Blast from the Past Payback is a bitch named Maxine. She’s a once-demure law student who’s finally free after serving time for a murder she didn’t commit. Maxine has a score to settle, and she’s now driven to return the favor of destruction. Her kill list, unknowingly financed by her frenemy, Layla, is steadily shrinking with bodies dropping all over NYC.
Scott and Layla West have buried their children one-by-one from what appears to be random accidents. With the top Mafioso distracted by grief and territory battles, a traitor has infiltrated the tight-knit organization. Scott and Layla’s misfortunes only multiply when they realize they’ve been targeted all along.
Nisa Santiago came bursting onto the literary scene in 2009 with her debut title, Cartier Cartel. The book garnered rave reviews and left her readers wanting more. She followed up with the sequel, Return of the Cartier Cartel – which turned into a national bestseller. The Library Journal declared that Santiago’s sequel, [Return of the Cartier Cartel] “Will keep readers hooked to the last chapter.”
Born and raised in Brooklyn, and now living in Harlem, the author is moving at full speed with her writing endeavors. Coined the Duchess of Hop-Hip lit, Santiago humbly admits, “I’m just grateful to be doing what I love as a career and not just a hobby.”
Her latest novel, Bad Apple – The Baddest Chick is slated for an October 2011 release date. The author emphatically states that her decision to start a new series instead of penning part 3 to Cartier Cartel was a brave one. “My readers love Cartier and they wanted more.” Santiago wants her readers to know that she has so many stories to tell and shows no signs of slowing down. Dirty Money Honey is an anthology with her peers, Erica Hilton and Kim K., Melodrama Publishing’s new trinity of authors.
This book started right we’re the first one left off at. Let me tell you these damn characters are do damn dysfunctional that it’s crazy. They all playing mind games with each other sleeping with each other and all the cut throat drama is crazy but I love it in this book. Max ain’t not cool keep thinking she shy and naïve and she will show you where it’s at. Now Layla I can’t stand her nor her damn daughter Lucky. Now Meyers that’s my boy he font a damn he going to say and do what he feels. I’m really enjoying this series can’t wait for the next part to come out.
This book was better than the first one to me.....boy did she leave me on a cliff hanger now I have to wait for parts three and four to come in so I can finish up this series. If you haven't started this series yet I think you should. The lies, drama and deceit will have you flipping pages waiting to see what these crazy folks are going to do next.
So, what you're not going to get is fleshed out characters. Or characters that you even really like. I didn't read the first book. I might go back and check it out. But in the meantime... The premise is really good. Max (short for Maxine) is wronged and does time for a murder her "friend" Layla commits. Layla then moves on to Maxine's boyfriend Scottie. Which is what she wanted all along. They go on to have 6 kids and build a bigger empire. I also liked the fact that Layla and Maxine are a little older. Layla, Scottie, Lucky and Meyer are not very likable. Neither is secondary character Deuce. Whistler, and Bugsy are. I'm on the fence about Maxine. Not that you have to in order to read the book. Nor should you expect to be filled in on certain things. Characters pop up are explained in the moment and then might be gone. Other than that, it's still a page turner. 3.5 stars
The story is starting to get better. I still think Maxine was crazy but now she wants revenge on Scott & Layla brought about due to Layla bragging about her life with Scott. Truthfully that would tick me off when I'm doing time for a crime I did not commit and then you got with my man! Grrr! Three of their kids gone on Layla's done but they don't know it's Maxine so the plot thickens

This book captured my attention from the very beginning. I fell in love with the characters and felt every emotion they felt. Max was my favorite character in this book because I followed her transformation throughout this series. I would recommend this book to anyone. Definitely a real page turner.
Nisa. You did it again This book was a page turner. I couldn't put it down. I like the twist and turns of the plot. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Excellent job!
Layla got what she deserved karma. Scottie and Maxine better watch out they got enemies coming that they don't even know about. Lucky need to be taught a lesson and Whistler need to be the teacher. I couldn't put this book down a page turner.
I definitely enjoyed this book as much as I did the part one I’ll continue to read these books until they aren’t written anymore and even then I’ll reread them love love this book series
HAVING BOUGHT THE ENTIRE SERIES BASED OFF OF BOOK 1 I FEEL THAT MY IMAGINATION OF THE CHARACTERS JUST WON'T/DON'T DO IT JUSTICE. THIS SERIES IS WORTHY OF BEING BROUGHT TO LIFE WITH VISUALS EITHER VIA STREAMING OF BIG SCREEN I LOVED IT FROM START TO FINISH!
Nisa has done it again. For this to be an ongoing series it does not read drawn out AT ALL!! THE FLOW IS THERE THE DRAMA IS THERE!!! The storyline is so well written! Cannot wait to read the next installment!!!
Part Two down and two more Parts to go! Life is a, "Bitch," all around. Where will life end for those involved?? "Beats," me. Come with me and ride along.
Omgggg, all the twists, and turns I just wasn't expecting Meyer to be the father of Penelope's baby. I also, can't figure out Max's plan...bout to start part 3 and I'm bout to order part 4 n 5.

Book 2 was ruthless and revengeful. Maxine did her thing with eliminating anyone one she thought was taking advantage of her weakness. Taking back what belong to her came with consequences....
