MC1 is a blind human while MC2 is a yokai without eyes, nose or mouth who has been shunned by other fellow yokai and has been wearing a mask for years to hide his face. I learned a lot about blind people from this book, like how well they can function with the aids of technology in the modern society despite being blind, but also the limitations that still exist like buying a sandwich or rice ball from convenient store is always a crapshoot for MC1 because he can’t know the flavors by touch, or he needs to rely on his coworkers to sign paper documents. His positive and easygoing attitude is what impressed me the most in this book.
