seems unfinished. Couple of things brought up and never touched on again. Like how you get the sense from the beginning he doesn't want to be a doctor

I reviewed an ARC of Hush.

I've read so many Deborah Bladon books, and loved them all. This was no different, though there were a few aspects that I didn't love.

Though we find out why later in the story, and it makes sense, I wasn't a fan of how they secretive Evan and Chloe were about personal information toward each other. It just kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

But, I adored their chemistry and Evan's persistence in getting to know Chloe beyond the one night stand. How they help each other trust and move past the pain of their backgrounds. That's what love does. It heals and restores.

I also love how close Chloe is with her family. It fosters a support system that is necessary after everything she's endured. She's strong and driven, going for everything she wants out of life.

Love breeds miracles.

many inconsistencies

The story itself was fine, but my biggest issue lie with the inconsistencies within the progression. For instance, there was a chapter where Evan gave Chloe his last name but then several chapters later he was gauging Chloe’s reaction when says his last name again as if it were the first time. I don’t know if the author lost track of her own story but a proper editor should have at least caught that as it was a pretty glaring error. Also Chloe’s married name was Newell but at the 90% point it was changed to Neville. Yet another obvious mistake a half competent editor should have caught.

These maybe minor issues that some are able to overlook, but as an avid reader it’s disconcerting to come across blatant errors and having to backtrack to understand what just happened.

The book actually had two topics I dislike-- one night stands and pregnancy resulting from one night stands. What made this one different for me was the fact that they both wanted to continue seeing each other immediately after that one night stand. Evan wanted her number that night. Chloe was a little reluctant only because of her past. The relationship sort of began that night. Evan was all in from that moment. Chloe took a little more convincing it wasn't just sex but she got there. I liked that they had something going before the word baby popped up. Looking forward to the others in this series.

LOVED LOVED LOVED

This was such a beautiful sexy read that I needed so very badly. This book came along when I needed it most. I’ve been in a horrible book slump and have been sorely disappointed in many I’ve read lately...until Hush.

Evan and Chloe are amazing! I loved how different aspects from their past are what unknowingly brings them together now.

This was sexy, fun, with a touch of emotion that leaves you feeling so happy at the end.

I loved “Worth” and “Hush” was just as amazing! So very excited for what’s to come next from this author!

Great!

I chose this rating because this was a really good book. The characters were great. They gave you enough to keep you going, to be intrigued and wanting to know what was going to happen next. I enjoyed Evan and Chloe. Her ex husband was a real piece of work. I loved the way she felt about her three step brothers, they were crazy about her as well. Even her step dad. This was a really great book. I enjoyed it a lot. I recommend this book to all romance readers. Great read!

Chloe doesn’t do one night stands. But one night with Evan is all it takes to turn her world upside down. She doesn’t give him her real name but she tells him a coffee shop she frequents. So he makes a point of finding her and he keeps trying to get more information about her. But she wants to keep it casual and doesn’t give him much to go on. He also keeps a few things to himself. Not wanting a repeat of a former relationship. But together they do find their way. And it’s a really good story.

Miracles Happen

Hush is a sexy, fun page turner I read in one day. Deborah Bladdon is one of the best romance authors ever! Hush follows Evan Scott and Chloe Newell. Evan is a very busy vascular surgeon who's job is his life. Chloe is an attorney who has had a lot of heart break in life. A chance meeting on a cold night in Manhattan sets these two on a path to happiness.

Another great read from Ms. Bladon

Deborah Bladon reads are always smooth and fun! I love how she ties in all of some of the characters from previous novels. It’s as those the novels can re read alone, yet they build on each other. The characters are always likable. The male characters are of course always my favorite. Dominating and sexy as hell!! Always a good read!

I've been reading a lot of books lately from more unknown authors and they are good. Takes a few chapters to get into the story then I'm hooked. They are so different to Deborah's books. First chapter bang. I'm hooked. Every chapter wants me reading more and more. Hence two days to finish Hush. 10 out of 10. Brilliant.

Will he show?

I wasn't sure when Chloe was to become pregnant; I persevered. Story hits tear jerker status. Characters show true vulnerabilities. I wasn't crazy about the secrets the two main characters kept in the beginning. Even after she learned of her pregnancy she was reluctant to share personal information with Evan.

Love can be found anywhere

Deborah always brings out the best c characters. Just is no different... Jane...AKA... Chloe is a beautifully broken women who has been through too much for one person... Evan is a jaded man. Evan is a surgeon, but the real question is does a jaded man want to heal such a broken women....

So many secrets

This was an entertaining read! I enjoyed the cat & mouse game they played in the beginning... each revealing a small detail of who they are. And coincidence is not just a word without meaning for this book, there are several coincidences! Subtle little coincidences! Until all is revealed! And, love prevails!

All the feels. Deborah Bladon's books are always awesome but this one had it all. The laughs, the risks and the special friendship that evolved were great to read. A standalone book worth taking the time to read!

Another beautifully written story by Deborah Bladon! I think I have fallen in love with each and every man she's written about. Evan and Chloe have amazing chemistry. When you look back at the strength and perseverance that is Chloe, you'll be as excited as I was that she gets her HEA!

I don't get the 4 and 5's on this book because there wasn't much of a story here.

Chloe and Evan decide to have a one night stand which she turns into them being sex buddies. Chloe gets pregnant and they end up married.

Like I said nothing here.

Hot and touching

Loved the plot twist and the mystery behind their romance, but I wish there had been more conflict from his ex or hers. It was too much work, work and time in bed. Needed more character growth.
