3.5 stars I really liked Tex and Griffin, they had chemistry and they challenged each other, which I like in a relationship. Once more, UST and angst well balanced with sweetness; Beau Brown is turning into a favorite author for me when I want something sweet and relaxing.
A sweet country read, 4.5 I received this book from the author for an honest opinion. This is the first book I've read from this author and though it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed this book it was a sweet heart warming read with characters I loved and free flowing engaging writing that sucked you into the sweet water town. Griff an omega who is down on his luck and in dire straits after escaping the abusive alpha who has been holding him captive since the very moment he discovered he's pregnant. Escaping he's been living rough and trying to stay under the radar of the alpha and wanting to get as far away as possible. Stealing a truck may be the most best thing he's done since its brings Tex into his life though at the time he doesn't think so. Tex is incredulous when he discovers the would be thief is pregnant, offering him a place to stay till the babies born is impulsive but he feels he just has to. Along the way they gradually start to feel for each other but its not all plain sailing with past hurts coming to the forefront, miscommunication and a deranged alpha on the loose. I enjoyed Tex''s compassionate nature to help those less fortunate, he was a dependable caring alpha. Griffin on the other hand was a completely different kettle of fish being feisty and distrustful (understandably) and jaded tarring all alphas the same. The banter between them was funny and I enjoyed there interaction between them. Tex's mother was also a nice but short appearance character who I liked. I would of liked a little more interaction between Tex's family and Griffin and to find out who let it slip to Griffs abusive alpha that he was in the hospital but overall it was a sweet read that concentrated mostly on how they finally accept the relationship that is forming between them. I'm looking forward to possibly getting shawns happy ever after maybe even with Dr Prost. Nice book cover also.
This was book 3 in "The Omegas of Sweet Water, Texas" series. Tex Greerson who we met in book 2 is a playboy alpha while loading grain he finds a young omega trying to steal his truck and as he gets closer he sees that he is pregnant. Omega Griffin "Griff" is on the run trying to get away from his babies alpha dad who kidnapped him and who was abusing him. Tex offers him a place to live but Griff doesn't trust people he has been hurt and abused he has never stayed in one place for more than a month never getting close to anyone. This was a good read but I wanted more. When Griff goes into labor Tex mother Sharon takes him to the hospital where the other alpha shows up but Tex doesn't allow him to get to Griff or the baby. These two end up having sex and Tex claims him and its a shock to them both. When Hunter and Jake sets Tex up on a blind date Griff is jealous because he wants Tex but doesn't want to admit it he still wants to run from his feelings. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.
Accepting that you need help is one thing, but actually accepting that help is a whole other can of worms. Griff doesn't trust easily, especially not a cocky, attractive alpha. That's what got him into his current situation. And when Tex doesn't do anything but offer him a room, food, clothes, safety, and genuine warmth in return for trying to steal his truck and snarking at him each time he opens his mouth? There's got to be an ulterior motive, he just knows it. But as he softens he realizes that he wants those ulterior motives except as more time that passes he's slowly seeing that Tex might just not have those. Who would want a snarky omega pregnant with another alpha's kid?
Little does he know Tex really does have desires for Griff. He just wants him to feel safe, protected, clean, warm, and fed more than he wants to get him in bed. He's had his share of omegas but hasn't had any that inspired him to keep them. No one before has brought out his protective instinct or inflamed his desire the way this scraggly omega on the run has. The more time he spends getting to know him the more he realizes he just might like him, might want to make his stay more permanent.
Tex had a lot to offer Griff and Griff could have been just the fiery companion Tex needs to keep him in line and interested. When their rough edges are worn down by their prolonged proximity we see new sides to both of them that give us a more complete picture of who these men are, why they are the way they are, and just how great they could be together.
I was frustrated by their inability to communicate. They talked around all the important feelings stuff and it made for misunderstandings, bitterness, and hurt. And the bar scene when Tex knows what Griff is to him, no matter how prickly Griff is, was just wrong. Totally wanted to smack him for saying and doing what he did. I get why Griff holds back but to be so vehemently against claiming and making sure Tex knows that but to be upset when Tex respects him isn't okay either. I think that the relationship angst was a bit too high for such a short story, especially when there's other drama threatening to separate them and endangering Griff and his daughter.
And when it came to the external drama it was like fireworks. Big boom only to instantly fade. The confrontations were both sudden and intense only to be dealt with quickly. While that could have been comforting, it didn't feel right for the story either. A guy who has a history of abusing omegas isn't really a flash-in-the-pan kind of guy and I was expecting a bit more from that plot point.
The story overall was good, though, because the writing was clear and gave us a great picture of the two men. Passion was present and very intense. Their claiming scene was hot but with the angsting before and especially after I was disappointed in the men. By the time we get to their confessions I had mixed feelings of their compatibility but can't deny that I'm a lover of honest hearts. With a slightly longer story and a more streamlined plot I think this could have been a great story. As is it was a nice story with great chemistry, humorous bickering (to a point), a surprising amount of angst, and an awesome mom and friends to carry both men through and make them see beyond themselves.
“I don’t have to stay here, right? I’m not trapped am I?”
At first I intended on giving this sweet story 4 (4.5) Stars and I had to actually stop and think... “why not give it 5 Stars?” For a non-shifter mpreg romance it was on the lighter side of drama for my usual reads, but it still hit all my main musts in a story.
Griff (omega) and Tex (Alpha) are both really great men. Unfortunately, Griff didn't have the best upbringing and definitely made some mistakes along the way. Especially the one that had him trying to steal Tex's truck.
For the first time it seams Griff may get to know what genuine kindness feels like.
“I don’t need something in return just for being kind.”
Tex is a real southerner and when he sees Griff in need, he chooses to help.
He pulled his blond brows together. “Nobody does something for nothing.” I flipped the eggs and shrugged. “I do.”
I enjoyed that Griff didn't just cave and fall all over the first nice Alpha, and that he actually struggled with all the kindness given to him.
“You can relax, Griff. I’m not going to hurt you.” He winced and blew out a breath. “Old habits die hard.”
We all know its true, but thankfully Tex is patient. He also gets some great advice on what he needs to do to hopefully show Griff that not everyone is bad and that settling somewhere can be worth it.
I pulled back and put one finger under his chin. “You need to stop running.”
Anyone who reads shifters know how the insta-love mating pull can be and I found it nice that it wasnt “instant” here. Tex really just wanted Griff to be happy even if Tex himself was miserable. Griff just needed to be shown what its like to really be cared for before changing his attitude of, “Love. What a crock.”
Thankfully this is a HEA. Though it was a little cheesy at the end, I found I was still smiling even when I started writing this review. Because of that I decided this definitely deserved 5 Stars. I'm sure I will enjoy the other books by this author as I do plan to read the rest in this series.
Plot: 4.5 Ending: 5 Character Development: 5 Heat: 4.5
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
Wrangling his Trust How can shattered trust be earned when the recipient has a pattern of the important people in his life letting him down? Even strangers taking advantage of his Omega status. So when he truly needs help who can he turn to when he's only been able to rely on himself? But now he has someone dependent on him for care - so now he's in a quandary. Lost trust is so hard to regain.
This Omega is extremely suspicious when an Alpha offers a great deal of help with no strings attached. There are always strings / ulterior motives / hidden expectations. What's the catch? No he just can't take the Alpha's word, though the more time they spend together he finds he wants to believe in the Alpha. Even when they both drive each other crazy with wanting and to protect & being trusted contrasts with "I'm independent. I don't need help & if I did how could I possibly trust you?! There's some very snappy dialogue which makes the book even more entertaining.
The world is full of angels. Tex is popular with the Omegas. He lets them know his intentions, so theres no misunderstandings. He occasionally dwells on wanting a companion to share his life. He is out on errands when he is victim of an attempted carjacking. On impulse, he takes the carjacker home. Griff, was desperate, hungry, 7 months pregnant and determined to keep is baby safe and getting out of town. He was wary and distrustful of Tex, but his baby needed more. Tex made an offor he was considering that would ensure safety for his baby for the moment. Is he safe? Is Tex a good guy. Will his abusive ex find him? Does Griff, find his forever home? Is his baby okay after spending months on the streets? These two are adorable. Tex's Mom is a peach. Good story, nicely done!
This is really an excellent story with Declan and Ash, two best friends, going on an adventure in life. Declan has changed over the years as his job beats him down. Ash has worried about his as his best friends sweet, gentle spirit has been disappearing and black circles under his eyes has taken their place. Getting an inheritance from an obscure uncle, Declan must marry before he can take over the ownership to the used book store in a sweet gay friendly town. Ash offers himself up and this starts a romance and love growing between them. Problem is Ash is gay, but Declan is not...or he thinks he's not. Time will tell. I would recommend this book to anyone to read.
This is the first book I read by this author, and I will be reading more, that's for sure.
A sweet story set in the Omegaverse (no shifters!) with Griff, a pregnant Omega on the run from an abusive Alpha, and Tex, a caring and kind Alpha who is set in helping him.
They embark on a sometimes difficult, sometimes hilarious journey to find love and their HEA, with a supportive cast of friends helping along the way. A very enjoyable read for those who love the genre, this is a book with a little bit of everything: romance, drama, some danger and adventure, and some steamy scenes that make it a quick and satisfying read.
This was a short, fun and sweet story that I really enjoyed. Tex and Griff do not start out well as they meet when Griff attempts to steal Tex's truck. Griff is desperate, he is pregnant, starving and on the run from his abusive alpha. Tex steps in and offers him a place to stay but they are both surprised when they cannot fight the attraction they feel towards each other. They have to learn to communicate if they want to have a lasting relationship. The ending was great and I look forward to reading the next book in this entertaining series. I was given an ARC to review by the author.
This is a sweet love story set in the Omegaverse. One snarky omega on the run from the abusive alpha sperm donor of his baby and one sweet, kind, caring alpha cowboy to the rescue. A little drama and a little angst with a whole lot of romance. Sweet and fluffy and a happy way to pass an hour or two. It made my heart smile. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a review.
Love this sweet alpha/omega love story. The storyline captivated me right from the beginning and kept me glued to its pages until the very end. Tex, an alpha, stops Griff, a pregnant omega on the run from an abusive alpha, from stealing his truck and decides to help Griff. The connection and chemistry are there but can Griff overcome his past experiences and learn to trust Tex. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
4.5 stars. Tex is a terrific hero. Strong, generous, protective and kind. He takes Griff in, giving him shelter and support. Griff has been so beat down that he's a very prickly guy. He's never been shown true love asks acceptance until Tex. These two go round and round until he takes a stand and tells Griff how he feels about him and gives Griff an opportunity a chance at love and a family. An absolutely lovely ending. Adult read
Loved Tex and Griff’s story. I’m so happy Tex got his happily ever after. Even though it wasn’t easy. Griff wasn’t an easy omega to deal with. Especially when all he wanted to do was run from his problems.
Tex wasn’t the easiest Alpha either. He is too much of a softy and needed to assert some dominance. And that changed everything! Loved this book and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Both Tex and Griff both have decisions to make. 1) Griff decided he going to steal Tex’s truck 2) Tex decides to allow him to stay with him a while 3) Griff and Tex have to decide if their attraction is worth risking their friendship And there are so many more decisions they need to decide. This book is a sweet, caring, thoughtful and loving read. Yes, it’s worth the time. I give it a 5 star ⭐️ rating. 💜❤️
Well written characters and story. Read it in one sitting not even letting eating dinner stop me. Looking forward to reading more books by this author in the future. There were a couple secondary characters introduced in this book that could use their own story.
Finding love for Griff and Tex is a twisty journey that will keep you reading from cover to cover in one sitting. This romance is wonderfully written and the characters are so nicely developed.
I love this series and this is a wonderful addition to it!
I desperately wanted to give four stars, primarily because I liked Tex. But Griff kept giving me so much grief, I can only compromise with 3stars. He became so frustratingly irritating after he was claimed. I tried so hard to understand his character, but I can only take so much drama in the books I read. He was just too much for me.
I really loved this book but notice a few mistakes one of which was that when Tex and Griff first mated Tex knotted and said he felt his wolf which confused me as this is suppose to be non shifter series. On a good note i am glad Griff settled down andrealised he could be happy that not all alphas are pigs like his ex.
Even though I hadn't much luck with the first two books, I really enjoyed Tex. However, pretty much everything I liked about Tex in the second book gets thrown aside so he can be a judgemental prick, like the rest of the alphas in this series.
Also, a lot of editing issues in the first two chapters.
This is the first book I've read by Beau Brown. It is a sweet paranormal about an unassuming alpha and a cranky omega who figure out they're soul mates and destined to fall in love. Which is really good since the omega is pregnant by an abusive alpha and really needs a hero!
Loved all the books in this series but I want to know what happened to the other book. At the end of book 2 it has a different book as the third and this book being number 4 . What ever happened to the other book?
I was given this story by the author for an honest review....
This is the first time I have read anything by this author, and I will honestly say I was quite surprised. It is mpreg story but there is no shifting in it, which to me is usually a no go story. However the author wrote it with just enough sparks, that I had a blast reading it.
A sexy little omega and a stolen truck, what more could an alpha wonder about. To top it off, this little omega is pregnant. Just the right amount of sarcastic abilities and this omega could take over the world. And he has a sexy alpha who is also a cowboy protecting him. What more could a reader ask for.
It is not a long story, but there is just enough meat to it to keep my attention captured. I had a lot of fun reading it and will need to check out the previous books for this series.
