Dominique Antiglio is a Sophrologist specialising in stress-management, self-development and birth preparation. Born in Switzerland, Dominique started Sophrology at 15 years old, learning early on ways to positively connect with herself and embrace a new way of living.
At 25, she graduated from the renowed European School of Osteopathy in Kent obtaining her Bsc(Hons) Ost. She came back to her native hometown and ran a successful osteopathic clinic for a decade, as well as specialising in treating children and pregnant women in France and the US. In parallel, she continued her personal development journey with Sophrology and trained as a Sophrologist. Dominique gained her Masters in Caycedian Sophrology (2006), notably training with Professor Caycedo, the founder of the method. Passionate about the mind-body connection, she also explored the power of sound and obtained her Holistic Voice Diploma in 2013 in the UK.
In 2011, having witnessed so many positive changes through the power of Sophrology for herself and her clients, she moved to London and founded BeSophro, a leading Sophrology clinic in Mayfair with an online platform. Through BeSophro she supports and inspires a wide variety of clients, individually and in groups, and working with schools and in the corporate environment, enthusiastically promoting the benefits of Sophrology in the UK and beyond. Her work has notably been featured in the Guardian, the Telegraph and Psychologies magazine. In 2015, Dominique also became a mum.

The Life Changing Power of Sophrology is a great book for an introduction to sophrology and how it can help you reduce stress and be more present and mindful.
The book starts with the story of how the author came to know and learn sophrology and I found this really interesting and a nice way to start the book. I hadn't heard much about sophrology before so it was interesting to learn about it and the benefits it has.
The middle of the book has many sophrology exercises and what they might be of benefit for. The way these are written is easy to understand and explained very well but they're even better when you use the audio as it's much easier to follow. I do like the quick sophrology that was mentioned as these would be great for on the go.
The book ends with some commonly asked questions and how you could incorporate sophrology in daily life to give it the most benefit to you. I found this a nice way to end the book and learning a bit more about the different levels of sophrology and what they consist of was fascinating.
I enjoyed reading this book and it is a great way to begin learning about the power of sophrology. I will continue to do the audio and look forward to seeing more benefits the practice will bring.
Really enjoyed this book thanks to the clear instructions and interesting examples. Many aspects based on meditation, but more connected to body and feel more related to general well-being. Looking forward to more practice and even more positive results. Pity no Sophrology in Wiltshire!
I listened to the Blink summary of this book. I found it made a lot of sense. It's similar in a lot of ways to meditation, with a focus on connection between the mind and body. I am intrigued and plan to read more books on the subject.

‘Een praktische methode die lichaam en geest in harmonie brengt.’ Dat staat op de (trouwens mooie) cover van dit boek te lezen. Je beter in je vel voelen door gewoon maar wat te ademen? Dat klinkt heel tof maar ook een beetje te gemakkelijk, daarom dat ik dit boek wel eens wou lezen. Want stel dat het toch echt…
Dominique kwam zelf op haar 15de in aanraking met sofrologie, ze is eerst osteopaat geworden omdat in die branche het belang van de verbinding tussen lichaam en geest wordt erkend. Later heeft ze ook nog de opleiding tot sofroloog gevolgd, om nog beter haar patiënten te kunnen helpen. Die passie en gedrevenheid komt doorheen het ganse boek naar boven. In Adem in adem uit komen voornamelijk oefeningen uit de eerste niveaus aan bod, er zijn er 12, en deze zijn goed te doen voor iedereen.
Dit is het eerste boek dat ik in dit genre lees dat ook echt doet wat het belooft. Als je dit boek koopt hoef je niets extra’s meer aan te schaffen om aan de slag te gaan. Elke oefening staat uitvoerig beschreven en voor wie wil is er op de site van Dominique een luisteroefening beschikbaar, gratis. Die oefeningen zijn heel makkelijk, eenvoudig en helder uitgelegd in begrijpelijk Engels (met een grappig Zwitsers accent).
Ik ben nog niet lang genoeg bezig om te zeggen dat mijn leven echt al is veranderd maar ik kan wel al zeggen dat ik na het uitvoeren van de eerste oefeningen al een gevoel van ontspanning ervaarde. In het begin vragen de oefeningen iets meer tijd maar na een poosje zou een 10 minuutjes per dag oefenen, als onderhoud, voldoende zijn om je beter in je vel te voelen. Ik geloof er wel in. Het zijn ook geen rare oefeningen ofzo, veel dingen herken ik uit de yoga of van tijdens het mediteren. Door bewust te ademen, rustige bewegingen uit te voeren en positieve intenties te visualiseren kan je je leven zo veranderen dat je beter slaapt, meer zelfvertrouwen krijgt, woede kunt loslaten, je concentratie vergroten,…
Dominique is een enthousiaste aanhangster en verspreidster van sofrologie, ik denk dat ik in haar voetsporen ga treden. Gun jezelf dit boek, gun jezelf meer positiviteit in lichaam en geest. Een mooi begin van 2019!
