You never know how the people you meet when you go off to school can impact your life. That’s certainly the case for (Trey Ramirez, Kharisma Kinkaid, Pharaoh Kinkaid, Phoenix Ramirez, Irelynn Bridges, King Giovani, and Xavier Jones) who met and became friends, and more, while attending Springfield College. As the years pass those relationships and bonds deepen in ways that not everyone is aware of. Until those secrets start to come to light. Kharisma has been married to Pharaoh for six years. After having only dated a few months, they tied the knot in a small ceremony because they found out they were pregnant with their beautiful daughter, Jada. And while Pharaoh is the most important person in Kharisma’s world, what she doesn’t know is that she comes third in his life after his daughter and his mistress, her friend and college roommate, Phoenix. Pharaoh has been promising Phoenix for years that, when the time is right, he will divorce his wife, so they can be together. But with suspicions building about their involvement will Pharaoh come clean before time runs out? Phoenix and Trey are newlyweds and while Trey married for love, his wife used marriage as a tactic to make Pharaoh jealous and possibly speed up the process of him leaving his own wife. Unaware that he plays second fiddle to his good friend, Trey begins to pressure Phoenix about giving him the one thing he has been longing for: a child. Will Phoenix grant his wish even though she knows this could complicate things even more for her and Pharaoh? Even though she didn’t go to school with the rest of them, Irelynn is deeply in love with her long-term boyfriend, Xavier. She loves him from deep down in her soul and he loves her just as much. However, having grown up around nothing but failed relationships as a child he has put up certain boundaries that he is not willing to cross. So, what’s a girl to do when she has compromised on as much as her dignity will allow her to but the man she loves won’t budge? Is she willing to lose herself just to keep him close? Or will Xavier finally wake up and smell the compromise before he loses his queen for good? King is several years older than the rest of his friends but was integrated into the group when he met them through his father, a professor at the college they attended. Relocating to Boston King chose to take a different path in life by remaining single and focusing on his career, but whenever his friends need him he is only a call away. So, when things go downhill, it only makes sense that he is the one to help them through their trials and tribulations. But will he be able to help his friends this time or just get dragged into the drama?
I was not expecting everything that happened in this book! The disrespect and secrets that were revealed had me bouta explode! Drama filled from beginning to end I promise anyone that read this mouth will be hung open throughout the entire book! A slight few errors but overall very good! My first book by this author but definitely won’t be my last.
This book was full of scandalous people! From the very beginning until the end there was non stop drama. The secrets that came out had me shocked, I was sure I knew the ending. This was also my first read by the author, but it will not be my last.
Phoenix and Pharoah was playing with a treacherous fire. One of them, if not both, is bound to get burnt! Neither one of them are shit and probably deserves each other. Everything about what they are doing, are wrong on so many levels. This little simple, triffling, ignorant ass heffa... (Breathe Tajuana), Yo Phoenix better be glad she had Iree as a friend. I guarantee you! If I was Iree, Phoenix would disown me as a friend for life, after I had finished laying her out about her foul and selfish ways. You know what? Let stop lying because I don't even fool with people like Phoenix, so I could never be her friend. But. Like. Damn! How much are you willing to do to get with a taken man sis? And let's not forget y'all both are married! Trey, he took it too easy on them, but maybe he just became exhausted from dealing with it all. Iree hung there, I would have missed out. Ain't no way I could have dealt with X and his ways. Kharisma, chileeeee😒😒😒 Mannnn look this whole book was just messy and triffling AF. And I loved every bit of it😂😂😂 4.5* Elle, Tiffany was right... You are rachet Sis! 😂
I swear on everything Phoenix and Pharaoh got on my last damn nerve. Phoenix didn't seem to have a care in the world and her way of thinking was awful. Pharaoh enjoyed dishing out the pain but couldn't accept it. He didn't deserve Kharisma but her secrets left me smiling hard because karma came through hard. I liked Irelynn and how she finally got enough of playing around with Xavier. I didn't agree with how she thought to handle her situation but I'm glad Xavier came around and didn't allow her to make a mistake. There wasn't much with King but from the moments he appeared I could tell he was a good dude. I felt bad for Trey because the truth was always in his face but he was still blind to the obvious. Pharaoh had to learn the hard way that the one he was constantly creeping with wasn't truly the one for him. Kharisma had to come to the realization that her actions complicated things for so many around her but through it all hope wasn't lost. I think just about everyone wished they hadn't met Phoenix's trifling, self-centered ass!
First off let me comment Shadow for being an outstanding father, no matter what. Now as a man he ain't what. Matter if fact everybody in the book had me got. I was really surprised a Kharisma. He whole back story threw me for a loop. It's all Shadow fault though. Trey was an innocent shoulder to cry on. Phoenix, now this heifer just didn't care about anything or anybody. How you jealous of a kid. Everyone had selfish moments but the secrets that are revealed.....SMH. Those are what kept me into the story. What really stuck out was Irelynn, she found herself and did what she needed. Xavier was not about to hold her back, she stood firm in her word. I'm proud of her for that. I really enjoyed this one, this book was a whole trip and some.
Wow the things some people do and usually for lust not love! Phoenix was a trip as well as Shadow! I felt so bad for Trey! The ending was great. My only complaint too many grammatical errors! Editing definitely needed! Overall a great story of karma coming to bite you in the butt when you purposely hurt someone for selfish reasons. King and Karisma wow!!!!
This was a great read. Phoenix was so selfish and Shadow was content with both worlds. Even though he was with Karisma for his daughter I still feel that he was being selfish as well. Trey was too good for Phoenix plus he was so unappreciated by her. I loved the storyline and it shows that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
Intriguing storyline filled with a lot of surprises, and a few lessons. Character development written in a way that you will be able to relate to all the different emotions the characters go through. A five star read I would recommend if you’re looking for a well thought out, unpredictable storyline.
Drama this was so good. I wish it didnt end or it was longer. I would love to read more about these characters , this was a realistic book no dropping name brands or driving big expensive cars, just a book a regular ppl . Good job
I really enjoyed reading this book. It grab your attention from the first page. Phoenix and Pharaoh deserved each other. I felt so sorry for Trey. I have told everyone that I know about this book.
By the time I finished this story, Phoenix made me want to drop kick her ass. As they say the grass is not always greener on the other side. I love when a story have me emotional. It felt like I was watching a movie. Great job Elle.
I was rooting for Kharisma. But she turned out to be just like Shadow. I wonder what happen with Shawow and Phoenix. Xavier was a good guy. I lawd me King. Jada needs to know the truth. King and Kharisma should be together.
Now that was good! So many twists & turns. A few unexpected & a few predictable, but still good nonetheless! Phoenix was annoying af. In the end, she got what she deserved.
Good drama throughout. Pharaoh & Phoenix were two of a kind. Kharisma really worked her way through the crew. These characters & the content made the title come to life. Good read
Elle is one of the author's that NEVER disappoints with her books. This one had so much drama it had my head spinning! Phoenix & Pharoah was doing too doggone much! Kharisma wasn't as wholesome as everyone thought she was. When King was introduced, they did seem a little chummy. I felt bad for Trey on both accounts. Irelynn & Xavier were meant to be. He was just fighting the inevitable.
