Emily Bishop is a breakthrough romance writer from Seattle, Washington. She originally attended University of Washington as a history student but soon found a passion for words and stories. Upon graduating with a degree in creative writing, Emily fell in love and moved away from the hustle and bustle of the city to a quiet little town in Oregon.
She is now a full time writer who loves her job. She enjoys bad horror flicks, hair pulling, lemon pound cake, and spending time with her husband, Charlie, and her dog, Roscoe.
Another fav from Emily Bishop, it's a sweet insta-love read with a hint suspense. A hermit with a past and a star who's hiding away from danger. Two people who really hard to trust people, stuck in the cabbin together. Yup this one has interesting story from the get go. This book brings all the emotions, I feel the frustrations, the struggles, the fears, the attraction and all the love. It might a bit slow and I wished there's more suspense though, it felt rushed when the suspense kicked in, but with all the drama and secrets I still enjoy everything and I really like it.
As for characters, Love Lorn and Rayne, their relationship didnt's start smoothly and it's not always rainbows and lollipops, but that's what makes me love it more, and that's what makes their banter from the first meeting impressive.
If you're looking sweet read with a hint of suspense, this one might the one for you.

Author Emily Bishop writes exciting and entertaining stories with complex characters you'll fall in love with instantly. This is a great read, but not her best.
It is sexy, suspensful, captivating and steamy.
Running from her past, Rayne books a whole resort for her self. She is certian she is being followed and hikes insted of driving to the resort. Lost in the wood, she meets a ruggedly handsome sexy alpha male, who wants to help her. But can she trust him?

The h in this book is a crying obnoxious weakling. She spends the first half lying for no reason, and the second half sobbing and frightened. It was annoying.
Protecting Rayne by Emily Bishop a wrap you up warm in a log cabin four-star read. I am a huge fan of this author and was looking forward to reading this story, I did enjoy it, but I did feel it lacked something that is normally brought by the author, I don’t know what though it was hot and heavy and filled with passion that burned the page hotter than some of the hot springs that are the scene for a part of the book. Rayne was someone I could get behind she was just trying to survive and do what she needs to do, Lorn had a depth to him and I loved his non-traditional pet. Overall a good story, just not as good as I have come to expect from this author.
This romance novel is your typical trapped-in-a-cabin with the added complication of the possible emergence of a psychopathic murderer somewhere out in the surrounding wilderness, waiting for a chance for a revenge killing. To be honest, I wish we had a little more horror and suspense which would have made this novel even better, but that is an ambitious request. (I’m thinking along the line of Halloween without the goalie mask.) Risky, but I think it would have added an additional punch that would have taken this novel up and beyond those in its genre. It’s difficult not to think of this story as a rubber stamp of others of its kind. (Damn! Where’s Stephen King when you need him?)
Length: Short novel-length.
Emotional factor: Not as heart-rending as I would like. Yeah, I can’t say I know what it feels like to spend half my life living with the threat of being taken out by someone who should have stayed in jail. But it was a little bland. I just couldn’t feel for Rayne as I’m sure the writer thought I should. Lorn was a little better, but I’ve felt better emotional connections with characters in other novels.
Speed of action: Considering two minor snow storms (I’ve lived north of the Arctic Circle, and even by Wyoming standards, these were minor as you could still walk outside afterwards), it’s your traditional what-do-you-do-in-a-cabin?
Predictability: What do you think? At least the cavalry (local police) come in at the last moment. The only thing that wasn’t predictable is that the vengeful parolee gets hog-tied to a chair while awaiting interrogation by the cops. (Thank God Bishop didn’t characterize the sheriff and his ilk as ignorant hicks. I hate that character template!)
Credibility issues: You know, the snow they had to trudge through didn’t seem anywhere as difficult as the alleged storms would lead me to be. I remember having to navigate my way between university buildings during a blizzard so bad, it was black as midnight in the middle of the day, and the skies had opened up and just DUMPED a Great Lake’s worth of snow in thirty minutes, and I know how Wyoming storms can cut people off for months! Just not feeling it. Bad road conditions? Totally believable. (But the sheriff could have come up on snowmobiles or better yet, a snow cat.)
Grammar and technical errors: The only thing I saw was a paragraph following an italicized section in italics. (Someone forgot to turn that off.) It is obvious an editor was involved, but I am very surprised this got passed him or her.
This novel is a fun romp if you’re in the mood for romance in the woods (especially one with a natural hot springs in the back – how convenient on top of a mountain). I’ve giving it only four stars because though it’s entertaining, it could had been much more.
This one almost landed itself on my "never again" shelf. Why, you ask? The amount of eye rolls this book made me commit should be criminal - I'm sure I strained my eye muscle or something. Popped a vein at the very least.
This book delivers sickly-sweet romance with a supposed "edge" in a desperate effort to make it interesting. It was anything but. Rayne grated on my nerves. She was written as trying too hard to be the typical good girl, but instead of showing the readers this with her writing, the author was literally saying how much of a good, sweet, kind person Rayne was. Show me, don't tell me.
Lorn was just eh. I would have liked him more, but he fawned all over Rayne, so much so that my opinion of him drastically plummeted. Don't even get me started on the "fights" these two characters had, which were unbelievable. So much so, that I didn't believe they were actually fights, but rather a squabble between two siblings. The kind where each party leaves the argument hating the other, but eventually hug it out because they were predispositioned to love each other and therefore have no choice in the matter. In other words, they weren't really fights at all, but rather mild disagreements that get blown out of proportion.
Of course, our sweet, pure, innocent Rayne overreacts, and our hero Mr. Lorn stalks off, only to immediately regret it each time, even though Rayne was entirely at fault. I just couldn't handle this book. I urge you not to read it, especially if you're looking for a romantic suspense. The only thing suspenseful about this abomination is if Rayne is gonna get lost in the woods because she's literally that inept. 'Nuff said.
Rayne Carr planned to drop off the radar screen when she heard her father’s killer had been paroled for good behavior. She knew he would come for her but the authorities did not believe her.
She had a plan: 1.) rent a remote cabin on a mountain in Wyoming, 2.) have her driver drop her off far from the site to further erase her trail, 3.) then hike up the mountain to the lodge.
About the time she realized the plan had flaws, is when she heard a loud crack that didn’t come from beneath her shoe. Her heart is pounding…she has no weapon to protect herself. That’s when a massive beast crashed through the trees!
Lorn Hart owns this mountain camp hideaway – he has wounds of his own and used this mountain refuge to escape his demons. Rayne is brave and vulnerable … she brings out his need to protect her, to have her. And she reminds him he of is demons. It seems these two broken souls are both battling with their pasts. Will the struggle to survive help them heal?
Emily Bishop has created a remote paradise filled with danger and the promise of something more…healing. There is plenty of suspense, some sassy dialogue and a fair measure of heat that doesn’t come from the fireplace! If you are in the mood for a fast moving story that will warm your heart and give you a fair share of danger, then this is the book for you.
Loved the story, the twists, the mystery and of course, the interaction between Rayne and Lorn.

A great romantic suspense, fast paced and steamy. Rayne is a wealthy socialite, in the run from a stalker. A man she has lived in fear of since she put in jail for murder when she was only a teen. He is out and coming for her. The NYC police offer no help. She has escaped to a remote, unplugged mountain resort. Lorn, long ago left behind his socialite life. Born with a silver spoon, nothing he did was ever good enough for his father. A series of rebellions, cost him dear, but taught him some valuable lessons.Accusations made by a cheating ex, was the final straw. He retreated to a secluded town in Wyoming and runs a unplugged mountain resort. Lorn's peace and solitude is invaded by a tiny women with a big attitude, frightened eyes, and some big secrets. Rayne is attracted and annoyed by the handsome bear of a man who is resort she has rented out. Lorn and Rayne are drawn to each other, past hurts and both with trust issues threaten to pull them apart. Then there is the complication that Rayne's stalker may have found her. Loved Lorn and Rayne's story. A nice one year epilogue. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book from Booksprout. I bought a copy in support of the author, and it's a book I will read again.

An AMAZING story of triumph and strength told by a first-rate storyteller – an outstanding must-read! “Protecting Rayne” is all I was led to believe and more! Author Emily Bishop has a best seller on her hands because she wrote a romance that speaks to the soul of the reader! You can read the blurb to get a tease about the plot, but what this reader/reviewer needs you to know is although this may be the first book of Bishop’s I’ve read and reviewed it will not be the last. Bishop is an EXCELLENT writer whose smooth prose, rich characters, and complex plot make “Protecting Rayne” worthy of the accolades it has already received and so much more. For example, author Bishop has shown that she can weave suspense into an already sexy romance. Additionally, her characters, built through dialogue, flashback, and action are just flawed enough to be realistically human and just strong enough to be envied. Then, that exemplified strength carries both the male and female leads through personal tragedies and allows them the victory over circumstance and threat which the plot illustrates should have torn the main characters apart. I want to read this one again – yes, it was that good! “Protecting Rayne” gets my strongest rating – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – and a place on my favorites shelf. I STRONGLY suggest you purchase your copy of “Protecting Rayne” today. Happy pages! 😉

This is a fun interesting book at times, then at other times, scary and sad. These two people who seem so very different at first glance, are really a lot alike.
Fantastic. Emily did an excellent job as usual. Lots of twists and turns. You never know whats going to happen. It is well written. I couldn't put it down. I carried my kindle everywhere so I could keep reading. Grab this book. You'll be glad you did. Rayne booked all the cabins in the mountains to have some quiet time. She got lost and Lorn found her. Rayne was rude to Lorn. It started snowing so Lorn told her they would have to stay in his cabin for the night. Rayne protested but went anyway. She cooked some vegetables with instant noodles. Lorn said that would be his favorite meal now since he only has instant noodles. Rayne kissed Lorn but when Lorn started thinking, he pulled back. The next day, Lorn took Rayne to her cabin. She got settled in but kept thinking of the reason she needed to get away. She wonders if Lorn is spying on her for her daddy's murderer. Will Rayne ever trust Lorn? Will Lorn let down his guard and fall for Rayne?

This is a great story about Lorn and Rayne. Between the two of them they have many hurtful secrets that neither wants to share. Lorn is one hot sexy man that wants to stay in the mountains away from society and all the ugliness that happens with those out only for his money. Rayne lives a high profile life and her past is threatening to come back so she runs from it. Once Rayne is left at the resort she gets lost getting to her cabin and Lorn finds her and brings her back to his cabin due to a snow storm. Lorn has a natural instinct to protect Rayne and he’s not sure what to do with it. I love the friction and banter between these two with the back and forth. Once they both realize there is real danger Lorn does everything in his power to keep Rayne safe, protect and most of all distracted with his body! Can Lorn and Rayne who come from similar backgrounds work together to overcome the danger? Can finding one another help heal all the wrongs from their past? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Rayne is a wealthy bakery owner and someone is after her. She rents out a mountain resort so she could hide away but she didn't counted on the owner being there. Lorn helps Rayne when she is lost from the main resort thinking he would leave her thee and be done but the snow made him change locations. Rayne is a little scared of Lorn at first but quickly becomes at ease around him. Lorn knows that Rayne is hiding something from him but he isn't sure what. They get close the longer they are together and then Lorn notices a boot print in the snow that isn't his and Rayne is terrified again. Rayne's pursuer has found her in the middle of nowhere on a secluded mountain. Can Loren keep her safe? Will Rayne admit to having feeling for Lorn?
This was an amazing story about a woman that had to be strong because of a trauma she experienced at a young age. The chemistry between Lorn and Rayne is sizzling hot. Once I started I didn't want this story to end. If you aren't a fan of this author then by the end of this book you will be.
Another good Emily Bishop story! Rayne had her limo driver let her out not at the front gate but a hike through the woods to the resort she had completely rented out hopefully to hide out in safety from the killer after her. It is getting dark, starting to snow with no cell service. Her phone loses all power and she thinks she's lost. She hears a large animal behind her and turns to fall at the feet of a huge man. Both are tight lipped, not trusting one another, though she does say she is looking for the Main Cabin and he gives her directions but continues to follow her in the heavy snow. He finally tells her she has no survival skills and is going to have to spend the night at his cabin. There they continue to share only meager info. Will they ever trust one another? Who is rayne running from? Will the mountain man protect her? You know the answers and will enjoy reading the misunderstandings and the revealing character traits exposed along with the many missteps these two experience while snowed in on the beautiful mountain tops!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Emily Bishop has done it , yet again, and raised the bar with her tempestuous Story here. Rayne leads a society life and is a fun character. She is a feisty who is passionate and when she has to escape from home as she is being stalked she meets Lorn who is a huge, sexy mountain man who fall instantly in lust and love with one another in this short read. He is there to escape from all the people trying to cling to him because of his money. In this fast, paced read you will laugh, you may cry [as there are secrets they both don't really want to disclose], plenty of passion [get your fans at the ready set to max and have an ice cold drink to help cool you down], suspense and, as this is a book by Emily, a fabulous HEA. So easy to fall in love with both Lorn and Rayne so fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride!!! This is a book that I will be purchasing as it is so good! Can't wait for Emily's next story!
Protecting Rayne is a great new read by Emily Bishop. She does a great job creating a story with this mountain man protector trope. The suspense/action element adds a curve that keeps things interesting. The relationship between Rayne and Lorn goes through all kinds of phrases, while the heat between them remains constant. The only reason this didn't get five stars from me is because the beginning seemed a little contrite and styled in parts, and I really didn't like Rayne in the beginning. The story development cleaned up and improved through the story. Though I realize that Rayne's attitude toward Lorn is fear based (though unwarranted for him), I didn't like how she treated Lorn in the beginning, especially since she has no problem with having sex with him right of the bat. Overall, this is a great read though. I know that there will be, and are readers who feel differently and love this 100%.
Just because you are born into money, it doesn't mean that your life is perfect, or happy.
Rayne is running from her past, trying to stay alive when she ends up secluded on a mountain with a man who ran there to get away from his past and have somewhere safe to live.
Lorn's protective instincts kick in when he meets Rayne (and his sex drive!) Rayne doesn't think she can trust anyone, the police don't believe her so why should this bearded stranger?
The depths to the two main characters are written well and really show you what has shaped their lives and made them who they are.
The story was paced well, flowed well and held my interest from the start. Rayne and Lorn just work together and it was nice to see them work this out whilst they worked through everything else.

Emily Bishop has done it again. She writes a great romantic love story with a lot of suspense. You never ever know what is going to happen next which makes Emily books amazing. She is always able to hold my attention from the very beginning of the book and I have a hard time putting it down. I loved the characters in this book. The chemistry between Lorn and Rayne was hot. Both of these people were running and trying to hide from things in there past. Both didn't know if they could trust the other. They are drawn to each other but the question is will they let there guards down and let things happen? Will either of there past catch up with them. Great, great read and I highly recommend you pick up a copy. I know you won't be disappointed because I sure wasn't.

I liked it. It was an entertaining and suspenseful read for sure. Lorn and Rayne meet on his mountain, she's trying to get away and he's already hiding from the world. He's got money but does not care about it. She's got money but that can't help her hide from her stalker, he's more than that, she saw him murder her father and now he's out of prison and coming for her. How much trouble can happen on a mountain, a lot! The sex scenes were hot and their attraction was off the charts. If only they trusted each other outside of the sex. There are doubts, truths, affection, security all swirling around them, but can they get a handle on it and work out their issues. I would definitely purchase more of Ms. Bishop's work.
I received this advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.
Fantastic story by Emily Bishop this was a great book with suspense some really interesting twists and turns that just kept you waiting to see what was coming around the next corner. The characters were absolutely wonderful they couldn’t stand each other one minute and the next wow they couldn’t stay away from each other. Rayne has traveled to a resort in the mountains of Wyoming to escape some danger. Lorn has also come to the mountains of Wyoming to escape people, this is his land and resort. Soon there is some intense heat and chemistry between these two. Can they fight the attraction? Can these two learn to trust one another? This was an incredible story and I absolutely recommend it. If you like an alpha man and a feisty woman with a soft side this is a story for you, plus a touch of suspense and some secrets. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Another fantastic book by Ms. Bishop. I found that the characters were lovable and relatable in the sense that you can’t judge a book by its cover. The storyline, which has been down many times before, was done in a new and interesting way that hooks you in and doesn’t let you go until you’re done. Both Rayne and Lorn needed to get away from life, basically. Both have events that happened in their past that they wish didn’t but learn to move on with the help of the other. They meet at the perfect time in their lives when they didn’t actually realize how much they needed someone else. A passionate, steamy, and suspenseful story that will have you falling love with Rayne and Lorn. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I received an ARC from the author via Booksprout for my voluntary and honest review.
Another entertaining read by Emily Bishop about 2 characters fighting demons from their past who find protection, healing, and another chance at happiness with each other. Lorn, the hero, owns the mountain camp hideaway that Rayne ends up at. She's on the run from her father's killer who was just paroled. She knows he's coming after her next. They're both escaping from their pasts. They find each other and it's more than just sizzling hot chemistry. There's a little bit of suspense, twist, and turns but underneath it all you find a story about 2 people who find healing, love, and a chance at happiness unless the killer gets to them first.
Rayne Carr needed to get out of town for awhile. She books a resort in the mountains, A place she can hide from her troubles. What she didn't expect was to meet Lorn. He is the Man of the mountain and owner of the resort. He was by no means wanting a relationship and really neither was Rayne, In fact she really didn't like him at all at first. Although things can change when you least expect them to. Lorn knows she is running from something, just what that is he is aiming to find out. Things get heated between them and they start to like each other and once she opens up he vows to keep her safe. Can he keep her safe before the killer claims her? A great read, good characters and a wonderful HEA.
Set in the mountains of Montana we journey through the drama and eventual romance of Rayne and Lorn. She's a socialist who witnessed her father's murder and is hiding out from a psychopathic murder. Lorn is a hermit who has a wounded heart and has no interest in women. She ends up in his cabin because of an accident, a snow storm and no where else to go. He's not a happy camper, to day the least, but the chemistry is there and eventually explodes. This was a well written book with strong characters who did not like each other but eventually the chemistry took over. I received an advance reader copy via booksprout and voluntarily chose to write a review.
she wasn’t looking to be saved or to fall in love and neither was he !
Rayne Carr is running from her past and her present when she bumps right into mountain hunk man Lorn. Hiding the truth of her reasons for been on his mountain, he too is hiding some truths and both have trust issues! The chemistry between them is on fire and it’s not long before they give in to the passion between them and secrets are unraveled once proven they can both trust each other! A really good story with hot steamy scenes! 😍

Ah, poor Lorn. I think you’re lost in the woods… I know. You were doing fine until She showed up. Curves for days, blonde and snarky… You don’t believe in love at first sight. But lust-- oh yeah. Or, maybe not.
I know one thing. Rayne makes me laugh. You both make me laugh. Like a lunatic. And I may have given you a piece of advice here and there… Out loud. All alone. In my living room.
She’s running scared. You’re suspicious. Neither one of you knows if you can trust this feeling. Ah, what the heck! Bow to the inevitable.
Bottom line: Crazy fun, suspense and danger… A big, bada** Hero and a woman who meets him measure for measure. What’s not to like? 5 stars.
I am a new to Emily Bishop. Rayne rents out all the chalets in a remote location for her own physical safety. Emotionally, she is a mess; scared, anxious, and suspicious. Lorn owns the chalet complex and is hiding for his own reasons. When a storm comes, these two untrusting people are painfully thrust together. I enjoyed Lorn, and his willingness to share about his life, and found Rayne spending a lot of time in her head. It felt a bit slow, and there could have been a bit more suspense rather than the focus on Rayne's fear and anxiety. I liked the how it all came together in the ending.
I received an arc of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it.
Every single book that I've read from Emily Bishop has not left me disappointed. Protecting Rayne is fast paced filled with suspense, drama and the chemistry between Rayne and Lorn is explosive. Socialite Rayne goes into hiding as her father's killer is released from prison and has promised her that she will be next to die when he is free. Lorn an ex New Yorker and billionaire has found refuge in the mountains after almost losing everything he had to a woman. I highly recommend this book! I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I really enjoyed reading this book, I like the fact that there weren't a lot of people in the book just a few easy to remember names. I love how Lorn tried to fight his feeling for Rayne and still protected her even though she sometimes she didn't deserve it with the way she acted how she judged him because he had prior record. I understand why she did it but that didn't mean he was a bad person. I love everything about this book the story, the love for each. It was just amazing.
While attempting to hide away from the man trying to kill her, Rayne finds herself staying at cabin in the woods. Between getting lost, snowstorms and falling off a cliff, Rayne needs Lorn’s help to survive. But when the two rely on each other, sparks fly and passion ignites. But will the secrets in his past be more than she can handle? Or will the man who is trying to kill her hunt her down and end any thought of a HEA? With great characters and a plot that had me locked in from the opening pages this book is a great read.
