Synika was his mate and he didn't give a damn if she refused.
"You're going to be my bride. I'll make certain of it."
Synika has hidden from the dominant alien race that conquered Earth 100 years ago in search of fertile females. She's a strong-willed and headstrong woman who knows what she wants and it isn't belonging to some Dungari male and auctioned off at the annual Choosing. When she meets Tuvari and their worlds collide, Synika is forced to confront her prejudices and decide if the Dungari male is her friend, foe . . . or maybe more.
Tuvari helped establish the first colony on Earth and works with the Dungari Bureau of Human Affairs. He's a soldier and a warrior with a reputation, determined to keep his race from extinction. Strong, charismatic, confident, and sexy as sin he's used to getting his way and exactly what he wants. Until he meets Synika. Tuvari has always believed his one true mate existed but could he dare to fall for a human?
Is it love, lust, or something more that draws the two together? In a world torn apart and ravaged by lies, can Tuvari and Synika move past the betrayal of a nation and find common ground?
Dungari Rise is first in a new exciting series of alien romances with heat, Alien Alphas of Pilathna.
Nikki Landis is a romance enthusiast, tea addict, and book hoarder. She's the USA Today Bestselling Author of over seventy novels, including her widely popular Tonopah, NV GBMC series. She writes wickedly fierce, spicy romances featuring dirty talkin' bikers, deadly, possessive reapers, wild bad boys, and the feisty, independent women they love. Nikki loves to write character-driven, emotionally raw stories where protective, morally gray anti-heroes fall hard for their ride-or-die.
She's a mom to six sons, two of whom are Marines. Books are her favorite escape.
They came to Earth on a mission. They needed females to save their dying race, but the Dungari’s idea of how to “encourage” female participation was both horrendous and barbaric, but, hey, they were the superior race, right? As they begin their annual “Choosing” of young, fertile females of great beauty, there were those who would resist and among those rebel groups determined to take back the planet, Synika hides and so far, she has managed to avoid sexual slavery, until a captured warrior entices her with his mind, little did she or the rebels know, he was a plant, there to crush their rebellion.
Tuvari will do what has been ordered, but he won’t be barbaric or cruel. One look at the Earth female and he knows his heart has met its match in the fiery beauty in front of him. He will do everything he can to protect her from the vile and sadistic prince who has purchased her body. That decision will force him to declare where his loyalties are, with his people or the humans they use for physical pleasure.
No one can say who one will fall in love with, or how one knows the enemy can be trusted, but Synika and Tuvari become lovers and pawns in a dangerous game that could spell death for two civilizations or life for a new future for all. Could you trust a man from a race that raped, brutalized and enslaved your people? How can one be true to both their heart and their duty to their race?
DUNGARI RISE by Nikki Landis is an erotic romance against the odds as two worlds collide in a most vile and demeaning way. The passion and caring between Tuvari and Synika is so far removed from the sexual battering of the other “chosen” women, it is almost like reading two separate stories. Nikki Landis does well with her words, as we are not made flies on the wall for the brutality, just witnesses to the aftermath. She leaves no doubt about the feelings that are growing between Synika and Tuvari or what kinds of odds they will be up against from both sides.
Betrayals, jealousies and mistrust will mar both races, and to be honest that made this science fiction tale all the more believable. Filled with high tension of mostly the emotional kind, the emphasis is on romance, although there are battle scenes that one cannot help but get completely behind! Spice, space and survival, all rolled into one. Nikki Landis has taken science fiction to a new level of passion while clearly defining the lines between right and wrong!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Nikki Landis in exchange for my honest review.

Synika is a heroine you can admire and adore. What she faces after losing her freedom would have taken most people to their knees with fear, but she is brave. After being purchased by one of the Dungari and tossed into a harem for the nasty prince, she discovers that her purchaser, could also offer her hope, and perhaps love.
Tuvari is my kind of hero. Dominate, yet when it comes to his woman, devoted and loving. He is captivated by the beautiful and spunky Synika, which puts him on a path that could cost him more than his heart.
This was my first alien romance, and wow, I’m so glad I let Nikki take my innocence. I loved the premise of a species on the cusp of destruction who needs yet enslaves humans. The romance that developed amid that action was steamy, sexy, and sweet. There was a great balance between the plot of the humans and their struggle against the Dungari and the romantic threads. The world created was fascinating and I hope there will be more parts, Maybe with Izzy??
If you are looking for a romance you can’t go wrong with anything by Nikki Landis. I recommend you start right here, and find out just how hot it is when a master blends sci-fi and sexy romance.
A sci-fi erotic romance like no other, Dungari Rise will shock and surprise you, transport you into another world, and challenge what you believe. Follow the strong heroine Synika as she battles a brutal and terrifying race of warriors whose only objective is the Choosing. Where do the lines cross between cruelty and necessity? Is love enough to break through the hatred, bigotry, and defilement of a nation? Find out in Dungari Rise.......
A powerful story perfect for fans of YA-Dystopian who are ready for "adult" content. The author uses an interesting tactic, writing the human heroine, Synika, in first person, and the alien hero, Tuvari, in third person. Although 21, in many ways, Synika comes across younger due to her years of having been sheltered by her brother in a post-apocalyptic world. But those days of shelter are over when she is purchased by an alien warrior during the Choosing Ceremony and sent to be part of a cruel prince's harem. The author doesn't shy away from describing the violence Synika witnesses, but her alien warrior does everything he can to protect her, and his actions bring them together both sexually and emotionally. In doing so, he realizes just what his "superior" race is doing to humans. Equal parts romance and a study of clashes between worlds, Dungari Rise is a page-turner.
I received a review copy of the book from the author.
**Received ARC for a fair and honest review** Dungari Rise is a sci-fi dark erotic romance. The Dungari need women to breed with to save their dying race, and human females are compatible with them. After the Dungari take over Earth they begin the "choosing", any female must attend the choosing once they turn 18, no exceptions. But the females are nothing more then breeders, they can be used and abused or killed with no repercussions. Synika with the help of her family and the Specters, keep her hidden until she is 21. When the Specter's decide they want to take a Dungari soldier prisoner and interrogate them, time runs out for Synika. Tuvari doesn't have to see Synika to know she's there and that he's meant for her. Tuvari is royalty, and the worst part is his brother is Prince Varo a cruel, evil, twisted ruler that loves using and abusing the women with no regard for them. Tuvari buys Synika with the Prince's money, and then has to try and figure out how to keep her safe when they get back to his home planet. The author lays out a good storyline, the book is fast moving and was hard to put down. It was disturbing at times- so sensitive readers beware, there are some dark themes in this book. The characters are enjoyable, have good chemistry and if you like hot and steamy- you won't be disappointed. I also really enjoyed most of the secondary characters. Synika was raised to be strong, and she is a very strong woman and very mistrustful. Tuvari is kind and caring, the opposite of his brother, but he is very vague, so to try and avoid conflict but ends up causing numerous issues between them. Tuvari goes out of his way to protect Synika and the other women as much as he can. They face a lot of adversity, but together they work to overcome it and try to make changes to help more women, current and for the future. This story is an emotional rollercoaster, it's going to take you up, down and around and leave you reeling when you're finished. One thing that made me very happy that seems to be a trend lately in books I've been reading is the end just stops and leaves you frustrated, the author didn't just end the book, and ends it so you feel a sense of closure with the story, but does leave you wanting some of the secondary characters stories. Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!
Dungari Rise, Wow, Nikki Landis has done it again!! I absolutely loved Dungari Rise. This story really makes you imagine what the characters and worlds would look like.I This story is a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, heartache, and triumph, and of course a love story with some hot and heavy romance mixed in. I love Synika, she is an Incredibly strong woman who doesn't take crap from anyone. The unthinkable heart wrenching, disturbing sittuations, and reality of Synika's and all the other womens lives and experiences had me heartbroken for them, yet pleasantly surprised and awed, by their strength and determination they all have. This is a very empowering story for all women. But let's not forget the Hot Dungari Tuvari. The love and determination he has for Synika, to take on the world for her, is swoon worthy. You won't be disappointed with this story. Happy reading.
I wish I could express how much I loved this story! Synika and Tuvari are as far apart as two people can be. They have absolutely nothing in common, but feel an instant connection anyway! The Dungari didn't appeal to me at all when this started, they seemed like arrogant, condescending and not at all likeable! Then we get to know Tuvari and his friend Holnar, they slowly swayed my opinion! Synika thought she knew everything she needed to know about the Dungari but meeting Tuvari changed her whole way of looking at the world! Will these two be able to connect and form a bond or will the hate, fear and prejudice on both sides be enough to keep them apart? I only know I will need more from this world! There's so much more we need to know!
Dungari Rise is something you don’t see too often nowadays, an epic romance. It depicts a large and complex world, as Earth has been invaded by aliens who treat humans as workforce and disposable fodder for any interests they may have. The crux of this book is the relationship between Synika, a human woman, and Tuvari, a Dungari male.
Synika is selected for a Dungari prince’s harem in a rite called the Choosing Ceremony. I loved the way the harshness and pure politics of a harem was illustrated in Dungari Rise. Real-life harems were hotbeds of backstabbing, positioning, and plotting, and elements of that come through in this book. Tuvari, a guard in that harem, does experience somewhat convenient insta-love, but that’s necessary to explain why he, as a male of the overlord species who’s supposed to stop any human rebellions, would take on the challenges that he does for Synika.
And that was my major quibble with this book, and what pulled my rating down a bit—Synika is consistently put into dangerous and sometimes horrific situations and always saved at the last second by Tuvari or others with him. After a while, it became improbable and somewhat predictable for me. I was more satisfied when, in a later stage of the book, those dangers led to actions that I hope are setting up future books in this series.
While Dungari Rise is a complete romance, Landis is just starting to explore the world of this Dungari invasion of Earth. I hope there are future books in this series telling the stories of some of the couples hinted at in Dungari Rise, while moving the larger story of this fascinating struggle forward.
'He played me to perfection. His fingers the master of composition, his lips the expert at finding each note, his hips the finest bow upon the strings. He brought forth a masterpiece, a unique blend of precision and harmony, as we danced to a song of our own creation.'
Only Ms. Landis knows how to spin an intricate tale of love between a man and a woman from two totally different worlds. I immediately fell in love with Synika and Tuvari and sympathized with all of the trials and tribulations that they had to endure. The writing style is flawless and the love scenes are smokin' hot. Who would have thought that my new book boyfriend would be a blue-tinged skin Dungari named Tuvari!
Dungari Rise is a one-click, must read Paranormal romance for 18+ 5 Beautiful Stars
I’ve hemmed and hawed for days, literally, about how to start this review. Dungari Rise is a unique romance that manages to blend a plethora of genres and themes. Post apocalyptic: check. Dystopian: check. Enemies-to-lovers romance, Science fiction, space travel and aliens, Political intrigue and social commentary: check, check, and check. I mean, my head is still spinning with all the story elements and I finished reading it days ago. “Is this a good thing?” you ask, and I say “Yes!” When a story won’t leave you after the final page, that’s definitely a good sign.
One of my favorite elements of Dungari Rise was, not surprisingly, Tuvari and Synika’s tumultuous relationship and romance. Synika’s original feelings of anger and resentment toward Tuvari were understandable and realistic, as was her gradual warming. Watching her trust, then doubt, then trust again might’ve given me whiplash but it was certainly a fun ride.
Another favorite part of the journey was learning the real reason behind the Dungari’s subjugation of earth and the sexual slavery into which human women were forced. While the Dungari means & methods were deplorable I found myself understanding their desperation and forgiving them (to an extent).
There was so much creativity in Dungari Rise! From the explanation of Earth’s near-demise, to spaceships and the Dungari home-world... The politics of an alien-controlled Earth, the resistance movement... Even the introduction of humans altered by the post-apocalyptic fall-out and now living completely separate from the rest of humankind in subterranean cave systems. Ms. Landis has quite the imagination and paints a vivid, addictive picture for her readers.
At times there was so much “other” stuff happening and, as a reader, I just wanted Tuvari & Synika’s love story to stay center stage. I think that’s my only complaint and why my final rating was 4.5 instead of a solid 5 stars. This was my first book by Ms. Landis I will definitely be searching out more of her works!
My review:- Dungari Rise, written by Nikki Landis. Another fantastic read, by the talented author Nikki Landis. We follow the story of Synika, kept in hiding since she was a child, to protect her from the blue race of aliens and from the harsh reality of slavery and breeding - ‘The Choosing’. Enslaving young women and forcing them to endure the Choosing. Females of the planet earth, once selected soon find themselves never to return to their loved ones. Sometimes death is better than being a sexual slave. Tuvari is a soldier who always completes his mission; honour and bravery his highest calling. Nearing his term as a loyal royal soldier, Tuvari soon learns, Synika is not just any slave. She is his mate. To protect Synika, Tuvari must overcome several obstacles to gain her trust and freedom and also their lives. Fantastic book, cannot wait for the next book. Download and read Dungari Rise, today. Fantastic read, by a talented author
As a Middle/High School librarian, I have been a fan of YA dystopian novels for years. Now that I've been introduced to the grown-up version, I'm even more hooked. The complex world-building, backstory, and erotica blend perfectly as the relationship grows. This was a very satisfying read.
The author provided an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book was given to me as an Arc. I had never had this type of romance/erotica book so Ill be honest I was excited but nervous. I definitely shouldnt have been nervous though. Nikki Landis kept me hooked from the moment I started reading.
Synikas brother had kept her hidden from the Dungari so they wouldnt take her back to their home to mate with her. Tuvari found her though and brought her back. You could tell he loved her from the moment he saw her. The feelings werent mutual at first. But as he protected her from the guards, the prince and sadly some of the other women who were jealous of her beauty and Tuvaris love for her she fell in love back. They married secretly(although she didn't realize that is what happened) and made love.
The prince and his main guards were pretty evil. raping and hurting the women for the sake of "breeding" for their race. The girls would be badly abused and some died. It was heartbreaking and realistic.
I wont give away the ending but filled with revenge, betrayal and love this book is a must read. Whether you are a first time scifi/fantasy romance reader or a seasoned u wont regret it
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I absolutely love paranormal Sci-Fi stories, and Dungari Rise has definitely been added to my keeper list. Nikki Landis has written an engrossing, suspenseful, action packed book that is quite simply a page turner.
The book begins many years after the Earth has lost a war to the alien race, Dungari. The Dungari chose Earth due to Human women being compatible for breeding. An auction has been established called 'The Choosing' once a year for all acceptable women 18 and older to be sold.
The love story of the human girl, Synika, and the Dungari guard, Tuvari, is filled with tribulations and traumas before they can have their happiness. This book does have triggers, however, I highly recommend it. I do hope that there will be more of the Dungari in the future.
Protected💕 By Tuvari🐺🍆⛲🔫🔪 Big, Blue🐺🍆⛲🔫🔪, and Just For You💙!
I have a problem with the hypothesis of this book. If all human females of age 18 are taken by the Dungari🐺🍆⛲🔫🔪, in one way or another, how are the humans still able to reproduce after 100 years of this?
The author doesn't say if there are unchosen women released back into the general population or what happens to them. Apparently there are some young women who are missed or in hiding, like Synika💃💋, now 21 and protected by 👻Specter, a secret human organization formed in opposition to the rule of the Dungari🐺. But, are there enough to sustain the post apocalypse human population?
When Synika's brother Yuri, the leader of 👻Specter, captures Tuvari🐺🍆⛲🔪🔫, a Dungari Warrior and Officer, he figures he can control him. But the opposite happens, and Tuvari🐺🍆⛲🔪🔫 easily escapes with his prize, Synika💃💋.
ARC Received from Booksprout🌱 I also got the ebook with KU.
This is an ADULT, Alpha Alien Romance and Adventure. The well written and interesting book is written from dual points of view, but in first person, which I don't care for that much. Too many I words. It's redeemed by being a super good sci-fi page turner!
For all the self defense and combat training Synika💃💋 has had, she still lets herself be pushed around and harmed by others. Doormat?!
This leaves her in the care and protection of Tuvari🐺🍆⛲🔫🔪, whom she knows doesn't tell her the whole truth. What is he hiding from her?
"An Amazing and Unique Alien Romance" The futuristic storyline is awesome and exciting. The characters are so unique. This story kept me glued to the pages. Tuvari is from the planet Pilathna. His people the Dungari made a deal with earth. They help earth and earth gives them women for breeders! The earth women are chosen by a ceremony called the choosing. Synika is a young earth woman. Her brother has kept her hidden from the choosing for three years. Her brother is the leader of the resistance! One day he and the others capture a Dungari warrior Tuvari. Only he escaped taking Synika with him! Synika is taken to the planet Pilathna. Tuvari wants Synika for himself. Only now he must rescue her from the Dungari leader. You will love this super exciting, thrilling, funny, suspenseful, and scorching hot Alien Romance. It is a five star plus story.
What a good book. This is a very intense book. Here is just a little price. Synika has been in hiding for 3 years now. She didn't want to go through the Choosing. But mistakes are made and she is taken to the D.B.H.A to be auctioned off. This is where her heart learns to love, hate, and feels so much sorrow. Tuvari have been waiting for over 100 years for his keharna. He found her when he lets himself get captured. He has to go through may struggles. But he will never let his keharna go. I will be recommending this book to family and friends.
Joy
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I am confused as to what happens to the human population in general if every girl is chosen at 18. How are there any women left to have children? That was too unclear and bothered me the entire book. The actual story was brutal and PTSD should have been rampant but wasn't. Hmmmm.
The alien culture seemed a little too pat and things didn't make internal sense all the time.
I thought it was okay but I wouldn't read it again. I won't read any sequels.
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed the story between Tuvari and his Keharna. He was caring and possessive and even though the odds were against them they carried on fighting for what they believed.
Dungari Rise (Alien Alphas of Pilathna #1) by Nikki Landis I received this book from the author for an honest review. YIKES!! And WOWZER!!! Tuvari and his people came to Earth looking for females. They weren’t the nicest or sweetest of dudes that is for dang sure. They were a bit arrogant since they are the top of the apex now. Synika has been hiding from this culling or Choosing Ceremony. Her brother has done a lot to shelter her from the world that they live. However, she is taken to be part of a harem for a prince who is not the kindest of people. But Tuvari sees Synika and he knows he needs to tread lightly. Her sass and fiery nature put his heart all kinds of wild. He is a brother to the Prince and starts to do everything he can to protect an save her. The book is very open to the brutality that Synika sees and it can be a bit difficult to read but the main character is strong. She is able to over come and forge a strong relationship with Tuvari. This book was hard to read at times but I really enjoyed the sci-fi nature of the book along with the dystopia feel.
She's done it again. A fine story with great characters and an ending that touches the heart - if you have one ;-). An innocent young woman is taken by an alien race to breed, as well as put up with a lot of harrowing sh*t, and falls for a guard who has already imprinted her soul on his. They must fight against all odds to bring down the establishment as well as prove their love.
With aliens, plenty of action, and tear-jerking moments, this is not your typical erotica. This story brings the term 'blueballs' to a whole new level!! For readers of romance and hot steamy sex, this is a love story that spans across races for an eternity.
I got this book as an ARC in exchange for a voluntary review. Earth has been defeated by the Dungari. They come to earth for females and every year in the fall is the Choosing Ceremony where women over 18 yrs old are bought for breeding. Synika has been hidden by her brother, Yuri, for 3 yrs. This year she is caught and bought at the ceremony by Tuvari for the prince. Tuvari realizes that Synika is his mate and he eventually convinces Synika that he loves her. Will they last or will reality convince her she can have no part of his life ? This is a very tragic love story that has so much promise.
This is the first book I've read by this author, and I'm definitely a new fan! I loved this sci-fi erotic romance. It was different and exciting. Enter a world of fierce alien warriors, where the women are unable to breed successfully. They have made an agreement with Earth to take their women for breeding instead. Tuvari and Synika may have gotten off to a difficult start, but learning how to trust each other is a must for survival. The abuse of these poor women! Will Synika suffer the same fate? This is a twisted story, and it sucked me right in. The dark aspects were just enough to get the gist of the scenes, but not too deep so as to cross the line into horror, although I would have enjoyed it equally. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in this series!
I really liked this book! It was a pleasant surprise to me because I don’t always like human/non human love stories. Nikki Landis is a great writer and I was drawn into the story from the time I started it... I couldn’t wait to find out how the story developed and how the characters developed in the story. Tuvari is a wonderful character and I loved his connection with Synika from their first meeting. I also loved the way the brother got his! I think it was well deserved!
Awesome Read, i love it! this book was awesome, hot, steamy and sweet! intense, exciting and captivating story..and the love Scene? just wow!! it's a page turner..couldn't put it down..first time nikki Landis reader and two thumbs up for me! well done Ms.Nikki! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book!!! thanks!
the world of aliens and humans put toghether and the way they interact realy gets my attention, loved the book and it's very well written, can't wait for the sequel.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book took me a little bit to get into it but once I did, it was a great story. The characters were very well written and I loved the story. I look forward to the next one!
I absolutely loved this book! Synika is a strong, human woman that's been hiding from the aliens that invaded earth over 100 years ago. They came to earth to searching for fertile females because their planet was dying out, due to their females being infertile. Synika is selected for a Dungari prince’s harem in what is called the Choosing Ceremony. Tuvari is a loyal royal soldier and learns that Synika is his mate. Synika and Tuvari face many trials and tribulations, will love be enough to see them through? This story was unique, compelling, imaginative, and unlike any I've read before, it's a definite must read.
