Henry V of England and his army have finally crossed the Somme in their desperate bid to reach the English held Calais. But the French have assembled an army to block their path. They cannot go forward and they cannot go back. They must fight, exhausted and outnumbered. At Azincourt.
Welsh rebel Owain Glyndwr has always evaded capture. In 1408, Henry IV of England gives the task to his son, Henry. As frustrated as his father by the elusive Glyndwr, Henry sends his spy, Mathias, to find him. In Aberystwyth, Mathias is injured and helped by a Welshwoman, Myriam, the niece of Owain Glyndwr.
Myriam and Mathias spend one illicit night in each other’s arms. When Mathias discovers she is Glyndwr’s kin, his prince instructs him to kill her, testing Mathias’s loyalties to breaking point. The outcome is tragedy and a terrible curse that drives the lovers apart. It takes Myriam into the lives of Prince Henry and his father the king. It takes her to France and the eve of the Battle of Agincourt in 1415. What she must do to be reunited with Mathias is wicked. It may destroy them both. It may mean murdering Henry V of England.
