Who would want to steal the statue and buy up all the business in Fate Valley anyway?
Review copy kindly provided by the author in exchange for a honest review Ever since I read the first book of the Fate Valley Mysteries, I fell in love with Grove and her writing. She has a way with words and characters. I love she has nick- name each of the leads in her Fate stories to pay homage to their shifter side and their jobs. So I was keen for Candy Bear and a full length novel . As this is the one thing I hated about her books. They were always too short. I always wanting more and luckily for me Grove has finally done this ! Candy Bear introduces us to Ben who runs the family Candy business. He is the typical shifter male wanting to find his mated. Luckily for him , she right around the corner. Samantha has come to solve a mystery which is the common theme in this series. To find truth about her parentage and a place to belong after growing up in foster care. However things aren’t smooth sailing like she planned and she signs up for the famous Mate.com. And the rest is the history Well this book has it usual mystery to solve with it’s twists and turns and never gets old. I loved this one especially as the twists are very special and you won’t’ see it coming. There is a lot to enjoy about this book and I can’t wait for the next book
Samantha is an editor of a History Magazine. She has come from New York to write about Ambrose Morgan, the founder of Fate Valley. A statue of him is being placed in the town square. Samantha grew up an orphan in the foster system because her mom died in child birth. Ben is a bear shifter who owns and runs Fate Valley Confections. This store has been passed down through his family for generations. He left the Navy Seals seven years ago. At that time, he signed up to mate.com. Ben is getting depressed because Valentine's Day is soon and he still hasn't found his mate. Samantha signs up on a whim and instantly regrets it. She sees him and runs away. Ben finally gets to meet her and she realizes that everything she was afraid of wouldn't happen. There is a crime in this story about someone stealing Ambrose's statue. Samantha is also searching to find out about who her family was. So there is quite a bit of investigating going on in this book. Overall I liked this story, I just personally thought Samantha was overly emotional about some information about her great grandparents. But, this is just my opinion. I liked the fact that Ben stood by her and helped her with everything she needed. He was patient and attentive to her throughout the story.
Benjamin had been waiting for years to find his mate. He watched so many of his friends around him settle into happy families. Hope was getting low for him. Until Samatha came to write an article about the historical event in town. She had no family and work was her all. At a low point, she gave in and completed the Ap for Mate.com, knowing nothing would come of it. Until it did. Benjamin made eye contact across the square. She didn't give in right away. He was so hot. Eventually, she gave in and met him. She lived and worked in NYC. He had his candy business in Fate Valley. She had no family experience and was a human. He had grown up in a loving family. What could they have in common? The mystery around town. The history of her family. The strange goings on around town. Could these bring them together or keep them apart? Another story of shifter love. The couple is sweet together, the conflict limited, however, the HEA is what we all look for at the end. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
I was so thrilled when I found out that this, up until now, series of novellas finally had a full length addition... there is so much to like about this series and this book... the author is a wonderful story teller..her imagined world is realistic and detailed..
I love the idea of a website for shifters to find their mates... Ben runs the family Candy business and he finds himself matched with Samantha, a City girl, who is visiting Fate Valley to explore her family roots... I love the developing relationship between these two; Ben has plenty of moves to encourage Samantha to be with him.
Not everything is as sweet as cotton candy in Fate Valley and Ben and Samantha find themselves caught up in a web of deceit when the past is uncovered...this book had a bit of everything with it’s intriguing and romantic plot.. first and foremost, though, this is a sweet love story between two lonely people looking for their HEA...I received an advanced copy of this book from the author
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Benjamin "Ben" Darling and Samantha Cooper. Samantha is in town to write an article about the history of the town's founder Ambrose Morgan. She really wants to know where she comes from. She is an Orphan and has found that somehow Ambrose is a part of her linage. That is all she planned on little did she know that fate had other plans for her. Ben has been waiting for the last 7 years for his mate and he can't believe she is finally here. He wonders though why she runs from him though. Will they find a way to come together or will this be one match that fate may have gotten wrong?
This is an amazing book that shows us that love can be found with patients and understanding. This book will have you hooked from the first word the very end. There are some ups and downs that I really want to tell you about but don't want to ruin it for anyone else. I will say I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Another bear finds his mate in Fate Valley and at the same time has to solve a mystery. Two likeable H’s and an interesting mystery to be solved. The plot with Samantha and her heritage was different. Benjamin has waited 7 long years for his mate to appear on mate.com. He is upset at attending another wedding as a solo and spending another Valentine’s Day alone and I really liked Ben, he was a real sweetheart. All those chocolates and confections Ben kept making made me hungry. Samantha I took a bit of time to warm too only because she came to town with a hidden agenda and she joined mate.com because she was feeling lonely but without really wanting a mate. The first time she saw Ben she ran away. I found that a bit hurtful. My first impression of someone colours my view of them and they have to work harder to get me to like them. I did end up liking her but Ben was my favourite. This is my honest review of this book.
Benjamin is a confectioners and Samantha is a journalist for Historic Times magazine
Samantha is an orphan shuffled from foster home to foster home. She had a DNA test run that indicated that she was somehow related to Ambrose Morgan, through engineer who flooded the valley too create the Lake of the Fate, and the town hero. A statue was raised one day and stolen the same night. Samantha interviewed the head of the group that raised the funds for three statue who informed her that she should interview the great-great granddaughter of Ambrose Morgan. The woman told her the family rumor was that Ambrose had an affair with the maid while his wife was dying of cancer. It was a time when weAlthy white men had affairs with the help. Now Samantha has to learn the truth, and she and Benjamin seek to learn who stole the statue and why. It is a great story of solving two mysterious while falling above.
Yes, I meant the play on words! I will admit that I had a harder time getting into this story than the others. I loved Candy Bear, but was not happy with how conflicted Samantha was for the first 1/3 of the story. However, it made more sense the farther into the story that I got. I think that there was more mystery in this story with more light-weight action than the others so far.
A fast pace, a more conflicted and intense tone, a character oriented storyline with more action, steamy scenes and vivid characters really move the story along. There were some mix-ups with names that did make me stop and think til I figured out who was meant. You can read the Fate Mountain series first, but can start with this one and skip that. This series takes place about 25 years after Fate Mountain. Do read these in order, though. That works the best. Enjoy!
A lovely story with two souls looking for something that it’s missing in their lives. Benjamin Darling didn’t want to be alone anymore. He needed to find his fated mate and Samantha Cooper, a girl from the foster system, needed to discover her own identity and know there was someone there for her. Know her relationship to Ambrose Valentine Morgan, the town founder, was a matter of utter importance for Samantha and with Candy Bear supporting her, she was up to unveil the mystery. Liked the way Benjamin and Samantha complement each other and worked together. Sweet Benjamin knew how to conquer his mate and strength their bond. The story had intriguing characters, some suspense, amusing situations, romance, interesting scenes with entertaining descriptions of the town and the founding and the hot passion.
I loved this mystery about finding truth about your heritage and the disappearance of the founders statue. This story held my interest and was hard to put down. It is a great mystery with lots of twists and turns. Orphan and magazine journalist Samantha Cooper is in Fate Valley to do an article on the founder of the town.In a moment of loneliness she signs up for mate.com and is matched with Candy Bear. Ben, is the candy bear, has been waiting seven years to find his match. Just before Valentine's Day he has success by the name of Samantha Cooper. Will Ben and Samantha solve the mystery of the missing statue? Will Samantha get the answer she is looking for? I give this story 5 stars. "I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy without pressure to do so".
Another cozy mystery solved. Candy Bear has been waiting for 7 years to be matched on mate.com wondering if he will ever get that 100% match. Samantha is a historian who comes to do a story for the historical magazine she works for on Ambrose Morgan but she also has a secret agenda. When the statue of Ambrose Morgan the founder of the town gets stolen it leads Samantha on a voyage of discovery. In a lonely moment she signs up for mate.com and suddenly her life is full of dreams she didn't know she had.
I just love Ms. Grove's stories even though sometimes I wish they were longer they always transport me away from reality which sometimes is a great thing. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, strong alpha bears and fated love stories then grab a copy.
I voluntarily read an advance copy and have not been compensated in any way for this opinion.
This book has a lot going on but its story is fantastic I couldn’t put book down its about Ben candy bear valentines is close and he is still on his own no fated match yet. ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! Samantha came to Fate Valley to learn about her past. In doing so, she found her future. Ben or Candy Bear has been waiting a long time for this fated mate. He checks "Mate.com" everyday waiting for that day when "100%" match will show up on the screen. Samantha has a job in New York City. She is not sure if she wants to settle down on Fate Valley. Ben is besides himself. His fated mate is here in Fate Valley. As Ben is trying to woo Samantha, there is a mystery a foot The statue of the founding father is missing. It was such a sweet story. The solving of the mystery/crime just enhanced the story. Loved the storytelling + the characters! I can't wait for the next installment.
Candy Bear introduces us to Ben Darling who runs his family Candy business. Like all his friends Benjamin signed up with mate.com and even though he’s had to wait seven years to be matched, his mate is right across the way. Samantha Cooper came to Fate valley to find out how she is related to the town founder and to write a story about him. While she signs up with mate.com, she wasn’t expecting to find her match nor love.
This book has its usual mystery to solve with very interesting twists and turns that never seems to get old, this is also a story of trying to find one’s roots. Do yourself a favor and pick up this story. This story can be read on its own, but you would be doing yourself a favor by reading any or all of the Fate Valley books by this author. Enjoy the story.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.Benjamin longs to find his mate and have the love all this friends are finding . Once again, Scarlett Grove gives us a series that we can escape into, continuing on with the Fate Mountain area, and a younger generation to fall in love with. Her style will captivate you and draw you into the lives of her characters, wishing you were there to live in their places. Her imagination never ceases to amaze me, as she is able to put it all down in a way that is easy to follow, each episode with their own happy ever after, yet opening the door for the next couple to rush in and sweep you off your feet. Loved this book! I was given a copy of this book, and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.
Another great read in the FATE VALLEY MYSTERIES series. Ben has waited 7 years to find his fated mated on mate.com. He doesn't want to spend another Valentine's Day alone. He is Candy Bear and owns & operates the confectionary shop. Samantha is in town to write a story and also to do a little digging into her past. She finally gives in & signs up on mate.com but runs away when her & Ben's eyes meet the 1st time. Together they dig up more than just her past. There's a new shifter in town. This is my honest review for a book given to me by the author.
First off, I love Fate Valley Mysteries. The story and the mystery were really good and I enjoyed all of it. Samantha is a great character with strength and determination. Benjamin is just a sweetheart, so romantic. I was intrigued and captivated, up until the mystery was solved. I thought that the outcome at the courthouse was far-fetched. It was great that Samantha gained a family and found somewhere she feels a part of. I look forward to reading more Fate Valley Mysteries. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Candy Bear ben gets a turn in this series, when he meets Samantha a new comer to Fate Valley, she is in town fr on New York, to cover the founding father’s statue celebration. Things get going when said statue is stolen the first night after installation. Samantha is on it, not only to discover who’s done it for her newspaper but to see what is her relation to the founding father, if any.
I loved this mystery, it was well developed and I specially loves the turning scene and how it works for humans, very unique.

A match made in heaven, or is it? This story is hot, Sweet, sexy, and delicious! Orphan journalist Samantha Cooper is on a quest to find out about her family, but gets sidetracked by a big hunk of a bear shifter, Benjamin Darling. Ben has been looking for love for years, and now that he has met his mate, nothing will stop him from winning her love, not even a mystery.
I liked this book from the first page . Samantha Cooper came to Fate valley to find out how she is related to the town founder and to write a story about him. Sam is an orphan who never knew her family. Being lonely she signs up for Mate com. the dating site on Valentine's day , Benjamin Darling ( Candy Bear ) is her fated mate. This was a story of trying to find ones root, a shifter that was not known about, and a mystery about the town. Well worth reading.
The Candy Bear really wants to meet his mate. He has waited so long. When a visitor to town turns out to be his match, he will work hard to convince her to stay.
This is a fun series and I have enjoyed the other books in the series. The shifters use the match app to find their mates. In this case, you have a woman who is there for a very different reason. She finds her mate hard to resist. They make a great couple.
Fourth book in the series, but can easily be read as a stand alone. This book and series are all fun and light hearted. I love the mystery of the book and how the two main characters get to know each other. The romance is definitely there, especially with this one falling around Valentines in the book. You will definitely want some chocolate by the end.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
Such a sweet story. Samantha comes to town to discover her roots. Candy Bear is ready to settle down and spend the read of his life with his fated mate. After the statue of Ambrose Morgan goes missing, these two come together to develop their relationship and end of working to solve the mystery of who took the statue. Another wonderful addition this small town of shifters.
Another cute book about Fate Valley shifters. This time it is Candy Bear who is longing for a mate. Samantha Cooper is a journalist with an Historical Magazine, in Fate Valley for the dedication of a statue of the founder. But there is more to her visit than that and there is a lot more going on than anybody realises! The Fate Valley books always seem to deliver.
This is just my opinion but something about this book just didn't do it for me. Things were just to pat. Everything seem to just fall into place. I got to the point where I was just skimming some of the chapters. Maybe because I have read a lot shifters book and this one was just weird. It left me with alot of questions and no answers. And some of the scenes where unreal even in a shifter world.
Wow! Awesome book! Love all the Fate Valley seies, they are so unique! Full of adventure, mystery, mayhem, drama, danger, and a hot shifter. She came to write a story, and to search for her family. Solving the mystery of the theft, leads her to solving the mystery of her family. All of her life she just wanted to be loved, belong, and have someone care for her. Finding her true love, her mate, leads her to finding her family, friends, and a home. loved it!
