Treasure series IS a treasure

I rarely leave a review for books I don't care for. It's just not worth it as others might enjoy it. But when I find a book or series I think is well done, I don't hesitate. This whole series is totally stand- alone stories but with most of the same characters as well as a few new ones. The way the author varies the stories is great as others I've read just seem to change names but tend to be formulaic.
The editing is good and nothing graphic is included for those who object to that.
Both Ms Hubbard's series are excellent and I look forward to reading more from her.

The last book to date in a series about a young woman's s journey of discovery about themselves and secrets of others.

Andrew's business Another Man's Treasure, cataloging and selling estates, leads her to discover family secrets that someone always wants to hide. Newly marked to her policeman husband, she finds herself involved in a mystery that puts not only herself but her helper Th in danger. This author gives insight to the fact that people have many layers. Some shaped by life, some by heredity. Crossing racial and economical barriers, this book is a can't put it down, may have to stay up all night read.

I've read all the Palmryton Estate mysteries and loved them all. Well written that you feel like you are part of the gang. It's like you're right there experiencing it all! I love all the characters and I can't wait until the next book comes out! I can't even say I liked one better than the other because they are all fantastic! These are my kinds of mysteries. Old things found with stories behind them. Secrets and old mysteries!

Smart and attention grabbing

So sad I have to wait for the next book to be published. I just finished binge reading this series. Once I read the first book I was hooked. These books grab my interest right away, the character are very real and the plot is never dull. I am not trying to guess ahead of time who did what and when, I just get caught up in the story. Looking forward to more.

Great series......

As a whole i enjoyed this series. I fell in love with, and became attached to, the main characters. Especially Audrey. I have no idea if this is the final book but if it is I hate to see it end.

Treasure In Exile, to me, was like the first book (Another Man's Treasure) in that it was a very good story which kept me turning the pages but it didn't have that sense of creepiness and suspense that gripped me in books 2 & 3.

I was disappointed the book started off with Audrey and Sean already married, that we're not treated to a wedding scene. Personally i would've loved to see it included. After following their relationship so closely I feel like I've been gipped (or is it jipped? 😕). I also missed Jill's presence. I thought she'd always be part of the story somehow. That being said I immediately liked the addition of Donna. She fits right in with Audrey and Ty.

I do hope there'll be at least one more book. After spending so much time with Audrey and later on with Sean, I always envisioned the series ending with them having a child.
*crosses fingers that S.W. Hubbard will write another installment*

I highly recommend this series. It will draw you in and you'll find yourself caring for the main characters as if they're family.

Moving and engaging

At first I was surprised about Audrey being married. But immediately I was hooked reading about what is historically shocking but in today’s news cycle, not surprising. Each book in this series is better than the last. The characters are easy to like and cheer for. Bravo!

" Like Black Friday at Walmart's, but with antiques."
Having read, and very much enjoyed, the three earlier Palmyrton Estate Sale stories, when I was offered a complimentary copy of Treasure in Exile, via Goodreads, I accepted with alacrity. And I was not disappointed.

Audrey, now married to a police officer, has a new assistant to help her and Ty with the house sales and with two potentially lucrative clearances in prospect, things were beginning to look up financially. But, of course, things do not go as smoothly as she had hoped when the Taite house, former home of the very wealthy and reclusive widow, begins to give up secrets long hidden and Ty's family's past returns to threaten them as well.

Whilst the mysteries within each story are exciting and suspenseful, the real joy of the Treasure books is in the characters involves. Each one, even the minor protagonists, is so well drawn they become real people to like, or not, according to the reader's own subjective view. But every one is very human, with their own foibles, ambitions and prejudices. Even though the book always adhers closely to the plot line, the reader nevertheless cannot help but be drawn into a tentative relationship with the people as well as the mystery.

Enhancing the entire experience, narrator Janelle Tedesco returns again to become Audrey. Her pace and intonation beautifully capture her excitements, fears and general care for her agency and friends. The other protagonists are not ignored either, each being skillfully and separately voiced. Her performance turns an already excellent book into a delight.

Although this is the fourth book in the series, Treasure in Exile, like it's three predecessors, is entirely stand alone. Without graphic violence, sex scenes or swearing, but still packing a considerable punch in the thrills department, it is suitable for everyone. And highly recommended.

Audrey Nealon and her team from her estate business Another Man’s Treasure take us back to Palmyrton, New Jersey, in Treasure in Exile by S.W. Hubbard. After a year of marriage to her detective husband Sean, who volunteers at the Rosa Parks Community Centre coaching the basketball team, Audrey seeks to help the centre get more funding. In addition to Sean, Audrey’s father, a top mathematics professor at Rutgers University, volunteers teaching chess there and met his second wife there, another volunteer at the Parks Centre. Audrey’s father has decided to retire from Rutgers and is excited about his idea to create a new class for youth showing them how high level math applies to real life. The problem is that the computer teacher doesn’t want to share his computers, and the center can’t afford to fix their aging facilities, let alone buy new computers just for Audrey’s dad to use in his proposed class. Thus, Audrey talks Sean into going to a high class fundraiser for the center hosted by the rich socialite Loretta Bostwick. But during the night, Loretta comes flying off the balcony, killing her, but since it is evident that she didn’t fall by accident, did she jump, or was she pushed?

Ever since I knew there was another "Treasure" in the making, I waited for its release as audio book. I've listened to, and enjoyed all previous books in the series, so I was looking forward to returning to what feels like family, or good friends.
I was not disappointed! Even though there is a new addition to the staff (and she nearly feels too good to be true) while one member has left for good -- they all worked perfectly together.
Once again, the characters, the language, everything is absolutely believable.
The characters have developed yet more, which is great.
I'm glad I started at volume one when I did, because if I had to do it now, the fact that there are meanwhile four volumes might have put me off through the sheer number. However, I sincerely hope we'll get at least a couple more because I so enjoy the series.

Janelle Tedesco nailed it again. Just how she manages to get the characters so consistent with the previous books is a mystery, but I'm sure it requires a lot of work and preparation.
I listened to this in record time, only stopping when real life absolutely required it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, and I chose to willingly post an honest review.

I absolutely love this series, and this latest book is no exception. The book is written incredibly well and is gripping to the last moment. I love the different characters and find that they are so well-developed. I get upset when I finish books in this series because it means I need to wait for a new one to be written. The narrator for the audiobook is incredible, too. She uses such distinctive voices for each character and really brings the story to life. I highly recommend this book (and the rest in the series) for any lover of mysteries.

**This review is for the audiobook on Audible.**

Treasure in Exile: Palmyrton Estate Sale Mystery Series, Book 4 by S.W. Hubbard, narrated by Janelle Tedesco is an outstanding addition to this popular and highly-rated series. Although it can be treated as a stand-alone novel, my advice is that you start with Book 1 and go from there because after listening to any one of them, you will want to dive face-first into the exciting world that S.W. Hubbard has masterfully created! To not bore you with repetition, I'll let you read the plot synopsis on your own. I cannot agree more with the other reviewers in regards to character development. These characters jump off the pages and pull you into their world! In reading or listening to other books, I have said many times that I feel like I'm watching a movie as the events unfold; it is not the case here. In this series, instead of a watching a movie, I feel like I am actually there, myself. I am part of the plot. I'm uncovering clues, making predictions (which I have to say I'm usually wrong...oops!), and discovering hidden secrets. Book 4, like the others, is very well-written and equally well-researched. I think there are many people who are able to entertain their readers by writing a good book. I do not think many of them have the skills to do the same while weaving in history and mystery, all while keeping readers and listeners on the edge of their seats in suspense. And, I do not think many of them have what it takes to lead readers down a path of twists amd turns, only to discover later how wrong they were in taking that path. S.W. Hubbard, however, is an author that can and does!! In this book she has again proven why she is a master of her skill.

Janelle Tedesco is a superstar narrator. If you have never had the pleasure of listening to her perform, you are really missing out! I absolutely love every minute of every book I have heard her narrate. She has the ability to bring both major and minor characters to life, all without fail. The tone and inflection of each character, alone, reflects the time and energy it takes to prepare for these various roles. Like many people, the main character in a book or series is usually my favorite character. While I absolutley adore Audrey, Ty is the one in which I can't get enough. He's the best! I feel that Janelle Tedesco's interpretation and delivery of Ty is the reason he has become my favorite. Her consistency throughout this book (and entire series) is to be admired, since I often forget she is just one person speaking, and her engaging voices and story-telling abilities make for a very enjoyable listening experience! Bravo!

Without hesitation, I rate Treasure in Exile: Palmyrton Estate Sale Mystery Series, Book 4 by S.W. Hubbard, narrated by Janelle Tedesco 5/5 stars across the board. It is engaging, exciting, and fun to listen to! This dynamic writer-narrator duo is on fire, and frankly, I don't see anyone rushing to put out the flames anytime soon! If you love mysteries, this is the one I recommend to you.

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

Truly enjoyable cozy mystery!

I received this book free from one of the book sites. I do not remember which one! This is my honest and voluntary review.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. The characters were intriguing & quite memorable. Each one had a role to play in the Rosa Parks Community Center, some more honorable than others! I have read the first book in the series too, and now I have to read the full series!

The writer has a way of weaving the story that captures the imagination of the reader. She is able to develop reasonable plots that have enough twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes too. I enjoyed the interactions between the crew of Another Man's Treasure, the marital interactions with Sean & Audrey...being married to an officer of the law who won't share information is really hard on a woman who enjoys solving mysteries!

The writing is detailed, I especially enjoyed the info on how estate sales are done. The history was very interesting. The dialogue is natural and consistent, there is some swearing, but it is quite limited to the situations & not prevalent. The descriptive writing gives substance to the story & I could "see" things clearly.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good writing wrapped up in a very good cozy mystery. Do not start this book in the evening! I started it around 11 pm & it's 5 am now! I don't give 5 stars often, but this author earned every one!

Audiobook review

Treasure in Exile was my first Palmyrton Estate Sale Mystery and I really enjoyed it. While the books feature recurring characters, I did not feel lost by not having read the earlier books.

I enjoyed the plotting and pace of the story. I can’t recall ever reading about an estate sale organiser who falls into sleuthing courtesy of the job, but it works. Audrey’s enjoyment of her work comes through the narrative and her desire to solve the mysteries she stumbles across comes from a genuine desire to learn the truth.

The mystery in this book is not one I would ever have guessed the solution to. It was a well woven story and brings insight into past rules of society and how they impact people today.

I enjoyed Janelle Tedesco’s narration. The tone, pacing and emotion were all done extremely well. Each character had their own voice, and I particularly enjoyed the character of Ty. He was a lot of fun even though it’s obvious his life has not been the easiest.

I received the audiobook free in exchange for an honest review.

The book was a slow build. Audrey is an estate sales lady, with a cop for a husband. In order to build her company she smoozes with the high society of Palmerton's upper class at a fundraiser to raise funds for the Rosa Park Foundation. The evening ends in a death.

Then the death takes a back seat to Audrey's business. She is given a commission to arrange the sale of the Tate House estate. This throws her into a decades old mystery surrounding the house, and modern day intrigue that ultimately circles around to the death at the party.

This is a very interesting book. I actually like the meandering tone of the story; it was well developed and keep me engaged throughout. Ms. Tedesco has a great voice and is a joy to listen to.

A thoroughly enjoyable read

The characters were diverse, intelligent and interesting which keeps the story flowing easily. The story was compelling; spanning events from World War II til today. The mystery of why two women would spend their entire lives together but otherwise alone in a huge mansion and on their passing leave everything to a community center is both fascinating and sad. I truly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.

Never a dull moment

This series is excellent. The author has done such a fantastic job of putting right into the lives of these characters. The estate sales are always so fascinating and educational. There is always a great mystery/murder to be solved by Audrey. Speaking of Audrey, she has matured so much in her personal life, it's great to read about. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of Sean. I think he's still immature and selfish but he doesn't play too much into the stories so it's still a great book despite him.
