One bright Spring morning when Philippe Germain, the owner of a prestigious Seattle art gallery, woke up, he didn’t know he’d be dead in a few hours.
Do you have a photographic memory? What would you do if you were in Provence, France, and happened to see the same painting for sale by the same dead artist that your best friend had just bought from a gallery in Seattle?
That’s DeeDee’s predicament. Join her, along with her significant other, Jake, a private detective, and her husky dog, Balto, as they search for the murderer of a well-respected Pioneer Square art dealer, but did he have secrets?
There’s no lack of suspects. Could it have been the gallery owner’s French wife, who is also his nephew’s lover? Or the nephew who owns a gallery in Provence? What about the struggling artist who had a gift for reproducing famous artists’ works? Maybe even the young retired Microsoft millionaire who had bought many paintings from the gallery? And what about DeeDee and Jake’s friend, ex-mobster Al De Duco, who had also bought a painting from the gallery?
This is the sixth book in the Northwest Cozy Mystery Series by USA Today and Amazon Chart #1 Bestselling Author, Dianne Harman.

Loved this book because it was suspenseful, mysterious, Murderous, action packed, page turner and so much more. I highly recommend this book and will read again and have.
I enjoyed this book. It starts with the death and then goes back to the events leading up the murder. It does take a while to get there because Dee and Jake are busy seeing and tasting the sights of Provence, France while they are on holiday. You get a lot of great sounding treats some of which are included at the end of the story. Once back home the story picks up and Dee gets on with the mystery she discovered in France. This is the first time for me of meeting these characters but it certainly won't be the last, as they are interesting and of course includes the loveable Balto, the dog. They mystery it's self played out nicely. For Dee's 50th birthday her boyfriend Jake has arranged a surprise trip to France so they can sample the cuisine, visit the sights and explore the art galleries and museums. While there she sees a painting that looks very similar to one she has just seen in a friends house. On her return she looks further into the matter by visiting the gallery that sold her friend the painting, only to discover the owner dead. Unable to sit back and do nothing Dee, with the assistance of her private detective boyfriend looks into the case. Can they solve the mystery behind the paintings and find a killer? Speaking French might just help on this case because everything seems to be connected back to Provence. I liked the narrator, she did some good voices and even some accents were included. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Interesting murder mystery and art fraud investigation
Four and a half stars for a good murder mystery, plus an extra half a star for an interesting art fraud investigation. Better written and plotted than many of the delightful but ordinary "cozy" murder mysteries that are currently so popular. Most of the characters are decent hard working individuals. There is a dog that plays a regular role in most of the books in the series, but the dog Balto only makes brief appearances in this book and none of his appearances seem to affect this story except to reassure his fans that nothing has happened to Balto. Instead, this time Jake, the private investigator boyfriend, plays a larger than usual role, although DeeDee is still clearly the star, as she should be.
If you are already a fan of the series, you will probably be slightly disappointed by how small Balto's role is, and hope to see more of him again soon. But this story works well in so many other ways that I was happy to forgive that, since dogs, international travel, and art galleries are difficult to combine well in the lives of ordinary people like Jake and DeeDee.
The series does benefit by being read in order. But if you picked this book up by itself and have not read the earlier books, you can still enjoy this story by itself.
Would you be able to spot a fake painting of an original? I sure wouldn't. But DeeDee, the owner of the catering business Deelish has a photographic memory. She also loves viewing art work so when she and her fiance take a trip to France they go to visit many art museums and galleries and restaurants where they eat amazing food! Just before they left on their trip they left their Husky with some friends and spotted a new original painting on the friends wall----
She wasn't positive--but thought she spotted it again in an art gallery in France. What will it take to prove which is the fake painting one way or another--quite a bit as it turns out. And then the art gallery owner is found dead-------who did it? A lot of viable suspects. Any one of them could have committed the murder and with good reason.
To find out who did it--and to see all the delicious recipes in this volume-----you know what to do!! Murder at the Gallery
I enjoyed reading Murder at the Gallery, the sixth Northwest Cozy Mystery, because each book flows nicely from the one before it! In this installment, Dee Dee Wilson and Jake Rogers travel to Paris to celebrate Dee Dee's fiftieth birthday. (I like the fact that the main character is middle aged!) They enjoy great food and visits to art galleries including The Germain Gallery. There is another Germain gallery back home in Pioneer Square--The Germain Plein Air Art Gallery in Pioneer Square. Things go smoothly in Paris, but Dee Dee encounters another murder once they return home. She discovers art dealer Philippe Germain dead in his gallery! Time to do some sleuthing! Once again Harman provides suspects who had a good reason to want Germain out of the way. I really like this cozy mystery series and I'll definitely be reading future books.
I like the characters in this cozy series. DeeDee and Jack have just returned from a week in Europe. DeeDee has a photographic memory and loves to visit art museums. Returning home and picking up their dog Balto, she notices a painting on her friend's wall which she has also seen in France. Is it a fake? Her friends think it is an original. Then the Seattle art gallery owner, Phillipe Germain, is found dead. There are numerous suspects who all have a motive to kill. DeeDee and her guy seek out the villain. I liked this story but it seemed a little slow and didn't excite me to keep my eyes open.
A 50th birthday gift from Jake to DeeDee is a week in Provence, France, staying in a chateaux and making day trips to various towns to sightsee and find at recommended restaurants. They visited art galleries and museums. At the Germaine Gallery DeeDee sees paintings that are copies of one's she was at a friend's and client's houses. Of course, once back in Seattle, she goes to the Germaine Gallery there and finds the owner dead, murdered. He was the uncle of the owner of the French gallery. Whodunit?
Although this is a typical Dianne Harman mystery, it does follow a little bit different format, with the murder occurring a little bit later in the story (don't worry, we knew it was coming).
I enjoyed the trip to the French countryside and was salivating at her description of the food.
My one complaint? Her use of the word "murmur" - really! She used it 7 times and I was ready to scream. Murmur has its place but her use of it was overkill. She needs a better copywriter.
Love mysteries that take your mind to different settings and also weave together multiple characters into a great who done it. This is one of those books where you're spending a great deal of time touring southern France in Provence and then back in Seattle learning about art forgeries while solving a murder. It's truly another one of those COZY NW mysteries
This is the 6th in the series. The main character DeeDee and Jake go on a vacation in Italy. While they were there DeeDee sees a painting that looks just like one her friend back home . When they get back home, first Jake proposes and then after saying yes, DeeDee starts investigating the paintings. She ends up finding the art gallery owner dead and that begin a new investigation. Can the two of them figure this one out?
Loved the descriptions of France, the bistros, and the food. A lot of fun traveling, without the jetlag. Jake continues to be a great guy. Balto is still adorable. The leading lady, Dee Dee, is still solving crimes, reluctantly, but being careful to let Jake where she will be. Character growth, trust development, and genuine caring between the characters. Good job.
This series is the first books I have read from Dianne Harman I love this writers style interesting fun reads with good plots. I would recommend her books to teens and adults. I have been reading one book a day in this series and getting ready to read the next one but her books they are great reads.
This one is my first in this series. I really enjoyed the main characters DeeDee and Jake! I also enjoyed the other characters and the story line. There’s a murder involving a gallery. And DeeDee is involved in the investigation. But she has Jake to help her and their dog Balto. There are secrets about the gallery and those who are connected to it. This was a fun mystery to solve!
6th in this Northwest cozy mystery series finds DeeDee again investigating a murder. An art gallery owner is found dead and seems to be mixed up with a forgery scheme. Taking place both in Provence and Seattle, DeeDee and her fiancé Jake investigate a myriad of suspects before they find the culprit.
Dianne Harman, again, gives us a we crafted mystery set in the Pacific Northwest. I loved the story lines, the characters and best of all the settings. This book and series is recommended for those who like cozy mysteries.

DeeDee and Jake have an incredible vacation, I would love to take that vacation!!! I’m so glad to watch this relationship develop and bloom between them and the relationships between your friends. I really like this series and every book I’ve read so far has been really good!!!
Diane did it again with her fast moving page turner. This focused a lot on Dee Dee and Jake's lives with their getting involved with a murder mystery as always.
A other out of order read that kept me fascinated.
Love how the cast of returning characters is growing and that deeded is so happy. Murder intervenes again and they rush to solve it. Baltimore the guard dog again alerts at the right moment.
