BLACK SOUL, SUFFOCATING IN SILENCE

Severus: demon, incubus, escort--leech. After centuries of scorn from his own kind in the underworld, Severus went topside and settled amongst the secret demon community in Farrow's Hollow. Located near a hell-gate, the city allows him to exist on Earth without sacrificing much of his demon abilities, but as with all incubi, he must take the life essence of humans to maintain his strength.

Working as an escort, he has been able to keep himself satiated, juggling enough clients to ensure that he doesn't repeat the mistakes of past incubi--the murderers, the gluttons, the true demonic leeches.

In his line of work, Severus sees much of the same every night: human women searching for surrender, for a connection, for love. He caters to them, steals from them, not realizing that he's desperate for all the same things.

BLUE EYES, WATCHING HER WORLD FADE AWAY

Moira Aurelia: grad student, TV-marathoner, bar trivia champion--unable to look in a mirror. Not anymore. Because when she does, she no longer sees herself. The person, the creature, staring back isn't her. It can't be.

The physical changes started after her mom died a year ago. Hair, skin, eyes. Nothing is the same as it once was, and no one can tell her why. Doctors refer her to specialists. Specialists shrug their shoulders. And Moira assumes she's dying from the same mysterious illness that plagued her mom.

But if she's dying, why is she getting stronger? Her body is changing, but into what? Something... supernatural. Inhuman. Other. Frightening new realities flash across her mind, but she can't accept them. She must be dying--because the alternative is crazy.

Fearing the end is near, and refusing to accept other possibilities, Moira goes after the one thing she can control: her sex life. Twenty-three and still unable to experience a satisfying climax, she schedules a session with a Rus Tanner, esteemed male escort, and hopes for something to go right for once.

LIGHT AND DARK COLLIDE--DESPERATE TO CONNECT

But the night takes a turn from the moment they meet. Severus, expecting just another dull session with a new client, is thrown by the otherworldly creature seeking his services--this strange, beautiful woman who arouses his long dormant demon side like none other. Moira, meanwhile, finds herself face-to-face with a man who can handle her newfound strength--and wears a dark stare and sinful smile like a second skin.

Two lonely creatures grapple with the undeniable pull between them.

Moira flees. Severus pursues.

Desperate for answers, the demon seeks her out--unaware that he isn't the only predator to have caught her scent.

PREDATOR is the first novella in THE HUNT, a paranormal romance serial. It contains coarse language, graphic sexual content, and a very mild cliffhanger. The Hunt is considered a continuous story containing one novella and three novels, and should be read in order:
PREDATOR (#1)
PREY (#2)
STALKER (#3)
KILLER (#4)

Liz is a Canadian author who grew up in the Middle East. She has a degree in Bioarchaeology from Western University, and when she isn't writing about her own snarky characters, she is reading about other people’s snarky characters, babying her herb garden, loitering on social media, or taking care of her furbabies.

Liz dabbles in both paranormal and contemporary erotic romance. Her paranormals are usually dark and angsty, and her contemporaries are stress-free smutfests, but you'll find both riddled with feels. Most of all, she loves writing realistic characters in fantastical settings.

Oh-kay this book was really good. Like a lot better than I expected it to be. This was the first time I'd read any Meldon books, and for some reason while signing up for her newsletter ended up signing up for her ARC team as well, so when this book was released, I got a copy of it, and let's just agree to it, that cover is HAWT babe. So I just had to read it- on principle.

I think about two pages into the book I realised that I'm going to really enjoy it. Meldon's writing was very clean and she wasted none of it on nonsense details, which is something I really admired. I'm surprised I'd never read any of her books before today because I guess if this is her level of writing, then I've been missing out on a lot.

Anyways on to the story- Severus (OMG how many of you just thought of Snape?!), is an incubus, who spends his life as an escort to gather his life force without killing anyone. Kind of content with his existence, he runs into a client who turns his entire life upside down and awakens his inner demon- Moira.

As a 22 year old, Moira Aurelia should be enjoying her life, but instead she has been living her life in fear of her own death. When her body starts changing beyond what should be biologically possible, Moira has given up all hope of getting to know what's wrong with her. And just as she thinks that she needs to live her life to the fullest before dying she get's to know the answers of all her questions from the escort she'd hired, then ran out on and then, got stalked on by.

It's a very fast paced book, and very short as well, but I knew that before getting into it. This novella ended on just that note that made me want to crawl out of my skin to get my hands on the next part. Bravo Meldon, bravo. And that ending- BRILLIANT!

4 - "You aren't... all that you appear." Stars!

Liz Meldon begins her new paranormal romance serial The Hunt by introducing, intriguing and then leaving her loyal readers desperate for more!

"What have you done to me..?

…And why?"

Having read and adored a large number of the author’s previous releases, this didn’t come as a massive shock, but it still bums me out each and every time, because I love this author’s writing.

We do get to know Severus ‘incubus/ male escort’ quite well in Predator but it’s only towards the end that things become a little clearer in relation to Moira and what/who she is.

Luckily the next installment; The Hunt is due for release next month so not too long to wait, after the revelations at the end of this one, I am itching to get my hands on the rest of the books in this series.

Paranormal Romances are my DRUG and Predator fed my addiction.

This was not my first book by Liz Meldon, and even though Predator was just a taste of what's coming up next, I dare say this is going to be my favorite series from her.

Dark-ish, dirty-ish, fast-paced, and oh SO GOOD are a few words to describe this book! Liz Meldon’s writing was great, very gripping and she sucked me into her paranormal world from the very beginning.

All in all, Predator was a fantastic story. I loved the characters and how the author portrayed the world she created. So if you are looking for an intriguing, paranormal tale, don’t hesitate and read this first installment in the series. You won't regret it! And if you do, I'll buy you an ice cream.

"It’s all real, Moira. Angels. Demons. Witches. Vampires. Everything that goes bump in the night."

A quick, 99 page intro to this angel/demon paranormal romance series. Severus is an incubus, a lust demon, working as a top-rated male escort. Moira is a college girl who has been going through some life-changes. Their paths cross. Questions are answered, bringing forth more and more questions. I'm moving right onto the next book because my curiosity has been piqued. I am trash for allllll angel/demon themes.

Moira is a 23 year old college student. She’s been living a normal life and one thing everything started to change. Moira has a feeling something is going on but can’t pinpoint what exactly is the cause of everything.

Severus is an incubus and male escort. He’s lived a life of solitude and all of that changes once he meets Moira who he has an instant and strong reaction to which is very rare for a demon.

I have to say I love the first encounter with Severus and Moira so much! You could cut the sexual tension with a stick! I really enjoyed this novella by Liz Meldon. I haven’t read too many paranormal books containing incubuses and demons. So this was a delighted change in the paranormal front. In this short story the author was able to keep me engaged the whole time I was reading and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Predator was a great introduction to a new paranormal romance series. Severus, an incubi. A demon who needs intimacy in order to contain his strength. And then there's Moira. She's a mystery. Not knowing why the things that are happening to her that are causing change in her appearance. And when both Severus and Moira come in contact with each other, you know things are about to get very interesting.

Predator had me craving more. Wanting to know what was going to happen next. It makes me extra excited for the next book knowing how the first book ended. Can't wait.

Is there anything better than discovering a fantastic new series?

I’ve been a fan of Liz Meldon since I discovered her Lovers and Liars series, which pairs everyone’s favorite Norse god Loki with Greek goddess Aphrodite to solve supernatural crimes.

When I saw Meldon was planning a series about a demon incubus working as a male escort, I one-clicked that bad boy so fast I almost broke a nail. And this book arrived just in time for a lovely snow day read.

Predator is the first book in Meldon’s new series, The Hunt, and it’s already got me hooked on her characters and totally invested in her world. There is the afore-mentioned sexy demon escort, Severus, who survives off of the life essence he gathers from humans in his job as a male escort. He’s perfectly snarky, independent, and tough… until he meets Moira.

Moira, graduate student and recluse, thinks she’s dying. Her body is changing into something unrecognizable and, to make a tough situation even worse, she’s never gotten to experience an orgasm.

Well, if she’s dying anyway, Moria figures she might as well book a male escort to go out with a bang. (Sorry. Couldn’t help myself.)

Is there explosive chemistry between Severus and Moira? Oh, yes! Are dark secrets revealed during the story? Heck yeah, even secrets I didn’t see coming.

The best part is, while Predator leaves you wanting more, Prey, the second book in The Hunt Series is just around the corner.

And you better believe I one-clicked the heck out of it!

5 stars. Quick steamy paranormal read. I loved the main character and Liz Meldon knows exactly how to write the most intriguing book boyfriends. Severus is a sexy incubus who doesn't find the least bit of excitement with sexual experiences, he just needs the touch to survive. So when he meets Moira, Severus is shocked to find out that not only does she capture his attention but she also doesn't satisfy his incubus needs...which should be impossible. I am so beyond excited for book 2.

This was my first read by this author and I have to say, it won’t be my last. I really enjoy a good Paranormal read and this one gave me more than I expected. It was dark, sexy, and had me craving my very own RUSS. It was a fast paced read and could totally be read in one sitting.

Looking forward to Prey, book 2 in The Hunt series.

From the moment I first saw Meldon mention Predator on Instagram, I knew I had to read it. It looks and sounds like everything I want in an erotic novella, and it didn't disappoint.

I loved how Meldon blurred the lines in Predator. The angels are bad guys, the demons are good guys, and poor Moira finds herself in the middle, unsure what's happening to her. The poor girl thinks she's dying as her body slowly changes into one she doesn't recognise, and I was just as curious as Severus to find out what she was turning into.

No magic. No tricks. It was just her--Moira without a last name. College student. Intriguing beauty. A threat to Severus's carefully cultivated control if he had ever seen one.

My only issue with Predator was the many italics. It's a personal preference, but I always feel underestimated as the reader when the author has to double-highlight anything. It also dictates a little too much how I read to my liking. A few italics are fine, but six on one small kindle page? It was excessive for me.

Books like Predator are where Meldon shines the brightest. I've read a few by her now, and she's at her best when demons, vampires, and other magical forces are involved. It's an easy recommendation if you love a bit of smut with a dark plot on the side--she writes both rather well!

Please bear in mind that this is an erotic novella, and therefore not suitable for younger readers.

I received an adanced copy in exchange for an honest review and I have to say I absolutely loved this book: I feel like althought it is extremely tiny, it leaves you wondering about what the hell is going on for the entire time of it and I was honestly so so surprised by what kept happening in this book, and it was only the beginning!

The characters were also extremely interesting: I loved both Moira, she is low key relatable, and didn't piss me off (at least in this book) as many main characters in paranormal romance books do, also I sincerely immediately felt bad for her and was curious to know what was happening to her; and althought this particular subject is much more evident in the second book I loved the theme of "having to deal with something that makes us different", and that is permanent.

The fear and the hopelessness were just so real I couldn't root for her, every little seconds I saw her feeling sad!

Sev I have to say he might be an incubus so he'll probably used his powers to earn both my blush and total attention, I also liked his story, his situation and his job, not only because it's extremely rare to read about males escorts but it was also interesting to see how everything fit perfectly and had some kind explanation behind it; I think the world-building was perfect and flawless and I am always interested when the author manages to use more than a mythical creature withouth it resulting in a mess.

I couldn't give it five stars (although my heart would have gladly given it five stars if Alaric had asked me, I have a little crush on that hybrid) because there were some scenes which unsettled me like Sev stalking Moira (I am going to call him Sev because I feel like it is something which would honestly piss him off, so since I like pissing off characters...), I mean he had reasons but still stalking so...

(Also can we all talk about the panties scene because I didn't know wether to cringe or laugh) (If they had been mine I would have probably cringed).

Still I enojoyed and was absolutely ready to know more about Moira and Severus!

For starters, I would like to mention that the last paranormal romance I have read was two years ago. Since that day, I have been avoiding anything close to that genre. Until now! Predator's synopsis and Liz's Meldon writing style were my green light to read paranormal again. And, yes, I'm so happy that I did!!!

So, let's make a small sum about what is going on in the story. I promise you not to reveal much. Farrow Hollow city thrives with underground creatures who live among humans. Suverus, a gorgeous incubus demon, found an easy way to refuel his strength, without creating problems, by working as a male escort for humans.

Moira Aurelia after her twenty-two birthday, few months ago, has started to have tremendously changes in her body. She thinks that her time is limited. Without wanting to leave this world without experiencing one great orgasm in her living life, Moira have chosen to use the services of a high-end escort agency. The night she first met Severus, one-two things had been clarified for Moira and Suverus but, most certainly, that they were both in deep danger.

What more can I say about Predator!! The author rocket it, writing the most intriguing plot. The narrative is vibrant, full of action and very detailed about underground creatures. The first installment of the series, the Hunt, is a quick read, introducing the main characters personalities and unfolding their past and present. This way the author provides the first taste of what is to come for Moira and Suverus relationship which it feels to be more suspenseful and riveting than The Hunt.

I hope I intrigued your imagination a little and make you grab the book, finding out what's really happening because there is no way to tell you myself. Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with the most unforgettable stories.

Incubus Severus is a male escort and being the epitome of many a human fantasy, has women beating down the door to give him his next fix. Grad student Moira Aurelia thinks she's dying and wants to experience an orgasm before she dies so she books a session with the best male escort. Severus is intrigued by the beautiful Moira who brings out his inner demon. Moira doesn't realize she's isn't human until Severus connects the dots and comes to a startling conclusion. But someone else already knows what Moira is and doesn't want anyone else to find out about her ... which means Moira's days are numbered. Note: This story ends on a cliffhanger.

Liz Meldon delivers an entertaining, intriguing and steamy story that will draw you in. I can't wait to read Prey, Book 2 of The Hunt series, to find out what happens next.

This is so good! Such a great start to a new paranormal series I definitely can’t wait to read the rest of! The world building is interesting, supplying just enough commonly known details about demons and the supernatural world for it feel familiar and believable, while also containing unique characters easy to fall for. The beginning was perfect, hot and drew me in, and the ending sets up the rest of the series amazingly! Definitely one I recommend checking out if you’re looking for steamy scenes, an interesting love connection, and great plot development!

WOW! When I say this series completely captivated me, I mean it. I recommended it to a group of friends immediately after finishing Predator and we all gobbled it up.

Severus has dark secrets, but unbeknownst to Moria, so does she.

This first novella in The Hunt series follows the meeting of Severus and Moria, and continues as the two begin to delve deeper into Moria's family history.

Predator is a seductive roller coaster, mixed with mystery and a cliffhanger ending that will leave you on your toes.

Severus has dealt with being at the bottom of social hierarchy all his long life. His kind, incubus, are considered lowly leeches at the best. Tired of all the scorn he decided to live among humans and obtain his sustenance from them. He lives his life as an escort, a perfect front for his true nature. In his line of work he he seen many unusual creatures but his entire lifetime couldn't have prepared him for Moira.

The past year has meant drastic changes for Moira. Everything about her is different. So much so that she can't bear to look herself in a mirror because the creature looking back isn't her. It can't be. Plagued with questions and unable to find answers, she just assumes that she has the same mysterious disease that took away her mother. She couldn't be farther from the truth.

Fate brings these two unlikely beings together and they share no similarities. Still the demon inside Severus longs to be near Moira and she can't seem to stop thinking about him. Together they try to seek out answers unaware that a higher power is out to hunt them.

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS BOOK, Y'ALL!!!! I am so stumped and honestly didn't see this story coming. It is without a doubt one of THE BEST paranormal romance I've ever read and SHIT IS JUST GETTING STARTED.

Moira intrigued me and man I can just feel that her story arc is going to be epically amazing. I am so here for this soon to be a badass heroine and honestly I am just waiting for her to kill some worthless creatures. GIVE MAMA DEATH!!!!!

Severus is my most favourite demon and I know I said it like it's real but humor me I AM IN LOVE!!!!! An escort who also is an incubus and doesn't really want to kill humans? Can he just please love me back?? I am so pumped to see more of his dirty talker side because who wouldn't want that?

Liz Meldon is just a master of whatever she writes and I KNOW she can write anything she sets her mind too. Basically, she is either a magical being or an evil mastermind but we'll figure out soon I reckon. Eagerly awaiting the next part of this gorgeous series!!!

Severus is almost at the bottom of the underworld chain, an incubus working as an escort. He lives in Farrow's Hollow, a city located near a hell-gate. Because of his condition he needs to take the life essence of humans to maintain his strength. Working as an escort, he has been able to keep himself satiated and in his line of work, he is used to women searching for surrender, for a connection and while he caters to them, he hasn't realized that he's desperate for all the same things. Severus sees much of the same every night until he encounters Moira. Moira Aurelia is changing but doesn't know why and really hates what she sees in the mirror. The person, the creature, staring back isn't her. The physical changes are started a year ago and none knows the reason, no doctor has been able to give her a reason. She must be dying from the same mysterious illness that plagued her mom even if she is getting stronger because the alternative is crazy. Desperate to feel something she hires an escort to help her climax, but things do not go as planned...

I have to say, paranormal is not my usual read. I love romance and Liz, but I get confused with the terms and levels in the hierarchy in the paranormal world so I usually avoid, but damn! I'm so intrigued by this story and Severus pull towards Moira and to know what the hell is going on! I do recommend, it's an easy and quick read and I just know that when they finally get it on it's going to burn down my tablet with all the heat!

One of the first things that attracted me to this book was the blurb. The premise sounded intriguing and the book teasers for this book had really piqued my interest even more. I wasn’t disappointed! Predator had everything that I love about this author’s paranormal romances. Having read a few of her love stories, I knew that this was one book I didn’t want to miss. Liz Meldon never seizes to amaze with her impeccable writing and colorful cast of characters. Predator is a dark and compelling romance from beginning to end. I was surprised how quickly I had devoured this story! Severus and Moira were such lovable and fascinating characters. I couldn’t help in being captivated by their journey and undeniable chemistry. Not to mention, the cliffhanger at the end had left me with so many questions! I’m craving for more of this story and so curious to know what’s in store for Severus and Moira in the next book. Despite the length of this book, I was very pleased with how this novella ended and I’m excited to see what will happen in the next book! So if you’re looking for a quick and entertaining read, then this is the book for you. I cannot recommend this book enough! Predator is a definite must read that shouldn’t be missed!

I wasn't expecting much from “Predator”, first in 'The Hunt' series and, at first, it didn't seem like it had much to offer.
But, as the story progressed, it was about to get much more interesting.
A year ago Moira, 22, found that her life was changing - her hair fell out and when it grew back it was pure white. Her green eyes become blue overnight. Her freckles disappeared and her skin tone lightened considerably.
The doctors can't explain what's happening but she's pretty sure that she is dying.
With that in mind she hires a professional male escort to give her the amazing sexual experience she has always wanted.
Russ has no problem when it comes to satisfying women. As an incubus his mere touch is usually enough to bring them to the brink of orgasm. As a bonus he gets well paid to feed off their energy.
But, with Moira, there is no energy to be found. Nor is there anything to indicate that she is any kind of demon or vampire. And, for the first time ever, he fails to bring a woman to orgasm.
It's enough to intrigue him. What is she? He's determined to find out and, when he does, it's a shocker for all concerned.
What seemed to be an erotic tale became something better and I'll definitely read on.
3 Stars.

I've had the pleasure of reading several of this author's contemporary romances and loved them all, but she absolutely blew me away with this paranormal romance. Technically, this one isn't as simple as a romance. Don't get me wrong - given the sexy Severus is an incubus, there is steam, but Meldon gives us just the tip of the romantic iceberg in this intro to The Hunt series. The attraction is certainly there between Severus and Moira, even though neither of them understand it, but there's also suspense surrounding Moira, including an interesting twist along the way. The book is easily read in one sitting, which is a good thing because I couldn't put it down, the characters are fantastic, and we even get some chuckle-worthy wit to keep things light. From past experience, I knew the author's talent for leaving a reader cursing and desperately searching for even one more page, so I expected it. But Wow! While it's not exactly an earth-shattering cliffy, there are certainly questions and this reader is not so patiently waiting for the next addition to the series.

So I have never heard anyone talk about this before but omg, this was so good, absolutely well done.

It is an urban fantasy romance between an incubus and a nephilim ( daughter of an archangel or an angel worrior), it is so steamy, so well written, the build up ans the atmosphere I adored very much. devoured it in one sitting, in less than 2 hours.

I absolutely loved the characters, Moira is a 23 year old teacher assistant Uni, she sounds like such a self reliant heroine, independent, isn't afraid to push someone through the wall ans kick ass when needed( that scene when he was following her), she is a bit confused though about her nature and the changes she is going through scaring her, but she is a star.

Severus is infatuated and reluctant to stay away at the same time but also very curious and cannot just leave her and let's leave it at that.

10 OUT 10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND PLS READ THIS SJSJSJSJS

Predator is the start of a new paranormal series by Liz Meldon. It deals with Servus, and incubus who has resorted to being an escort to get his feeding fix, and Moira, a twenty three year old girl who is literally changing daily and has no idea as to why.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a paranormal romance that didn’t make me roll my eyes in predictable expectations. Servus was a nice change of pace from what I’m use to. He may be a little alpha in some ways but all in all he’s kind of the low man on the totem pole, so to speak, when it comes to the demon world.

Moira was relatable in the sense of how she was reacting to the changes she was experiencing. The chemistry between both Servus and Moira was great. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series brings for these two characters. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book gets two stars for effort. But it is not worth it to read.

One can be emotional without tearing up every few pages!!!!
The main female character is one annoying and constantly crying specimen of a woman.
The author has a talent to describe unnecessary stuff with more detail than the things that are really interesting. As well as making time jumps when precisely those times would be interesting to know about. The development. Which makes the book appear superficial. As the important things are not lived through. Additionally the fantasy aspects lack creativity at times. At some point it is clear the author has reached its limits, as certain fantasy aspects are just given, no thought through or explained. Even the characters have no clue, which is very unprofessional for an author.

This was, to me, simply the introduction of what is going to be an ongoing story. Severus is an Incubus who fuels (feeds) himself as male escort, known as Russ Tanner. Moira is a Nephilim; only she doesn’t know it. All she knows is that 22 she’s changing. Both the color of her hair and eyes change, freckles disappear, and she’s getting stronger. Moira and Russ (Severus) meet when she hires him as a male escort. After their encounter, he knows that like his best friend she’s a hybrid, and ultimately connects with her again. For selfish reasons, he agrees to help protect her from her father. Her father just happens to be an angel who wants her dead.

Needless to say, it got me interested…… I received an advance copy of this book and am I voluntarily leaving a review.

Breathless and ethereal. That’s how this first book felt. The ghostly touch of the connection between Moira and Severus is ready to ignite something powerful and I’m eager to see what.
I loved how we join Moira in her quest of answer, how we sense her loneliness and the feeling to be lost. And despite the big name of “demon”, Severus seems to harbor some human characteristic. Like loyalty, the desire for recognition and the possibility to be hurt or manipulated.
The story was kind of foreseen, but I like how the chance meetings happens and the way it is written.
I recommend this book for its touch of mystery, its taste of paranormal and the dust of somewhat romance. Throw in a hells and heavens plot frosting, and the chunks of realistic characters.
