The one thing that grumpy lion shifter Jax hates more than kids is sharing the remote control for the TV. So, he's thrilled when he has the firehouse to himself for five glorious days. That is until someone drops off an annoying pink package on the doorstep, and this one isn't from Amazon...
Violet is an emotional wreck. But what else would she be after she's forced to abandon her five month old baby at the firehouse? The muscular fireman with the sullen look will take good care of him, right? Right???
With no one to pass the baby off to, Jax is forced to watch it for the weekend. What could possibly go wrong? Babies like steak and beer, don't they?
This series should be read in order for maximum enjoyment. Start with Book One featuring Zane: amazon.com/dp/B077CZFQG3.
A hot, new paranormal romance writer who loves Werebears and the tough, BBW that can handle them.
Her latest series is Smokejumpers: Werebear (Bear Shifters of Flathead Forest) a cast of fun, lovable and sexy smokejumping shifters. Each book focuses on a different member of the crew and the women that they fall for.
Jax is the grumpy one of the shifter bunch; he is a Lion shifter. He always has a sarcastic comment to make and when it came time of the Auction where he was to auction off to the highest bidder for a date night to help children he came out glaring at everyone. Needless to say no one bid on him and that was what he was hoping for. Jax hates kids and he makes no bones about it. He doesn’t want to be around them at all. You really should read the previous books to really understand his character. He is stubborn, and opinionated. Only one person knows his reason for not liking kids and that would be Zane. They were both at the orphanage together and the other kids mercilessly bullied him until the two of them were forced to leave the orphanage. Draven, his sister Aleida and her mate Gunner have left for Europe. Zane has promised a vacation with Gwen, and Axel and Hadley are going to her home town to meet her parents, and to take care of things such as quitting her job, and ending the lease on her apartment, and to bring back some things. This is going to leave Jax at the firehouse all by himself for the weekend and then some and he can’t wait for them to leave. After they are all gone Jax gets down to doing all of the things that everyone tells him he is not to do. Drinking too much beer, sitting in the Fire Chiefs recliner in his underwear and having a grand time of it until he turns off the stereo and hears a faint cry. Going to the door and opening in a box to his surprise is a baby. The things Jax does to an for this little on is so funny because he is a man that knows nothing about little babies but he is trying his hardest. After a while of being with “Beast” as he calls the baby he begins to have feelings for him and decides that he is going to keep him and raise him himself. Violet is Benjamin’s aka “Beast” mom she is in a horrible situation and was forced to give her child up by the monster that kidnapped her two years ago. It is tearing her heart out to have to give him up and upon finding her car keys that Antonio had thrown out she sneaks into town to check on the baby trying not to be caught but on the second time Jax does catch her and she is terrified of what Antonio is going to do to her if he smell the baby or even Jax on her. Jax wants to help her but she is so frightened and beaten down. Will she escape the monster that has been beating on her? If she does will Jax be able to protect her from him. This whole books is such a great story with all sorts of funny bites, and to see Jax’s transformation is something to behold.
Grumpy lion shifter Jax has put up with a lot of things, but a baby, man, oh man he hates those creatures more than anything, gag!
Everybody is gone and Jax is left alone at the firehouse, how sweet it is, he can laze around and nobody to tell him what to do. All of a sudden his peace & quiet is disrupted by a bundle left at the door to the firehouse. What's a lion to do, but man up and make do with a little paper towel and duct tape and life goes on, but wait, it can't be that the little Beast is starting to get under the gruff, but really softies skin? But that's not all, when he gets one look at Beast's mom his lion decides all bets are off and bonds to her and a new Jax is born!
If you want to laugh and hoot you are going to have to read the hilarious antics that go on at the Colwood Firehouse while Jax is in charge.

Colwood Firehouse: Jax The Shifters of Colwood Firehouse Book 4 by Kim Fox ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I knew Jax's story would be funny with a lot of laughter. I am a real book stalker of Kim Fox books. I have enjoy reading all of Kim Fox series they are humorous, suspenseful, a real page turner that is if you enjoy Paranormal Romance. This is the fourth book in this series. Another hot, spicy and juicy story, it's so enjoyable to read. Of course, Jax is hot, sexy but there is one flaw he doesn't like kids. Jax is a alpha male, he doesn't get why his fellow packs want a mate and kids. So when his friends are off with their mates, Jax intends to enjoy himself doing what he wants when he wants. But of course there is a nail in his wheel when a baby is left on front steps of the firehouse. Plus the baby mother can't stay away. There is lots to laugh about, it's the kind of light hearted book you can't help but to enjoy. Can Jax keep a baby for a weekend? What will Jax feed a baby beer, steak or what? Will Jax fall in love with baby over the weekend? Believe me I laugh a lot about the answers. I feel this series gets more intriguing and questions answered Hunter's Heart. This series gets deeper with every book. Kim, you keep us coming back for more and I for one is so happy I did. You should read this book for yourself and find out how it make laugh and enjoy read this book it's absolutely intriguing and funny!! If your spirit needs a lift read this story I think it will give you that spark you need.
I’ve read the other books in this series. They’re not the most well written books by any means but this one, well, this one was terrible. I couldn’t stand how dumb the author made Jax out to be. No one is as bad with children as she made him. He’s a firefighter but strapped the 5 month old baby into a seatbelt and wondered why he didn’t stay there?? Come on!! Then he tried to feed him steak?! Rookie mistake as he later claimed. Um, no, terrible writing. Then the story with Social Services?? They work on the weekends too. Just an FYI. Violet has been held prisoner for two years but she’s just going to use the strength Jax has to get through it? Zero character development. Couldn’t stand Jax in this book. Can’t stand Violet either.
I powered through the book because I don’t like not finishing one I start. I’ll also read the last book in series because of the same reason. But I won’t be returning to this author. The writing is juvenile and the story line is ridiculous. I’m really at a loss for words on how stupid this story was. I just can’t even. Ugh. Don’t waste your time. Although, I assume if you’re reading this book (which is Book 4) that you have powered through the others as well. Just don’t get your hopes up for Jax. Off to Draven so I can finish this debacle.
Violet is in a severely abusive relationship and the tiger shifter who controls her insists that she give up her son and if she didn't he’ll be killed. So, she bundles up her little one and leaves him on the firehouse doorsteps.
Jax is the grumpy, antisocial shifter of the firehouse bunch; he hates kids, he doesn't like women being around, and he can barely stand his shifter pals. Then he gets four whole days to himself and the first time he opens the door to the station he finds an abandoned baby in a box. A KID! What’s he supposed to do with it? A more clueless bachelor there never was when it comes to babies. But he and "Beast" as he calls the boy survive their first few hours together and bond. Although Jax's attempts at caregiving are as hilarious as they come. Who would think duct tape was a necessary babysitting tool? Who would know that a person could change so much?
This is the short story from the Colwood Firehouse series. Although it’s not necessary to read the previous books of this series, it would be helpful, and you would enjoy them. Kim Fox does a wonderful job weaving together this story of abuse, kidnapping, and falling in love with the right person. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and am giving my honest review.
5 stars for Jax and his interactions with the baby. 3 stars for heroine as I thought Violet was weak and spineless. So funny how Jax was completely incompetent with the baby. Laughed out loud at his ineptness. His interactions with the baby were the only thing that kept me reading after Violet made her entrance. Once Violet came into it I just wanted to slap her silly. Violet I was supposed to feel sorry for but I just had no time for such a weak, spineless person. I hate weak woman as heroines, they just annoy me. No woman would or should allow herself to be treated like that and be forced to give her baby away. Yes, Anton was a nightmare but she could have easily stuck a knife in him during the night. No shifter would survive a slit throat or being stabbed in the heart. Suspending disbelief is needed to read this story due to following facts. Violet is kept prisoner and raped and beaten for two years during which time she gives birth. Within 24 hours of running away she is having sex with Jax. Cannot believe a person traumatised like that would act like this. Maybe it’s just me. I enjoy disappearing into the fantasy of a book but I at least like some realism as well. Loved the ending and what is happening with the crew and the dragons.

Violet has been held captive for two years. The violent, demented tiger shifter, Anton who is her tormentor, is also the father of her 5 month old son. But Anton forces Violet to leave the child on the stoop of the Colwoo d Firehouse. This is where grumpy, child hating Jax, lion shifter, alone for the first time, finds the baby. A more clueless bachelor there never was when it comes to babies. But he and "Beast" as he calls the boy survive their first few hours together and bond. Although Jax's attempts at caregiving are as hilarious as they come. Who would think duct tape was a necessary babysitting tool? When Violet returns to get a peek of her son, Jax catches her. And promptly realizes she is his mate. The happiness that ensues for the little family is endearing. The fight between lion and tiger is horrendous, but satisfying to provide a happily ever after. The funny responses from the returning firefighters and their mates and a smooth transition to the next book in the series is well done. This story is a terrific, quick labor of love found.
This was a hoot and a half! Jax very clearly stated his feelings about kids in the previous book. He has his reasons, but nonetheless, he can't stand kids. Any kid. So when Axel, Hadley, Zane, and Gwen all go out of town leaving Jax alone at the firehouse guess what happens? Someone leaves a baby outside. Of the firehouse. With Jax! Ay yi yi. Violet has been trapped in a toxic, abusive relationship with tiger shifter Anton for two years. He's isolated her from her family and completely terrorized her. Now Anton has forced Violet to get rid of her infant son. It's more than she can bear. Violet wants to escape Anton but is frightened because of his shifter nature that he'd find her and make her life even worse.
Violet misses her baby to no end and can't help but sneak back to the firehouse to see if it's safe. When she locks eyes with Jax, she's no longer frightened.
This was another great installment to this series. No dragons in this book, just an unhinged big cat. Great characters.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book and was not compensated in any way.
Jax, the grumpy lion shifter, thought he had five days to do anything he wanted because no one else was around. He was left by himself in the fire station while everyone else did their own thing. But...an abandoned baby appeared in a box at the back door. Of course, Jax hates kids because of growing up in an orphanage and being teased by kids all the time. He called social services but they couldn't come get the baby until Monday and today was Friday. So through some funny trial and errors, he finally figured out how to take care of the baby. Jax named him Beast, because he ate so much. He catches a glimpse of who he thinks is the Beasts mother. Violet was forced to give up her baby by the baby's father. He was a tiger shifter who was losing his humanity. She had been Anton's prisoner for the last two years. Read this cute, funny story to find out what happens. How Jax,'s personality took a total 360 turn. I love all of the Colwood Montana books, but I think this one is my favorite. We only have Draven's book left, but I soooo don't want it to end.
Jax is a very grumpy Lion shifter . His Alpha is in Europe somewhere trying to find his brother the wanna be king. Three of his pack mates are mated now and one has a a kid on the wsy.
Jax thinks that Axel is crazy for wanting a kid. Jax didn't have a great childhood. When Zane and Axel take vacation time and leave him to his own doing thing go weird real fast.
When a baby is left on the doorstep of three fire house can Jax handle it. When he realizes that the Beast (Aka the baby) is kind of nice to have around he starts to get attached. But he soon realizes that the woman hanging around is probably the baby's mother. Even better the lady is the his mate.
Can they live in peace? Why is his mate so panicked ? What will the guys say when they come back? To find out the answers to these questions and any more you can think of, please either buy or borrow this book. I voluntarily agreed to read this and I definitely would give this book 5/5 stars. Remember after reading this book please leave a review for the author she appreciates them. Enjoy
This just may be my favorite book in this series! I absolutely adored this book, and the entire series! I think Jax is my new favorite character at the Colwood Firehouse… well, Axel is a close second. Jax is absolutely hilarious caring for this baby! I don’t remember when I’ve laughed so much. Kim Fox is a freaking genius when it comes to writing shifter romance. Although, I’d almost have to term this particular book as shifter romantic comedy. Either way, the point is the writing is extraordinary. I have loved this series from the first page of the first book, and it impossibly just keeps getting better and better with each subsequent book. This book was witty and endearing, impassioned and intriguing, romantic and inspiring, and absolutely enthralling. I truly cannot recommend it highly enough.
*I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.
Colwood Firehouse Jax by Kim Fox is a 4 star read. Jax is a Lion shifter and had a really bad childhood, as a result of all the teasing he went through in a group home he hates kids, all kids so when a child is abandoned on the steps of the Firehouse when Jax is the only one around he’s not happy, but slowly he begins to bond with the baby he’s named Beast. Violet’s life hasn’t exactly turned out the way she was hoping, stuck in an abusive relationship she sees no way of getting out, she’s forced to abandon her baby at a fire station by the father but she keeps visiting him hoping for the strength to leave her relationship, when she spots Jax she knows there something different about him. Although I enjoyed this story I felt there was something missing that the previous 3 books had but the ending of this one gives great promise that the next book will be better. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
3.75 stars This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and wasn’t once bored. This book was my favourite of this series so far. I loved Jax. I loved how Benjamin changed him. He went from hating kids to actually quite like them. I was amused at how Jax took care of Benjamin whom he named beast. The whole trying to feed him steak was hilarious. I liked that as soon as Jax got up close with Violet, he knew she was his mate. I liked that finding that out made him like beast even more. My heart went out to Violet, I hated Anton but I was glad that Violet got her son to safety. I did see some chemistry between Violet and Jax. I just wanted to see more scenes of them as a couple. I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see Violet reunite with her parents but that is just me being greedy. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a nice read.
Lion shifter, Jax is settling in to enjoy a few days alone. Nobody to tell him what to do and what not to do. All the others from the Colwood firehouse crew are away. He has a reputation as someone who hates kids and never shows his emotions.
Violet is in a severely abusive relationship. The tiger shifter who controls her insisted she give up her son. If she didn't he might have been hurt.
Our hero can't believe how he feels about the surprise he has to deal with.
Our heroine has let fear rule her for too long, it's time to run.
An exciting short story from the Colwood Firehouse series. It should be read in order because the problems the crew face are in order. This one is lots of fun, with laughs, tears and a big cat fight.
I think there can be only one left to complete the series. Start at the beginning and enjoy them all.
Jax was glad to be alone. He'd do just what he wanted and no one could complain. Just him—until he heard a noise. Saw a tiny foot. Heard a little giggle. A KID! What was he supposed to do with a kid? You'll be surprised when you see just how ingenious he is. After you get done laughing that is. This is touching, funny, and sweet. Didn't think you ever put that word with Jax, did you? It's true. The baby happens to have a connection to him you won't believe. Violet just had to make sure her baby was okay. He was alive. More than she could promise with the rabid Tiger Shifter who kept her captive. Will Jax be able to rescue Violet? Could they have a future? I loved this story. Again, who'd have thought Jax would change so much? Enjoy. I sure did. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way
Oh my goodness! This story was such a fun treat to read! Jax, if you've been following the series, isn't that fond of the concept of mates and definitely not of children. There are reasons for this, we find out, but he finds his attitude changes drastically when he's forced to interact with a baby, one on one, all by himself...and what a hoot it was to read about their time together! He sees and finally meets Violet and discovers that she's his one true mate. By this time, he's ready to think about adjusting his previous views on mates and kids and Ms. Fox did a fine job taking him on this journey. Many tough subjects cross the pages of this book, from kidnapping and abuse to abandonment and bullying, but it's done with a sensitive style and quite a few lol moments. I think it's my favorite of the series even though I've really enjoyed each one up to this point.
I been waiting for Jax’s story, I knew it would be an interesting one. And it was, actually it was really really sweet and adorable. However there were moments where I think the storyline could have been a little more drawn out, a little longer but nevertheless I loved the storyline, it was a captivating and entertaining read. I also loved Jax and Violet. Jax has been through a lot in his life but actually his a great guy deep down. Violet is a wreck when you first meet her but the story soon tells us why, she’s also understanding and a good match for Jax. And Beast, the little guy is a cutie and Jax with Beast is really adorable. So overall a very enjoyable read, a favourite of the series. A copy was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book with my honest opinion.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.Jax has the fire station all to himself for a few days and he plans to enjoy it perfectly grilled steaks ,no sharing the remote and hanging out in his underwear.Things don't go anywhere near the way he planned ,a baby is left at the door and since its the weekend he's stuck taking care of the beastly little tune. The baby's mother has been lingering nearby and not only is she very skittish she's his mate.Violet has been through the ringer and though it hurt her worse then anything she left her baby where she hoped he would be safe because keeping him would be anything but with her crazy shifter baby daddy around.Once Violet has had enough she runs to Jax and he will do whatever it takes to protect his mate and her cub. This was a fantastic story and I couldn't put it down turning page after page until the end.
Jax has the firehouse all to himself for four days. He can have the TV on the channel he wants, the sound loud and eat what he wants. He is going out to cook a steak and he see a box on the steps and something is moving, it's a five mouth old baby. Jax hates children and doesn't know what to do except call social services but there is no one there until Monday and today is Friday. This is the sweetest story about not liking something till you are around it, and than falling in love with it. I have enjoyed reading about the men of Colwood Firehouse but this is my favorite story. Kim Fox does a wonderful job weaving together this story of abuse, kidnapping, and falling is love with the right person. I received an ARC and have voluntarily left a review.
I think I have a new favorite Colwood Firehouse guy. Jax is the one who is set to be solo forever, outside of his crew that is. A few days alone in the firehouse changes everything when a baby shows up on his doorstep. Leaving her baby at the firehouse is the last thing Violet wants to do, but a mom will do anything to keep her child safe and the baby's father isn't someone she thinks she can get away from. When she goes back to catch a glimpse of her baby she finds someone else that may help her get the courage to leave the crazy shifter behind when she sees her son with Jax. Jax and Violet make a perfect match and I loved their story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book.
Ohmigod...this is the best Colwood Firehouse book yet!! Jax was so anti everything that you just KNEW when he found his mate, he’d fall the hardest. This is one kickass read, so thank you so very much Kim Fox. ❤️
You’re not going to be able to put this masterfully written romance down once you start. The storyline is awesome; the characters like old friends that you can’t wait to see; interesting plot twists and turns; and one of the best HEAs ever. Don’t waste a moment...hit that 1-Click button now and be swept away! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and and absolutely loved it!!) ❤️❤️
Feeling like the King of the jungle in the firehouse devoid of all other occupants, Jax had a life changing surprise. A close encounter with Karma was what he needed to feel closer to humanity? Feeling no wanted had made him sour all his life but, know he had been given gifts and he was going to fight and protect them with his life. Seems he only needed to open his heart a little. Love and be loved without expectations and the magic did the rest. Abused Violet was in need of a Knight and seemed Jax was next in line. Lovely Jax naivety and how he adapted to the new situation even with his dumb ways that made me laugh a lot. Liked the tender scenes, the great and deadly fight and the hugs.
Jax melted my heart. Jax has previously been built up to be this rough and grumbly guy that broke no arguments about where he stands on relationships and especially kids. Violet broke my heart. What she had to endure was just tearful. To see her find Jax and to find her inner strength was wonderful.
This book is fourth in the series and can be enjoyed as a complete stand-alone without reading the previous books before. However, you'll want to have the best flavor of who Jax is if at least read the previous book in this series. There were moments were this book could have some trigger issues on the topic of abuse.
This was one heart wrenching story. Jax is so happy to be alone. Especially from baby talk and kids. But low and behold someone leaves a baby on his doorstep. It's funny how he improvise feeding and diapers charges using duck tape. Violet's life for two years has been hell, even more so now that she had to give her baby away to save him. Even though she had to check on him and Jax catches her spying. Jax has found his mate and a child. Now he has to protect what is his from a wild beast. This was such an intense and heartbreaking story. Jax really steps up to the plate and changes his attitude about kids and love. I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion
AN ABSOLUTELY AWESOME DELIGHTFUL ROMANCE by Kim Fox , she writes a fast-paced thrilling strong structure storyline and well developed characters in Jax , Beast and Violet and supporting characters in Zane, Gwen , Axel and Hadley in a exquisitely brilliant well written story . The story is drama rom-com adventure emotional rollar coaster provocative captivating sizzling chemistry strength of character hostilities suspense action and captivating from start to finish 💋 💖 . I love and highly recommend this book to everyone 😆 😙 .
This book gave the background into Jax's difficult life and led to an understanding of his hate for kids. All that does a complete 180 degree turn when he finds himself responsible for the life of a 6 month old boy. He assumes all the chores that go with caring for a baby and boy are there some hilarious results and attempts at providing for his "Beast". The dangers are present but are dealt with. Alls well that ends well, HFN. Waiting for the next story that takes the reader to England for the hopeful showdown.
The lion caves….This is great!!! Very entertaining and exciting read. The author picked the perfect plot for this character, the very thing he hates opens his heart to love and his mate. I still think back and laugh at how he took care of the Beast….he’s creative haha!!! So glad to get to know Jax and have more depth to understand his personality. Also happy for his mate who was in desperate need of some bonded love, she’s a survivor though, love the comrade of the firehouse crew and can’t get enough…anxiously awaiting more of this gratifying series!!!!
If you have read any of the books before this one. You know Jax is not into relationships or kids because of his child hood. Well when the rest of the crew was all out doing their own thing for a few days Jax was by himself when a baby was left at the station this is were the story really gets a hold of you as you watch the baby change him and when he sees Violet the mother he relies that she is his mate. You will be laughing at some of the things Jax gets up. Will Jax and Violet get there happy ending. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
